Chapter 3: The interagation
Having sat in mostly silence for the past hour I grew really, really bored in this concrete room. I mean come on what would it take these guys to decorate a little, I thought to myself. Finally after another ten minutes of silence the door to the little room i was in opened and out strolled my silent observer from earlier.
"What you did, was the most reckless, irresponsible, dimwitted, and dangerous thing i have ever seen in all my years of being a huntress," spoke the apparent huntress with disdain. "Well to be fair, I was minding my own business till they tried to rob the store I was in as well as myself, and I gotta say babe, I surely didnt see you there to stop them," I replied whille kicking my feet up on the table and leaning back in my chair. The huntress probably upset at the amount of respect, or lack there of she was receiving, had a eye twitch and a scowl going.
"Do you have any idea how dangerous those people were, and you taunted them and toyed with them, you could have been killed young lady!" she exclaimed trying to shock me with my own apparent mortality. "Please I was fine they weren't even worth me letting loose on em, plus it takes a lot more than that to kill me," i stated
Obviously very upset with my 'devil may care' attitude about the fight I was in, she raised her riding crop and levitated my feet off the table and back on the floor, much to my chagrin. "C'mon, I was just getting comfortable," I complained. "If it were up to me, I'd have you pay for the countless amount of property damage with community service, but someone wishes to speak with you," she said hotly. "Against my better judgment..." she grumbled.
After she said that a man about 6'1 and moderately lanky walked in with silver hair and the weirdest looking glasses I'd ever seen. "So sorry, but i dont believe we caught your name at the front. Who are you exactly?" the man questioned. "Well, considering nobody asked and Miss cranky here pushed me in too fast for them to process, im not surprised," I said in a mirth filled tone. Moving his specticals down, he looked at me intently and said, "You didn't answer my question." I quickly lost my smirk and adopted a serious look, "I dont give out my name to anyone, but until i can completely trust you, you can call me Toni, Toni Redgrave."
He looked at me, with a look of contemplation, and spoke, "Well miss Redgrave, where did you learn to do this?" He then proceeded to turn his tablet, twords me, showing a highlight reel of my fight from a few hours prior. I looked back up at him with a smirk and said, "Well, im more ore less self tought, but I've gotten a few pointers here and there, but its mostly because im just awesome." I heard the blonde dominatrix across the room scoff at that.
"Well for a self tought huntress such as your self you defeated some very strong opponents, one I've been personally after for a while," the stange glasses wear man said with a look of contemplation on his face. "The maiden, right, thats the one you wanted?" I asked, immediately increasing the tension in the room. " And how exactly do you know what she is," he said with a very cold look to follow his words. "Relax, Im not after them if thats what you think is going on, I was hired by one of them for a job about a year ago and recognized the power," I said trying to defuse the situation a little.
"Please follow with that story because i need to validate it, Miss Redgrave," said the man. "Well, what can i say, It happened about a year ago in mistrel, I was thinking about setting up shop there but couldn't really get behind the climate, anyway a booky of mine called with a job trying to get me some work. The client wanted protection from grimm and anything else, I took the job and we were attacked by people who wanted her power while traveling, after we beat them bloody we moved on and she told me about the maidens later that night, said she was the summer maiden."
"As much as i hate to say it, her story checks out for. what we've heard from Qrow, who made contact with summer recently," said The blondie. 'That name seems really, really familiar...' I thought to myself and suddenly remembered i had an uncle named that, mean i had living family. "Wait!" I exclaimed, bringing them out of their conversation. "Qrow, as in Qrow Branwen?" I asked, almost desperate. Both of them share a look wondering where I was going with this, "Yes the very same, why know him?" Now it was my turn to have a look of apprehension, "Yes, he's my uncle, is he still alive?" Looks of realization dawned on the two as their eyes widened with realization and surprise, "You're Ruby, Ruby Rose?" The man with glasses asked. "Well damn, that cats outta the bag..." I mumble.
"You're family and Uncle have been looking everywhere for yo-" he said but was cut off by a menacing glare with eyes that flashed yellow with untold demonic power. "For your sake, I hope you didn't just mention the family I watched die, for pity points from me because I will tear you asunder if that's the case." I stated in a dark tone. Both looked absolutely stricken by my words, and the man replied, "But they aren't dead, everyone thought you were dead actually, they never stopped believing and searching for you." My face showing a much more emotional and calm face, iImumbled, "T-their, alive," I said in an almost subdued tone. "My father, sister, and mother are... are they alive?" The man still in slight shock from the turn of events replied, "Yes, and they have been running around the world looking for you without stop since you went missing." He then pondered for a bit while looking at me, "Though from their description, your hair should be brown and red, not pure white," the man said. "It's a long story, but it used to be brown, but it changed a while ago," i replied, not really wanting to discuss what happened all those years ago.
"So where are they?" I asked, ready to go and see them after so long. "Patch, off the coast of Vale," the man replied. "And I'll even send you there if you'll hear out my offer?" Looking at him with a little scrutiny but decoding to hear him out, I reply, "Alright I'll hear it out, but I ain't saying yes till I know if the pay is worth it?" The man smiled, "Yes, of course, so having seen you fight and take out a maiden with minimal effort as you put, I know you're strong, I run a school and events are coming into play faster than I really want them too. I need you to go undercover as a student at Beacon Academy and protect your fellow students, I'llfill you in more on the job should you accept but thats the gist of it," he said with a certain amount of mirth. "That's all well and good, but what's the payment?" I asked mulling over the job. "Well, for one you'll get a huntress license at the end of the four years which should help your business, two you'll get to be involved with my organization devoted to stopping people like the ones you stopped today, and three you'll get to spend time with your sister as she is enrolled for next semester," the man replied.
Having heard his payment and all it entails, i had made up my mind, "Sure, on one more condition," i stated, looking at him with a smirk. "Name it," he replied. "You said everyone thought i was dead. Does this mean I have a grave?" I asked. "Yes, its on patch on a cliff. They visit it every time Qrow is in town, why?" he questioned, wondering what i was getting at. "Send Qrow back to patch, I wanna meet them over my grave," I said with a mirth filled look in my eye.
