It was a cool fall morning at UA. Dawn had just broken. The air was cold and crisp, the leaves on the ground crunching satisfyingly with every step of Izuku Midoriya, who'd been out on his regular morning jog. The trees surrounding the young man, the leaves all vibrant warm colors as they began to dry up and fall.
Izuku, now approaching a distant bench, sat down. The wood looked like it was very worn and well used. He pulled out his phone, 5:57. He'd have to make it back to the dorms by 6:30 to begin preparing for his school day. He looked around and just admired the scenery around him. The UA forestry was always so secluded, perfect for a morning jog. The birds are chirping, the sound of the trees being gently blown on by the breeze.
It had been about two weeks since they moved into the dorms, and they were still adjusting to living away from their families. But everyone knew this was better for their safety. Everyone in Japan was still recovering from the shock of All Might's retirement. The crime rate had skyrocketed in only two weeks since All Might's been gone. All this meant was Izuku would have to work even harder to become the pillar that All Might had set him on the path to become.
Izuku had still been relaxing on the bench enjoying the view around him when his phone lightly buzzed inside his pocket. Pulling it out he saw a text from his very strict but caring friend Tenya Iida. The message read
"Midoriya, Please make sure you're ready for school extra early today. We are supposed to attend a PSA spoken by Principal Nezu."
Midoriya looked at his phone and sighed, replying to him
"Alright I'll be ready by then."
He checked his phone which read the time of 6:11. He turned off his phone and put it back in his pocket. He had even less time to return to the dorms and be able to get ready. As soon as his phone was safely secured, Midoriya's body was engulfed in a green electricity as he powered up into his full cowling 5% and began a full sprint back to the dorms.
A sweat drenched panting Midoriya stood in the common room attempting to catch a little bit of breath. He straightened his back, and took a deep breath and held it before slowly exhaling to slow his heart rate.
"H-hi Deku" a small voice gently spoke, immediately skyrocketing his heart rate again and forcing a squeak in surprise as he spun around to face the voice, who he realized was his best friend Ochako Uraraka. "O-oh hey Uraraka"
she smiled gently at his endearing nervous nature. "Good morning, Iida's waking everyone up early for some PSA apparently…"
He returned the smile. "Yeah, I just so happened to be out on my morning jog and he texted me." Midoriya said as he set his phone in his pocket.
Ochako stretched her arms above her head whilst yawning "We should probably go and get ready before Iida comes down here and yells at us for not being 15 minutes early." She said with a giggle. "Definitely." He replied with a slight chuckle knowing their shared friend's tendency to berate his classmates to be ever punctual.
Fearing their Iida's well meaning "wrath" Midoriya put on a show of being overdramatically panicked as he hastily made his way to the stairs leading to the boys side of the dorms and pulling a giggle out of Ochako, hearing it put a smile on his face as he turned around and gave her a wave goodbye.
Closing the door to his room, Midoriya quickly stripped off his clothes and got his uniform on, and put on his All Might branded deodorant and cologne. He rushed out the door and down the stairs to find most of his friends, also awoken by Iida. Mina of course, whining about not getting enough beauty rest. Momo was in the kitchen area making a quick snack before school, Todoroki was close by helping where he could. Kaminari, Mineta, and Sero were conversing. And the rest of them were either waiting to leave or on their phone. Midoriya walked towards His best friend Ochako, who was currently speaking to Asu- Tsu… He walked up to them and greeted them. "Hey Uraraka, Hey Tsu." Asui turned to the green haired boy "Oh, Hey Midoriya Kero" "Hey Deku!" Ochako smiled brightly "Are you guys curious about this apparently super special PSA?" Midoriya asked, hoping his friends were as curious as he had been. "It's definitely intriguing to say the least, Kero" Asui replied "I agree with Tsu" Ochako chimed in with a nod.
"Maybe Principle Nezu is going to give all of us students some words of encouragement. I've noticed that some of our classmates and even some of the students in higher grades than us have been stressed lately. All Might retiring must really have put people on edge. Kero" she stated.
Midoriya silently agreed with the sentiment, a hero world without All Might is something he's still coming to terms with. And to think he was going to have to fill the void All Might left behind caused a cold weight in his heart. But he didn't want it to show so instead he put on a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, no need to worry them, especially Uraraka.
"Well guess the only way to find out is to wait." Midoriya replied "Yeah" Both Tsu and Ochako replied in Unison.
Around 5 minutes later Iida called out to everyone, "Now that everyone is awake we can now depart, we are requested to meet at the front of UA, Don't forget however that this is a normal school day and you all should be dressed and prepared accordingly, now let's go and be model students." Iida says whilst chopping his arms toward everyone -
"But Iida it's still like 15 minutes before we have to be there." Mina groaned while flopping onto the couch.
"Model students should always strive to be early to every class!" Iida retorts while ferociously chopping his hand at her.
"You don't have to be early everyday Iida, from what rumors I've heard today from the other classes it seems like it will likely be laid back." Momo says as she finishes preparing her hair
"Regardless, we're leaving whether or not you agree on being early. We must uphold our class's reputation" Iida states
"You mean the reputation Bakugo destroyed during the sports festival?" Mineta retorts slyly before a swift chop of Iida's hand to the head interrupts him
"Which is all the reason for us to be model students despite the actions of one classmate! Regardless that he has made some questionable choices shouldn't be an excuse for your lazy behavior!" Iida bellows as he fixes his glasses
Soon after everyone gathered their stuff and made for the door, after a bit of walking and conversing they made it to the front of UA. They are greeted with a nearly finished stage,
"You guys are early. The stage isn't even ready." Aizawa states in his casual monotone voice
"Iida insisted that we be early, sooooo.." Mina says as she looks at Iida with a spiteful glare
"Well congratulations, Being early has rewarded you with front row seats for us constructing the stage." Aizawa says as he hands another teacher a part of the stage
"Sir, might I ask why we're being assembled today?" Iida asks
"You'll see when it happens." Aizawa says as he returns his attention to the construction
The students took this as an opportunity to start murmuring to each other and begin meeting up with their closer friends in the class to try and figure out what their mischievous principal was planning.
Ochako light heartingly smiled as she listened to her friends Mina and Toru throw around dramatic ideas of their principal sending them on another "Crazy school trip" or "An awesome festival for All Might's retirement". The mention of All Might naturally made her curious what the retired number one hero's biggest fan was thinking, as she started looking around the class for her best friend. Quickly finding his bushy green hair that she most definitely didn't want to run her hands through. With a smile she ran up to the distracted boy
"Hey Deku! I heard Hagukre guess that maybe this is gonna be to celebrate All Might's retirement, wouldn't that be great?" …Not getting a response she quickly noticed that he wasn't in one of his humorous muttering sessions, but instead had a hundred yard stare.
He seemed lost in thought as he watched the teachers work to finish preparations. But he seemed to have more on his mind than just the upcoming announcement.
"Deku are you alright?" she asked softly, now a little worried as she tapped his shoulder, careful not to use all five fingers.
The sudden contact seemed to snap Izuku out of his head as he jumped from the sudden appearance of the girl touching his shoulder.
"U-Uraraka!? H-Hi! Sorry, did you say something?" He said with a nervous smile, clearly embarrassed by his reaction.
Ochako long used to his jumpy nature, gave him a comforting smile and continued like it didn't happen, but mentally set aside her worry for later.
"It's alright Deku, I was just asking what you thought this announcement might be for All Might. Mina and Hagukre seem really excited about the idea so I wanted to know what you're thinking."
At the mention of All Might's retirement Izuku felt a pit in his stomach but tried to hide his reaction. With another empty smile that Ochako saw through in an instant.
"...Yeah that would be nice. He deserves a good send off from the hero scene after all." He replied simply. Trying not to give up his guilt over All Might losing his powers.
Ochako feeling a little lost in the lack of energy in Midoriya talking about his idol decided to be a little more forward. Taking a deep breath she gathered the courage to carefully put her hands on his arms forcing the boy to look her in the eyes.
"Deku…Are you alright? I've noticed you've been acting differently lately. You know you can always talk to me y'know. What's bothering you?
Caught in the act, Izuku's face dropped, bags under his eyes seeming more apparent than ever. He wanted to tell her, he really did. She was his best friend, she had the right to know what's making him act this way right? But if he did he would have to mention OFA, it would put her in danger just knowing what he's been entrusted with. But now… Staring at the determined look in her eyes as the breeze made her long brown bangs blow in the wind. He could see just how serious she was. All doubt crumbled in his mind as he saw just how strong she was willing to be for him. He quickly felt his guard begin to crumble along with it.
"Uraraka…I-"
*Tap Tap Tap*
But before he could say another word the stage was revealed to be finished with the Principal Nezu sitting up at the podium waiting for the rest of the classes to arrive tapping the mic with his small paw to test that the mic was working correctly, and soon students began flooding into the courtyard, loud chattering and conversations could be heard.
Ochako and Midoriya turned back to each other and realized that what little privacy their conversation had was gone. Ochako sighed in resignation as she let her hands slide down his arms and back to her sides, unknowingly sending a tingle up Izuku's back at the feeling. She gave him a sad smile before moving back to Mina and Hagukre's group, he watched her walk away and was left alone with his thoughts.
"Alright that should be everyone" Present Mic said to Nezu "Shall I get everyone calmed down?"
"Go right ahead." Principal Nezu says with his usual cheerful tone
"All right little listeners! It's time for the big announcement, If you could please quiet down and pay attention that would be very Plus Ultra of you!" Present Mic said as his voice towers over everyone else's, surely enough everyone became dead silent except the occasional whisper, mostly everyone's eyes focusing on Nezu at his pedestal
"Thank you all for being here and being cooperative. Now let's get this announcement started. First off, our school board has decided on an event, this event is meant to raise everyone's spirits up after the unfortunate retirement of our number one hero All Might. Now we know you all may feel a bit on edge, which is why we have elected for this event in the first place, This event will be held in the Gamma gym. Now I figure we've kept you in suspense long enough, This event we will be holding tomorrow night will be UA's first annual Prom! There will be all kinds of drinks and snacks provided, there's no entrance fee, all we require is for you all to have fun! That's it for the announcements. Thank you for your time, now please make your way to your classes!" Nezu finished
With that complete silence, everyone was surprised. A prom? This will be interesting, everyone thought. After everyone's commotion died down Nezu grabbed his papers off the pedestal then hopped down off his stool and walked with Midnight and Aizawa discussing plans for the prom.
Midoriya had begun walking toward the building like everyone else, his mind weighed by the announcement. His middle school had a prom before, and because he hid how his classmates really treated him from his mother, she bought him a ticket to it hoping he would make some new friends. That's not how the night went at all, he knew it wouldn't but it still faced it with a smile. When he got home he told her that the stains on his shirt was from someone's clumsy dancing while they still held their drink. But while he would never admit it, his old classmates' mocking words and laughs left even worse stains than the punch.
He quickly shook his head to rid himself from those thoughts.
'This year will be different! My classmates in UA would never do anything like that to me! …Right? I mean of course I'm right! And what's the worst that's gonna happen? It's not like I even have anyone to worry about asking me to the dance. Who would even consider asking someone like me-'
A flash of Ochako's smile, emphasized by her blush, flashed in his mind.
Feeling a bead of sweat go down his brow, he shakingly removed that image from his mind, it would never happen. She's kind, pretty, and strong in every way he can think of. While he's just plain old Deku.
With somber resignation he tried to ignore the stab his heart felt with that thought. After all he had an even more worrying problem concerning 1-A's Gravity defier.
Following instinct he continued on his way towards his classroom as he mulled over his previous conversation with the girl on his mind.
'I really almost spilled everything to her right then and there in front of the school! How could I let that happen!? Sure she saw right through me and asked me with that gentle kindness she always gives me as she forced me to look into her…beautiful eyes…'
Izuku's eyes widened as he was filled with a foreign emotion that always seemed to linger in the back of his mind whenever he talked to the beautiful brunette.
Giving himself a mental slap he pulled himself together.
Well whatever it was, he needs to be stronger than that, he won't let his problems weigh on her any more than they already do.
His resolve resolved stronger than ever he focused on the next step forward.
As the classes flooded into the hallways of UA, the halls erupted with a mix of Excitement, worry, and questions in the distance of the flood of people, Iida could be heard trying to calm people down to no avail. Eventually all of 1A made it to their class. In the class was no different from the halls, everyone questioning everything, worried about certain things, and overall a whole lot of excitement
"Everyone! I understand the announcement of the event has everyone excited but can you please calm down and act like model UA students, we shouldn't act this way, it's improper!" Iida exclaimed trying to calm people down to no avail until
*BOOM*
"WILL YOU ALL SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT THIS STUPID PROM!?" An enraged Bakugo roared from the back
Silence
Just as Iida was about to reprimand Bakugo, their homeroom teacher, Shouta Aizawa walked in. "Alright everyone, I understand you are all excited about the announcement but we're still in school so please act accordingly." Aizawa monotonly stated as he stepped out of his classic yellow sleeping bag "Now lets begin with-" the sounds of his teacher talking faded as he wandered his thoughts.
The day seemed to fly by in a blur, Midoriya had been stuck in his own head almost all day thinking about how all his friends are excited for this prom and yet all he can feel is a sense of dread, for all he can think is how no one will want to go with him, shrugging off that sense of dread, Midoriya returned his focus to the class, before he knew it, it was lunchtime. Gathering his things he left his current classroom and headed toward the cafeteria.
Upon entering the large room he headed straight for the spot Uraraka and Iida always met up with him, except when he got there it was only Uraraka, confused Midoriya approached her, waving with a small smile.
"Hi Uraraka, where's Iida?" He asked looking around, "I'm not sure, Tsu said she saw him last heading toward the support room." She replied, "That's odd, why would Iida need to visit Powerloader and the support students?" He asked, scratching the back of his head "I'm not sure, but would you like to go ahead and get in line, Deku?" Ochako asked, glancing at the Food Rush lunchline hungrily. Midoriya turned to face her and let out a quick chuckle, "Yeah sure, I'm sure Iida won't mind… too much."
Ochako grabbed his hand suddenly and began leading him through the crowded cafeteria much to Midoriya's mental peril, his mind began going a million thoughts a second, soon they had made it to the line, at this point Midoriya was a blushing mess.
Uraraka turned to face him, "What are you gonna get today Deku?" she asked him with a smile. "I-I-I…" Midoriya couldn't produce a single coherent sentence from the distraction of the warm and soft sensation of Uraraka's hand, "Is everything ok Deku?" She asked, looking confused. It took her a second to process the fact that there was a foreign warmth in her hand, glancing down she realized the source of her friends embarrassment, she let go, and immediately began spewing out apologies.
Calming down, Midoriya tried composing himself, "I-It's Alright Uraraka, You asked what I was getting, I was thinking about getting some rice and udon." Uraraka, also calming herself down, stood and pondered for a second, "Ooh I know what I want!" She exclaimed happily. "Oh? What would that be?" Midoriya replied.
It jumps to Uraraka & Midoriya sitting alone at their usual lunch table while Iida still remained absent, as the two of them were ready to eat their meals. "So it's rice and udon for you too?" Midoriya chuckled. "Yep! I mean, you mentioned it and it sounded really yummy so I decided I'd get it too!" Uraraka said. Midoriya smiled from her response.
For a moment of enjoying their lunch, it started getting a little silent, in an attempt to break the silence Midoriya tossed out a question "So, what are your thoughts on this 'prom' that Principal Nezu announced?" He gave her a quick glance before taking another bite of his food.
"Oh yeah, the Prom announcement! It sounds really fun and exciting! We all get to dance at the dance floor with tons of flashing bright lights, there'll be music, we get to eat delicious snacks, spend time together, share smiles, laugh as we enjoy our night and… ", Uraraka gazed at Deku for a moment, her thoughts wandered off thinking how amazing it would be if Deku were to dance with her, immediately brushing away the overwhelming embarrassing thought she continued, "Y'know, spend time with those you really care about…"
After listening to Uraraka's thoughts about the Prom event, Midoriya couldn't help but genuinely smile & blush after hearing out her thoughtful response which made him even more thrilled on going. "I'm excited to spend time with you all as well."
The two returned to their food, soon after they finished the lunch bell rang and they headed to class together, upon arriving they headed to their seats and waited for their english teacher Present Mic to arrive, soon the obnoxiously loud teacher showed up and they got to their lesson.
The scene cuts to All Might sitting in a chair in his classic loose outfit watching as Principal Nezu poured him freshly boiled tea. The principal spoke up, "You wished to speak to me in regard to the prom, correct?" He asked in his normal cheerful tone as he passed All Might his, now poured cup of tea. "Yes, I did indeed wish to speak with you." He said taking the cup "I was wishing to ask permission for me to give a speech right before the prom begins regarding my retirement." After the Principal took a sip of his tea he looked back at the ex-hero "Well of course All Might, I'm sure that final bit of closure will be of help to ease the consciousness of the students." All Might looked down at his tea as he took another sip and thanked the principal, soon the two departed. All Might walked away toward his office, planning on how he was going to do this speech.
We return to a focused Midoriya in his final class of the day, scribbling down the last bit of notes before the bell rang, just as he jotted down the final bit of the notes, looking up his teacher Aizawa spoke "Tomorrow is the day of the prom, therefore we do not expect you all to train very hard tomorrow, I'm not saying you won't be training because you will, but do not exhaust yourselves before the prom." the baggy-eyed teacher said in his usual monotone voice.
Soon after the teacher finished speaking the familiar noise of ringing filled the school halls as they were dismissed, closing his notebook he slid it into his backpack and zipped it up. Setting it on his shoulder he turned toward his best friend who was still in the process of packing their things, he walked over. "Hey Uraraka." The brunette turned toward him as she put the last of her things away and put her backpack on "Hey Deku, ready to walk back to the dorms?" Midoriya smiled at her, "Yep, let's find Iida, we still gotta question him about his run to the support room during lunch!" She smiled "You're right!" She turned toward Iida's desk, he was currently scolding Bakugou for something, Bakugou ignored him as he walked out. Iida went to chase him before he was stopped by a familiar face, "What is Uraraka? I'm busy telling Bakugo why he can't-" He was cut off by Midoriya "Hey Iida, forget about him for the moment, let's head back to the dorms, you can scold him later." Iida took a deep breath as he adjusted his tie. "Alright, I accept your terms."
Iida grabbed his stuff and with his two friends in tow, exited the classroom and then the building, outside the made their way toward the dorm house. After a few minutes of walking, Uraraka broke the silence. "So Iida." Continuing walking he looked at her. "Yes Uraraka?" She smiled at him, "Why did you skip out on lunch today to go to the support room?" She gave him an inquisitive look.
Iida stiffened at the mention of his earlier activities, pulling his gaze away as he looked forward, adjusting his glasses. "Well first off, I apologize to you and Midoriya, I should've at least told one of you before bailing at lunch, but as to your question Uraraka, I went to the support room to discuss some possible new upgrades and a few other things." A puzzled looking Midoriya chimed in, "but how did you get help when Powerloader wasn't here today? Unless you went to Hatsume, despite how much I know you prefer Powerloaders work, especially because his stuff doesn't run the risk of blowing up in your face …"
Iida gave him a small smile as he kept walking, "Usually I do prefer Powerloaders work, but the support students are just as talented as their teacher, but as you said he was out today so I had no other choice and so I went to Hatsume, and she agreed to help me with my upgrades, although she had one condition…" Ochako looked toward him, "What kind of condition?" Iida sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. "Her only condition was that I take her to the prom…" Both Midoriya and Uraraka blinked a few times "Hatsume? She asked you to the prom?" Uraraka questioned "Yeah, she doesn't strike me as the romantic type" Midoriya added, Iida then responded, "That's correct, she's interested in going, surprisingly with me of all people". Uraraka then presumably asked, "did you accept going with her?" Iida adjusted his lenses preparing to answer, "Well she seems delighted to go so, so I kindly said yes. In one condition however, she mustn't bring any of her 'babies' in the area!- which I'm sure she won't be in regards to UA's standards of course!"
Midoriya shuddered remembering his many explosive encounters with Hatsume's 'babies.' Shaking the thought away he responded, "Heh..well congrats Iida for having a partner to go with, I'm sure you two will have lots of fun together!" Iida replied by thanking him, Iida pondered a question for a moment as they continued walking down the path, "So, what about you two? Will either of you be attending the event with someone?" Uraraka's eyes widened slightly, caught off guard by the sudden attention. She exchanged a quick glance with Midoriya before clearing her throat. "Yeah, we haven't made any plans yet," she added, trying to sound nonchalant. "But, uh, I guess we could consider going together if that works out. "Iida nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Excellent! It would be wonderful to have both of you join us all at the dance. The more, the merrier!" he exclaimed, clearly pleased with the idea. "We can all have a great time together as a class." Midoriya's anxiety eased a little, realizing that he wouldn't be the only one attending without a confirmed partner. He looked at Uraraka, silently seeking her approval. She smiled warmly and nodded in agreement, silently conveying her consent to join Iida and his partner for the event. As they walked down the path, the conversation shifted to the upcoming event, filled with anticipation and excitement. Midoriya couldn't help but feel grateful for the supportive friendships he had forged at U.A. High School. Despite the challenges they faced as aspiring heroes, moments like these reminded him of the bonds they shared and the strength they drew from one another. With newfound enthusiasm, Midoriya and Uraraka began discussing their plans for the event, their voices filled with anticipation and a touch of lighthearted banter. As they continued down the path, their laughter and camaraderie filled the air, setting the stage for a memorable night that would strengthen their friendship even further.
As the trio arrived at the dormitories they walked up to the front door, opening it to the usual, boisterous atmosphere of their fellow classmates. The common area was abuzz with conversations, laughter, and the occasional outburst of excitement. Students gathered in groups, sharing stories of their recent training exercises or discussing upcoming hero internships. The sound of footsteps echoed through the hallway as students hurriedly prepared for the event, exchanging compliments and suggestions for outfits. Midoriya, Uraraka, and Iida made their way through the crowd, receiving friendly waves and greetings from their peers. As they reached the staircase leading to their respective rooms, Midoriya caught sight of Todoroki and Kirishima engaged in a discussion about their hero costumes. "Todoroki! Kirishima!" Midoriya called out, catching their attention. "Are you guys going to the event too?" Todoroki nodded, a small smile forming on his face. "Yeah, we thought it would be a good opportunity to relax and have some fun outside of the usual training routines," he replied. Kirishima enthusiastically agreed, his trademark grin widening." We're going with some friends," Kirishima added. "It's going to be awesome!" Midoriya couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement as he saw the enthusiasm in his friends' eyes. The thought of spending the evening with his classmates, enjoying a break from their hero duties, filled him with a sense of camaraderie and belonging. The event held the promise of creating lasting memories and strengthening the bonds that had formed within their class. With farewells exchanged and promises to meet up later, Midoriya, Uraraka, and Iida bid their friends goodbye and continued up the stairs.
As they reached their respective floors, the sound of music and laughter drifted through the corridors, adding to the growing anticipation of the event. Entering his room, Midoriya found himself surrounded by the familiar reminders of his journey as a hero-in-training. His All Might posters, shelves filled with hero memorabilia, and the costumes he had worn during his practical exams served as constant reminders of the path he had chosen. Taking a moment to collect his thoughts, he felt a surge of determination and excitement coursing through his veins. As he calmed himself he moved toward his bed and laid down. As he laid there, he reminisced about how he got here and how he's met so many amazing people, soon following he drifted off into sleep.
The next morning, Midoriya was harshly awoken to a very loud alarm, jolting him out of his peaceful slumber. Disoriented and still half-asleep, Midoriya fumbled around to locate the source of the blaring noise. He finally managed to silence the alarm and sat up on the edge of his bed, rubbing his eyes to shake off the remnants of sleep. Realizing that it was morning, Midoriya quickly snapped into action. He glanced at the clock and cursed under his breath. "I overslept! I can't believe I missed my usual morning routine," he muttered, a tinge of panic in his voice. With a burst of adrenaline, Midoriya rushed through his morning routine, hastily getting dressed and tidying up his room in record time. He checked his phone for any urgent messages or updates, hoping that he hadn't missed any important announcements or he made his way down to the common area, he noticed that many of his classmates were already up and about, engaged in their own morning routines. The aroma of breakfast filled the air, enticing his growling stomach. Midoriya's thoughts momentarily drifted to the delicious meals his mom used to prepare for him, but he quickly refocused on the task at hand. Taking a deep breath, Midoriya pushed open the doors to the common area and was greeted by a chorus of cheerful "Good mornings" from his fellow classmates. Despite his rushed start, their warm greetings and friendly smiles instantly put him at ease.
Taking another deep breath, Midoriya stepped into the room, returning the smiles and greetings of his classmates. His eyes scanned the bustling common area until they landed on the kitchen area, where he spotted his best friend, Ochako, standing by the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease. A warm feeling of familiarity and comfort washed over Midoriya as he approached Ochako. "Morning, Uraraka! You're making pancakes?" he called out, his voice filled with genuine excitement. Ochako turned around, a bright smile lighting up her face as she saw Midoriya. "Morning, Deku! Yeah, I thought everyone could use a delicious breakfast to start the day off right," she replied, her eyes sparkling with warmth and affection. Midoriya couldn't help but appreciate Ochako's thoughtfulness. It was moments like these that reinforced the deep bond they shared—a friendship built on trust, support, and a mutual understanding of each other's dreams and struggles. As Ochako served a plate of fluffy, golden pancakes, Midoriya couldn't help but feel grateful for her presence in his life. They had come a long way from their days as aspiring heroes-in-training, constantly pushing each other to grow and a grateful smile, Midoriya sat down at the nearby table, eagerly digging into the stack of pancakes. The familiar taste and the warmth of the shared meal invigorated him, fueling his determination for the day ahead. Between bites, Midoriya and Ochako engaged in light-hearted conversation, discussing their plans for the day, sharing anecdotes from the event, and teasing each other playfully. Their easy banter and genuine camaraderie created a comforting atmosphere, one that Midoriya cherished deeply. As they finished their breakfast, Midoriya couldn't help but reflect on how fortunate he was to have Ochako as his best friend. Her unwavering support, her understanding, and her ability to bring out the best in him were invaluable.
Soon Iida caught everyone's attention with a single classic wave of his arm, "Alright everyone, today is a free day until the dance at exactly 8pm sharp, I expect all of you to come dressed nicely and to not get into any shenanigans, but also don't forget this is a time to relax and not stress, so let's enjoy ourselves today!" His words were met with a chorus of enthusiastic cheers and applause from their classmates. The anticipation and excitement in the air were palpable as students began discussing their plans for the day. Some talked about exploring the nearby town, while others eagerly planned outings. A sense of freedom and possibility permeated the dormitory, casting a contagious energy upon its couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement himself. The prospect of a carefree day before the evening's dance was a welcomed break from the intense training and hero responsibilities they typically faced. It was a chance to recharge, have fun, and create lasting memories with his classmates. As the crowd dispersed, heading off in different directions to make the most of their free day, Midoriya caught Iida's eye and gave him a grateful nod. Iida's words had set the tone for the day—striking a balance between responsibility and enjoyment. With a renewed sense of purpose, Midoriya turned to Ochako and the rest of his friends, a wide grin stretching across his face. "Let's make the most of this day, everyone!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement. "We've got a chance to relax and have fun. Let's create memories that we'll cherish!" The group nodded in agreement, their eyes shining with anticipation. They knew that this day would be a precious gift—a chance to bond, laugh, and strengthen the already unbreakable bonds they shared. As they dispersed to embark on their own adventures, the promise of an unforgettable day hung in the air. Midoriya took a moment to savor the atmosphere, feeling grateful for the friends and experiences that had led him to this point. With a heart filled with gratitude and a spirit eager for adventure, he set off, ready to embrace the freedom of the day and seize every opportunity to create moments that would be etched in his memory for a long time.
The common room had soon been emptied with everyone now either out and about or preparing for their day, as Midoriya sat checking his phone, and gentle tap caught his attention, turning to the source he was met with two beautiful chocolatey eyes, he gave her a warm smile before speaking, "Hey Uraraka, what's up?" she returned the smile, "Nothing much, was wondering if you'd like to hang out or something before the dance. Mina and the girls all went to the mall, but I'm not a fan of spending money as a pastime so I didnt go." As Midoriya looked into Uraraka's eyes, a wave of warmth and familiarity washed over him. He couldn't help but admire her genuine nature and the way her presence always brought a sense of calm and joy to his life. "I'd love to hang out, Uraraka," Midoriya replied, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "And I agree, spending time together doesn't have to be about spending money. We can find something fun to do without breaking the bank." Uraraka's eyes lit up with excitement, and she clapped her hands together. "Great! I have an idea," she exclaimed. "How about we explore the nearby park? It's a beautiful day, and we can enjoy a picnic or play some games together. What do you think?" Midoriya nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "That sounds perfect," he said. "A relaxing day in nature with good company is exactly what I need." With their plans set, Midoriya and Uraraka made their way to the park, their laughter and easy conversation filling the air as they walked side by side.
As they arrived, they found a cozy spot under the shade of a large tree and spread out a blanket. The sound of chirping birds and the gentle rustling of leaves provided a serene backdrop to their afternoon. They spent the day playing frisbee, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other's company. Midoriya couldn't help but be in awe of Uraraka's positive energy and her ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. Their friendship had grown stronger over time, and days like these were a testament to the special bond they shared. As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the park, Midoriya and Uraraka sat side by side, dance their gazes fixed on the breathtaking colors of the sky. They reflected on the journey they had embarked upon together, the challenges they had overcome, and the dreams that continued to drive them forward. As the time approached for them to return to the dormitories and prepare for the dance, Midoriya turned to Uraraka with a soft smile. "Thank you for today," he said, his voice filled with gratitude. "This time together meant a lot to me. " Uraraka's eyes sparkled with sincerity as she replied, "Likewise, Deku. These moments with you are always special to me." With a renewed sense of friendship and shared purpose, they made their way back to the dormitories, their hearts filled with anticipation for the evening's dance. They knew that no matter what the future held, their bond would remain unbreakable, and they would always find solace and joy in each other's company.
The three then departed to their respective rooms, As Midoriya entered his room, a wave of nervous anticipation washed over him. He couldn't help but feel a tinge of anxiety about attending the dance with Uraraka. The thought of spending such an important evening together filled him with both excitement and a sense of unease.
Pacing back and forth, Midoriya couldn't shake off the butterflies in his stomach. He knew he cared deeply for Uraraka and cherished their friendship, but the idea of taking a step beyond that and potentially revealing his true feelings made him feel vulnerable.
His gaze fell upon the green tuxedo hanging in the closet, and his heart skipped a beat. He had chosen it with the intention of making a statement, but now he wondered if it was too much or if he would appear foolish in Uraraka's eyes.
Midoriya sat down on the edge of his bed, running a hand through his hair as he pondered what to do. The fear of rejection and the uncertainty of how Uraraka felt weighed heavily on his mind. What if going to the dance together changed their friendship? What if she didn't feel the same way about him? Taking a deep breath, Midoriya reminded himself that he had to face his fears. He had to be honest with himself and with Uraraka. The dance was an opportunity to share a special moment, and he didn't want to let his nerves hold him back.
Summoning his courage, Midoriya picked up the green tuxedo, slowly examining it once more. Despite his apprehension, he couldn't deny the excitement that lingered beneath the surface. He wanted to make this night memorable—for both of them. With determined resolve, Midoriya began to prepare himself for the evening. He focused on his appearance, wanting to look his best for Uraraka. As he adjusted the tie, he reminded himself that the dance was a chance to express his feelings and take a step forward, regardless of the outcome.
Taking a deep breath, Midoriya glanced at his phone, realizing he still had a bit of time before they were supposed to depart for the dance. Determined to calm his nerves, he decided to seek out his best friend for some last-minute advice and encouragement. Stepping out of his room, Midoriya began to navigate the dormitory halls, searching for the familiar face of Iida. As he walked, his mind raced with thoughts of what to say, how to act, and how to make the evening memorable.
Finally, he spotted Iida conversing with a few other classmates near the common area. Midoriya's pace quickened, and he approached them with a mix of excitement and trepidation.
"Hey, Iida," Midoriya called out, his voice carrying a hint of nervousness. "Could I have a moment? I... I could use some advice." Iida turned toward Midoriya, his face lighting up with a friendly smile. "Of course, Midoriya," he replied warmly. "What's on your mind?" Midoriya took a moment to collect his thoughts, realizing he had to articulate his feelings and concerns clearly. "Well, Iida," he began, his voice steady but tinged with vulnerability. "Since I'm going to the dance with Uraraka, I-I'm feeling really nervous about it. I don't want to mess things up or make her uncomfortable. Do you have any advice on how to approach the evening?"
Iida nodded understandingly, his expression filled with empathy. "It's completely normal to feel nervous, Midoriya," he reassured. "The most important thing is to be yourself and enjoy the moment. Remember that Uraraka agreed to go with you because she values your friendship. Just be honest, sincere, and attentive to her feelings throughout the night."
Midoriya's tension eased slightly as he absorbed Iida's words of wisdom. "Thank you, Iida," he said, gratitude evident in his voice. "Your advice means a lot to me. I'll keep that in mind and try my best." Iida clapped a hand on Midoriya's shoulder, offering an encouraging smile. "I have faith in you, Midoriya. Remember, the dance is a chance for both of you to have fun and create memories together. Embrace the moment and let your genuine connection guide you." Midoriya nodded, a newfound sense of determination burning within him. With Iida's guidance and support, he felt ready to face the dance with a renewed perspective.
Thanking Iida once again, Midoriya bid him and the others farewell, a sense of excitement now mingling with the remaining traces of nervousness. As he made his way back to his room, he felt a surge of confidence knowing that he had the support of his friends and the assurance to be true to himself.
Gathering his thoughts and taking Iida's advice to heart, Midoriya prepared himself mentally and emotionally for the night that lay ahead. He knew that the dance was not just about the nerves and uncertainty, but also an opportunity for growth, connection, and the possibility of something more with Uraraka.
With a renewed sense of purpose, Midoriya checked his appearance one last time in the mirror, straightening his tie and adjusting his green tuxedo with a newfound sense of assurance. He was ready to take this leap of faith, knowing that whatever the outcome, the dance would be a pivotal moment in their journey—an evening filled with both vulnerability and the potential for a deeper bond to form.
As the time to leave grew near Midoriya knew it was time to confront his fears and go find Ochako, as he once again began roaming the halls he bumped into a few of his friends, exchanging a quick hello with them before swiftly continuing his search, he made his way toward her room, his heart felt like it was about to burst, he raised his hand toward the door to knock.
Before he could, however, the door swung open, and there stood Uraraka, looking absolutely stunning in her carefully chosen outfit. Midoriya was momentarily stunned, his breath catching in his throat.
She wore a beautiful dress, flowing and elegant, with a soft blush color that complemented her radiant smile. The way the dress accentuated her features made Midoriya's heart skip a beat. He couldn't help but marvel at how effortlessly she exuded grace and beauty. "You're here," Uraraka said, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "I was just about to come find you."
Midoriya's voice caught in his throat, momentarily unable to find the words to express his awe. Eventually, he managed to stammer out, "Uraraka... you look absolutely amazing. I mean... wow." A blush crept across Uraraka's cheeks, and she shyly looked down for a moment. "Th-Thank you, Deku," she replied, her voice filled with a mix of gratitude and shyness. "You look pretty amazing yourself. That green tuxedo suits you perfectly." As their eyes met, Midoriya felt a warmth envelop him, a connection and understanding that went beyond words. In that moment, his nervousness faded, replaced by a profound sense of appreciation for the person standing before him.
Taking a deep breath to steady his racing heart, Midoriya offered Uraraka a soft smile. "Shall we go, Uraraka?" he asked, his voice filled with newfound confidence. Uraraka nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Yes, let's meet up with the others," she replied, her voice carrying a touch of anticipation.
Soon, Midoriya and Uraraka set off towards their friends, ready to face the night together. The stunning sight of Uraraka in her dress remained etched in Midoriya's mind, a constant reminder of the beauty that could emerge from taking a chance on love.
After meeting up with the rest of their friends, Iida did a headcount to make sure everyone was accounted for. Confirming that everyone was there, Iida took charge and set off, leading the class towards Gym Gamma, the venue for the dance. The excitement and anticipation among the students were palpable, their hearts racing with a mix of nerves and exhilaration.
As they arrived at the entrance of the danceroom, a collective gasp of awe escaped their lips. The scene before them was truly mesmerizing. The room was adorned with elegant decorations, twinkling lights, and colorful banners, creating an enchanting ambiance. The air was filled with the joyful chatter and laughter of hundreds of students who had gathered to celebrate.
Midoriya and his classmates marveled at the sight, their eyes wide with wonder. The dance floor was alive with energetic dancers, gracefully moving to the rhythm of the music. The aroma of delicious snacks filled the air, courtesy of Lunch Rush, tempting the students to indulge between dances. The punch bowls gleamed, inviting them to refresh themselves.
Taking in the lively atmosphere, Midoriya felt a surge of excitement mingled with a touch of nervousness. He looked at Uraraka, who stood beside him, and they exchanged a reassuring smile. They were ready to embrace the night, to immerse themselves in the magic of the dance.
Iida, with his natural flair for organization, led the way, guiding their class through the crowd. The students formed small groups, finding their spots to dance, chat, or enjoy the festivities. Midoriya and Uraraka joined their friends, feeling a sense of belonging and camaraderie as they intermingled with their classmates.
As Midoriya took Uraraka's hand and stepped onto the dance floor, the music engulfed them, at first they were an embarrassed, nervous wreck, stumbling over each other's feet. Soon Ochako spoke up "Here Deku, let's try something different" Uraraka suggested with a warm smile, her eyes encouraging and full of kindness. Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, he nodded. He trusted Uraraka, he knew she wouldn't judge him for the initial awkwardness. They were friends, after all, and this was a moment of vulnerability they were experiencing together. With a newfound sense of confidence, Uraraka guided Midoriya through the steps, leading him with a gentle touch. They started slow, matching the pace of the music. The initial hesitance faded away as they found their rhythm, Midoriya's nerves began to dissipate, replaced by the exhilaration of being in Uraraka's presence. Their movements soon became synced, their steps becoming a reflection of their connection and shared excitement.
Both Midoriya and Uraraka became so engrossed in the music and the rhythm that time seemed to stand still for them. They moved across the dance floor, their steps nearly perfectly in sync, as if they were the only two people in the room. Their chemistry and connection were undeniable, drawing the attention of their friends and fellow students.
As the music swelled and the crowd watched in awe, the dance floor gradually emptied, and all eyes were fixed on Midoriya and Uraraka. Whispers of admiration and encouragement filled the air, mingling with the sounds of their friends cheering them on.
Midoriya's cheeks flushed with a mix of exhilaration and bashfulness. He never anticipated that their dance would captivate the attention of everyone around them. As Midoriya and Uraraka enjoyed their refreshing punch, their laughter and light-hearted conversations filled the air. They savored the sweet taste, the coolness providing a momentary respite from the energetic atmosphere of the dancefloor.
As they finished their drinks, the music suddenly shifted, transitioning into a slow and somber melody. The lively energy of the room softened, replaced by a more intimate and contemplative ambiance. Midoriya's eyes widened in surprise as he recognized the change in tone.
He turned to Uraraka, his gaze filled with curiosity. "Uraraka, would you like to dance?" he asked, his voice gentle and sincere.
Uraraka met his gaze, her expression mirroring his surprise. A hint of uncertainty flickered in her eyes before a soft smile curved her lips. "I'd love to," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Their hands instinctively found each other's, and they made their way to the center of the dancefloor. The crowd around them respectfully created space, understanding the shift in atmosphere. The slow, melodic tune wrapped around them like a comforting embrace, inviting them to sway together, lost in their own world.
Midoriya's heart raced as he pulled Uraraka closer, his hand resting gently on the small of her back. The room seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in a tender embrace. Their movements were slow and deliberate, matching the rhythm of the music that enveloped them.
In the dimly lit room, their eyes locked, and a silent conversation unfolded between them. They spoke without words, their expressions conveying a depth of emotions that words could never fully capture. There was vulnerability, trust, and an unspoken connection that seemed to strengthen with each step they took.
As they moved in harmony, Midoriya couldn't help but notice the warmth of Uraraka's touch, the way her presence made him feel grounded and safe. They danced as if time had ceased to exist, their bodies swaying together in perfect synchronization.
The slow-dance song held a bittersweet quality, its melancholic melody tugging at their heartstrings. Yet, at that moment, Midoriya couldn't imagine being anywhere else. The world outside faded away, and all that mattered was the person in his arms.
As the song reached its final notes, they held each other a little tighter, cherishing the closeness and the fleeting beauty of the moment. The room erupted in gentle applause, acknowledging the tenderness and vulnerability they had shared on the dancefloor.
