Chapter One - When It Comes To You, I'm Just Another Woman In Love

Lily drummed her fingernails over the table in the head's common room. 'I'm pathetic.' She didn't need a mirror to see that. Slowly the time went by, too slowly. She looked at the fading light streaming through window yet again. 'Where is he?' She hated herself for being so needy. Lily Evans was not needy, she was independent to a fault. Yet here she was biding her time until he appeared. Lily glanced at her watch just as the portrait swung open. She forced herself to calm down, she took a deep breath to even out her hammering heartbeat. His windswept hair, lopsided smile, and tight shirt made liquid heat pool in her lower abdomen. Lily picked up her quill and tried to make it look like she was had at work instead of waiting for him. She bit at her bottom lip to draw his attention to her lips. She heard his breath hitch as she released the lip and ran her tongue over it. Then she looked up, acting as though she hadn't been waiting for him to waltz in. "Oh James, Dumbledore wants us to start working on plans for the Yule Ball."

James came into the common room after a little Quidditch practice. Not that he was out of shape, but he wasn't about to lose the house cup his final year because of added responsibilities. 'I wonder if Lily's around.' He hadn't had his fill of ogling her today. He could look at her forever and it wouldn't be enough. His eyes found her sitting on the couch with a scroll and book in-front of her, a quill in her hand… 'She's going to be the death of me.' He shuddered as he watched her tongue travel across her bottom lip leaving a trail of moisture. He wanted nothing more than to run his tongue where hers had been. Then she spoke his name. The first time she called him James he felt it in every fiber of his being. Now everytime she said his name It was almost a purr and he couldn't get enough of it. Her voice was breathy and deep tonight. It was pure torture. James reached up and ran his hand through his hair. "I have a few ideas…"

Lily stifled a yawn several hours later causing James to check the clock. "Bloody hell! It's after midnight. We should probably leave this for now and get some sleep yeah." He stretched his arms over his head and thought he caught Lily checking him, but that wasn't likely. Not that he wasn't attractive, but Lily Evans seemed to be immune to his charms. Unfortunately.

Lily pinched herself to keep from moaning when his shirt rode up as he reached up over his head. Seeing that dark trail of hair leading into his trousers was making her body flush with heat. She forced herself to start putting away the books and scrolls she'd had out to do homework before he came in. *Sigh* 'Did he just sigh?' Her eyes made their way to his. He was standing above her looking down at her. It was then she realized at this angle you could see a good amount of her chest. She immediately stood and rolled her eyes, "You're such a guy." Lily swatted his arm and tried to sound more angry, but her smile gave her away.

James laughed and rubbed the arm she hit in mock pain. "You know Lily, for someone who's against violence you sure like to hit at me." He was just teasing her, he had no problem with Lily touching him in any way. 'I just wish she'd touch me for reasons other than to swat me.' He grinned at her indignation. He always found her sexy when she as angry. A real fire goddess. Her eyes would glow like green embers, her face would flush lessening the severity of her freckles, and her mouth would pout showing off the fullness of her lips.

Lily turned her heated gaze on him. "I do not hit." She dropped her bag and walked the two steps towards him. 'He's bloody smirking!' She could feel the heat of his body, another half step and she would be pressed against him. Suddenly she wasn't angry. Her reactions changed completely in a moment. 'I need to step back before I do something stupid.' She looked down to keep James from reading her emotions.

James saw her eyes dilate a second before she looked down. 'Not possible.' He told himself as he gently grabbed her chin and lifted her gaze to him. "Lily, open your eyes." Though he had lifted her face she had yet to open her eyes.

Lily was in a panic, her pulse was racing. 'Nothing has changed, I need to nip it in the bud.' As long as James thought she didn't want him, he was safe. Now because of a moments weakness, it was all for nothing. She yanked her face away and stared at the floor feeling his eyes on her.

James ran a hand through his hair almost ripping it out in frustration. "How long have you fancied me?" He saw her flinch at his tone. He softened his voice. "Lily." He paused placing a hand on her shoulder. "How long?" He wanted to force her to look at him. He needed to see her eyes. She had the most expressive eyes in creation and not seeing them was akin to placing a meal in-front of a starving man and telling him not to eat.

'He won't understand.' Lily chewed on her bottom lip nervously. "It doesn't matter. It has to be this way." She tried to reach for her bag to leave when he grasped her chin again raising it.

"Look at me." James commanded gently. "Please." He laid feather light kisses over her eyes, "Lily, open your eyes." James moved his thumb to caress her full bottom lip. "Lily." He was begging and he knew it, but he needed to see the truth in her eyes.

Lily took a deep breath and opened her eyes slowly. This was the first time in a long time she didn't try to hide her feelings from showing in her eyes. She let him see it all. Tears formed at the corners of her eyes. After a moment, or was it an eternity, Lily put her hand over James' on her chin. "I can't." She turned away and ran into her room and shut the door. She laid her back against the door. 'He knows now.' She placed her finger over her chin where he had touched her. 'I'm doomed.' James Potter was know for his persistence, especially when it came to her. She let her head fall back hitting the wood of the door.

James lost himself as he saw the swirl of emotions in her eyes. It was incredible. 'Incredibly beautiful.' Those eyes said so much. There was desire and love, fear and longing. He never wanted to kiss her more than that moment. Almost as if she could read his mind she pulled away and ran to her room. James watched her disappear and started forming a plan in his mind.
