Hello, yes I am back from the dead after 1.5 years. No explanation as to why it's taken me forever, except that I pushed fanfiction to the side for a while. I don't wanna go too in depth, because it doesn't matter because I am BACK with a new chapter. I've had this chapter sitting for a year, and finally cleaned and edited it up and I'm so happy to finally have it out.

So here is chapter 54. Enjoy!

It has been a little more than a year now since they moved in together, and life was just so great for Alvin and Brittany. Of course, there were ups and downs, and there were many things they were still learning about their relationship, about each other, about being parents, raising a child, and everything else in between, but they were on this journey together. They had each other, and it was just like they have ever wanted, just like they've always imagined.

It was a cool, but sunny morning when Brittany woke up to the feeling of something touching her face. She yawned and tried waving it away, but then something touched her nose and then her cheeks. Just when she thought she was having some sort of vivid dream, she heard a small giggle, an adorable and angel-like giggle, which brought her out of her sleepy state of mind. She slowly opened up her eyes, only to find the pretty gold eyes of her two year old daughter, staring at her.

Melody's eyes gleamed when she saw that Brittany had woken up, and the sight of it made her heart swell a hundred times bigger. Seeing her child first thing in the morning never got old, and it always was the best way to start her day. She really couldn't believe her baby was now two years old; time really does fly. Where she once had a tiny, precious infant that snuggled right between her arms, she now had a gorgeous, playful, loving, and not to mention, a little stubborn and a little rambunctious, two year old toddler. People weren't kidding when they said that she and Alvin would have a hard time keeping up once their daughter starts walking and running, but watching her little girl grow everyday was just the most incredible thing in the world.

Melody giggled again before throwing herself at Brittany, and wrapping her arms around her mother's neck to hug her good morning. "Mama, wakey!"

Brittany laughed before hugging her daughter and planting the biggest kiss on her chubby cheek. "I'm awake, I'm awake," Brittany smiled. She sat up in her bed, and pulled her daughter into her lap before reaching over to fix Melody's hair. "You always have so much energy in the morning, huh."

"Sweepy, mama?" asked Melody.

"Very sleepy, because a certain troublemaker kept waking up in the middle of the night," Brittany said, before tickling her daughter, which sent the little one into a fit of laughter. "You really kept mommy and daddy up all night, baby."

Melody gave her mother the most innocent smile, and it was truly hard to discipline her when she was that cute. Melody has been sleeping in her own room for a year now, ever since she and her parents moved into their new home. Most times, it was easy getting her to sleep on her own; sometimes when her parents wanted to cuddle her, she would become a little cranky and refuse to leave her own bed. But other times, she wanted nothing more than to be with her parents, whether that be in the ungodly hours of the night when both of her parents were sleeping, and yesterday just so happened to be one of those nights.

Last night, around 5am, and it was the third time that Melody had woken up crying. Knowing that there was no point in trying to lull their baby back to sleep, knowing that she would just wake up again an hour later, Alvin took it upon himself to stay with Melody in her room. Melody didn't fall back asleep until a little past 6am, because she was just too fussy, tired, hungry, cranky, yet playful, and Alvin was exhausted. But by the time 6:30am hit and the sun was slowly starting to rise, Alvin passed out in the armchair with Melody snuggled in his lap.

"Your daddy must be so tired," frowned Brittany. "Speaking of, where is he?"

"Daddy?" Melody's eyes widened as she tilted her head.

"Mhm," said Brittany. "Is your father up to no good again?"

"Dada there, mama!" Melody squealed as she pointed to her parent's bedroom door. "Dada there!"

Brittany raised an eyebrow as she looked at the closed door, and before she could say anything, she watched it open before Alvin walked inside, with a tray of what seemed like breakfast, in his hands. He was chuckling to himself as he walked into the bedroom, and he couldn't help the grin on his face when he saw both Brittany and Melody turn to him.

"That wasn't exactly how we rehearsed it, princess, but um, surprise?" he said, a little sheepishly. He walked over to them, before placing the tray on the bed in front of Brittany and Melody; it had a plate of pancakes and fresh fruit and a glass of orange juice. He turned to Brittany, and saw that she was already looking at him, which made him smile back. "We decided to make you breakfast in bed."

Brittany felt her heart swell; despite knowing Alvin for over a decade, and despite them being together for over a year now, she still felt herself swoon at all the little things he did for her. She could feel how much he loves her, because she feels it oh, so much more for him. "What's the occasion?" she asked.

"Nothing. Man, can't a guy make his girlfriend breakfast out of the goodness of his own heart?" Alvin teased rather sarcastically, which made Brittany roll her eyes a bit. "I did all the cooking, of course, and Melody helped just by being cute."

She raised an eyebrow at Alvin. "Should I assume that these pancakes are safe to eat?" she asked.

"Obviously. Get ready to eat the best damn pancakes you've ever had in your life," he said as he sat down on the edge of the bed. "But um, please don't go into the kitchen just yet."

Brittany sighed out loud. "Lemme guess. My kitchen is a mess?"

"Define mess..."

"Depends on how angry I'll be once I see it," she said.

"Well, then you better stay here then," he said, laughing when he saw the look of annoyance on Brittany's face. "But, good morning, babe."

Brittany rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but smile. "Good morning. I don't think I've ever had breakfast in bed before, so thank you, both of you," she said, before reaching over to give him a quick kiss. She pulled away and noticed that Alvin's eyes were a little bloodshot and tired. "Did you sleep at all last night?"

Alvin shrugged. "Not really. I slept in the armchair in Melody's room, so my neck is kinda killing me right now. I don't even remember what time I'd fallen asleep. 6:30 maybe?"

"6:30 in the morning?" Brittany's eyes went wide. "Then what time did you wake up?"

"Just a bit before 9am," said Alvin.

Brittany sighed; she felt horrible for him, but her heart melted just a little. He always did so much for her, despite how tired and exhausted he could be sometimes. Although it's been a while, it still amazed Brittany how much Alvin has changed. Of course, he is still the same wild, fun and reckless guy he has been his entire life, but he knows when to be an adult when needed.

"You need to get some sleep, Alvin," she said, and it was a good thing they both had the day off today. "How about I take Melody out today, while you stay and catch up on some sleep?"

"Nah, I'm good. It's almost as if you forgot who you're talking to, Britt. Or did you forget that your boyfriend is the Alvin Seville, the one who can stay up for multiple nights in a row after partying nonstop? The guy who is notorious for blacking out in the most unimaginable places you could ever think of?" he smirked.

"Oh, I didn't forget," she rolled her eyes. "But that Alvin Seville, the one who I've seen fall asleep at the edge of a dock at the beach, drunk out of his mind, didn't have a family to take care of. The Alvin Seville that I know today can barely stay up past 1am while we hang out with our friends in our own living room - sober."

He felt a little embarrassed, because shit, she was right. He can't exactly wild out like he used to anymore. "Damn, way to call me out," he muttered, before adjusting his position so that he could be sitting next to her. He watched as Melody climbed out of Brittany's lap, before plopping into his, and cuddling up in her father's arms. "How is it?"

"Delicious," said Brittany, as she took another bite of her breakfast. She cut up a smaller piece before reaching over to feed Melody, whose eyes were big as she watched her mother eat. "You're still hungry, Melody?"

Melody giggled and nodded her head. "Pancake yummy, mama. I hwelp dada make pancake."

Brittany laughed and felt her heart explode. It was only a few months ago where Melody started talking in short sentences, trying her best to converse with her parents to the best of her ability. Their daughter is only two, yet she was so intelligent and it amazed Alvin and Brittany every time. Ever since she was a baby, Jeanette, Eleanor and even Dave would take turns reading to her almost every single night. Now that she's a toddler, Simon, Jeanette and Theodore spend a lot of time teaching her small words, while Miss Miller taught her how to read numbers and the alphabet. Of course, it was still mainly lines and scribbles in Melody's eyes, but the help of their family certainly impacted how well she was growing up.

"Oh, did you now," Brittany reached over to caress her little girl's cheek. "Did you have fun?"

"Mhm!" Melody gleamed and nodded, her cheeks full of pancake.

Brittany sighed out loud. "I don't know how you're completely wide awake and full of energy after being up all night, Melody Rose. You really are your father's twin, aren't you?" she couldn't help but laugh.

Melody really did take after Alvin's energetic and rambunctious side. She was so much like her father, it was almost insane. Back when Melody was a baby, she truly had Alvin wrapped around her finger, and everyone could see instantly how much of a daddy's girl she was. Alvin was her best friend; they became best friends the moment she laid eyes on her father for the very first time. And Melody was certainly Alvin's whole world; he would do anything and everything for his little girl. Their friends and family had told Brittany not to worry, because all babies, especially little girls, go through a phase where their father is their favorite person on the entire planet, however now that her daughter is two, she can tell that that phase was going to last forever. And Brittany didn't mind; she kind of got used to it, to a point where seeing Alvin and Melody was truly her most favorite thing in the world.

"You're so cute, baby," Brittany smiled, reaching over to wipe Melody's cheek. "I don't know what I did to deserve a daughter as perfect and loving as you, but we love you so much. You know that me and daddy love you so, so much, right?"

"More than anything," Alvin chuckled as he placed a kiss on top of Melody's head. "But you gotta stop growing up so fast, princess! Where did mine and mommy's tiny little girl go?"

"I here!" Melody laughed.

"Are you sure? Last I checked, my daughter was still a baby and couldn't even walk or talk yet," Alvin laughed. "You, on the other hand, can't go a day without running around the house and tiring yourself out. Are you sure you're the same baby?"

Melody nodded before climbing out of Alvin's lap to wrap her arms around his neck in a loving hug. "Is me, dada!" she giggled.

"Alright, alright, if you say so," Alvin teased as he hugged his daughter back.

Melody let go before going to sit in between her parents, and pulling the blanket and lying down against Alvin's knee. "Mama, we sleep?"

"We just woke up, silly," Brittany took another bite. "You're tired because you stayed up all night. How about we take a nap after we clean up the kitchen?"

"Hmm, about that," Alvin interjected. "We don't have time for sleep today, Britt. You better finish your breakfast soon, and get ready."

She paused mid-bite and looked at him. "...For what?"

"I'll explain that later. But I need you to put on your best outfit. Trust me," he said, giving her a sly wink.

She slightly rolled her eyes. "I don't think you understand the way you induce fear into me every time you say that."

"By the looks in your eyes, I can tell," he snickered.

"Seriously, Alvin..." she sighed. She watched Alvin take Melody into his arms before he stood up. "Mel, do you know what daddy is up to?"

But her little girl just smiled cutely, as her and her father started to make their way to the door.

"Just finish your breakfast, Britt. We'll see you downstairs in an hour," Alvin said, with a slight taunt in his voice, before disappearing out the bedroom door.

Brittany walked downstairs an hour later, after getting ready. She had missed the feeling of getting dolled up, doing her hair and makeup and making sure she was the prettiest one in the room wherever she went. Becoming a mom definitely didn't allow her to get all dressed up as much as she used to, so - although she has no idea why the hell she was getting dolled up in the first place - she did enjoy doing her hair and makeup a little more glamourous today.

She walked into her kitchen and found Alvin. He looked up when she walked in and gave her a smile, in which Brittany sighed out loud. He really was something, and Brittany was dying to know what he was up to this time. Of course she was suspicious; first of all, it wasn't even noon and he was telling her to get ready as if they were going to some sort of party. Second, he has pulled so many secrets around her, that it was impossible to even narrow down what was up his sleeve. And third, well, this was Alvin Seville, of all people. She didn't really know what to expect.

"What?" he smirked.

"Nothing," she rolled her eyes before walking over to him. She noticed that he, too, was dressed up a little nicer than usual. "What are you up to this time, Alvin?"

"Why do you always assume that I'm up to something?" he asked.

"Seriously?" she scoffed before crossing her arms over her chest. "Because you usually are!"

"Y'know, babe," he said, before pulling her closer to him. "You should really learn to trust me more often. When have I ever steered you wrong?"

"Where do I even begin?" she rolled her eyes, but she let out a small sigh and wrapped her arms around Alvin's neck. "I've known you for over 15 years, Alvin Seville. I know you inside and out, probably more than you know yourself. I know your strengths and weaknesses, your ambitions and fears, and what you're good at, and what you need to improve on. But...there is one thing that you never fail at, one thing you are extremely talented in."

"Yeah?" he smirked. "And what's that?"

Brittany leaned towards his ear and whispered the dirtiest thing she has probably ever said, before pulling away to see his reaction. Alvin's eyes grew a little wide, and he had to admit, it sort of caught him off guard, which never happened to him. He felt himself internally sweat, as Brittany gave him the most stunning, yet evil grin. Crazy how, despite them being together for a while now, that their sex drive was as high as ever, if not, worse.

"Damn, I'm a little insulted that you think that's the one thing I'm good at. Being a good boyfriend and dad doesn't make the list?" Alvin joked.

"It does. But I like the things you do to me, personally," she whispered in his ear, grinning darkly again.

"Shit. Brittany Miller's got a bit of a filthy mouth, huh," he smirked a little. "Are you seriously that horny right now?"

"Well, I was a little lonely last night, sleeping by myself, so..." she pouted a little before trailing her fingers from Alvin's chest, to the zipper of his pants. "...a little."

"Fuck," he chuckled under his breath before leaning in towards her ear. "I am this close to ripping that outfit off of you."

"Well, I would kill you, because this skirt was expensive," she said, before turning her head to look at him. "But it is really easy to take off. Wanna try?"

Alvin chuckled again. "As much as I would love to do many, many things to you right now..." he smirked when he saw Brittany's reaction. "...we can't, because I can hear both of your sisters coming in three, two..."

And like he mentioned, a few footsteps were approaching the kitchen, and a few seconds later, Jeanette and Eleanor walked in, with Melody in Eleanor's arms. The two froze for half a second, before Jeanette reached over to cover Melody's eyes, shielding her from looking at her parents who were standing way, way too close to one another.

"Were we...interrupting something?" Jeanette asked teasingly.

"No! Of course not," Brittany fired, as she quickly distanced herself from Alvin, as if hoping that her sisters didn't see a single thing.

"Mhm, sure. Y'know, with the way you two just cannot keep your hands off one another, it is shocking that Melody is still an only child," Eleanor teased, before turning to her little niece, who was smiling cutely up at her.

"Whatever," Brittany rolled her eyes, but failed to hide the burning blush that had appeared on her cheeks. "Anyway, um, not that I'm not excited to see you both here, because I am...but what are you guys doing here and how did you get in my house?"

"Alvin let us in, and we're here to babysit Melody, duh," Eleanor said, almost as if it was extremely obvious. She smiled at her niece and gave her a little cuddle. "Isn't that right, cutie pie? Are you excited to spend a whole day with me and aunt Jeanette?"

Melody let out a big giggle, and it was truly the most enchanting sound.

"Babysit? For what?" she asked, before turning to Alvin. "Okay, what's going on?"

Alvin laughed. "Babe, how come every time I try and do something nice, you always act as if I'm up to something suspicious?"

"Because it's YOU we're talking about. Why wouldn't I be suspicious?" fired Brittany.

"Damn, can't a guy take his girlfriend out without being interrogated?" he chuckled. "I just want us to spend the day together, Britt. We haven't had an actual proper date in so long. We've been so busy with work, and with being parents, that I just thought it would be nice if the two of us had a bit of time for ourselves. Like, when was the last time you and I actually went on a date?"

Brittany opened her mouth to say something, but quickly closed it when she realized that she couldn't remember the last time she and Alvin spent the day to themselves without someone in their family tagging along. She sighed before looking at her sisters and daughter, then back at Alvin. "Well, I guess you're right..."

"I'm always right," he smirked. "Now, c'mon, I'll meet you in the car."

He walked past her without giving her a moment to respond, kissed Melody on the forehead, before walking out. Brittany sighed again and rolled her eyes before grabbing her small purse from the kitchen table, but not before she eyed her two sisters, who were both staring at her.

"...What?" asked Jeanette.

"You two know what he's up to, don't you?" Brittany glared at them.

"Oh my god, Britt," Eleanor rolled her eyes. "No one is up to anything. You're the only one who thinks something is going on."

"Yeah. Alvin asked us to come over and babysit so that you two could go out, that's all," said Jeanette. "Now go, he's waiting. We'll see you when you get back, okay?"

"Fine. I guess I'll see you guys later," Brittany said, before kissing her daughter goodbye, and walking out the door to find Alvin already in his car. She got into the passenger seat and eyed him carefully, to see if he would break under pressure, but as expected, he just ignored her.

"Is that death glare you're giving me doing you any good?" he asked, as he started the car.

"You're so annoying," she said.

"Hmm, you've known me for over a decade, and you're just figuring that out now?" he smirked. He turned to her and met her irritated glare, before reaching over to give her a quick kiss. "It's gonna be a fun day, babe. Just follow my lead."

The car ride took about 20 minutes, and when Brittany realized where they were, she certainly felt a little confused.

"We're at the Onyx Throne?" Brittany asked, as she stared at the front entrance of the nightclub and bar that she has been to many, many, many times. It was one of the nicer, more sophisticated clubs in the area, a little fancier than most, and definitely one of her favorite places to hang out.

"Yeah," he said simply.

"...Why?" she asked.

"Why not?" he replied.

Okay, there was definitely something going on. One, she has been to this club too many times to know that it doesn't open until 5pm, at the earliest, and it was only a little past noon. And two, although she and Alvin are both fans of partying and nightclubbing, it was a little odd that he was taking her here as a midday date.

"I thought this place doesn't open until the evening?" she asked.

"Well, it's a good thing your boyfriend knows how to pull a few strings and convince the owner to open a bit earlier," said Alvin.

"Oh. I mean, not that I'm not happy to be here, because I honestly don't care where we are, I just wanna spend the day with you, but earlier when you said that you wanted to have a day to ourselves, clubbing wasn't exactly what I had in mind..." said Brittany.

"I thought so," he grinned, before getting out of the car.

Brittany glared at him. What the hell was that supposed to mean? God, he was so fucking irritating sometimes. However, she said nothing more before getting out the car herself, taking his hand in hers, and having him lead them to the front doors.

"C'mon," he smiled as he pulled her along with him. "Trust me."

Brittany rolled her eyes. The two words she always feared every time he said them. But nonetheless, she followed him into the club, and immediately noticed that it was pitch black, quiet, and there wasn't a soul in sight. And just when she was about to open her mouth to ask Alvin for the billionth time, what the hell was going on, the lights flashed open, a confetti cannon went off, and a huge group of people, whom she instantly recognized as her group of friends, Alvin's friends, a bunch of their mutual friends, and their closest coworkers, popped out of nowhere before screaming-

"SURPRISE!"

Brittany's eyes widened, and her heart instantly started racing from the immense jumpscare that occurred within five seconds. Music started playing, and people started cheering and calling her name, and all Brittany could do was stare.

"Surprise, Britt," smiled Alvin. "Happy birthday."

She turned to him. "My birthday was a month ago. We already celebrated with our families," she said, as if to remind him.

He rolled his eyes. "I know. But all we had was a birthday dinner, which was nice and all, but that was it. You definitely deserve a bigger celebration than that, Britt, so I decided to plan this."

"Really?" she asked.

"Hell yeah," grinned Alvin. "You were the fucking queen of birthday parties, remember? You - other than myself, of course - always threw the best, most insane birthday parties ever. And besides, it has been a while since either of us threw a massive party, so this was the perfect chance to do so. I invited everyone. Everyone you know is here. This is your day, babe."

God, it was things like this that made her so fucking in love with him, more than she already was. It had nothing to do with the party itself, but the fact that Alvin took the time to plan something, for her, that he went through all this, just to make her happy. It doesn't really surprise her, because she knows that Alvin is the type of person who goes above and beyond for the ones he loves the most, but it was just the best feeling ever to know that he is hers. Brittany smiled, before reaching up to wrap her arms around his neck, and giving him a kiss, which earned a lot of cheers from their friends behind them.

"This isn't an excuse to get me to day drink, is it?" she asked.

"Nope. And besides, isn't it a bit too early to be drinking?" he paused as his eyes grew wide. "...Wait, did I really just say that?"

"Who the hell are you and what have you done to Alvin Seville?" Brittany laughed, before sighing and turning to him. "We really need to get you a beer or something. You seem deprived, babe."

"You can say that again," he laughed.

"You really didn't have to do all this for me," she said to him.

"I know. But I wanted to," he smiled and shrugged a little. "Just a small way of saying that I love you, and that I appreciate everything you've done over the past year. And the fact that we made it a whole year living with each other without killing one another? That's one more reason to celebrate, don't you think?"

Brittany laughed. "A hundred percent."

Alvin smiled at her. "And I figured that we both need a little break from being parents for a bit, and what other way to celebrate than to have a wild ass party with our friends?"

"Well, in that case, I've been dying for a vodka soda for ages now," she said. She gave Alvin another kiss, before skipping away to hug her group of best friends, before going over to greet everyone else that was there.

30 minutes had barely passed, and Brittany had just gotten through saying hello to all the people at the party. Just when she and her friends were going to make their way to the bar, the music suddenly came to a stop, and the dim lights turned brighter, illuminating the room and eliminating the nightclub atmosphere.

At first, Brittany thought the power went out, until she looked around to find Alvin, only to find him standing front and center in front of the speakers, with a mic in his hand. Everyone's conversations soon stopped, before looking around the room in confusion, before all their eyes landed on Alvin as well.

"Is this thing on? Oh, shit, it is, okay great," he said, after tapping the mic a few times. "Sorry for stopping the party all of a sudden, but I just wanna take a few moments to say a few words, if that's cool. Okay, you all know I'm not one for speeches and shit. To anyone who was ever paired up with me in high school for a speech or debate, you guys know what I'm talking about. I was probably the reason we failed. You all know I love to talk, that I talk way too much sometimes to a point where people beg for me to shut up, but speeches are my personal vendetta," Alvin started, earning a few laughs from the crowd. "However, there is only one person I would do this for, one person I would stay up until 4am for, blank minded with two cups of coffee in front of my laptop, trying to write down a somewhat decent excuse of a speech, and that's you, Brittany."

He turned to her, along with everybody else. Brittany was always the type of person who loved the attention, loved it when the spotlight was on her, but knowing that everybody's eyes were on her this exact moment made her want to melt away into a pool of embarrassment.

"I don't really know where to begin, but...we've really come a long way, Brittany. I mean, seriously. How the hell do I even begin to explain the insane journey we've been on? A lot of people here have known us since we were kids, a lot of people have witnessed the strange friendship we've always had with each other, but nobody, absolutely nobody will ever understand it the way we do. We met each other as kids, and I knew, from the moment I met you over a decade ago, that I wanted to piss you off and get on your nerves for the rest of your life, but little did I know that you would piss me off even more, every single day," Alvin said with a chuckle. "But I also knew you were special. I have never met anybody who's energy matched mine, who had an ego as big as mine, and an attitude that was worse than mine. I never thought it would be possible to come across a person who is able to stand their ground against me, isn't afraid to speak their mind around me, and somebody who doesn't change who they are, around me, til I met you, Britt."

Brittany felt her heart flutter, but she, along the rest of the crowd, continued to listen.

"We spent the first few years of knowing each other as best friends. Best friends who argued and fought and made each other cry and scream, but best friends who cared and protected one another, who sat in the backyard until 5am talking to each other when they had a bad day, best friends who leaned on each other regardless of what fight they had that morning. Our relationship as friends was different and unique, but it has really been a crazy experience. Little did we know that our friendship would just be the beginning of the wild, messed up, somewhat fucked up, painful yet incredible story we were gonna go through."

Alvin's voice grew softer, and the crowd around them did too. She placed her drink on the table in front of her, and turned to look at her friends, who were standing next to her. They all had their attention on Alvin, except for her best friend Erin, who turned to Brittany, and gave her a soft smile, an almost heartwarming smile, before Alvin continued to speak.

"We barely left each other's sides as kids, to a point where it drove our family insane. Whether we were fighting or laughing as we read a comic book together in a corner - sometime all within the same hour, we were hardly ever apart. However, when we started to grow up, we changed. As most teenagers do, we grew up a little, and grew apart in high school. Friends, parties, popularity and so much more made us change, and it made us grow up. Where we once spent almost every waking moment together, turned into the complete opposite. We went out of our way to avoid one another, went out of our way to pretend the other didn't exist. When we grew apart, I thought I was okay with it, when I really wasn't. I went through a lot of...phases that I'm not exactly proud of, created a reputation for myself that I don't like looking back on, because I thought I was grown up. It was just the mere beginning of what would become the worst version of myself, because I had lost the one person who could talk sense into me. I no longer had the one person who was able to balance me out, and again, I thought I was okay with it because I wanted to prove a point that I was better off without the girl I used to call my best friend. I didn't want to admit that those were the years that I needed her the most."

At this point, the crowd was completely silent. Alvin paused for a second to look at Brittany. He smiled just a little, and it set her heart on fire.

"So, it was about three years ago when the fucking universe decided to be a bitch and intervene with our lives. I'm sure most people here know what happened, but one night, three years ago, Brittany and I were both at a party. Just some regular, wild, booze filled party. She came with her friends, and I went with mine. Funny thing was, I wasn't even planning on going to that party, because there was another party downtown that I wanted to go to, but the guys convinced me to go, so I went. And for once, I'm glad I actually listened to my asshole friends, because if it weren't for me and Brittany being at the same party, well, things might've been a little different," Alvin chuckled, as he nodded towards his group of best friends.

Brittany turned to the side where she saw Ryan, Ivan, Oscar and Tyler, Alvin's best friends. They've played such a huge part in Alvin's journey, good and bad, but Brittany knew by the smile on their faces that they were all so proud of who Alvin has become today.

"So, if you guys know me and Brittany, then you know that we party hard," Alvin said with a chuckle. "We did what we did best that night at the party; we got on each other's nerves and picked a fight with each other for no reason at all. But throw alcohol in the mix, and you're really gonna get the worst out of us. We drank so much that we didn't know what the hell was going on around us, or what the hell was even happening, or what we were about to do."

A few people in the crowd laughed, along with a few wolf whistles which made Brittany burn up in embarrassment on the inside. Alvin chuckled under his breath before continuing.

"The morning after, aside from the insane hangover that we woke up with, coming to realization of what the hell we had done the night before was pretty traumatic. We really took the term 'sleeping with the enemy' to a whole other level," smirked Alvin, which earned a laugh from the crowd. "We both promised to act as if that night had never happened, but of course, that didn't go very well. I remember getting a call from Simon, who was out having lunch with both of your sisters. I had just come home from a long night out, and wanted nothing more than to sleep, but I remember picking up the phone and my brother going, 'Jeanette accidentally told us. Why didn't you say anything?' and when I went 'What the hell are you talking about?', Simon responded, 'Wait...you don't know? You got Brittany pregnant.'" Alvin paused and chuckled. "I really thought he was lying, because there was just no way in hell. Absolutely no fucking way. But then I went over to your place, and confronted you, and the look in your eyes told me everything."

He looked at her again, watching as she watched him, and he swore, he has never been so in love. Despite the crowd of people watching him, all he could see was her.

"I remember talking to you about it for the first time. You didn't know what the hell to do, and I didn't either. We've gotten ourselves into some pretty crazy shit over the past years, but this one topped it all. How the hell were we gonna get out of this one? How the fuck did we manage to get ourselves in a situation like this? We weren't even friends anymore. We didn't like each other, and we had a lot of growing up to do. How the hell were we supposed to have a child, when we couldn't even take care of ourselves? When we couldn't even tolerate each other? It was the first time, ever, where I saw you so vulnerable, the first time where we opened up to each other without fighting, and I told you, no matter what your decision will be, that I would be there to support you, no matter what."

Brittany told herself that she was going to make it through without tearing up. But goddamn, that last sentence truly hit her so deeply, because it was nothing more than true. Without him by her side, she wouldn't know what the hell she would have done.

"Months went by, and I watched you grow as a person. You were once scared and unsure about parenthood, unsure whether you were ready and capable to take care of a child that just appeared out of nowhere, and I watched you grow into someone who absolutely loved the idea of motherhood, and I've never seen you happier. I felt the same, but for a few different reasons, I guess. We fought many times throughout your pregnancy, but that was only because we started to feel something for one another, something that we've never felt before for anybody else. I would've never yelled and argued with you to a point where you were crying in front of me, if I didn't feel anything. But it was because I cared, I cared way too much," Alvin took a deep sigh. "And when we shared our first, actual kiss, and told me that you wanted to keep our child, I knew, from that moment, that you had done the impossible, Britt. For the first time in my life, I actually...fell in love. Deeply in love, without even knowing."

"But I knew, because it hurt every time we said goodbye, it hurt to be the one to end our phone calls, and it hurt to see you cry," said Alvin. "We went through hell, just months before we were expecting our baby. We went through shit that no one will understand. It was my fault, and I know that. I had relapsed, and you still stayed by my side. I was hitting rock bottom, and you still tried to save me. I was ruining my own life, and you still risked your own to save mine. But it was a moment in time where we lost each other, believed that we would never see each other again, a moment in time where we had to break each other's heart, just to save one another. There's a saying that goes 'you have to let go of the things you love the most', and that's what I almost did. And for a moment, I had accepted it, because my life meant so little to me, and all I cared about was you."

"There are a lot of things that I can't take back, a lot of mistakes that I will never forgive myself for. I missed the birth of our daughter, and that is something I can't take back, something that still hurts to this very day. But you gave birth to a perfect, healthy little girl. My life changed the moment I looked at our daughter for the first time because I knew that the shit we went through, had happened for a reason," said Alvin. "Because every time I look at our daughter, I see you, and I know that the pain I went through from almost losing you and Melody, is what's fueling me to love and protect you both for the rest of my life. Becoming a father was the last thing I would've ever expected for myself, but it was the best thing that has ever happened to me because it gave me another reason to live. Being a parent alongside you, Britt, and raising our daughter together is the greatest thing I've ever done, and there's nothing I wouldn't do for you and Melody. "

At this point, Brittany's eyes were welling up with tears, and in this moment, she almost forgot that they were surrounded by people, because in her eyes, it was just her and Alvin. It was moments like these, where it was just them, where it feels like the world has stopped, that made her heart race the most. She watched as Alvin took a deep breath, before smiling warming at her again.

"So, uh, look, I wanted to do this ages ago, and I don't know why it's taken me a long ass time to do this, but um..." Alvin chuckled nervously, a rare sight for anybody in that room. He literally looked like he was about to die because he was so nervous, but nonetheless, he took out a velvet box from his pocket before his gaze returned to hers. "...Marry me, Brittany. I-I mean, can you marry me. Shit, fuck, I mean, will you marry me?"

A chorus of gasps and small squeals emerged from the crowd watching. Brittany's friends grabbed each other in complete shock, while Alvin's friends let out small cheers before nudging and high fiving each other. Yet everyone in the room managed to stay silent and had their eyes on both Alvin and Brittany.

Brittany, who now had tears streaming down her face, felt like she was about to puke and scream because her heart was just filled to the brim. From the overwhelming emotions from Alvin's speech, the laughter from Alvin's embarrassment, and the pure shock from the question he had just popped, she swallowed in the lump in her throat. She should've seen this coming, to save her from this whole mess of emotions, but what else could she expect from him? He always liked to spring on the most unexpected things on her, and her heart was so full that she let out a small laugh.

"You're such a jerk," she told him.

"...What?"

"You're seriously asking me if I want to spend the rest of my life with you?" she asked.

Alvin felt frozen, and all the eyes that were on him seemed to be stabbing through him like knives. He looked at her, trying to read her, but got nothing. He cleared his throat and said, "I, um...well, you can say no, if you want."

"I'm not gonna do that," she said.

"Huh?"

Brittany rolled her eyes before letting out another laugh. "That means yes, you idiot! My answer is yes! Yes, I'll marry you!"

"Oh," Alvin's eyes went wide with realization. "OH! Wait, actually? Then why didn't you just say so? Goddamn, we always have to make things complicated now, do we?"

"Whatever, now shut up, before I change my mind," she laughed, before finally getting up to run towards him. She wrapped her arms around his neck before finally giving her fiancé a kiss. The room around them erupted in cheers and screams, and some of their friends had burst into tears of happiness. She pulled away and held one of his cheeks in her hand. "Took you long enough to ask me."

"Well, you said no the first time I asked!" he said.

Brittany gave him a look. "The first time? When the hell did that even happen?"

Alvin slightly rolled his eyes. "During Melody's first birthday last year, remember? I had lowkey asked, and you said no because you wanted a huge ass celebration and for a whole crowd to watch," he chuckled.

She paused for a moment, trying to rack her memories, before finally remembering. She turned to him and nudged him hard. "...You were actually being serious? You idiot! I didn't know you were actually being serious! You know I would've said yes, no matter what."

Alvin let out another chuckle when he saw the small frown on Brittany's face. "It's alright. You were right, anyway. We definitely deserve a big celebration for your proposal. And besides, getting engaged during our daughter's birthday wouldn't have been the best idea."

"And you've had the ring the entire time?" she asked him.

Alvin smiled and shrugged. "From the moment we moved in together. Speaking of..." he opened up the box to reveal the ring up close, before taking Brittany's hand, and slipping the ring on her finger, and they both felt their hearts skip a beat. "It suits you."

"It's beautiful," she said, her heart in her throat. "You have no idea how long I've waited for you to ask me to marry you."

"Well, I thought you would say no...again," he teased.

"Hm, you caught me on a good day," she taunted back, before giving him another kiss. "Alvin, there's nothing more that I want, than to be with you for the rest of my life. I mean, not that I have a choice, because you are the father of my child, but being married to you is a nice bonus too."

"Thanks. I think?" he asked.

Brittany let out a small laugh. "I love you, Alvin. I don't think you understand how much I love you, how it's always been you from the very beginning. I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

"Well, no shit, look at who you're marrying!" teased Alvin, which earned laughs from everyone else.

Brittany just rolled her eyes, before letting out a sigh. "Should we call Miss Miller and Dave and tell them?"

"Nah. Something tells me they already know," Alvin smirked, and before Brittany could say anything, he looked past her shoulder and smiled.

Brittany followed his gaze, and let out a gasp when she saw Dave, Simon, Theodore, Miss Miller, Jeanette and Eleanor standing a few feet away, watching everything unfold before them with all the love and happiness in the world. Their family was here the entire time, and it just made Brittany's heart that much fuller. And standing next to Miss Miller's feet, holding onto her grandmother's hand, was Alvin and Brittany's little girl, and the moment Brittany looked at the gleaming smile on Melody's face, she couldn't help but tear up.

The smile on Brittany's face instantly grew, before gently letting go of Alvin and throwing her arms out. Melody let go of Miss Miller's hand, giggling and smiling the whole time, before running into her mother's arms. Brittany scooped her up, and planted a huge kiss on Melody's cheek.

"Hi, baby," Brittany said, cuddling her daughter close.

"Hi mama," Melody giggled. "Mama cry?"

"It's a happy cry. Mama is very, very happy," said Brittany, as she fixed Melody's hair. She picked Melody up in her arms as the rest of their family approached them. "You guys were here the entire time?"

"Yup. We left literally a minute after you and Alvin left," smiled Theodore.

"We heard the entire speech in the back," smiled Dave. "We're so proud of you, Alvin. Especially me. I have loved and enjoyed seeing you grow as a parent over the past few years, and I know you will be a great husband to Brittany. So, congratulations, you two. We are so, so happy for you both."

"Thanks, dad," Alvin smiled, reaching over to embrace his father.

"Did you guys know about this the whole time?" Brittany asked, looking at her sisters and Alvin's brothers.

"Well, duh! Of course we knew! And let me tell you, that was the hardest secret we've ever had to keep in our entire lives," said Eleanor. "God, Britt, you almost made me break earlier before you left. Alvin would've killed me if I had said something."

Alvin scoffed. "How the tables have turned, huh, Eleanor."

"Whatever," Eleanor rolled her eyes, but gave them a smile. "But I am SO glad we don't have to keep this a secret anymore! Jeanette literally cried when Alvin told us he was proposing to you!"

"I couldn't help it, okay?" Jeanette laughed.

"And let me tell you how hard it was to keep Melody still," chuckled Simon. "We were trying our best to stay quiet backstage while Alvin was making his speech, but the moment she heard Alvin's voice, she almost came running outside. Theodore and Eleanor had to take her far into the back rooms in case Brittany heard her, but she just kept calling for you, Alvin."

Alvin laughed before gently pinching one of his daughter's cheeks. "Daddy's girl, huh."

"But she looked so happy, right Melody?" Eleanor cooed at her niece. "Mommy and Daddy are finally getting married! Are you excited?"

Brittany laughed as she watched her little girl give the most adorable and dazzling giggle, before looking past them to see Miss Miller silently watching them with tears in her eyes. Brittany sighed and pulled away, before looking at her. "Mom?"

"Oh Brittany! My baby is getting married!" Miss Miller finally let out. She was sobbing happy tears as she threw her arm around Brittany. Oh, how her heart was so full. Her first born daughter was engaged, and she couldn't be happier. She pulled back, and looked at Brittany, who's eyes were glistening with tears. "I'm so happy for you, honey. Both of you."

"Thank you, mom," Brittany smiled, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.

"Congrats, you two. It's about time," Simon congratulated his brother and new sister-in-law. "Also, I gotta say, Alvin, only you can pull off proposing at a nightclub, and still make it seem like the most extravagant party ever."

"What can I say? It takes talent to pull off the type of shit that I do," Alvin shrugged with a grin.

Everyone rolled their eyes and groaned, before Eleanor leaned towards her older sister and said, "Ugh. That's your future husband, Brittany. Are you still sure about this?" she asked, teasing of course.

"I'm sure," Brittany replied, looking at Alvin. He gave her a smile, and she smiled back. "100% sure."

And she has never been so sure about a decision in her life.
