Halo 5.1 Guardians of Sera Chapter 43
"Okay Dizzy. Taker her up" said Marcus.
Something in the water was floating towards them.
"What the?" asked Marcus.
A corpse floated onto the windshield with their blood flowing in the water.
"Those bastards, they killed the civvies!" said Sam.
The sub raises topside to a dock and more dead civilians floating in the water.
"So the government shipped people out here? Nice of Prescott to keep us in the loop" said Jace.
"Yeah the important that were worth savin'...while we weren't!" said Dizzy.
"Prescott would have answered for these crimes in a UNSC court. Mark my words" said Locke.
"Yeah. He would have" adds Chief.
"Didn't save them though did it?" asked Marcus.
"Let's just get this done" said Kelly.
"Okay let's move. Dizzy, when we're clear, get out of the cave and standby. The sub might be our only way out." said Marcus.
Delta and The Spartans exit the sub as they got on the dock. Locked and loaded.
"Dizzy, take her down" said Marcus.
"We'll hook up again, see you later!" said Dizzy leaving.
"Glad to be out and able to stretch my legs" said Tanaka.
"Stay focused. We have a job to do." said Master Chief.
Then the PA systems activated.
"Welcome to Azura, you have been chosen for your protection.."
"Protection? I wonder why Prescott didn't spend all his frickin' time here." asked Jace.
"Maybe to maintain his image of "Chairman of the People?" asked Kelly.
"Politics am I right?" adds Tanaka.
"Anya you're navigating. Where's the Maelstrom generator" asked Marcus.
"Up there. That's the train station. Let's follow the tunnel" said Anya.
"Okay go!" said Marcus.
A Locust patrol was up ahead.
"Hold it, Locust up ahead" said Master Chief as everyone got into cover.
"What's the play Marcus?" asked Locke aiming his Battle Rifle
"Okay forget stealth. Smoke 'em!" said Marcus as everyone opened fire.
"That way! Go Left!" shouts Anya seeing a flanking point.
"Taking flanking positions! said Locke.
Marcus, Locke and Chief took the flanking positions to rain down cover fire givng the others room to advance.
"Area's clear to advance." said Master Chief reloading.
"That way straight on!" shouts Anya.
"Shit. They really dug in" said Sam.
"Definitely setting up Grub HQ" adds Anya.
"Well today's eviction day for the Grubs" said Kelly.
Sam and Tanaka picked up Theron and Palace Guards from a distance taking out any enemy overwatch. Anya, Jace, Locke and Kelly rushed into add the pressure to push the Locust back. Marcus and Master Chief took point to finish them off.
"Up the stairs!" said Chief.
The team made it to the train station, clearing out the remaining Locust at the train stop. A train arrives carrying locust reinforcements.
"Enemy reinforcements!" shouts Locke headshotting a guard.
As they finish the last grub, it sets off a grenade and completely blows up the train, blocking the tunnel in the process.
"Damnit! The train's blocked the tunnel! Where the hell are we gonna go now?" asked Jace.
"Anya, is there a way around this?" asked Marcus.
"Anya to Cole, Anya to Cole over" said Anya.
"This is Sierra-117 to Infinity over? All staions I repeat this Sierra-117 does anyone copy? Over." said Chief
"The radio's screwed until shut down the Maelstrom" said Marcus.
"Well i'll keep the channel open anyway" said Anya.
"Anya, Anya is that you? This is Adam Fenix! Can you hear me?" asked Adam Fenix.
"Professor! Yes, We hear you!" said Anya.
"Ah, thank god. Prescott found you! Can you see the security camera?" asked Adam Fenix.
Anya then turns to see the security camera above her, looking directly at it.
"Yes, can you see us Professor?" asked Anya.
"Anya! Oh, you've changed! Where's Marcus? Did Marcus make it?" asked Adam.
Marcus then walks up to the camera.
"Dad! I'm here. We've come to get you out." said Marcus.
"It's, good to see you again. Is Dom with you? Wait? How did you get that scar?" asked Adam.
"Later Dad. Where are you?" asked Marcus.
"I'm locked in my laboratory in the hotel tower. I need you to get me out of here so I can deploy the countermeasure. I'm running out of time, Marcus." said Adam.
"We'll deal with the grubs Dad. Hang in there" assured Marcus.
"No, I mean the imulsion, the lambent organism. It's about to reach a critical state in its lifecycle. I've got to destroy it before it matures and wipes out all life on Sera" explained Adam.
"You lost me at "Life Cycle" said Marcus.
"It's not a fuel Marcus. It's a living organism. It's turning everything Lambent. Including us!" explained Adam.
"It's a parasite. So you can kill it!" said Marcus.
"Just like The Flood" said Master Chief.
"Yes, that's it! Exactly! Myrrah wants me to adapt the counter measure to kill it without harming the Locust, but there's no time left for that!" explained Adam.
"We need to shut down the Maelstrom first to land reinforcements. Where do we go?" asked Marcus.
"There's a train that will take you straight to the facility" said Adam.
"Yeah we've got a probmel with that. Tunnel's blocked. We need to bypass it." said Marcus.
"There should be a maintenance tunnel along side it. I csn open the door from here. Get to the beach, and you'll be able to see the tower from there. Be warned Marcus. The Locust and The Lambent aren't our only problems now. There's something else that is nothing that we've ever faced before." said Adam.
"You mean The Covenant or The Prometheans?" asked Marcus.
"Wait. How do you know?" asked Adam.
Marcus then signals Master Chief and the other Spartans to the camera.
"Professor Fenix, This is Master Chief Sierra-117 of the UNSC Infinity."
"My goodness...How did you end up on Sera?" asked Adam.
"Professor this is Spartan Jameson Locke, that's a long story. All I can say is that hostiles from our wat followed us here. We came here to help you end this war. Out ship The Infinity has been working with the COG this entire mission. We have reinforcements en route but we need to shut down the Maelstom. I've got Spartans Kelly and Tanaka with us and Four others regrouping their way here." Said Locke
"We've come a long way to see this through. We need to end this war before our's arrives here any further." said Master Chief.
"Master Chief. That's a name thats ringing a bell. Listen Master Chief, The Warden Eternal is likely gonna knoiw you're here. Don't let him stop you!" explained Adam.
"We won't. We need the door to the maintenance tunnel open. Try opening it" said Chief.
Adamn then opened the steel door to the tunnel making a path for the team.
"We're in" said Marcus.
"Marcus, you said reinforcements, are you all on your own?" asked Adam.
"We got Sam and Jace here too. You'll mee them soon enough" said Marcus.
"Same goes for the UNSC" adds Master Chief.
"If it's just the eight of you, try to find a Silverback. You'll need it, this place is heavily defended.
Marcus then sees the Silverback exo suit on a lift and goes to activate it.
"Yeah, we see it" said Marcus.
"We'll give you cover fire Marcus. Take point." said Master Chief.
Marcus leads the charge using the Silverback to mow down waves of Grubs.
"Yeah humans are back assholes" said Marcus with a sense of retribution.
The team heads towards the beach as it appears heavily fortified.
"Damn. This must've been a nice beach once" said Sam.
"Damn, look at all this shit! They turned this place into Fort Grub!" adds Jace.
"And check out that storm. Must be the Maelstrom." said Anya.
"Looks like they're building a new headquarters" said Sam.
"We better unbuild it before Cole shows up. Dad, are you still receiving?" asked Marcus.
"I can hear you, Marcus" said Adam.
As Marcus continued to clear a path, the facility was in sight.
"Look at that!" said Anya.
"That must be the Maelstrom facility. We need to keep pushing forward." said Master Chief.
The team pushed forward but Mortar squads made their appearance.
"Mortars! Keep Marcus covered!" said Master Chief as the others targeted the Mortar squads while Marcus evades them.
"Squads down!" said Sam.
"Look out! Gas Barge!" shouts Anya.
A Gas Barge was landing in reinforcements onto the beach.
"How the hell did the Grubs get a Gas Barge past the Maelstrom?" asked Sam.
"They must've shut it down. Just like we're gonna do" said Anya.
"Come on, run!" shouts Marcus.
Marcus reached the end of the road for his Silverback being able to continue. So on foot, he and the team clear out the remaining Locust. However they reached a dead end.
"Damn, they really reinfiorced that door!" said Jace.
Yeah, even the Silverback can't get in" adds Anya.
"Oh shit!" adds Sam.
"Dad, know any backdoors? The access is blocked." asked Marcus.
"There's...nothing on the schematics, Marcus." said Adam.
"Keep lookin' around the caves. Damn thing is right in front of us. Theres gotta be a way in" said Marcus.
As they leave the trenches, a door opens as Boomers exit out with more Locust.
"Thanks assholes" said Marcus.
They quickly dealt with the threat, getting back to the mission.
"Professor, we're back on course. The Locust blasted through to the train tunnel." said Anya.
The team reached the train station with a passing train in the middle and Locust on the other side.
They took them down and heads across the tracks with Marcus pulling a switch.
"Well, they dug in here, but it ain't because of us. They're running scared of the Lambent." said Jace.
"I know the feeling." adds Sam.
"Come on, let's go! Follow the track!" said Marcus.
As they ran across the train track, headlights shinned from deep within the tunnel.
"Uh, you know what they say about a light at the end of the tunnel, right?" asked Jace.
"Yeah, it's a bloody train coming the other way!" adds Sam
"EVERYONE MOVE!" shouts Locke.
After narrowly avoiding the train, the mission kept going.
"Shit, did they see us?" asked Jace.
"Well they know we're here now. And where we're heading" said Marcus.
