Chapter 29:
Back at Beacon, Team JNPR were at lunch break still trying to contact Team RWBY about the Time Lord Victorious being here on Beacon before running out.
Jaune: Any luck?
Ren: Unfortunately. It's like their signals are being cut off from Mountain Glenn.
Nora: Anyone noticed the skies today is darker than usual.
Ren: Possible storm could be approaching.
Jaune: But the forecast said it was supposed to be partially cloudy.
Pyrrha: Something seems off guys. The Doctor here at Beacon then running off, Team RWBY at Mountain Glenn with no way to contact them, and this unexpected storm coming.
Before anyone else could reply, the alarm was ringing, which startled everyone as the intercom spoke out with a worried voice by Glynda Goodwitch.
Glynda: Students! We are asking that you seek immediate shelter and remain there until further notice. We are receiving reports that the City of Vale is under attack by a strange species that appears to be immune to our weapons! Please seek shelter as soon as possible!
Everyone began to panic and rush out of the cafeteria before the national emergency alarm began to ring. This was bad and as JNPR headed outside to find shelter and contact Team RWBY, they noticed a few Angel statues in the entrance of the Ampitheater before closing the doors on its own and screams were heard.
Jaune: I think that what we talked about has to do with that...
Nora: Guys...*points*
Team JNPR turned around to see more Angels around Beacon while other students and professors disappeared into thin air. They ran as fast as they could to their dorms as the Weeping Angels launched their massacre in Beacon and soon Vale. Much deeper into the cave, Team RBY and their professor alongside a pilot slowly walked while maintaining eyes on any sights of the Angels. As if that wasn't enough, they witnessed a pilot get killed by an Angel and Weiss was separated from their group. They decided to stop to rest for a little more before finding a way out and to warn the rest of the kingdom.
Oobleck: Now then girls, since you knew very well about this place would you care to explain to me what is going on? And I wish for the truth.
Blake: *sighs and looks at Ruby* We have to expose the secret Ruby. It's gotten out of hand.
Ruby: I know Blake. Professor Oobleck, those are known as Weeping Angels. They are an unknown species from an unknown origin but they are part of time itself.
Yang: We were told of this by our friend, the Doctor. Or as you probably know him, William Smith.
Oobleck: WAIT! William Smith? The boy with no memories who disappeared for a while-
Blake: Yes, him! But he's not human like us Professor. He's from an alien species known as time lords. He has two hearts and can live up to thousands of years.
Ruby: He's about 500 years old.
Oobleck: You have been meeting with an alien from space? HOW FASCINATING! I must meet him when we escape this place and know more about him!
Ruby: Look, we can't keep losing track of time because those creatures can appear any moment now.
Blake: Ruby's right. Look, they have different ways of killing someone, but they have been known to be fast and peaceful killers.
Yang: Let's not forget the nickname, Lonely Assassins.
Ruby: They will send you back in time to any decade or even century. From there, they absorb your time as energy for them and you die.
Oobleck: That's why you said peaceful killers.
Pilot #2: So why are they called the Weeping Angels.
Yang: Because they hide when being watched. Like their soul leaves their body or something like that. But then it gets a bit tricky, they cover their face to protect them from looking at each other. One Angel makes eye contact with another, they are stuck like that for eternity.
Oobleck: A power and a curse, Remarkable...
Blake: It's easier said than done with so many of them out there.
Roman Torchwick: So that's what they are.
Everyone was startled and positioned their weapons when they saw Roman approaching them. And behind him was a young woman about the same age as Ruby with hair that is colored half pink and half brown, with white streaks on the pink side.
Oobleck: Roman Torchwick. I would suggest you stand down before things get complicated.
Roman: Oh please Professor Specs, I would have killed all of you without even being noticed. Unfortunately, we are in the same situation as you are. Stuck with these statues roaming the area.
Blake: What exactly are you even doing here?
Roman: *sighs* Must you always be nosy. Come along, I will show you what I had been planning but is now our only hideout.
The group had no trust in the biggest criminal of Vale but if he is also scared of the Weeping Angels and has a hideout, they knew it was best to take the risk and follow while also being cautious. Back in the woods, Weiss let out her tears come out after being grabbed onto the shoulders until she heard a familiar voice that she hoped to hear.
Time Lord Victorious: Weiss...
Weiss: *tears up more* Doctor... *hugs him tight* I thought I was dead...*sobs* I thought they got me...
The Time Lord Victorious could only hug her back and closed his eyes in relief that she was okay. Their hug was something they both needed right now and what occurred a few days back. That tension they kept was released by the warmth of each other. Looking around for any signs of Angels, he grabbed her hand and quickly followed back to the TARDIS closing the door. She knew the TARDIS would be the safest location on Remnant now as she saw her Doctor and their Dalek friend looking through the cameras and scanning the areas.
Time Lord Victorious: I knew those two weren't the only ones here. Makes more sense with the hands around each building. The disappearances.
Weiss: T-There were s-so many out there.
Time Lord Victorious: I didn't think so many would come through. Khan, any luck scanning the rest of the team.
Dalek Khan: Still scanning. The Angels have interfered with their signals from their scrolls.
Weiss looked around the TARDIS and it pained her to see it in a dim state than how it looked before. The lights weren't as shining as before, a mess everywhere with books and papers, and the control console, she felt it weak. She knew this new persona of the Doctor was damaging the TARDIS.
Weiss: I-I'm sorry...
Time Lord Victorious: Pardon?
Weiss: I'm sorry... for all this. W-We didn't know-
Time Lord Victorious: I know. I saw. All you were doing is finding risks to train yourselves to become excellent huntresses. *Chuckles softly* Team RWBY doesn't care about the risk as long as you kick ass.
That's why she hasn't lost hope. That's why she still believes that deep inside this time lord persona was the Doctor, the true persona that he is. That smile, while small, made her smile softly knowing the idiot in a blue box wasn't all gone.
Weiss: So then what's your plan Doc-…
He looked at her and knew she was never going to call him by his actual name he has now. No matter how many times he said it the last time they were together, it never changed their minds.
Time Lord Victorious: You can still call me Doctor. You and the others even if I am no longer the Doctor. Just makes it easier for you. As for the plan, my first priorty is getting all of you safe and inside the TARDIS. Those Angels can't get through no matter what they try. Once the others are rescued, I'm sending you back to Beacon where I need ALL of you to warn Ozpin and General Ironwood. Evacuate Vale and relocate somewhere else while the Angels still roam. I have an idea how to stop them and send them back but it'll need some time.
Weiss: How much time?
Time Lord Victorious: Could take weeks or months. If there were only a few angels around, I could just have them look at each other and trap them for eternity. But because there's so many of them, the only way is to trap them somewhere or find a way to destroy them.
Dalek Khan: SIGNALS DECTECTD!
Weiss and the Time Lord Victorious head to the panel to see the rest of RBY in the cave where the time lord first encountered the angels. Their horror was that around the cave were numbers of angels approaching, they were running out of time.
Weiss: Oh my god...w-what do we do?! We have to warn them!
Time Lord Victorious: I need the exact pinpoint of their location to send the TARDIS there! Any possible way to reach out to any of them? I can connect your scroll to the TARDIS and once one of them replies, the location is picked.
Weiss: Here! *Hands my scroll* Connect it and I'll message the group chat.
Time was running out, they were so focused on getting their friends out before the Angels got to them that they didn't realize another situation, the Angels were also approaching Vale. Back inside the cave, the others walked deeper into what looked like an abandoned train tunnel and found many people of White Fang alongside Roman's henchman.
Roman Torchwick: The ambush began after one of the White Fang members claimed his group were killed by those Angels. We all laughed at him and taunted him for his imagination until we were eventually attacked outside.
Blake: How many of them were there when it happened?
Roman Torchwick: Too many. Every time we turned around and looked, more of my men would be killed or disappeared. That's when we decided to close off everything else and shelter in the meantime. The shocking part is they wiped all the Grimm that were in this area. Still, how exactly do you know about these creatures.
Yang: *sighs* Look, if the word comes out, we will come find you and kick your ass.
Roman Torchwick: ZIP! *smirks*
Ruby: We have someone who also isn't from this world. He's called the Doctor and he's in a way, a time traveler.
Roman Torchwick: Ah yes, I've heard about him very well. The man that can scare off Grimms and travels with his little police box. My Neo was working with Cinder on trying to steal his police box but I don't understand the importance of it
Yang: It may be little on the outside but trust me, it's bigger on the inside. And he told us as well about their plan.
Ruby: We believe he can be the only one to stop the Weeping Angels. He knows about them very much and knows how to stop them.
White Fang Member #3: I KNOW HIM! I KNOW THE DOCTOR!
The girls were left startled when a white fang member approached them and took off his mask to reveal horns on his head as he was a bull Faunus.
Blake: You've met him?
White Fang Member #3: Not met him exactly but encountered him. The name's Roger and the Doctor was the one who gave us the warning about the Angels. We thought he was out of his head and messing around with us...til it killed two of my partners. I managed to escape and return here but I was already traumatized by what occurred.
Ruby: When we got here there were already so many of them around us. We formed a circle and looked at them to prevent them getting closer til we reached the forest and ran.
Yang: Weiss is still out there however.
Roman Torchwick: Ah, so the heiress to the Schnee family is still out there. May not last long considering they are everywhere. Maybe she's already dead.
Yang: DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT!
She was going to approach the criminal until Neo went in between them and transformed into Weiss as a taunt which had Ruby and Blake not happy with it either but held their ground.
Roger: We can go back to fighting and keep you guys' hostages later, but right now we have to find a way to escape. It won't be long til-
CLANK!
That startled everyone as another loud clank came from one of the doors. All were worried and shaking as Roger checked one of the cameras only to be left petrified.
Roger: It's the Angels...
Ruby: How many?
Roger: They keep coming everytime the camera glitches out...
Blake: They're cutting the power so they can't be seen and they keep coming.
CLANK!
Soon the lights in the shelter began to flicker and Team RBY knew what this meant as everyone hears the door slowly beginning to open which puts everyone into a frenzy.
Roman Torchwick: KEEP THE DOOR SHUT! DON'T LET THEM PASS!
Many of the strong White Fang Members ran to hold the door closed as everyone began to flee and some prepared their weapons in case they entered. Team RBY all received a message from Weiss which brought a huge sigh of relief especially after seeing she was now with the Doctor. Ruby texts her back immediately which pinpoints her location but when that happens, the power goes off immediately causing more panic and screaming until the doors are heard opening; The Angels have entered.
Weiss: GOT IT! We have to hurry; she said the Angels are entering the shelter!
Time Lord Victorious wasted no time and pulled the lever of the TARDIS to transport them. Once the TARDIS arrived, they opened the door immediately only to reveal an empty shelter.
Weiss: Oh god...we're too late...did they...
Dalek Khan: Scan detects they are still alive!
Time Lord Victorious: We got here at the exact point that message was sent...the angels entered and must've ran the moment we were arriving.
Weiss: Doctor!
He looked at Weiss after calling him only to look at what she was looking at and saw a Weeping Angel looking back at them...but with a smile. An innocent but terrifying smile on the face of the statue.
Weiss: Is it supposed to smile?
Time Lord Victorious: No...it shouldn't...the question is why is it smiling...
Weiss looks down and her eyes widened to see a cracked scroll as Dalek Khan and Time Lord Victorious continued staring at the Angel. She picks it up to see the last message that never sent, it was Ruby's.
Weiss: "The Angels have entered." It never got sent because they probably began to run.
Time Lord Victorious: Weiss...get back in the TARDIS...now...
Weiss ran back inside as the time lord adjusted his new sonic screwdriver which was the same replica as he pointed it towards the Angel alongside Khan with his blaster. They both blast their weapons destroying the Angels to bits. Then he turned around looking at Weiss and pointed his screwdriver at her shocking both Khan and Weiss.
Weiss: D-Doctor...W-WAIT!
Time Lord Victorious: I am sorry Weiss. I truly am...
Weiss: N-NO! NO! NO!
Dalek Khan: YOU WILL NOT KILL HER!
He activated his Sonic and closed the TARDIS doors locking it completely as Weiss realized he wasn't going to kill her but lock her in. She banged on the door and trying to open it until his voice is heard as he connects the TARDIS from his Sonic.
Time Lord Victorious: Weiss, listen to me. It is not safe for you to be out here with us when the entire mountain is filled with Weeping Angels. You will remain in the TARDIS where it is safe and there is no way for the Angels to enter or even try to break through. Khan and I will try to look for the girls and their professors and bring them back. I can't afford losing you or them, this mess started because of me and I'm going to fix it with Khan.
Weiss: DOCTOR YOU CAN'T! THEY'LL KILL YOU! LET ME OUT! *Bangs on the doors*
Time Lord Victorious: I am sorry Weiss...we'll be back soon. I hope. Cmon Khan!
The Time Lord and Dalek ran off following the locations of Blake and Yang thanks to their scroll as Weiss kept banging on the door before she gave up and falling to the ground with tears in her eyes. The Angels were out there, she feared losing her friends, the Doctor, Khan, her second family. She looked around the TARDIS and tried to figure out what to do and fast! Not far from where the TARDIS was, Team RBY were in hiding position as they heard more screaming fade and weapons quiet down. None of their weapons were effective on the Angels and people began to die. The Angels already killed off Oobleck, Neo, and Roman Torchwick which terrified them more. It was all silence now as they kept quiet and hiding in darkness as they saw the shadows of the Angels approaching. They wanted to scream, shout for help, anything to save them from the Angels but when the shadow approached, it turned out to be Roger.
Blake: Roger!
Roger: Quickly, the Angels have already passed by here. I found an exit to make a run for it.
Ruby: H-How many...
Roger: *sighs* I don't know...I think we're the last ones left because those who escaped most likely were killed by the Angels that were outside. Roman and all of the White Fang are basically gone.
Ruby: Professor Oobleck...
He was killed by the Angel as a sacrifice to make sure the girls would have time to escape and that stayed in their heads. Roman believed that a bomb could kill an Angel and when it failed, another appeared behind me which ended him. Neo, seeing her master and friend get killed by the Angel refused to continue with Team RBY and let the Angel take her as well. Once they found a spot to hide, Zwei wouldn't stop barking and freed himself from Ruby as she cried for him to return only to hear a sudden whimper then silence. As of now, it was only the three of them and Roger.
Roger: You said we can form a circle and keep eye contact with those things to prevent it from killing us right? Let's form a circle just in case they appear as we head to the exit.
The three nods as they formed a circle with their backs facing each other and moving towards the path of the exit. As they continued to walk their way out, Roger noticed Blake's ears.
Roger: You were with Adam...weren't you?
Blake: *bites lip and looks down*
Roger: H-Hey, you don't gotta answer. It was only a question. Believe me, some of us don't trust him at all but we have no choice since we don't want to face any problems or death.
Blake: No, it's just I want to forget about it and move on with my life. But yeah...I was with him. I trusted him, thought he was aiming to help Faunus fit in and make peace. Obviously, that wasn't the case at all.
Roger: Well, I should warn you.
Blake: About what?
Yang: Guys...
As they reached the exit, a horde of Weeping Angels surrounded the exit as if they were waiting to come out. Some with monstrous like expressions and others were smiling.
Ruby: W-What do we do now?!
Roger: *sighs* Run back inside. Find a different path to leave the mountain. Find your friend and go as far away as you can.
Blake: Wait, what about you?
Roger: I'll give you some time!
Ruby: NO! Not you too! We already lost the professor for the same reason!
Roger: There's no time to argue or think of second options. Just GO! RUN!
The girls hesitated until Roger separated from the circle to look at the Angels face to face. The girls looked at each other with guilt and sadness before running back inside the cave. Roger took a deep breath without blinking for a moment thinking about his life and everything.
Roger: I did my duty for Faunus and for my home.
He gave the Angels are brave look of determination before closing his eyes and Roger was now gone as well. No screaming, no crying for help, no fear in his eyes, Roger was truly a warrior in the end. Team RBY ran back into the cave and began to search quickly where to hide off to as the lights began to flicker once again meaning the Angels were approaching. They were about to run until they bumped into someone and instantly backed away thinking it was the Angels.
Time Lord Victorious: GIRLS!
Team RBY: DOCTOR!
Back in the TARDIS, Weiss continued a few times trying to open the door but gave up after every failed attempt. She marched to the control console of the TARDIS in hopes that she could be of assistant
Weiss: You can hear me right? Please open the door. I have to find the others and bring them back.
The TARDIS did not reply to her, which frustrated Weiss. Instead, she transported media to one of the screen panels which caught Weiss' attention and it wasn't good. It was a news report coming right now from City of Vale about the Weeping Angels attacking.
News Reporter: The Camera is glitching but if you can hear me, we are receiving reports of Angel Statues coming to life and having people disappear into thin air. The sky has turned dark, and people are panicking all over the place. Fellow Huntsmen and Huntresses are assisting the military in stopping these creatures. We don't know if they are new variants of Grimms but- *static noise*
Weiss: Oh my god...the Angels have taken over Vale.
Grabbing her scroll, she began to contact everyone she can by message or call starting with Winter then anyone from Team JNPR. There was no response from JNPR, yet which terrified her in thinking the Angels had found them, but Winter was able to return the call fast.
Weiss: WINTER! Can you hear me?
Winter: WEISS! Oh my God you're okay! Where are you? Are you in shelter?!
Weiss: *looks around the TARDIS and sighs* YES! But my team is still out there. I want to find them, but I'm stuck in here. Where are you?
Winter: STAY THERE! I'm sure they will find you or find a protective shelter like yours. I'm in Atlas and we are about to send more troops to stop whatever is attacking Vale!
Weiss: *eyes widen* Don't! These are unkillable creatures. The more you send, the worse it'll get. Humanity could go extinct! There's an entire horde of these all over Mountain Glenn and half of them are already on Vale. Winter, listen to me, these creatures can't be killed by any of our technology. Not even a bomb could kill them, if you send more troops, they'll feed on them as well!
Winter: How do you know this?!
Weiss: The Doctor! William! He knows about them! They are Weeping Angels! W-Winter? Hello! WINTER!...SISTER!
Their call was beginning to be cut off, which stressed Weiss until she sees a bit more of the news broadcast that the Angels have reached the CCT. Screams were heard and instant silence from behind the camera as it falls on the ground before cutting off completely. She looked at her scroll to show a screen saying, "No Signal". City of Vale, Beacon, her friends, the people of town, it was all was gone and taken over by the Weeping Angels. The Doctor and her team were still out there and noticed on the area map of the TARDIS that more Angels were now entering the cave and all going to where the Doctor is located. She trembled and remained in a frozen state, losing all hope of escaping this as the alerts rang off as the screen panel shows the Angels have also surrounded the TARDIS as they begin to shake the police box. She stumbled around from the shaking and looked at the TARDIS with tears and spoke with a shaky voice.
Weiss: We're not gonna make it out aren't we...
