Hufflepuff
SUMMER 1997—Swan had to be impressed with Filch's strength, even if he was a despicable human being. He managed to disarm her, tie her up, and then carry her for what felt like forever—she had bag over her head and couldn't actually see how far they had travelled. Then Filch stuffed her in the trunk of a car and drove for approximately two million years. The time seemed to blur together, and Swan may have nodded off once or twice. Perhaps she died of heatstroke; Filch's car had no air conditioning and it was a hot summer's day.
Finally, they arrived at their destination. Filch hefted Swan out of the trunk and carried her, bridal style, up …a flight of stairs? He was muttering something about showing her how capable he was of providing for her. As if she would even be interested.
He set her on a cold stone floor and removed the bag from her head. She blinked in the harsh sunlight. He smiled widely, revealing his missing teeth.
"What do you think of my castle? Well, it's not mine, but it is abandoned."
"I think I need medical attention," Swan groaned.
"You'll be fine," he assured, "and you have an entire castle to explore. Mrs. Norris will watch over you."
Swan shivered. That mangy, yellow-eyed she-devil scared her, and it was the only animal that she had never been able to get along with.
Filch undid Swan's bonds and then led her on a "grand tour" of the castle, although it was clear that he had barely been inside the dilapidated stone structure. He motioned to random rooms, calling them things like the Grand Hall, the kitchen, and the master suite. Swan didn't know much about architecture, but she did know her way around Hogwarts pretty well, so she had a basic idea of how castles were set up.
When Filch left, Swan set to exploring the castle in earnest, climbing over collapsing walls and generally ignoring common sense. From what she could tell from the tallest turret, the castle was atop a steep cliff, and from personal inspection, the walls surrounding the castle were too smooth to climb. Rats. She was stuck.
If she was free to leave, Swan would have loved to hang out around the castle for a week, investigating every nook and cranny. But as weeks bled into months, with Filch for her only human interaction, she began to feel insane. Her wild blonde hair grew even crazier, and she started to empathize with Bellatrix, who spent fourteen years in Azkaban. Swan even almost contemplated saying yes to the marriage offer.
