Chapter 37
'Thinking' – thoughts
"Speaking" – speech
'Thinking' – Dragon/God/Beast thinking
"Speaking" - Dragon/God/Beast speaking
Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail or any of its characters they are the property of Hiro Masima.
Ushindi: I hope this chapter goes well and that you will enjoy it. 1. Honestly it just felt random in the moment and as if there wasn't much thought put into it with the time between the end of the Tartarus Arc and the disbanding of the guild. 2. One of the stories that I have read on this site, The Tale Of Natsu Dragneel by Azza1608, uses Fire Monarch as one of the forms and I feel that is quite an apt description for a combined mode. 3. No I don't think so, I can't really see a nice way of adding her arc.
BoredAsUsual34: Hi there, honestly thank you so much for the reviews and the points you raised. I tried something a bit different and I can see your point of view and I do agree with you, my focus did not stay true to the Main Character of this story in general and I did push Natsu to the sideline and having a lot of the focus being on Haru in this Arc and I can admit that should not have happened. For the power issue you mentioned I will have to do better in using the current circumstances of the original material and not just throwing a bunch of random things is just for Natsu to give him a fight. Thank you again for this, it helps me better my writing. My hope is to better my focus in the next arc and continue having the correct focus of this story in mind going forward and I hope you will stay interested.
-With the Alliance mages-
Jura and Gray quickly found their way to Lucy and Haru thanks to Hibiki's map. They arrived to see Cobra and Cubellios defeated, Cobra seemingly reaching out to his companion before he succumbed to unconsciousness. Close by, Haru and Happy were sat more comfortably against a wall as Lucy stood next to them, facing the approaching males.
"So what is wrong with Flame Brain?" Gray asked.
"We are in a large moving city," Lucy said with a sigh, having already asked Haru the same.
"His motion sickness," Gray stated with a sweat drop, and in answer Haru let out a groan.
"And what of Happy?" Jura asked as he looked at the blue cat.
"I'm not sure, all I could get from Haru was something about snakes. I would guess he was somehow poisoned during the fight," Lucy replied.
"That would be the most logical conclusion. Allow me, this is a basic antidote," Jura said as he revealed a small vile from a hidden pouch. Lucy quickly took the vile and trickled it into Happy's mouth.
"This will take a while to take effect. Back to the main problem, it seems like Nirvana is still active, do we know if any of the Oracion Seis are yet to be defeated?" Jura asked as a thoughtful expression crossed his face.
"Hibiki and I managed to defeat Angel," Lucy recalled.
"And Lyon and I defeated Racer and Flame Brain here took out Cobra," Gray stated.
"I defeated Brain and Hoteye. That makes five in total with just Midnight still unaccounted for," Jura recalled.
"Wendy, Erza, the rest of Blue Pegasus and Sherry are still unaccounted for then," Lucy said.
"Sherry is down for the count, she was affected by Nirvana," Gray reported.
"So she fell to the power as well. Hoteye did change as well and he was facing Midnight, but considering that he was already through a battle, it is safer to assume that he failed to defeat Midnight," Jura said with a troubled look at the start.
"So it's most likely Midnight that is keeping this thing moving," Lucy deduced.
"That is the most likely reason unless there is an unknown variable," Jura agreed.
"There is still Death Walker," Gray mentioned.
"That is true and we do not know his alignment in this situation," Jura replied concerned.
"I don't think he is an enemy, he brought Wendy back to heal Erza and from the interaction we had I would say that he would be on our side if any," Lucy quickly put in.
"If that is true, I would rather say he is a neutral party in this situation. So what we can determine is that it's only Midnight left, and Erza and Wendy are still unaccounted for," Jura summarised.
From far away, the three mages heard a voice calling out one of the names that they had been discussing.
"Wendy, where are you child," Carla's voice echoed across the desolate city.
"Is that Wendy's cat?" Gray asked.
"Carla," Lucy called out the name of Wendy's companion. It wasn't long before Carla arrived at the gathered mages.
"Where is Wendy?" Carla demanded as soon as she was close by.
"We do not know where she is, nor do we know where Erza is. Do you have any idea where they might be?" Jura asked.
"Last I remember was shoving Wendy out of the way of an attack while we were fighting against Midnight of the Oracion Seis. We were winning, but I fell unconscious after being hit. When I woke, I was alone and Midnight lay defeated. The only place Erza and Wendy could have gone was Nirvana. So I came here," Carla recalled what happened.
"But if Midnight was also defeated then why is Nirvana still moving?" Lucy asked.
"There are still unknowns it seems. Our best option will be to head to the centre of the city and see if we can find the source of Nirvana's power or a control room of sorts," Jura decided.
With Jura quickly picking up Haru and Lucy keeping an eye on Happy while carrying him, the group set back to where they fought Brain since that is the best location to search for a control room.
-With Erza and Wendy-
With the rift in reality closing in on them while demolishing the ancient buildings around its slow advance, Erza desperately searched her mind for an answer or counter to the approaching rift. As she ran through the armours in her arsenal, only one answer came to mind, though there was a problem.
'I can barely use that armour when I am completely fresh, but my magic won't last long enough to reach that rift, let alone dispel it, with my current magic levels. I also haven't done enough training with the set to even know if just the weapon could work,' Erza concluded as she was unable to find any other options. Feeling Wendy steadying herself behind her and feeling the gust from the walls of wind that was protecting them on her outstretched arms Erza knew she had to try to protect the future of the young Dragon Slayer if nothing else.
'You can stand on your own Wendy, at least for a little while,' Erza thought before she shouted "Re-quip: Nakagami Halberd". A large halberd with a golden circular hand guard in the centre appeared in front of her as she released her hold on the two weapons she used as anchors, Erza grabbed hold of the new halberd and allowed the pull from the tear to accelerate her forward.
Wendy was not prepared for Erza's support suddenly vanishing, resulting in her falling backwards, her wind walls falling apart as her concentration was interrupted. Luckily for her, the prone position she found herself in allowed the rubble that was still being pulled into the rift to harmlessly pass over her as she quickly latched onto the spear Erza used as an anchor. Her panic quickly sky-rocketed as she snapped her gaze towards Erza who was now flying towards the rift with an intricate halberd in her hands.
The large blade of the halberd with a semi-circle of small rhombuses on the other side sailed through the air as Erza twisted her body in a roll mid-air. The ribbon attached below the blade fluttered through the air as a trail of chaotic shades of blue and green followed the arc of the halberd. "Nakagami Starlight" Erza called out as the blade met the rift. Wendy and the demon watched in astonishment as the force that was pulling in everything around it came to a halt. Plumes of pink flames erupted from the rift as it tried to fight back against the spell from Erza's blade, however, it was a losing battle. Erza completed her somersault with the rift dematerialising with a slash down the middle as the halberd vanished from her hands.
"The power to cleave reality, wasted on pathetic infants of this world," the demon started in amazement that quickly turned to anger and rage as it appeared before a panting Erza, swinging one of its goat-like legs and delivering a devastating kick that sent her sailing through the air and through the sturdy wall of a building that resisted the gravitational pull from the rift.
Wendy jumped into action as she saw the wall buckle under Erza's impact. Dashing to Erza's location Wendy swung her legs as she supported herself with her hands. "Sky Dragon Gale Wind" Wendy called out as she twirled on her hands and generated fast-moving gales of wind from her feet.
The collapsing wall wasn't the only thing her attack managed to stop from hurting Erza as unknown to her, the demon once more dashed towards Erza. The winds picked up the collapsing wall and scattered it around her, knocking into the demon as it tried to land another kick. The demon made its presence known to Wendy with a roar of rage before a swirling vortex of pink flames exploded from its staff. Quickly bringing up a counter to give Erza enough time to recover, Wendy called out "Sky Dragon Roar"
-With Brain-
"It's time for Nirvana to sow its devastating destruction," Brain said with a deranged laugh as runic magic filled the top of the altar. He could feel the sudden build-up of magic power as the massive weapon charged up, ready to fire.
"Hold it right there," Jura commanded as he and the Fairy Tail mages arrived at the top.
Brain turned towards them with his deranged smile as he flicked his hand in their direction, sending a beam of dark green energy at the mages. Jura quickly dropped Haru before once more raising his defence against Brain's attack.
"This is pointless Brain, we already had this scuffle and it ended with your defeat," Jura stated.
"I do not recall losing to you, but that might have been Brain, I for one, will not lose," Brain said, confusing the mages as he seemed to believe that he was not Brain.
"What is wrong with this guy?" Gray asked as he took up a fighting stance.
"Jura must have hit him hard when he defeated him for him to completely forget who he was," Lucy added as her hand travelled to her key chain.
"Something is different about him, his magic power is a lot more chaotic," Jura warned as he had his eyes narrowed and focused on the dark mage.
"Chaotic you say Wizard Saint, an apt description of what magic truly is. Now, allow me to show you how right that description can be as Nirvana decimates the Cait Shelter guild," Brain declared as the mobile city pulsed with magical energy that quickly focused at a point in the direction the city was moving in.
Carla could only stare in disbelief and horror as her guild was set on the firing range for the devastating amount of magic that was ready to be released.
"Marvel in the destruction that is inherent to all magic," Brain declared as the build-up of magic was released. At the same time though a series of explosions went off at one of the legs of the mobile city, redirecting the power beam of destruction to veer off into the sky and only decimate the hill behind the guild.
"We made it in time," Hibiki's voice sounded in the mages' heads as he used his telepathy.
"The Christina is here to save the day," a tiered voice belonging to Eve proudly said.
"Thank you, thank you for saving my guild," Carla thanked them.
"How did you manage to get the Christina back in the air, we saw it get shot down?" Lucy asked.
"Lyon used his magic to create a temporary wing while Ren and Sherry kept the Christina in the sky," Hibiki answered.
"And I used the last of my magic to launch the bombs," Eve said before falling unconscious due to exhaustion.
"We will do our part in preventing Nirvana from firing, all you need to do is put a stop to the Oracion Seis on the ground," Hibiki said with a grin evident in his voice.
"We will defeat Brain, here and now and put a stop to the nefarious plans of the Oracion Seis," Jura declared out loud as he was surrounded by a golden brown aura consisting of his magical power.
"This time I also want a piece of him," Gray added as he placed a fist in his open palm. Lucy didn't vocalise her readiness, hoping not to be a target as her fingers curled around one of her gate keys. Carla quickly took Haru and a recovering Happy to a safer location for them to hopefully join in on the fight later.
"You defeated Brain, but you have yet to face me. I am Zero, the Master of the Oracion Seis and it seems like I will have to do some recruiting once you are dealt with. Not fear the pure destruction that is sowed by all magic," Zero said before releasing a powerful beam of orange and green energy at the group of mages as he laughed in glee at the destruction.
Jura quickly raised his defence with a call of "Iron Rock Wall" once more as Gray added his "Ice-Make: Shield" to the defence. Jura however immediately felt a difference in power between Brain's previous attacks and now Zero's.
"This fight will be harder, somehow he got a boost to his power compared to the last time we fought," Jura warned as he shoved Gray and Lucy out of the way just as Zero's attack broke through their defence. While Lucy and Gray were spared any damage, Jura tanked the hit, putting him on the back foot from the start of the fight.
-With Erza and Wendy-
While the demon successfully defended against the Dragon Roar from Wendy without taking much damage, Wendy succeeded in buying Erza enough time to recover and get back on her feet, even though she felt the drain on her magic from using the Nakagami Starlight. Before the demon could attack again, the three magic users felt a build-up of a massive amount of magic.
As the build-up of magic suddenly exploded a beam of magic fired off from the city into the distance as more explosions went off somewhere else in the city. Wendy and Erza had confused expressions though the demon had another reaction.
"Those insolent infants of the world. They dare throw my power away that they siphoned from my core, power that should have returned to me," The demon roared as it saw the magic sailing away into the horizon.
"The resurrection of the ancient past will once more be delayed by the future that will not come as the destiny of the past is to claim the future. Now foolish infants, face the punishment for delaying destiny and fate and standing against the ever-constant changing of the future," The demon rasped in anger as it slammed an open palm on the ground and an explosion of magic power erupted from it. Pillars of purple flames started erupting across the ancient city and converging on all the mages present, be they light or dark.
Having seen the attack approaching, Erza and Wendy managed to dodge the pillar that would have engulfed them. They watched in shock as multiple pillars of the chaotic pink flames rose into the sky all across the city.
-With the Alliance mages-
"Rock Avalanche" Jura called out as he continued his attack on Zero. "Ice-Make: Shield" Gray called out as he erected his icy shield to protect himself and Lucy from an incoming beam of magic from Zero while she directed Sagittarius to assist with attacking the dark guild master. Zero laughed maniacally as he threw spells at any mage so unfortunate to be within his sight.
His maniacal expression quickly turned to surprise along with Jura as pink flames erupted from underneath their feet. Though the spell was powerful, their natural resilience and the fleeting moment they had to prepare allowed them to come out of the spell without any major damage. Gray wasn't so lucky as he was hit much harder, his shield was useless as this spell erupted from beneath his feet and he had no time to prepare any other sort of counter. Lucy caught a lucky break since Horologium came from the Spirit World just in time to save her from the spell, but he was quickly sent back.
Close by, Happy and Carla were knocked away from where they sat near Haru. They were lucky that they weren't targeted by the spells that erupted fountains of pink flames beneath all the mages, but since they were next to Haru, they did not escape some minor burns. Haru on the other hand was engulfed in the pink fire, though this was actually a fortunate turn of events as after consuming the flames, the Fire Dragon Slayer felt his stomach settle down from its constant churning.
"Now I'm fired up," the mage declared as he turned his eager and re-energised eyes on the battling mages.
-With Natsu-
Natsu was racing through the dense forest and had Nirvana in view when he saw pillars of pink flames reach for the sky. 'This is taking too long. The price of a few will be for the lives of many,' Natsu thought as he came to an abrupt halt. "Death God Field of Decay" Natsu softly muttered before an aura of death emanated from his form. The undergrowth instantly withered away as faint lines started pulsing on Natsu's body, the trees started to creek as their roots shrivelled up and the canopies lost their lush cover while streaks of purple hair invaded Natsu's pink mop of hair, and finally, the few scurrying creatures of the forest fell over in their new grave, devoid of all life as Natsu opened his royal purple eyes.
"I will use the life you have given and the death you now know to restore order from the chaos that has awakened," Natsu solemnly said in a voice that had a slight echo as the faint glowing lines on his body solidified in prominent purple lines, his hair fully changed to a mix of pink and purple, and his royal purple eyes glowed in the dark night.
"Ancient enemy of my Father, scourge of the old world, I will eradicate you," Natsu said as he rocketed off towards Nirvana at a faster pace than before with his cloak blowing off in his rush. Natsu easily located where the Changer of Ways was and quickly noticed that Erza and Wendy had engaged the demon.
Not wasting any time Natsu soon reached the scorched battlefield where he could see the ancient demon making progress in its battle with Erza and Wendy. "Death God Death Spear" Natsu shouted as he launched a black spear between the two mages and Demon, shortly following it and impacting the ground, causing a cloud of dust to surround him.
Erza was surprised and weary at the new arrival and didn't know who it was, friend or foe. Wendy was overjoyed as she heard Natsu calling out his spell and knew that the tide of this battle was sure to turn. And the Changer of Ways had a disgusted expression masking its rage at the magic of the new arrival.
"An abomination of fate, an insult of destiny. The Gods and Dragon combined into one should not exist on this plane," The Changer of Ways hissed in rage as Natsu's silhouette became visible.
"You have no right to make such claims. That right is reserved for the inhabitants of this world," Natsu countered as he became visible. Wendy looked in awe as she could see the power rolling off of the new form that Natsu was in while Erza felt relieved that help arrived.
"Two unnatural beings stand before me, a slave to the Dragons and spawn of the Gods. The ancient stage is set, and the constant past will be changed," The Changer of Ways said as a vortex of blue and pink surrounded it. Nirvana's movement grounded to a halt and the latent magic that flowed through the city converged on the demon. With a mighty roar the cocoon of pink and blue exploded and revealed a revitalised demon, gone were the ancient-looking feathers on its wings and the leathery and wrinkly skin. Now there stood a powerful being with gleaming feathers and a more prominent stature, magical power rippling over its lean body.
"Erza, fall back and recover your magic, as you are now you will only be a hindrance. Once you have rested you can rejoin the fray. Wendy now is the time to make Grandeeney proud and show all she has taught you," Natsu said to Erza before turning to Wendy and giving her a proud smile as his voice echoed slightly.
"Death God Death Scythe" Natsu declared as a pitch-black scythe materialised in his hand and as he swiped it in front of him to where it rested slightly behind him, a crackle of purple lighting shimmered in its path.
"I am Khalomious Waywing, The Alteration of the Constant, and this will be the resurrection of the ancient order as that which always was, will forever be once more," Khalomious roared with power as it started to form a sphere of pink and blue flames in its hand.
"I am Natsu Dragneel, son of Draco Mortem, and I will be your reckoning. Your time in this world has long since passed, and as per my Father's decree, you will be laid to rest in his realm," Natsu returned the unofficial greeting. 'Death God Bellow" Natsu roared out as a vortex of purple and black rushed Khalomious.
Not wanting to disappoint Natsu, Wendy quickly joined him with her own roar attack as she called out "Sky Dragon Roar". As Natsu's bellow matched Khalomious' stream of flames, Wendy managed to sneak her roar past the clash. Khalomious however was more aware of fighting two opponents from its previous fight with Erza and Wendy.
Raising its other hand and making a grasping motion before flicking its hand open, Khalomious ripped a rift in reality in the way of Wendy's roar, smaller than the one that pulled everything in a few moments ago, but powerful enough to consume the tornado of air.
Suddenly Khalomious saw Natsu appear to his left. Running low with his scythe trailing behind him and leaving a trail of purple sparks, Natsu called out "Death God Slash" as he stepped into Khalomious and released a point-blank condensed wave of purple and black energy at its torso. The power behind the slash attack sent Khalomious flying backwards to where Wendy was waiting for him with gales of air surrounding her hands.
"Sky Dragon Wing Attack" Wendy shouted as she slammed the gales down on the demon and changed its trajectory straight down.
Erza watched from the sideline as Natsu closed in on Khalomious once more this time with his scythe coming down vertically to meet the demon's staff in a power struggle. Erza was pleasantly surprised at how well Wendy was keeping out of reach of the primary battle and raining down any attack when she had a chance. Even though it irked her that she was sidelined, she knew it was the best option, and fortunately, this allowed her to observe the battle and get a better perspective on how she could best aid when she gets involved in the fight.
"Sky Dragon Arrow" Wendy shouted as Khalomious and Natsu battled for dominance over their locked weapons. The slight distraction Wendy provided gave Natsu the opportunity to hook his scythe over the demon's staff as he pulled downwards hard, breaking the defence Khalomious had and allowing him to get in a solid hit as he called out "Death God Kick" before slamming his magic covered foot down on Khalomious.
Jumping back just before Khalomious had the chance to try and retaliate, Natsu faced the demon as Wendy kept her distance, keeping close enough to Natsu careful not to isolate herself for the demon to capitalise on.
"The flow of battle is fluid, as fate's path is laid in a flowing river, this battle will change its decided route," Khalomious declared. "Rise spawn of the chaotic powers of fate and overrun those who defy it's constantly changing path," Khalomious roared as he brought both his hands together but facing outwards. Making a grabbing motion in mid-air with his hands, Khalomious let a malicious grin leak onto his maw before he started to pull his hands apart.
At first, nothing happened, from Wendy and Natsu's point of view, but Erza, having a better view of the entire battlefield, saw a shimmer in her peripheral vision. As Khalomious tore his hands apart, Erza saw a rift open behind Wendy and Natsu. Quickly understanding that something was about to happen, Erza decided that she needed to act.
"Behind you," Erza shouted as she dashed towards Wendy as the first mass of writhing limbs of pink flesh stumbled out of the rift. It let out a screech of joy before charging at the unsuspecting Wendy.
Natsu cast a quick glance behind them as he heard Erza's call. He saw the creatures that started spilling from the rift rush forward like a tidal wave of limbs, but seeing that Erza was already approaching them and having the threat of Khalomious still in front of him, he made the decision not to rush to Wendy's aid.
"Deal with them as quick as possible," Natsu shouted at Erza and Wendy before he returned his attention to Khalomious and released another spell, calling out "Death God Bellow".
Wendy turned just in time to see the pink creature lunging for her. Not having the combat experience comparable to Erza or Natsu, she was unable to raise a counterattack as he mind was overrun by the surprise. Luckily she saw a silver blade rip through the creature as her guardian angel's scarlet hair once more swayed in front of her as she was saved again by Erza.
"Give aid as you see an opening, I will face these creatures and Natsu is busy with Khalomious," Erza said before throwing herself into the fray while Wendy watched in amazement as she switched between her armours at a renewed speed, using armours like her Lightning Empress Armour or Heaven's Wheel Armour to dispatch of groups while opting for her Flight Armour or Adamantine Armour to dodge or block blows from the hordes of limbs that mindlessly rushed her.
Wendy quickly spun around and took a look at how Natsu was faring. She was him getting pushed back by a barrage of blue magical missiles while he tried his best to either counter or dodge them. Before she had a chance to act though, the barrage momentarily subsided and gave Natsu an opening to begin his counterattack as he called out "Death God Decaying Advance". Wendy could only see a trail of purple and black that weaved its way through the rays of cold blue. Then she heard Natsu's voice one more as the trail of purple and black reached Khalomious. "Death God Secret Art: Death's Final Cut".
Wendy decided to aid Erza first as this would allow them both to join Natsu and together with Erza they can make a more meaningful difference in the fight against Khalomious compared to her aiding alone. Seeing the energy blade that was released from Natsu's scythe, Wendy called upon her magic as she spun around and called out "Sky Dragon Arrow" as a barrage of wisps of air assaulted the horde of demonic beings that flooded forward.
"Focus on the ones further to the back of the portal they are coming through, I can deal with the front," Erza ordered as she saw the condensed wisps of air tearing through a mass of demonic limbs close to her. After giving the order Erza used the wings on her Heaven's Wheel Armour to momentarily distance herself from the horde that surrounded her and called out "Circle Sword". A circle of razor-sharp blades formed behind her as she held a palm facing forward. "Dance my blades" Erza commanded as she flicked her palm to now face downwards.
The whirling of the blades was overshadowed by the crunching of bones and ripping of flesh as Erza's swords ripped through the demonic beings and cleared out a large chunk of the horde. Wendy turned to her more powerful spells, as limited as they were, to hopefully plug the rift somehow. "Sky Dragon Wing Attack" Wendy called out as she slammed the whips of air into the rift and the demonic creatures that were spilling out.
"Sky Dragon Roar" Wendy followed up before she had to roll backwards to avoid a lunging creature. 'This is a lot harder without Carla to having my back. I hope you are back on your feet and on your way,' Wendy thought as she called out Sky Dragon Claw" and sent a wind-enhanced kick at the creature before returning her attention to the rift.
Natsu released his Secret Art as the energy wave raced towards Khalomious. The demon conjured its magic to erect a massive barrier of cold blue energy. Purple and black clashed with cold blue as the two powers vied for dominance. "Death God Secret Art: Death's Final Downfall" Natsu shouted as a ball of magical energy erupted from nothingness above Khalomious.
"The gods were always beneath the demons as fate decreed, and this day will not sway from that eternal path," Khalomious roared out as he conjured another barrier above him.
"It does not matter who stands above who, as with all things the only true constant is that Death will come for all as He is the ultimate Master of Fate and Destiny," Natsu said as his voice echoed itself around the desolated part of the city.
"Do not spew such falsehood as my immortal reign is about to begin," Khalomious roared in rage before he started chanting in an ancient language. As his chant started the rift that spilled out demonic horrors closed and the cold blue barriers started to wane against the power of the Secret Arts of the Death God. Cracks started to rip at the fabric of reality as a chorus of voices seeped through from beyond, chanting in the same ancient tongue as Khalomious.
"This world will be the plaything of those who rule over Fate and serve the ever-constant change. What was once the common state lost to the changing history will embrace the consistent future," Khalomious declared as the cracks widened into tears and a demonic void peered out.
"Throw everything you have left at him," Natsu's command echoed itself before he spread his hands wide and started to draw in all the residual magic from the defeated demonic horrors. Decayed wings spread from his shoulder blades and the glowing lines on his arms gained an ethereal scaly pattern. His eyes remained a royal blue but his pupils morphed into a slit. The Dragon God's avatar has descended once more.
Erza was quick to refocus on Khalomious as the horde of monsters ended. But she was surprised by the amount of power both Khalomious and Natsu were putting out. 'Everything we have left? Sounds like something that embodies the Fairy Tail guild,' Erza thought to herself with a slight smirk. "Re-quip: Armadura Fairy" Erza called out as a pink armour with a simple yet protective set of armour adorned by many pink wing-shaped decorations clad her form. A tiara on her head with feather-shaped protrusions alongside the purplish-white cape that flapped in the winds formed by the magic at play created the image that morphed Erza's image into one that could be mistaken for a Fairy warrior.
"The pride of Fairy Tail follows me as I wear this armour and the strength of the guild flows through my sword," Erza declared as she pointed her blade with a pink handguard reminiscing a pair of seraph wings with the Fairy Tail insignia in the spherical jewel in the centre at Khalomious.
"I don't have much magic left, but I will do all I can, for Natsu and Erza," Wendy steeled herself. "Sky Dragon Roar" Wendy's shout started the final clash as a tornado of air attacked Khalomious. At the same time, Erza released the build-up of power she had focused on her sword as she shouted "Fairy Burst". Erza flew forward at the helm of Wendy's attack, using the momentum to further increase her speed and power as green energy crackled around her.
"Be released from the Sorcerer's Realm and decimate their false Fate as Destiny decrees," Khalomious' voice boomed over the sea of chanting as the tears in reality ripped open into chaotic gateways to a realm of cold blue darkness.
"Death has declared its verdict. Khalomious Waywing, The Alteration of the Constant, in the name of Draco Mortem you have been declared guilty of defying Death and claiming immortality. Your punishment will be erasure," Natsu said in a voice that belonged to higher beings as his previous two attacks which still vied against the barriers for dominance got consumed by the swirling black, grey and purple energy that blocked out the sky.
"You are too late abomination. The demonic followers of Fate and servants of Destiny have breached the threshold. Even the Fate of Death itself will falter and I will rise once more," Khalomious announced in glee as demons started to emerge. Demons that looked similar to Khalomious entered the mortal plain as reality was warping at their mere presence as the ruined city became fluid, buildings rebuilding themselves while crumbling away, stones turning to dust and dust solidifying in smooth stones and the air condensing into small vortexes of blue and pink swirls.
A single state of normality, a single line of reality invaded the chaos of change. Erza broke through the warping world surrounded by crackling green energy and a tornado of air. She plunged her blade into Khalomious' abdomen and pinned him to the ground as her blade passed through his body. The force of Wendy's roar carried Erza further as she lost her grip on her sword and tumbled away. As Khalomious' concentration was broken the rifts started to falter.
"No, Fate has been decreed, the ways have been set," Khalomious growled as he struggled to rip free from the blade pining him down while his rifts to the Sorcerer's Realm began to close.
"Death Dragon God Forbidden Art: Death's Eternal Embrace" Natsu declared as he brought his magic down on the warping reality. The chaotic magic was consumed by the purple, grey and black swirling magic. The expected roar in rage or screams of pain never came as only a deathly silence reigned over the desolated ruins of the city. As the chaotic magic dispersed the thundering silence remained in the desolate and colourless world.
"Is it all over?" Wendy asked, creating a spark of colour in the desolate world. Two more sparks of colour entered the world as Erza scanned the area for any signs of remaining foes while Natsu made his way over to the young Dragon Slayer. During Natsu's approach, his Godly Dragon form faltered and he returned to his human form.
"It seems like we have done it," Natsu said as he sunk to a knee in front of Wendy due to the exhaustion and damage he took during his fight. He laid a comforting hand on Wendy's head as he proudly smiled at her.
"Only one question remains, is the Oracion Seis still standing or have our comrades prevailed against them as well," Erza voiced as she joined the two.
-With the Allied forces-
Though it was a hard battle against the leader of the Oracion Seis Zero, the allied mages had reached a point where their victory was in sight. Jura was the ever-steady rock of the allied forces as he kept up a powerful defence while unleashing his devastating attack while Gray filled in the gaps or breaches of Jura's defence. Lucy commanded Sagittarius away from the front line as he rained down ranged attacks and Haru found himself in the thick of the fight, squaring up with Zero. The strange pink flames that assaulted all the combatants hadn't returned but with it giving Haru rejuvenated strength the defeat of Zero came easier, though by no means was it a walk in the park.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Crimson Lotus: Fire Dragon Fist" Haru shouted out as he rapidly delivered a series of uppercuts on Zero, each followed by an explosion before sending him into the air. "Ice-Make: Cannon" Gray called out as he launched a massive ice ball at the airborne Zero quickly followed by Lucy chanting "Gate of the Archer: Sagittarius, grant my weapon precision and accuracy" as a green aura surrounded her whip before she released a crack from her whip that sent a condensed shockwave at Zero while Sagittarius released another volley of arrows. Standing as the finisher, Jura summoned a golden aura around him as he strongly stated "Supreme King Rock Crush" causing all the stones and rocks in the area to converge on the nearly defeated Zero before they enveloped him. With a pulse of powerful magic, the stones detonated and dealt the final blow to Zero as he fell back to the ground, defeated.
"We did it," Gray breathed out in exhaustion but a grin was plastered on his face.
"Zero has been defeated and the assumption would be that with his defeat, all of the Oracion Seis is defeated as well," Jura confirmed.
"What were those pink flames though, do we know what caused that?" Lucy asked.
"It is still a mystery to me, but it does not seem like the source is affiliated with the Oracion Seis, seeing that Zero was also a target," Jura replied.
"Whatever it was, it gave me quite a boost," Haru said happily with a large grin.
"We still have a problem. If you haven't noticed, Nirvana is still standing," Carla voiced as she and Happy joined the group. As if in answer another surge in magic alerted all the mages of the weapon starting to power up once more.
"Can this stupid city just stop working," Haru shouted in anger as he surrounded his fist in flames before bringing it down on the ground where he stood. Coincidentally he was standing in the middle of the altar and his punch reverberated throughout the structure as the magic circles that Brain activated Nirvana with started to glow once more.
"Look what you have done moron," Gray chastised Haru as panic started to set in as they believed the weapon will fire once more, this time most likely hitting its target of Cait Shelter.
"You stupid brute" Carla shouted but her anger was overshadowed by fear for her guild. Before more accusations could be said, the magic circle cracked and shattered with six distinct cracks filled with fire magic spread to the six legs of the city.
"I broke it, now this stupid city should stop," Haru said confidently.
"You just got lucky," Lucy said with a sweat drop but a smile.
"The build-up of power has still to be dispersed, we can not celebrate this victory just yet," Jura informed them as the weapon was still gathering power.
"So what, is something going to blow up?" Haru asked.
"You are correct, young mages," an aged voice said. The group's eyes fell on an old man donning an attire that resembled that of a Native American Chief, as the old man observed them with sorrow-filled eyes.
"Master Roubaul, what are you doing here?" Carla asked her Guild Master.
"Much needs to be said young Carla, but now is not the time. The source of Nirvana's power comes from two sources, one is the weapon's source which has been vanquished, but the source that holds the city together is the very ground it walks on. The specifics are not important, but what is, is that since the main controls have been destroyed, there is no regulation of the raw magic Nirvana siphons from the earth," Roubaul sadly explained.
"So that is the build-up we can sense, and once this reaches a critical mass..." Jura trailed off as he realised the implications of the explanation.
"Indeed, but there is a way to prevent this. Nirvana's magical connections all converge here, and if an adequate amount of power is forced on the siphons, then they can be destroyed. The time is coming near when disaster will strike. For this I will issue a request, please young mages, prevent the destruction of the Worth Wood Sea by limiting the detonation radius as much as possible," Roubaul requested.
"How do we know this will work?" Lucy asked.
"And how do you know so much about Nirvana," Gray asked with suspicion in his tone.
"As I mentioned, there is much to explain," Roubaul explained before Jura interrupted him.
"We accept the request," Jura stated as he started to gather magical power.
"Destruction is my speciality," Haru said with a grin while Happy cheered meekly for his partner.
"I can't allow you to outshine me," Gray stated as he also dropped into his maker stance.
Lucy was about to step up as well, but she was blocked by an outstretched arm from Roubaul.
"They will need someone to get them out once they have depleted their magic," Roubaul said. Understanding what he meant, Lucy took a step back while looking at her keys and thinking of which ones would provide the best support for what her task would be.
"On my mark, release your power," Jura commanded. "Now," Jura said before calling out "Rock Avalanche". Gray called out "Ice-Make: Geyser" while Haru shouted "Fire Dragon Roar". The combination of rock, ice and fire decimated the top of the altar as gold, blue and orange energy ran across the city to the six legs. An explosion rocked the ground the mages were standing on before they felt the ground starting to give way.
"Now you must leave. The integrity of Nirvana is breached and it will soon collapse in on itself," Roubaul's voice said as his body already faded.
'A projection?' Jura mused, however, he quickly shook the thought as he turned to Lucy.
"Can one of your spirits assist in carrying these two?" Jura asked as he waved towards the magically drained Haru and Gray.
"I have just the spirit for this," Lucy confirmed before calling upon Taurus.
"Good, follow me," Jura said before dashing off with Lucy and Taurus, who was carrying Haru and Gray over his shoulders, followed close by.
-With Natsu, Erza and Wendy-
"We need to get out of here now," Erza said with urgency as the shaking stopped after the explosion.
"Can you run?" Natsu asked Wendy who gave a quick nod, "Then let's go," he continued.
Hi everyone, sorry for the delay, I had a hard drive failure and lost quite a bit of progress and had to rework quite a bit of this chapter. I am back in action now. On to this chapter, it spells the end of the Oracion Seis Arc apart from wrapping up the Cait Shelter guild story, and after this, I will have a small arc before we get into Edolas. Please let me know your thoughts on this chapter with a review and I will see you next time
