She felt the residual flare of power as they landed, undoubtedly from his mother's displeasure at being faced with Jaken, and she idly wondered if she would go as far as enter Sesshoumaru's room without permission.

Kagome snorted. Jaken just had, along with herself, for that matter, so it wasn't out of the realm of possibilities. "Maybe you should invest in some locks," she said, a smile tugging at her lips.

"They would do little to deter her," he replied, giving her a sideways glance. "And you."

It was a full-blown smile now, and she draped her arms over his shoulders, her fingers barely teasing the back of his neck with the height difference. "But you like it when I'm in your room."

"It has only happened once." His expression was passive, but his eyes held a heat that had her stomach muscles clenching. "Perhaps it is something I need to get used to."

"Meaning I should do it more often?"

He wanted to say yes, she could see it on his face, but he glanced back up at his balcony and sighed. "It will have to wait until after my mother's visit."

"But you've been gone for a month!" Her fingers tightened around his collar. "There's no way you got enough sleep last night to compensate for being away for so long!" It certainly hadn't been enough for her. He lowered his head, sliding his cheek along hers in apology, and she pursed her lips. "She doesn't know about your insomnia, does she?"

"Actually, she does," he admitted. "And has offered up other remedies that did little to help. It is likely the reason why she is here."

"So just tell her you figured it out—" A single shake of his head reaffirmed his answer, and she grumbled. "Fine. But I expect extra snuggles after she's gone!"
