Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.

The forest was strange. The trees weren't particularly tall, and their trunks and branches were made from dark green crystal. Hanging from each branch was a large, light green, glowing crystal shard. All the green reminded Shin of Morgan and the other witches, it was...disturbing. When she got close to one of the shards, it glowed brighter and within it she saw...herself? Younger and practicing with her lightsaber as Baylan instructed her. "Very good Shin," the memory of Baylan said, "You are improving."

"Thank you Master." Shin walked away from the crystal, only to come face-to-face with another one. A much more recent memory.

"You're ambition drives you in one direction. My path lies in another." Tears came to Shin's eyes as she hurried past that crystal. Everywhere she turned, she was surrounded by more memories. Each one cutting sharper than a knife. She started to run, only to come face-to-face with yet another memory. This one made her stop though. She was much younger in this memory, only twelve. The younger version of her tossed and turned in her sleep before awakening with a scream and bursting into tears. A slightly younger Baylan rushed into the room, sitting on the edge of the bed, "What's wrong Shin?" The younger version of Shin practically launched herself at Baylan, wrapping her small arms around him.

"Please, don't let them get me," she said, "Please don't let them get me."

"I won't," Baylan had responded, wrapping his arms around her tiny, sobbing frame, "I'll always protect you, Shin. I promise." Shin wiped tears from her eyes as the memory faded, leaving only the glowing crystal. He had promised to protect her, and yet he had sent her away without any true explanation. He had broken his promise. Or had he? Could it be, perhaps, that he had been sending her away...to protect her? Shin forced herself to continue moving. There wasn't time to reminisce or wallow. The forest began to dissipate, and she soon found herself walking on a golden pathway. The ground around the pathway became sandy, and the golden path soon turned into a set of stairs. A shimmering ocean stretched out beneath the stairs, and Shin could see that the sun was indeed setting. She needed to move, quickly.
