The training is finished and I get back on time right before the ranking ceremony. The first stage ranking is announced tonight. I have the document for Alexander and Jessica . I give it to Jessica and Jessica smiles at me

"Thank you Delia . I think that you should join them" she points at the crowd

The crowd is huge . I sneak past people to reach the front. Alexander is standing on the stage and I slowly walk behind him

"So those of you who ranked above the red line will continue to go to second stage of training and those of you who are below it will become factionless ."Alexander stops for a while. "You have to leave before tomorrow . Here is your rank."

The screen goes on and everyone are so focused . Jason is the first and Jenny is second . Following by Richard , Jessica , Laura and so on. I scroll down the list and six people are cut.

3of them are dauntless born and 3are transfers . Equal amount of them , I smile a little.

"So now you can enjoy your party. Let's celebrate your success." I clap my hand

Everyone cheer except those of them who didn't survive . I can see their disappointment from their face . I walk toward the stair

"Delia." Someone calls behind me

I turn around and I see Jason walker is walking toward me

"Someone leave a note on your office table. I am sorry that I didn't catch who is it." Jason hands me the note

I take it and pat his shoulder . He is stronger than I believe

"Thank you Jason. Congratulation for your first stage rank." I smile faintly. "I have to get going."

I rush upstair and open the door . I don't have mood for the party. I open the note .

"Meet me at the track around 10pm tonight and hop on the last car . I will show you where you will be going ."

No name to be found . I crumple the paper . Did Jason sees it? Did he knows the man who use his life threaten me to corporate ? I hope that he never find out.

I walk around the chasm. I hear the roar of the river near my ear . I don't know how did those people feel when they jumped off the cliff.

Did they scream ? Did they regret the choice of sense of relief . I have to do it for Jason for whatever they asked me to do . I can't let his divergence to reveal to the wrong people especially erudite .

I am more like abnegation now who is willing to sacrifice themselves for other people's good . If my grandma is here , she will support me

I watch the clock. It is 8:40. I will take a shower and go. I return to my room. I open the light and take a new set of cloth from my closet. It is a tank top and a short. I go into my bathroom and open the hot water

I sit on the edge of the tub . I am thinking and staring at the wall. What is my mission ? Where are they going to send me to.

I let the hot water run on my skin for a long time almost for 20 minutes . Then I get out of the shower and put on my shirt

It is 9:30. It is pretty late . I sneak out of the room. Lucky. Jason isn't here , Jennifer is . She is leaning against the wall

"I wander why Jason walker is so obsessive with you." Jennifer smirks.

"I don't know too but he is my initiate and also you as well . So shut up and leave me alone ." I scream at her

"I will not leave until you tell me why." Jennifer grabs my arm

My left hand finds my gun. She stiffens .

"If you don't leave me alone , then I don't mind shoot you." I say

"Fine , whatever ." Jennifer snorts

I leave quickly and start running . I run out of the compound and stand there in the wind . The wind is warm but feel chilly. I have nothing to do with anyone out here . Who is that person ? Why does he wants to see me ?

The train comes and I wait until the last one shows up and jump into it. I look around and see no one . Is that a joke maybe ? Someone trying to play a joke on me

Well, no . I see him. Mark , he is standing in front of me . I am staring at him blankly.

"Delia , long time no see ." Mark stretches his arms. "Come ."

"Are you insane? You supposed to be dead . I rather you are dead instead of alive like this !" I scream at him.

"Delia, stop shouting at me . I am going to bring you somewhere . Where you can see the truth of the city." Mark extends her hand. "I will also tell you what mission you will receive after a year and half from now on."

The truth of the city? I always feel something is happening and is that going to show from the truth

"Can I trust you? You already broke the trust." I raise my eyebrow

"Of course Delia. I never lie to you. I never want to leave you." Mark walks near me

I just stand there with him. I want to know the truth and I do . I can trust mark again and I am sure of it. When it is closer to the fringe , we jump off the train. I see three people standing there with their arms folded

"Is she Delia?" The girl says .

"Yes she is Delia . My initiate and now the ambassador and the instructor of dauntless ." Mark smiles at the girl. "Delia , this is Zoe and this is Matthew and Romit."

"Delia prior ?" Romit scoffs

Prior ? Is that my family name? I never know it

"Prior ? I only know my name is Delia . I don't even know my parent. They are dead ." I shake my head

"They are still alive . Plus you have sisters and brother already." Zoe smiles . "Come with us and we will show you."

"What? They are alive? Where are them." I am surprised

My eyes are watery . I really want to have a dad and mom who can take care of me . I give in and follow them on the truck. Zoe sits in the driver's seat and start driving.

I sit beside mark who is silent. He is wearing soldier's uniform and he looks much more handsome

"Where are they going to take me ." I ask

"Somewhere amazing." Mark says

I do believe him so I remain quiet. When the truck comes near a big building, where the light are up all night.

"Here is the bureau of genetic welfare . The truth is there . I will lead you to see our leader ." Zoe gets off the truck

I get off the truck with her and follow her . When we reach the door , the guard stops us

"Weapon in the bucket and you can take them when you leave ."

I take my gun and put them in the bucket. Zoe leads me to upstair into an office . A grey hair man stands there

"Sir Delia is here ." Zoe bowls her head

"Thank you Zoe . You can go right now ."the man nods at Zoe

Zoe leaves and the man turns around . I am staring at him

"My name is David . The leader of the bureau of genetic welfare." David beckons to me . "Sit down."

"I rather not to say." I am so tensed

"Dauntless seems get into you." David giggles . "It didn't get to your instructor mark."

I am shivering. How does he knows about me and my instructor .

"Tell me the truth about the city and I want to know everything." I say arrogantly.

"It isn't sound like your mother will say."David shrugs

"My mother ? Dauntless told me that she and my dad are both dead ." I step back

David shakes his head . He doesn't seem to be lying.

"Your mother is from the fringe . She was inserted into Detroit. Therefore your city is an experiment . About genetic damage and pure ." David explains. "After we found that she is genetically pure , we bring her back and reinserted her in Chicago. Another experiment we have in another city. You just left in Detroit with her mother ."

"So what are you going to do to me if I believe what you are saying." I narrow my eyes at him

"I will reinsert you into Chicago as well but you have to be inserted with our memory serum to forget everything. Then you will have to choose dauntless from abnegation." David rolls his eyes . "Your mom didn't listen to me so she chose abnegation instead of erudite ."

My mother , is she still alive ? Is that the truth? David seems to be telling the truth.

"What if I don't work with you !" I says "I don't need to say yes."

"I believe you care about Jason walker right?" David walks closer to me

"What are you going to do to him!" I am scared now . "What are you going to do

I know what he is going to do if I don't corporate .

"If you don't work,then I will release his divergent information to erudite and I will help them get rid of him." David says

"I will do it . I will." I shiver . "My eyes are watery. "In exchange, please protect him okay?"

"I will alternate all his record to non divergence as I promised . Now I will give you an iPad , your mom wrote the journal back to us and it will show you that I am right." David hands me a small piece of machine . "Zoe comes in please . You have to get rid of piece of memory from today but not all of them"

I get the iPad . Zoe inserts something into my neck and I feel dizzy so I fall on the ground.

When I wake up, I am in my own apartment. Alexander is sitting beside me

"Alex! Why am I here?" I am surprised

"You lay on the ground on the rooftop. Are you okay?" Alexander holds my hand . "I and Jessica are worried ."

"I am fine ." I rub my head
