I'm back!
Life has been rough lately. But I'm back and I hope everyone enjoys!
"You examinees will enter the disaster scene as bystanders and will undertake a rescue exercise. You will not act as ordinary civilians, but as those who have hypothetically earned their provisional Hero Licenses. You're being tested on how well you respond in rescue situations."
The screen flashed to show kids and elders walking around the rubbish.
"Everyone there is a highly trained Professional Rescuee and in high demand as of late. Please welcome the good people of Help Us Company, or H.U.C. for short. The member of H.U.C. will be feigning injuries all across the field. It is your task to rescue them. You will all be scored on how well you perform these rescues. Those who attain the required points at the end of the test will pass. We'll start in ten minutes so take your bathroom breaks now."
Haru bounced with excitement before using her ten minutes to sit and try to meditate while her classmates were being loud. Suddenly the intercom came back on with yelling catching everyone's attention.
"Terrorists have launched a massive attack! There's wide scale destruction throughout the city. Buildings are collapsing and people are hurt!"
Haru grinned and stood up.
"With most of the roads out of commission, rescue and relief squads are having a hard time reaching the scene!"
The building the students were in began to unfold.
"Until they arrive, it's up to you Heroes to take charge and rescue civilians. Save every life you can!"
As soon as the building was done unfolding everyone took off. Haru vaguely heard Midoriya mention staying together, for once Haru disagreed and separated into a different section. Quickly spotting a child on his hands and knees, blood pouring from his head screaming.
"Over there! My grandpa's trapped! Ah! He's getting crushed!"
Haru knelt down to talk to the child.
"Easy, I'm here to help. Can you walk? Are you feeling sick?"
The child continued to cry while Haru carefully checked the wound before helping the child up and carrying him to the waiting room that had been marked as a first aid station. Quickly dropping off the child and giving a quick explanation to the nurse of the child's injuries before running back to where the child had pointed for his grandpa. Slowly Haru recused more and more people, removing rubble with her whip as she went. Hearing an explosion made her pause before continuing her job. There's so many candidates here it makes more sense for some of us to keep getting people out of danger as quickly as possible. After saving a grumpy old woman who couldn't move her leg, Haru kept working with the other students getting the injured out of the destruction and out of the way of the battle, until they heard the loud speaker kick on.
"AHEM! AT PRESENT EVERY LAST H.U.C. MEMBER ON THE FIELD HAS BEEN RESCUED FROM IMPENDING DANGER. THEREFORE I DECLARE THAT THIS TEST IS OVER!"
Haru sighed and sat down feeling the limits of her quirk.
"THE RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ONCE ALL SCORES ARE TALLIED. THOSE WITH INJURIES, PLEASE PROCEED TO THE MEDICAL AREA. EVERYONE ELSE, GET CHANGED AND STAND BY FOR INSTRUCTIONS."
Seeing a hand in her face, Haru smiled at Bakugo as he helped her up and they walked towards the changing rooms with the rest of the students.
"That was intense."
Haru sighed out while stretching.
"It wasn't that bad, extra."
Haru managed a giggle before the two separated and Haru changed with her class before walking back out to the arena.
"I wonder what's next?"
Haru asked while looking around.
"We all did the best we could."
Ochako patted her shoulder as they waited to hear who would be getting their license.
Finally the sleepy judge from the start stepped up to the podium.
"It's been a long battle, boys and girls, but now it's time for the results…before that, though…regarding the scoring system…we of the Heroes public safety commission, along with the members of the H.U.C….were deducting points on two issues as we watched you perform. Essentially…we judged you on your ability to act flawlessly in a crisis. Anyhow, here are the names of those who passed the test, in alphabetical order. Keeping everything I've said in mind, please take a look."
With that the screen lit up filled with names. Haru scanned the screen and started bouncing when she saw her name on the list. She had actually done it! Slowly her classmates that passed celebrated. Bakugo gritted his teeth when his name wasn't listed.
"I assume you've all had a chance to view the results. Next, we'll be handing out score sheets. We've explained the scoring system in detail, so read them over carefully."
A few men in suits started handing out the score sheets and Haru happily took hers to see she had a few deductions from the rescue for not helping with the villain. Momo walked over to her asking what she got.
"I got a 93. What did you get?"
Momo smiled.
"I got a 94."
The pair grinned at each other as their classmates gathered going over everyones sheets.
"Going forward, those who passed now have the legal right to act in Heroic capacity, but only during emergencies. That means fighting people in Disaster scenarios..even without a professional Hero's guidance, you're permitted to take action on your own. But keep in mind that every action you take…comes with a heavy responsibility to society. As you all know, the great Hero All Might is out of commission. His active presence served as an important deterrent to crime."
Haru drowned out the rest of the speech, already knowing the reason the exams had been so tough was because there was a fear, now that All Might wasn't a Hero, that the Villains would take over. After the speech was over the students that passed had their picture taken and were handed their licenses. With a wild grin, Haru took a picture of it and sent it to Toshinori before boarding the bus with her class.
Toshinori tried to keep his anger contained as the investigator drove him home. His interrogation of All For One had been a waste of his time, he learned nothing on why the League of Villains wanted Haru nor did he learn anything about the whereabouts of Shigaraki. His phone buzzing caught his attention, opening it he felt himself smile with pride as he opened the image of Haru's provisional license.
Back at the dorms Haru had changed and was sitting alone looking at the stars when she heard Midoriya and Bakugo in the distance.
"What could they be doing up?"
She wondered to herself before walking in the direction she heard them.
That's it for now!
I'll see everyone next time!
