Chapter 33 ~ Sora VS Yumi
Sora arrived at the plaza near the entrance into Hanzo National Academy, where the snow has built at a decent height, making him flashback to his torturous time in Arendelle, when he kept climbing and falling down the large mountain where Elsa's castle was…
Despite his experience with snow, the layout was beautiful enough to catch him off guard as the glistening white snowflakes continued to fall upon the area, with the evening light posts lit up the area…
Sora decided to sit under the cherry blossom tree and watch the sky slowly light up while the morning was inching closer.
"...sorry Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff, but as far as winter worlds go…Kabukicho has winter down to an appropriate A+." Sora said. He then pulled out Kairi's Lucky Charm, feeling almost at peace in this chosen battleground between him and the Gessen Academy leader…
A white and blue mist gathered before Sora, and appearing through it, was Yumi, whose radiant, suggestive, and beautiful appearance came before him, with her traditional yukata and fans by her side. Yumi walked up to the Keyblade Wielder and said, "You've proven your speed, endurance, strength, and even skill, especially around one of my own allies, who has spoken against me on your behalf. Clearly, you have made your superiority clear…but now, you will take part in the last, and MOST difficult Trial of them all…the Trial of the Heart!"
"-Why did you choose this place to fight me?" Sora asked. Yumi answered, "I felt you would feel more at peace when you started your Ninja Training under Hanzo's school-." Sora then said, "Honestly, I think you wanted me here to see this…the snow covering the plaza." Yumi felt somewhat underappreciated as she said, "THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL DIE, WHY ELSE WOULD I WANT TO BRING YOU HERE-?!"
Sora explained, "Because as bad as my situation is, it's still nice to take a walk and see the outside once and a while, especially during the winter. It's sort of an ice age in the city until I completed all of your trials…but…seeing this…the cherry tree surrounded by falling snow while the sky is beginning to get brighter…I may have to sleep in after all this, but all this…what you gave to this city…well…I really needed to see this…I've never felt so happy to be in a snowy place, and it's thanks to your magic."
Yumi was somewhat touched to hear such words from the boy she was going to kill…
"Even when facing a guillotine…you would remark at your surroundings more than the situation? Aren't you scared to die? If you perish, your mission, true or not, will never be completed." Sora then said, "The mission…do you know why I took the mission to face the Fiends?" Yumi answered, "My spies told me you had someone waiting for you in the other world…someone worth fighting demons and witches for." Sora nodded and showed Yumi Kairi's Lucky Charm…
Yumi looked at the charm and asked, "Your 'someone'...she created this?" Sora nodded while asking, "Wanna hold it?" Yumi didn't know what to say, so Sora took her hand and placed the Charm in her hand, letting her look at it…
As Yumi examined it, Sora explained, "Kairi made the Good Luck Charm out of Thalassa Shells. It's cute, right?" Yumi then said, "...it's…it's the cutest thing I've seen…" Yumi offered it back to Sora while he explained, "Based off the Island's Paupu Fruit, these charms were made to grant good luck to sailors leaving the Islands. The fruit, if shared, makes the destinies of the sharers intertwined with one another, making them a part of each other's lives forever. And so the Charm acts as an expansion of that shared destiny, it acts as a promise to reunite the travelers with one another, bringing them home anytime, while securing a safe journey."
"A Wayfinder? You and the islanders make Wayfinders?" Yumi asked. Sora nodded while wondering, "W-well, normally we just call them 'lucky charms', but Wayfinder? Never heard of that…but still, it sounds about right. Where did you hear that name for the charms?"
"It won't matter once you're dead."
Yumi's vicious interruption caused Sora to step back while Yumi took a few steps away and said, "...you're an innocent, childish, soft-hearted, fool who should NEVER have had the Keyblade…talking with you was infectious and…fun, makes me wish we met under different circumstances. I mean, you ARE a wonderful person…I just wish…I wish I never met the one I had to kill."
Sora summoned his Keyblade and asked, "If I defeat you, you HAVE to answer my questions, alright? There's a lot of them, thanks to Toki, I have more questions than answers, so one friend to another, promise me you'll answer them if you can…IF I win." Yumi however said, "ENOUGH! YOU are the one judged guilty, YOU are taking the Trials, and YOU are no friend of mine!" Sora shook his head and said, "We're not enemies though, THAT much is true." Yumi argued, "According to you. But as far as a partially destroyed city and sightings of a Keybearer near some 'dark creatures' are involved, you are a suspect!" Sora then said, "I SAVED YOUR LIFE?! WHY DO YOU WANT TO HATE ME SO MUCH?!" Yumi then explained, "I'm not judging you because I hate you…it's because I suspect you. It's like the Americans say…you are 'Proven until you're Guilty'."
A split second, and Sora found his feet frozen, stuck to the ground while Yumi created countless icicle spikes and shot them at Sora…
Sora attempted to block a number of them while saying, "Where's Riku when I need him!"
But at the last second, a missile-sized icicle was shot at Sora, forcing him to dodge it! Suddenly, several more giant ice spikes came his way!
"You can't dodge my Black Ice for long, each shot I send has the nasty side effect that reduces the speed of the dodging opponent!" Yumi yelled out while Sora noticed his shoes were somehow getting frost stuck on the ends that were inadvertently sticking to the ground…
Clearly, the Black Ice technique Yumi was using was freezing everything it passed, including Sora, so Sora chose to block the next one to attack Yumi directly!
After several combos, Sora unleashed his Fire spell, knocking Yumi a few steps away!
Yumi then blocked Sora's follow-up assault and unleashed a wave of ice that covered Sora in a wave of ice, freezing him instantly!
Changing her fans into Ice-Blades, Yumi rushed to finish her opponent off…
…until Sora managed to break the ice, stunning her momentarily while he swung his Keyblade up, sending Yumi flying!
While she was in the air, Sora unleashed several more sword combos, and finished with another Fire spell, forcing Yumi to use a powerful wave of frost to push Sora back and disappear in a misty cloud!
"Delay all you want, but your head WILL be mine!" Yumi screamed as she reappeared behind Sora, turning the frost around her into multiple blades while dancing fiercely towards Sora with an endless barrage of blades rushing towards the Keybearer!
Getting caught in ONE of those attacks will shred Sora into pieces, so he attempted to dodge each one, until he noticed this blade-dance of Yumi's was gathering all the surrounding snow and ice around him, turning each into LARGER blades that began to carve up the surrounding area…
Sora then yelled, "STOP THIS! THIS PLACE IS ASUKA'S SCHOOL, WE CAN'T JUST RIP IT AWAY WHENEVER WE WANT!" Yumi then said, "SHE TOOK ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF HER OWN SCHOOL'S DESTRUCTION WHEN SHE BROUGHT YOU IN! IN LAYMAN'S TERMS, IT'S…YOUR…FAULT!"
At that moment, Sora blocked the raging storm coming his way, and clashed his Keyblade with her Fan, and with all his strength, he ripped through the ice blades she gathered, blocked her fan-strike, and using his Explosion technique, knocked her away!
Yumi then said, "You dispelled my Ice Pillar Fan, valiant, but futile!"
Sora and Yumi resorted to sword-fighting by the time Asuka and Yomi arrived to see the battle play out…
"Your summoned warrior has been able to dispatch two of our leader's techniques: Black Ice, and Ice Pillar Fan. Such a boy can offer quite the challenge for Yumi." Yozakura said as she appeared next to Asuka and Yomi…with Shiki waving to them next to her.
Yomi then said, "He's worthy in more ways than you think. He has been insecure of his ranking, his title in the realm of the living for some time. Being called 'Master' was uncomfortable since in his mind, he felt he was unworthy of the title…and yet, his actions since his summons have been more deserving of the title than anyone ever believed."
Asuka nodded and said, "Gaining the Keyblade as his world was destroyed, fighting for 3 years against the darkness, and dying in the climax of Xehanort's Keyblade War, at this point, no amount of mockery or even false rumors can explain Sora's TRUE rank. His power was respectfully similar to that of a Ninja Faction Leader, yet his heart is more open to love and friendship than outright suffering and fame. It's faint, but it's there, there is the proof…Sora is a Keyblade Master."
Back in the battle, Sora was shot with Black Ice and swatted away, but Yumi swiftly appeared over Sora and used the Ice Pillar Fan dance to damage Sora heavily, forcing the Keybearer to endure great pain while crashing down to the ground and being assaulted by icicle-blades and ice-bladed fans!
"CURE!"
Yumi was surprised to see a flash of golden and green light surround Sora while bells rang above his Halo, as he used the spell, the injuries Yumi left on him were magically swept away, giving Sora a second wind to spend in the battle. Yumi then said, "You've been blessed with a healing light, but I wonder, can you cast your light when your mouth is frozen shut?!" Sora retorted, "I don't know, are all the Ninjas in this world allergic to Bras?"
Asuka and Yomi then asked, "What's a Bra?", shocking Yozakura and Shiki.
Yumi blushed and said, "...hmph…I wouldn't expect a boy to understand. A Ninja's greatest asset is the ability to misdirect and break the will of their targets. The most well-known way to break a man is the female, whose allure can hide many things…INCLUDING A SUMMON OF THEIR OWN!"
Bringing out her twin fans, Yumi used magic to call from the sky a giant, white spider! As big as a truck and with legs the length of one as well! The giant spider then bowed for Yumi to mount it while she said, "All men bow to beauty, as do women who know their superiors. The Gessen Ninjas know their better, and before you die, my White Widow will make you know yours…"
