Chapter 7: Don´t play with fire.
Hello guys, here I bring this chapter, I know it's a little late, but I made up for it in a long chapter.
Disclaimer: The Hunger Games do not belong to me
The day of the harvest of the 63 Hunger Games had gone without any relevant event, with both 14 and 15 year old children being harvested, appearing scared and reluctant to deal with Effie, although they cannot be blamed, they had just been sent to the death.
"Hello princess, did you miss me? "Haymitch asks mockingly, knowing that Effie was going to be upset by finding him drinking and by the behavior of her tributes, mainly because of that.
"It's 9 in the morning, how is it possible that your liver is still working," Effie answers ironically, as upset as Haymitch assumed she would be.
"Come on, you can't be mad at me, I haven't done anything today" Haymitch says with a mocking smile.
"That's exactly the problem "she murmurs, sighing.
Haymitch makes a face, knowing that she means that she has hardly even shown a few words towards her tributes, he approaches her wanting to provoke her because he had missed irritating her and it has become his favorite pastime, and he had missed being able to do it since last year.
"Look, I'm not that drunk, you shouldn't be so upset," he shrugs while looking at her.
Effie just sighs without having the patience to deal with Haymitch's jokes, this year's children had not even spoken to her, and the oldest of them the boy had muttered murderously when he passed by her.
"I'm not in the mood for your games," she says, crossing next to him.
"At least my games don't include the blood of innocent children," Haymitch quickly replies.
Effie grimaces at this as she watches the train, not sure whether or not there would be microphones and cameras here just like the attic, just as she's not sure whether her apartment can be a safe place or not, since last year when she found out about everything that happens in the capitol has only thought about the idea of wanting to retire, but she knows that she can't do it without ending up dead, so she just has to play the games...
"I know, Haymitch, you remind me every minute," she says in a dark tone of voice while making a tired sigh as he leaves the train cubicle.
Haymitch makes a face, he didn't want to bother her just to bother her, so he follows her towards her room, entering directly. Effie is startled when she sees him and immediately puts her hand on her chest.
"Nervous princess," Haymitch says with a smile.
"You really have so few manners that you can't knock on a room door and wait to see if the person calls or not," Effie snaps.
Haymitch just laughs sarcastically. "I thought we both agreed that I have no manners, darling."
Effie just sighs, avoiding rolling her eyes. "You can learn manners," she says with a fake smile.
Haymitch walks closer to the dresser where Effie is sitting and leans toward her "Yes, what else can you show me? " he mutters with a hoarse voice.
Effie feels herself blushing and is grateful that she has the makeup that she hopes is enough to cover it. "Apparently nothing because you're not interested in learning," she says in a soft voice.
Haymitch raises an eyebrow as an impulse takes him closer to Effie. "Or you just don't teach me well," Haymtich says in the same tone.
Effie feels all of Haymitch's breath on her lips so she brings her gaze to his lips, while she sighs and unconsciously licks his lips.
At this gesture Haymitch hardens his jaw, feeling a slight excitement at wanting to get closer. At that moment the phone in Effie's bedroom rings, making them both startled, almost colliding with each other. Haymitch quickly becomes serious while he leaves Effie's room as if he were on fire.
Effie is surprised and agitated by this approach with Haymitch, however she responds to Seneca's call.
…
"Please watch your table manners," Effie says to the girl, who just rolls her eyes and ignores her.
Effie sighs, Haymitch didn't go out to dinner because he was drinking more to the point of getting drunk, so she is only having dinner with the two boys who ignore her.
"See if you have manners, it's much easier to win sponsors" says Effie
"We are dead thanks to you, murderer, leave us alone," the boy responds, getting up from the table followed by the girl-
Effie sighs as she rubs her temples from the headache, grateful to be alone to be able to make these unladylike gestures,
The rest of the days it takes to get to the capitol, Haymitch ignores her, Effie tries to talk to him and he just avoids her and continues drinking, he is treating her like he was a freshman, which frustrates Effie more.
…
Upon arriving at the capitol, the first thing Haymitch really does is go look for Chaff, he really needs some drinks and get as far away from Effie...from his escort as possible.
"What's up now boy? " Chaff asks curiously seeing the way Haymitch was drinking knowing it was something bad.
"Nothing and don't call me guys, I'm just 5 years younger than you," Haymitch growls.
"What did your escort do now? Chaff asks, knowing that the source of Haymitch's irritation these last few years is Effie.
"Nothing, she's just a fucking capitol escort, she's a murderer and the tributes are right to hate her, she's the enemy," says Haymitch, annoyed.
Chaff raises his eyebrows at this while laughing. "Don't let Cecelia hear you say this," he says while taking his glass. "Although last year you told me that I was a good escort unlike the others," Chaff responds mockingly.
Haymitch rolls his eyes not wanting to explain further, Chaff sighs knowing that he won't be able to get Haymitch to talk about his escort.
"You know, I think my boy has a chance," Chaff says in a soft whisper.
Haymitch just raises both eyebrows. "If that's so, good luck," he says, patting him as he gets up to go to the attic.
As he continues on his way he sees Effie talking to Trigis, the stylish girl from District 4. He raises an eyebrow at this, however, he walks away since the last thing he wants is to be in the same room with her.
…
"Trigis," Effie greets happily, she has known her for a few years, however, seeing that she has descended into District 4 due to Snow's demotion is something that worries everyone.
"Long time Effie, no see "she greets, giving her both kisses on the cheek.
"Same here "she says with a real smile, Trigis's fashion has always inspired Effie a lot, she loves his designs.
"How about in District 12?" Trigis asks.
Effie grimaces at this "not as well as you'd say" and responds with a fake laugh.
Trigis imitates her too "Seneca told me about your conversation with him" she says, taking a sip of his cocktail, Effie gets uncomfortable but continues her conversation.
"It would be a pleasure to have you as an escort in our district," says Tigris, saying goodbye to Effie.
…
Finally, the training scores are given with the lowest scores being a 2 and a 3, Effie grimaces knowing that they are lost if there is any chance and they manage to survive the bloodbath of the cornucopia no capitol is going to want to sponsor tributes with such a low score.
This year's styles are a disaster, it's new and this young woman follows the stupid tradition that the tributes are dressed based on their district, which is why they are like miners full of dust.
All these remaining 3 days Haymitch has been avoiding her like a plague, it's like his first days...
-What's the matter? "Effie asks, annoyed when she manages to see a more or less sober Haymitch and ask him why the radical change when she thought they could get along better and be able to work together
"Nothing that matters to you," Haymitch snaps, annoyed.
Effie frowns when she sees the way he is speaking to her. "I haven't done anything to you, I haven't even fought with you, you're just ignoring me," Effie replies, annoyed.
At this Haymitch just rolls his eyes and swallows his drink. He should have stayed with Chaff in the bar and not gone up to the attic, but it was the last night before his tributes went to their deaths and he didn't want to be in the bar in case he drank. others went overboard with their comments.
"Haymitch..." says Effie as she approaches him. "Last year I thought..."
"You believed what? "Haymitch interrupts her abruptly while she makes a sarcastic smile "That we would be friends or something "he finishes quickly. He has every intention of hurting her so that she gets away from him, she can't have a slip like the one 3 days ago.
"Not exactly" Effie murmurs with a grimace "But we could get along well"
"I know that because of your wigs and the gadgets you use, your brain is burned," he snorts while pointing to his purple wig from that year. "But I didn't think that, for all that love, wake up, you are the capitol, you are an escort, you are the enemy," accuses Haymitch with every intention of hurting her and succeeds sees a flash of pain cross Effie's gaze, however, she quickly puts on her escort mask.
"We will never be friends, I hate you, I hate the Capitol, you have so much blood on your hands," Haymitch murmurs in his ear to prevent the microphones from picking up on their conversation.
She hears Effie inhale as she hears all these words again. "You are too," Effie murmurs quickly.
Haymitch laughs "Yes, darling, thanks to people like you, who harvested me and I had to go to some stupid games and become a murderer" by being so close to her he manages to smell her perfume, smelling like red berries, a sweet aroma like I supposed it would be. the one she would wear, a scent that makes him want to reach out and see if her skin will taste as good as it smells.
Effie feels the tears in her eyes, but she's not going to cry, much less in front of Haymitch. "You could be a better mentor and not act like you don't care about the death of the tributes," she comments with a sad face.
"My conscience is clear" says Haymitch shrugging his shoulders, although he knows that that is not true, and that every year he has two more people dead because of him "I don't need to try to save them like you do to clear my conscience, understand that honey, you are a "Murder and I hate you," Haymitch replies angrily, moving away from her so he can see her eyes, seeing her blue eyes full of tears.
"I hate you Haymitch, I hate working with you," Effie screams.
"Well, get out, darling, you think I care about your life," he adds with a smile. "If you leave next year, I'll have an escort, and maybe she's prettier than you, since you're ugly and you disgust me."
Effie feels enormous anger in her body, she is tired of being treated like this, so with the few defense classes she received in her childhood she tries to push him and hit him in the stomach, however, Haymitch is a winner, to which He responds by holding his leg and pushing Effie to the wall.
"You're seriously trying to hit a victor," Haymitch huffs with annoyance on his face.
Effie tries to punch him to free herself from him, Haymitch is faster and manages to lift and hold both hands above his head.
"You're seriously crazy," Haymitch continues with a frown.
"Let go of me," Effie gasps, feeling uncomfortable with the way she is, however, she does not feel afraid.
"Or what? According to you, you can beat me in a physical battle" says Haymitch mockingly.
"Hit me then," Effie replies.
"I don't hit women unless I have no choice and you're no threat to my darling," Haymitch comments with a sarcastic smile.
Effie just stares at him even in a submissive position, with her hands above her head and with Haymitch pressing her body against the wall, she is not afraid, she knows that Haymitch would not hurt her physically, however, she can't help but feel attracted to him. He and the approach of her body feel warm, and immediately blushes at seeing Haymitch so close to her.
Haymitch manages to see the small blush on her cheeks, and immediately looks at Effie's blue eyes, noticing how her pupil dilates. He looks down at her lips. "This really turns you on, princess," he says, bringing his face even closer to her. "Knowing that I can hurt you at any moment" and to prove his point he presses his body closer to hers.
Haymitch feels Effie's body very close to him, he looks down at the neckline of her dress and watches as her breasts rise and fall rapidly due to Effie's labored breathing. She is excited, she knows it, and he begins to get excited.
"I'm not the only one, it seems," says Effie, pressing her hip against Haymitch's, eliciting a growl from him as he touches her excitement. They are about the same height and are so close that you can feel your breath on your lips.
Haymitch feels a sexual attraction towards Effie, he blames Chaff for this, since from the first moment he started bothering him about fucking Effie, and now he can't stop thinking about it being so close to her, he managed to stop kissing her ago. 3 days and for that same reason he has been avoiding her because if he is alone with her the only thing he can think about is kissing her, he hasn't felt that desire for someone for years...
"Don't play with fire, darling," Haymitch murmurs hoarsely.
"I thought you didn't like playing my games," Effie remembers.
Upon hearing this, Haymitch manages to stop and walk away. "I know you're dying to sleep with you, but I think you have to pay for me to do it," Haymitch says sarcastically, releasing Effie from her hands.
Hearing Haymitch's words, Effie feels a shiver run through her body, he knows she wouldn't do that. "You're definitely an idiot," she says, leaving the attic, she needs to be away from him...
Author's note: Well, each time Haymitch and Effie get closer, they both have already accepted that they feel a sexual attraction for each other and this one is so big that it can be cut with a knife haha, I hope you like it
See you soon.
