I'M ALIVE… Yet.

Waking up, the first thing that Hiccup did was wipe her face with the sheets, warm and cozy sheets, which encouraged her to go back to sleep, but in the meantime, the first sun's rays refrained her from it. Thus, she turned on her back and gaped at the empty hole in her roof, which she had the honor of calling a window.

Through it, she caught a glimpse of orange, pink-like sky, a few white, clouds, wandering around it, and a V-formation of wild Death Nadders, that probably traveled from islands. Inhaling the fresh, lukewarm air, that got into the room from the outside, she moved to her side, beaming at what she witnessed.

Laying on his back, Toothless slept next to her, having one arm on his stomach, and the other trashed next to his side, awkwardly. I could swear that we cuddled to sleep, she recalled, puzzled by the fact that, in contrast to being embraced by him like every other morning, she woke up without the warmth of his body around hers.

Even so, accepting the way of things, she leaned her chin on the arm supported by her pillow, and stared at him, out of habit and simple willingness. The truth was, from time to time, Hiccup couldn't help herself, but wonder, how she was in the position, in which she was, with wonderful friends, and of course, a loving partner.

Often, more than a year ago, Hiccup imagined where she would end up in the future, with whom would she end up, and neither of her guesses was even close to reality. Of course, back then, she didn't even think about the possibility of the existence of someone like her, a half-human half-demon-like creature she considered a dragon, and also, she didn't believe in other fate rather than death by the hand of beloved her people, but it didn't stop her from being fascinated.

The most realistic, the worst scenario, was obviously an arranged marriage, forced upon her as an alliance creation, with someone caliber of Dagur. Fortunately, instead of seeing this ginger-like hair of behatted her man every morning, she was glad those were soft, raven waves, which even at that moment, she curled around her finger, playfully.

Another one was if she would've been allowed to get married by choice, by love, although, she still would have never thought that she would have fallen in love with someone like Toothless. What she was expecting was an intelligent, smart man, by whom she wouldn't have felt weak, whose strength she wouldn't have been afraid of, like Fishlegs, for instance.

For this reason, Toothless was the last person she could've ever anticipated, with the strength and size twice as she was, but even so, he was also the one that had won her heart. Certainly, he did make her feel scared in the past, and he did make her feel vulnerable, fragile, breakable under his touch, but in the difference to the other men that were the reason for her requirements, he had changed for her.

That thoughtful, incredible man, while being stronger than her, became someone that she felt the most protected by, someone that encouraged her to be the best version of herself and someone by whom she felt strong, worthwhile, and useful. To this day, she cannot believe how lucky she is to share a mutual love with him.

These remarks were the reason why she must've crawled underneath the sheets that had covered him and lay on top of his chest, to nestle against him, quietly. Feeling his heartbeat by hers, his large hand which she moved from his stomach to her back, and the warmth of his body, she deemed that she was in the best spot in the world.

Later on, she gazed at his face, and hence, detected the dark bags underneath closed eyes, because of which, she actually felt ashamed of her doings. It seemed that Toothless's insomnia, which appeared because of his nature of being the creature of the night, only increased, resulting in Hiccup's concern.

Consequently, she decided to get off him, carefully, so as to not wake him up and let him take his time sleeping, although before doing so, she leaned toward him and gently kissed his motionless lips, as a sleep-well gesture. All of a sudden, after it, Toothless opened his eyes rapidly, and Hiccup jumped as he lifted his brow at her.

"Good mornin'?" he greeted her with a hoarse voice while lifting his eyebrow at her.

"Good mornin'," she whispered despite that he was awake. "I'm so sorry that I woke ya up."

"Honestly, I would have lied if I said that I was sleepin'," he confessed, yawning. "I was just keepin' my eyes closed, hopin' that I would, and later on, was curious about what will ya do."

"How nice of ya to test me like that," she grumbled, leaning her arms on top of his chest, on which she lay her chin. "Ya know, if ya can't sleep, ya can always wake me up. I'll keep ya the company if ya need one."

"I wouldn't dare," he stated, raising the corner of his mouth. "I'm not this type of person who wakes up another by, for example, climbing on top of them."

"Alright, alright, we get it, I'm the worst," she concluded and looked to the side, frowning.

"Nah, ya are not," he disagreed, stroking her back with his hand, already on the spot. "I'm just teasin', ya know that right?" he inquired and his face lit up when Hiccup nodded. "Besides, if ya are the worst, what does it make me? Is there somethin' worse than the worst?"

"Ya aren't worse than me."

"I am."

"No, ya aren't."

"I do am."

"No, ya-,"

"Hiccup, please stop it," he rasped and rubbed his temple, hissing. "There are plenty of reasons why I am the actual worst, and I'm too exhausted to name all of them."

After his words and glimpsing his uneasiness, concerned Hiccup admitted, "No matter what ye're thinkin' about, I'm certain it's not that bad," laying her cheek against his chest, not letting her gaze off him.

"How can ya be so sure about that?"

"Because I know ya, and I know ya make good decisions," she reasoned, pulling her arm out to him to cup his jaw, and instantly, Toothless melted by the touch. "Don't worry, and go to sleep. I'll leave," she proposed, but as she lifted herself, she smirked. "Before that," she muttered and leaned toward him to kiss him, to which Toothless reacted by inching away, causing Hiccup to tilt her head at him, confused. "Ya don't want to?"

"It's not like that, I'm just-,"

"Ye're tired."

"No, no," he objected, encircling her back to keep her by himself. "The thing is-; I just-,"

"Toothless, it's okay to be tired, after all, ya probably didn't sleep for the entire night," Hiccup assured, smiling at him brightly. "I'll go. We'll have time for that later-,"

In the end, Hiccup didn't finish her sentence, because just as she was about to stand up, Toothless crashed his lips into hers, and initiated a kiss which she returned. After a moment, she grasped his shoulders and sat straight, taking him with herself, so she was able to knot her legs around his middle.

When their kiss was deepening, Hiccup felt an urge for something more, for tasting him, and without any of his permission, she began her meal. Firstly, she bit on his bottom lip, to which he just chuckled, unaware of what was about to happen. Then, her mouth traveled lower, to his jaw which she kissed, next underneath his chin kissing it the same way, until the neck, through the way kissing every met by part of his skin.

There, she brushed her lips gently against it, before squeezing it between her teeth, while Toothless tensed, stabbing his fingers into the back of her shirt. The movement caused him to have mixed feelings, for example, pain, pleasure, amusement reasoned by the tickling spot, et cetera.

Just as the room gained on the heating, and Toothless's silent whimpering surrounded it, the hatch of it opened suddenly and loudly, catching them by surprise, and making them jump. As it turned out, the guilty of that interruption was Astrid who appeared in the opening and widened her eyes, witnessing their position.

"What the fuck are you doing here?!" Toothless boomed, throwing one of his arms, while the other held Hiccup's back. "Are you seriously don't have anything different to do other than to bother us?!"

"Somebody here is in a bad mood, huh?" Astrid acknowledged, crossing her arms on her chest, before starting. "There is a problem about-,"

"For fucking sake, just because I asked for the reason doesn't mean that I care about it!" Toothless growled and Hiccup unknotted her legs off him, although couldn't move away, because of his hand that gripped her shirt, angrily. "Get the fuck out of here!"

"If ya listened to me, ya would know that we have a problem with dragons, incidentally. There are a lot of Nadders, wild and furious Nadders, which we aren't able to calm down, so we need a translator."

"A translator? Really?"

"Astrid, I'll come down in the minute. Give us a minute," Hiccup responded, and after nodding Astrid walked off down the stairs before Hiccup sighed. "Toothless, don't ya think ye're overreactin'? I know that ye're sleep-deprived, but ya can't be so aggressive."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry," he apologized and threw his back on the bed, creasing his forehead. "I hate your father. It's because of him we can't have even a moment for ourselves."

"Believe me that me too," she conceded, grinning at him weakly. "At least we aren't bored, right?" she pointed out, and glimpsing how Toothless gripped her thigh so as to stroke it with his thumb, exhaled. "I have to go. Try to get some sleep, okay? I'll be back as fast as I can."

In response he nodded, while sadness clouded his features, but he brightened once Hiccup loomed closer and kissed his eyelid. Afterward, she lifted herself, dressed, and was about to go downstairs, but stopped herself before doing that.

Swiftly, she gazed at the bed last time, at Toothless who already made himself comfortable on it, and who slowly was falling into a slumber. Is there a way to be luckier? She asked herself, beaming, and disappeared, closing the hatch after herself, quietly.

The edge was one, huge catastrophe, and the fact that it wasn't the twins' fault worried Hiccup, while annoyed the mentioned siblings. Just as she left her house, it wasn't even a second, but she must've already dodged some spikes, because of some two Nadders fighting in the sky.

Immediately, Astrid with Stormfly flew to separate them, and Hiccup just observed their unsuccessful tries, which almost ended with injuries for the dragonness as well as her rider. Eventually, they decided to leave the two dragons, hoping they wouldn't hurt themselves too much, while they focused on keeping the island stable.

Pierced by the spikes roofs, the loudness of dragons' roars, and overall chaos were the least of their concerns, compared to the feisty behavior of each Nadder who for some reason decided to attack everything that moved. They're lucky our hut is hidden in the trees from them, otherwise drained Toothless would've killed the two of them, already, Hiccup attempted to amuse herself, poorly, while bandaging another, innocent Gronckle.

It seemed that everyone on the Edge was somehow connected to this disaster, for example, Snotlout made an effort to spook away a few Nadders that tried to take off his marvelous 'S', with Hookfang sleeping nearby. Fishlegs's flower garden lost in color, leaving only stalks of ripped flowers. The twins' house's roof was completely collapsed by destruction, and Astrid with Stomfly was just troubled because it was dragonness's kind that caused the whole fuss.

Finally, some of them gathered in the arena, more precisely, Hiccup, Astrid, and the twins with their dragon, or rather dragons. As it turned out during the ruination of the twins' home, one of the guilty dragons, a male, broke his wing, and the siblings were able to bring him there, barely, but successfully.

The quoted dragon was of blue tone, with red-green wings, because of which, he looked just like some kind of parrot from the farther part of the world. His jaw was protruding, and hence, it wasn't hard to guess his gender, and at that moment, his amber eyes were glaring furiously at anyone he ricocheted at.

"So, what is he sayin'?" Astrid asked after Hiccup stayed silent while staring at the Nadder for the whole minute.

"Actually, nothin'. I know as much as you do, that he is angry and that her roars, other than that, nothin'," Hiccup replied, frowning and pounding. "These Nadders are wild, they can't speak, so they must have never met any human."

"If so, then maybe they're so savage, because of seein' us for the first time, because of seein' strange buildings?" Astrid suggested, and Hiccup nodded agreeably, humming. "Any idea what to do with them?"

"For sure we have to calm them down, somehow, and just then we can start to wonder what caused everythin'," Hiccup stated, crossing her arms, before gazing around at everyone. "The question is how."

"Hiccup, Hiccup, do the thing!" Barf barked happily, raising his head after stopping licking his wounded wing.

"Yes, the hand thing!" Belch added, hiding in his mouth the fish that was supposed to be for the raged dragon.

Knitting her brows, Hiccup repeated, "The hand thin'?" before lifting one of them.

"The hand thin'!" Tuffnut exclaimed, and Hiccup's face was overtaken by confusion, so he explained. "It's when ya pull out yer hand to train dragons. We saw ya not once doin' it!"

"Ya saw me sometimes doin' it, and now, it some kind of my thin'?"

"Basically," Ruffnut answered, shrugging and leaning against one of the arena's frames.

"Don't worry, Hiccup. It's actually one of the things that makes ya fuckin' awesome! Look!" Tuffnut remarked and pulled his arm to Ruffnut who at first shook her head, but gave up, once he pouted at her beggingly. "See? It looks dope!" he proclaimed when his sister applied her forehead to his hand.

"Actually, it is quite likable," Ruffnut admitted, murmuring pleased.

"It might be for ya because finally, someone touched ya without disgust," Tuffnut sneered, and wailed once his sister kicked his private spot, because of which, he collapsed to the ground, before coughing out, painfully. "Bitch."

Eventually, after hissing at the occurrence, Hiccup traded glances with Astrid, and once Hiccup tilted her head indifferently, Astrid droned. "Ya can't be serious. Do ya really want to do somethin' that the twins recommended? Twins?!"

"Do we have any other ideas?"

"What about dragon nip? It might work."

"On this island aren't any of its fields."

"What about callin' Toothless?" Astrid implied and after Hiccup shook her head groaned. "Anythin', Hiccup! If somethin' happens to ya, I'll be the one to blame!"

"Says who?" Hiccup questioned, moving toward the dragon, ignoring panicked Astrid.

"Says ya-know-exatly-who."

"Hold on, hold on," Hiccup turned around toward her rapidly, as to glance at her amused after her mumbling. "Are ya afraid of him?"

"Ya wish," Astrid snorted, setting her jaw and looking to the side.

"Then ya must be worried about me," Hiccup crooned, smirking, showing her teeth teasingly. "I mean since ye're so concerned with my safety-,"

"I am not. Do whatever ya want," Astrid reacted by lifting her hands and pivoting away from her. "I take no responsibility!"

Subsequently, Hiccup just rolled her eyes at Astrid's offended figure, before focusing on her main target, which was a bird-like dragon. As carefully as possible, she attempted to approach him, without upsetting the creature, and the moment he glimpsed the woman moving toward him, he hissed, warily.

Exhaling confidently, Hiccup pulled her hand toward him, in the same way, that Tuffnut proposed to her, and hence, the silence surrounded the whole place, as she guessed, because every eye was concentrated on her. Talking to him is useless. He won't understand a word anyway, Hiccup understood, and so, she stayed silent, while making the finest steps toward the male to gain his trust.

Fortunately, her tactic seemed to work, because it wasn't a minute, before the Nadder stopped his trashing around, and her hand was just in front of his snout, barely touching it. Just as her fingers were supposed to rest against the dragon's colorful scales, as to create that magical bond, the distant racket, as if metal hit the stone hard, everything was destroyed.

Immediately, he went mad, his eyes turned into slits, the spikes on his head rose, and he roared, straight into Hiccup's shocked face. Without any chance of escape, she covered her head fast with her arm while the rain of sharp spikes was sent in her direction, and one of them stabbed into her forearm, rather painfully.

The adrenaline that gathered inside her body enabled her to ignore the wound, but even so uselessly, because the furious Zippleback took over the situation, by dividing Hiccup and the Nadder, before warding him off with the flammable gas. Afterward, while a few people, whose words Hiccup couldn't register, she stared at the dragon's disappearing figure, before the pain sank in, and she must have stabbed her fingers in her skin around the injury, to reduce the feeling of it, alas ineffectively.
