This day couldn't get any worse for Hiccup Haddock, or at least she hoped so for that but was shortly convinced otherwise when her eyes hurt just by sitting in the clubhouse, where she was supposed to be healed. As it turned out, even the main hideaway from the Nadders got targeted by them, and the reason for the whole chaos on the island holed even its roof.

Each ray that somehow was perfectly directed into her eyes, and which, again somehow, was everywhere where she would have moved, irritated her even more, to the level she started biting on her tongue to not yell in fury. Leaning forward, avoiding one of them, Hiccup stabbed her fingers into her upper arm, just above the wound, to reduce the pain, but also, distract her brain from it.

The injury didn't look the best, the sharp part of the spike was almost penetrated through her entire arm, the blood flew pretty fast, to the point where her fingers were dried with it, and the upper skin of her arm began looking pale. Despite that, Hiccup didn't mind it, or at least attempted to not, by gaping at the pierced roof, and counting how many holes were there.

While her face was gaining new, popping veins, finally, Fishlegs came inside, carrying some bandages, sewing threads, and water, wearing the annoyed expression resembling hers. Fast, he positioned everything on the table next to her, gazed at her, and then analyzed the wound, hissing sympathetically.

"It looks nasty."

"Oh, really?" Hiccup ironized, narrowing her eyes. "I didn't notice, but thank ya."

"The treatment will take a little, so prepare yerself," Fishlegs warned, and the woman rolled her eyes, testy. "Would ya like to drink some water?"

"No, I would like ya to take out of my arm a half-meter-long spike!" Hiccup barked and inhaled, glimpsing Fishlegs surprised, by her behavior, self. "Sorry for yellin', just take it out."

"It's okay, let's just get over with it."

Thereafter, the man enveloped Hiccup's arm with the bandage around the same injury, although the way, by which after pulling out the object she wouldn't bleed out. Hissing, Hiccup gnashed her teeth each time a new material even barely grazed her skin, tensing at the pain triggered by it.

Eventually, when the Fishlegs finished with the securing part, just after he notified Hiccup about his intention, he grasped the sharp object, and jumped, once the clubhouse's door opened rapidly and unexpectedly. Hiccup herself also flinched, although her eyes locked on the spike, concerned that Fishlegs, out of reflex, took it out accidentally, but he didn't, to her relief.

As it turned out, the cause of that possible incident, happened to be no one else, but Toothless, having his hair disarrayed in all directions, his eyes slightly redden, and his chest raising rapidly as he was panting. Taking in the sight of the whole clubhouse, the man firstly glimpsed Fishlegs on whom he barely nodded, and then, gazing at Hiccup, at the red strain covering her arm, he widened his eyes.

"What the hell happened?!" he shouted, hurrying toward them and stopping, just so as to kneel next to Hiccup's knee and gape at her deep injury, frowning noticing the spike. "Dragon did that to you?"

"Toothless, leave it be, please," Hiccup responded, narrowing her eyes when he glanced at her, swiftly. "Look, I'm exhausted, in pain, and annoyed. I am not willing to clean any mess ya'll cause and I mean it," she added, when he rolled his eyes, furrowing his brows.

"Don't you think that there should be some fucking consequences?" he muttered while his eyes burned with rage.

"No, I don't think so. At least not right now," she stated, firmly. "Right now, could we focus on the main reason why we're here? Fishlegs?"

"With pleasure," Fishlegs agreed, smirking at the idea.

Through their trade of sentences, Toothless observed them with his forehead creased and then widened eyes, when the man grasped the spike in Hiccup's arm, not so gently. "Hold on for a moment!" he shouted, gaining the surprised glances from the two. "Maybe let's not be so hasty with it. I mean, won't it hurt her like hell?"

"Ugh, fine!" Fishlegs carped and went somewhere farther, while Hiccup smiled weakly at Toothless, gratefully and shortly, because her gesture was interrupted by the bandage forced into her mouth by no one else, but the blond man, who sneered, "Happy?"

"Very," Toothless growled, but from venting his anger prevented him Hiccup, who grasped his hand and stroked the skin of his palm, on which he reacted with the same. "It'll be all over soon, sunshine," he whispered to her, tensing lightly the hold he had on her. "If you feel the need to, you can squeeze harder-; Holy fuck!"

Bending in half, the man cursed once Fishlegs, without any warning, began his job, and Hiccup with all her strength reinforced her grip, causing Toothless's fingertips to whiten. It was eventually that Fishlegs pulled the whole spike out and Hiccup let go of Toothless's hand, who began spreading his aching fingers, twisting his face in pain.

Whilst Hiccup's medic was enveloping her arm with white fabric, she ignored that, being more concerned about her lover's state, through whose hand flowed blood from the gashes made by her own nails. Feeling guilty, having her brows lowered in shame and gaping at him sympathetically, she spoke but rather indistinctly, due to the obstacle in between her teeth.

"What?" Toothless asked, not understanding the word, and once she repeated the incomprehensible sounds, continued. "Hiccup, I don't understand you. Except for that arm, are you in any other pain? Maybe you need me to bring something? Whatever that is," he proceeded and was interrupted, once Hiccup spit the bandage at him, which bounced from his skin to the ground.

Pressing her lips together, as well as narrowing her eyes, she reiterated, "Could ya take it out, please?", and after receiving from Toothless annoyed glance, shook her head, grinning lightly and sighing. "Also, before askin' that, I said that I'm sorry for bruisin' yer hand."

"Don't bother yourself with it. Those are just small cuts," he responded, getting rid of the red liquid by wiping off his hands against his shirt. "The most important thing is that you're alright."

As he acknowledged that, he brushed his knuckles against Hiccup's cheek, who beamed at the gesture, melting by, even so slight, touch of his hand. Afterward, the two of them gaped at each other, and through time he cupped her cheek, stroking the side of her nose with his thumb, and worried, when Hiccup hissed and grimaced, suddenly.

Realizing the reason, Toothless glared at the other man, drawing his brows together. "You're hurting her, Fishlegs. Loosen the grip, please," he explained, and glimpsing how the bandage was hanging under Hiccup's hand now, hardened his expression. "Come on, not so much," he criticized and set his jaw, when Hiccup flinched, gritting her teeth, trying to take away her arm, ineffectively. "Goddamit, Fishlegs-!"

"Fuckin' sake!" Fishlegs boomed finally, letting go of Hiccup's arm who brought it back to herself, and standing up, rapidly. "Do it yerself then, wiseass!" he ended, bursting toward the entrance door, after coming through which he slammed them, loudly.

Subsequently, both Hiccup and Toothless just stared at the direction in which Fishlegs disappeared, and after a second, shrugging, the man moved to the side, so as to appear before her. Thereafter, he did as Fishlegs suggested, and himself started tying cautiously Hiccup's bandage, who without any objection let him do so and gaped at his actions, curiously.

Eventually, somewhere in the middle of his work, he asked, "Why he's being like that today?" after moments of awkward silence.

"It's a hard day for all of us," Hiccup pointed out, heaved a sigh, and recalled. "He must have taken care of not only me today but also a few dragons, includin' Gronckles and the same Meatlug."

"And?" he inquired, snickering. "That doesn't mean he can just take it out on you."

"And who says that? Weren't ya the one to take it out on Astrid after the Dagur incident?"

Consequent to that, Toothless stopped his work, just to glance at Hiccup, with a look that she translated as that's not the same, and rolling her eyes, she kissed his forehead - just then he continued. While he did, instead of lowering her eyes back to her arm, she kept them as they were, at him, at the black hair that covered his eyes, and after trying to brush them away as well as watching them go back to the same position, giggled.

"Notwithstandin' what's goin' on today, ye're bein' very calm," she remarked at some point, and he just nodded, agreeably. "Why?"

"I'm not sure. I was beyond not being calm in the morning, about Astrid also Nadders - I feel like I used all my anger and have none of it now," he explained, and after the moment of short silence added. "They've collapsed our entire roof."

"Entire roof?!" Hiccup shouted, and once realizing something, took away her arm from him to gain his attention. "Are ya okay?! Ya were by the time upstairs probably, weren't ya?"

"I was, but I'm fine, thanks to your window," he swiftly unrolled, glimpsing the worry transforming Hiccup's face, and rubbed her upper arm, gently. "Don't be scared, we'll fix the roof once that chaos ends, and besides, the most important thing is that I'm alright, right?" he pressed, and after Hiccup relaxed, his expression closed as he gazed at her injured arm. "If only I could say the same about you."

"Don't be scared about me either, okay?" she insisted, turning her head to the side to face him better. "Ya are the one that takes care of me, then why should ya?"

Sighing, Toothless grinned at her, kissed her cheek, and muttered, "You're right, as always anyway," before proceeding with his work with her arm.

Through that, Hiccup observed how he halved the white material, and asked, mockingly, "Are these Nadders still alive?"

"Are you sure you want to know the answer?" he teased and chuckled, glimpsing how fear crossed Hiccup's face. "They are alive, however, they know I won't be so forgiving next time," he summed up, and once taking his arms away from her one declared, "Done."

"Oh, really?" she inquired, and glimpsing that her arm was perfectly enveloped by the bandage, a little disappointed that she couldn't point anything out to him, she praised. "Good job, love. Ye're gettin' only better at it."

"Practice makes perfect as they say, and with such a reckless human like you I had bunches of them," he nagged, and as Hiccup turned her head away from him, offended, he grasped her chin with his two fingers, and forced her to look at him. "Come on, sunshine, don't be like that. You know that I'm only joking."

"Yer jokes are stupid."

"Maybe, but we both know if it wasn't for them, you would have never fallen in love with me."

At that moment, Hiccup just shook her head, grinning uncontrollably, and leaned forward towards him, to the point their faces were just mere inches from one another. Noticing it as his chance, Toothless turned his head to the side and moved it forward, although alas, once their lips were supposed to connect in the kiss, they were interrupted by the newcomer.

Glancing backward to glimpse them, Toothless's veins almost burst out, detecting her blond hair. "I hate you, Astrid," he murmured, before barking, "and I don't mean that I dislike you - I seriously, honestly hate you."

"Did ya finish?" Astrid questioned, rolling her eyes, before focusing them on Hiccup just over Toothless's head. "We found the source."

"Ya did?!" Hiccup exclaimed and hurried to Astrid, while Toothless behind her back held his nose, defeated. "Did ya find out anythin'?"

"Well, from what we witnessed, rather every single Nadder comes from that one island to the north, and what's more interestin' is that on the Edge aren't even all of them," Astrid informed, crossing her arms, and at the same time, gesturing with her free hand. "They have spread across the whole West archipelago, but each of them is from this island, so whatever the issue is, it came from there."

"Good to know," Hiccup mumbled, more than to herself than the others, and glanced behind herself, not shocked to see Toothless already over her shoulder. "Why would the Nadders leave their own home?"

"There might be a lot of reasons," he began, relying his hand on Hiccup's farther shoulder. "The argument in the flock, the natural disasters on the island, and unnatural ones, maybe it was the alpha's order, or they were just expelled, who knows?"

"Whatever the reason, we must settle it," Heather, who just entered inside, concluded, receiving everyone's attention. "Unless, of course, you would like for the Edge to collapse-,"

"No, we don't," Hiccup interrupted immediately, and inhaled, before declaring. "If so, we'd better get ready. Gather everyone, we'll set off as fast as possible."

"Hold on for a moment. Everyone?" Toothless quiered, before grasping Hiccup's hand and lifting it, so at everyone's eye level appeared her bandaged arm. "You just got it. Do you really think traveling with such an injury is a good idea?"

After his words, the two of them just stared at each other - Toothless with the half-worried, half-stressed look and Hiccup with the stubborn, but at the same time, exhausted one. In the end, Hiccup was first to glance away, and with that, she exhaled rather loudly, defeated, before lifting her head to the two women and agreeing.

"He's right, I shouldn't go."

"Okay, nobody says you have to," Heather concurred, nodding her head while brushing, with two fingers, her eyebrows. "You can stay here, recover, and we'll handle everything."

"No, I won't leave her here alone," Toothless disagreed, and after gaining Hiccup's shocked glance, he grasped her shoulders and leaned forward, so as to meet her face-to-face. "Look, I won't leave you all alone, with these Nadders over our heads. Perhaps they'll hurt you even more, I won't forgive myself if that happens. I'll stay, they'll cope without us, right?" he summed up, and then at the realization, frowned, glancing to the side at open-mouthed Heather. "Don't you dare say that."

"Well, your presence is likely mandatory. You do know the most about dragons - you'll know what to do there."

"I'll stay with Hiccup," Astrid claimed, and after quite a long starring contest with Toothless added. "She'll be alright, I promise."

Grounding his jaw, Toothless creased his forehead, and finally, glancing at Hiccup, glimpsing how she pointed at the rest with her head, encouraging, groaned, "Fine," to which the woman responded by kissing his chin, grateful.

"Alright, let's get the rest then, shall we?" Heather proposed, and pivoted, just so as to move in the direction of the clubhouse's entrance.

Before following her, Toothless turned his head to Hiccup, stared at her eyes, and seeing her smile exhaled. "Be careful, okay?" he asked and kissed her temple.

"Of course, you too," she replied and hugged him, tightly, before adding, "and be back soon."

In answer, the man stepped back and nodded, and once the contact of their bodies broke, glancing the last time at beloved him woman, he smiled, before hurrying after Heather and disappearing behind the wooden surface of a large, vertically-opening, door. As the moment passed, and Hiccup's eyes were still focused on them, out of a sudden Astrid appeared just by her side, encircled her arm around Hiccup's middle, receiving an annoyed glance from her, and began.

"So, since the Mister Grump is missing now, what would you like to do?"
