This is the prologue for the short story The Messenger, a work that will focus on a hypothetical plotline exploring Max's time travel capabilities and limitations. Both canon and non-canon elements will be utilized throughout the story, as well as a focus on other primary and secondary characters.
Unlike previous works, this story will follow a different uploading format. I make a point to clarify how I will upload these chapters beforehand so that there is no confusion/misunderstanding. This story will have a variable upload schedule, meaning that there is no set date nor time interval for when chapters will be published. Please do not expect a regular upload schedule unless I give a later announcement specifically addressing such.
This story closely follows the canon plotline, however it does so from different perspectives and chronological events to distinguish itself as a separate timeline. Further exposition about this alternate timeline can be explained by leaving a review, I am more than happy to answer any questions about this story and its setting.
Character dynamics are not as clearly defined for this story. For the sake of clarification, below is a list of implied relationships featured in this story:
- Implied Max Caulfield/Chloe Price
- Implied Kate Marsh/Warren Graham
- Implied Rachel Amber/Chloe Price
- Implied Rachel Amber/Frank Bowers
In my previous works, I had intentionally set the dynamics between certain characters to help keep with the plotline, however, this is not as necessary for this story. It is left up to you, the reader, as to whether there is something more to an implied relationship between certain characters or otherwise.
This story will have canonically mature themes such as violence, descriptions of blood and gore, as well as descriptions of murder, kidnapping, and torture. If you, as the reader, feel that these elements are too much to handle, understand that you are not obligated to read this story, and can back out at any time. I make this warning to express that I will not take responsibility for your wellbeing, as it is not my place to do so. Please take care of your mental wellbeing and read with diligence.
I am also interested in hearing what others think about my plot ideas and rationale, so if there's something that catches interest, feel free to give me feedback about it. Any reviews, whether praise or a genuine critique, are always welcome. It is important to note, I make a promise to myself to finish my works regardless of circumstances, so if you like the story but are not inclined to ask whether it might fall prey to hiatus, then do not worry. Hopefully, this work might influence other writers to explore new ideas concerning Max's time travel abilities and make interesting stories to share. Please take this prologue into consideration, and enjoy this story. - MB
