Koops and the Big Glitz Pit Match
(A/N: This story is dedicated to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Happy 19th birthday!)
On a perfect afternoon at the Glitz Pit in Glitzville, Koops is training in his locker room as he is preparing for a special battle. He smiled to himself and said, "I can't believe that today is the big day. I'm going to compete by myself in a very special match and the fans are looking forward to this amazing battle! Well, let's do this!"
With that, Koops came out of the room and is making his way to the arena as he is all set and ready for battle.
At the stadium, everyone is gearing up for the battle as Lakitu came in with a smile. He said, "Good afternoon, fight fans! Today marks a very special occasion for us here at the Glitz Pit because we're now at our... 1,000TH MATCH!"
And on his cue, the arena cheered with excitement as the jumbotron shows this amazing achievement.
"That's right, everyone! For our special 1,000th match, we have two veterans going head-to-head to celebrate the 19th anniversary of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! So, shall we meet them?"
The stadium agreed with him as they are cheering with excitement as Lakitu pointed to the blue door. He said, "All right, then! In the blue corner is the very first champion of this beloved stadium. He is the brother of Jolene and is one of the best fighters in the world. Ladies and gentlemen, here he is! The Original Glitz Pit Champion... PRINCE MUSH!"
Just then, the blue doors open up and Prince Mush came in to the cheers of the crowd as he made his way to the center of the arena.
Then Lakitu pointed to the red doors and said, "And in the red corner is a Koopa from Petalburg. He is one of Mario's partners in a quest to find the Crystal Stars and his shell can defeat any foe that comes in his way. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Shy Koopa Warrior... KOOPS!"
Just then, the red doors open up as Koops is spinning his way center stage in his shell before coming out to the cheers of the crowd.
Lakitu came to them with a microphone and said, "Now is there anything you would like say before we begin this special showdown?"
Prince Mush took it nicely from him and said, "I just want to say that it has been 19 years since The Thousand-Year Door came out and I'm so happy to be part of this amazing celebration. So, I just want to say thank you for your amazing support during these nineteen years and for that, I am truly grateful. Well, that's it for me. Koops, would you like to say anything?"
"Sure," Koops replied with a smile as Prince Mush passed the mic to him, "First of all, I would like to thank my dad Koopley and my girlfriend Koopie Koo for supporting me, my friend Mario for giving me the courage to become a strong Koopa, everyone in Petalburg, Nintendo, Intelligent Systems, and my special thanks goes to you, the fans. You've been with us for so long and I can't wait for the Switch remake next year. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for these nineteen years and I hope you'll enjoy today's showdown! Thank you, everyone!"
And with that, the crowd cheered very loudly as Koops took a huge bow before passing the mic to Lakitu. Then Mush came to him and said, "That was a great dedication, Koops."
"Thanks, Mush," Koops replied, "You know, I think it's time for us to have a great battle to honor 19 years of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door so, may the best fighter win?"
"May the best fighter win!"
With that, Koops and Prince Mush shook hands as Lakitu floated on over to the gong. Then he said, "Well, it looks like Koops and Prince Mush are shaking hands to show good sportsmanship and with that, I think it is officially time to start the match! Fighters, take your positions and get ready to fight at the sound of the gong!"
Koops and Prince Mush smiled as they took their positions. Then Lakitu said, "Fighters, are you ready?"
"Ready," Koops and Prince Mush replied with a thumbs up.
Then Lakitu turned to the audience and said, "Glitz Pit, are you ready?"
The entire arena is cheering with excitement as they are ready.
"All right, then! For the 1,000th time, let's get ready to..."
The entire stadium grew silent as Koops and Prince Mush looked at each other while assuming their fighting stances. It all comes down to one single word.
After ten seconds of waiting, the moment has finally arrived. Lakitu looked at the fighters, took a deep breath and with a perfect swing...
It is time.
"BRAAAAWL!"
GONG!
And right on cue, Koops and Mush charged into battle as the gong crashed to signify the start of the showdown.
Koops starts the match by spinning in his shell and launching himself at Prince Mush to deal some damage while Mush used his fists to attack Koops. Lakitu saw it all and said, "And the 1,000th battle is now underway as Koops and Mush used their attacks to damage each other. Now that's what I call a special showdown!"
And so, Koops is enjoying his afternoon as he is fighting in a very special showdown against Prince Mush.
