It was a rather chilly and foggy evening in Storybrooke; autumn had just begun.
Fallen leaves covered the ground and the corners of the streets. Emma appeared from within the wood, near the town's border.
The mud was thick around her boots, Jeez! Exclaimed Emma while removing bits of frosty leaves from her jacket. Her Bug was parked across the asphalted street, Shit. She cursed under her breath while having to get in her precious car with her boots still covered with spots of mud.I must hurry up if I want to talk to Madame Mayor... She pronounced the title in a mocking tone, I surely don't want to get scolded for interrupting her precious supper! She should stop talking so much to herself and out loud, she thought, finally managing to start the engine and taking off to 108 Mifflin Street.
The doorbell of the mansion rang and the perfectly dressed and polished Mayor opened the heavy, white front door. Sheriff Swan! She said a bit surprised, What do I own the pleasure of receiving a visit from you, so late in the evening?
The Mayor made a face, obviously annoyed by the interruption. Hi, Regina. I just got here from Graham's house; he told me to let you know that everything is okay, for now, no further intrusions were recorded. There was a moment of silence between the two women, the Mayor blinking to the Sheriff unperturbed. And you couldn't wait till 7, tomorrow morning to tell me about this during our set meeting, because...? Asked the Mayor folding her arms and leveling the blonde with her eyes. Yeah...about that... Emma scratched the back of her head shrugging her shoulders. I was hoping to sleep in and skip that part, for tomorrow. Confessed the Sheriff, looking very much guilty this time. Regina looked her up and down, at least she had the decency of looking ashamed, she thought; but before she could retort Henry, her son, popped out beside her. Emma Swan!
The Little boy squealed with joy. Hey kid! Greeted Emma, looking down at that little mess of brown hair. The brunette, in a grey refined dress and with her hair always perfectly combed, looked back and forth to the interaction between the two, without missing a single word and not too pleased by what she was witnessing or so it seemed by the look on her face.
It is Miss Swan, darling. The mother corrected him then. Oh, it's okay Regina. You can call me however you like kid. Replied Emma winking at Henry You're staying for dinner, right!? exclaimed him, pointing a pair of brown pleading eyes at Emma, who reacted with a weak smile, already knowing what was coming next. Henry Daniel Mills. let out the Mayor, baffled by her son's audacity, turning full body toward him. He was standing next to her, his head barely reaching her chest and his face displaying a much contrite expression.
Don't be so pressing. I'm sure that Miss Swan has other plans for tonight. Regina gave a meaningful glance to the blonde but the woman didn't quite catch it. Actually my plan involved eating a toast and some chips while watching a horror movie on the couch so... Emma left the phrase hanging in the air. I love horror movies! Chirped Henry, jumping up and down. Regina gave him a scolding glance Sorry, mom. Whispered him briefly, looking down but a little smile instantly formed on his lips afterward. Alright, I feel like I must save you from this pitiful excuse for a dinner and invite you to stay. Stated the Mayor and then just stepped aside to let the Sheriff in, but before Emma could enter the mansion Regina stopped her with a hand on her chest and leaning in, looking back to ensure that Henry was far from earshot. But at two conditions... She warned her whispering. Emma shook her head positively, green eyes wide open and fixed on Regina's lips. First of all, no horror movie night... The Mayor was very serious, while Emma and Henry pouted at the same time. Secondly, I want to see you sitting at that meeting table, tomorrow morning, at seven o'clock sharp. Have I made myself clear, Miss Swan? The Sheriff swallowed hard, shifting her gaze to brown orbs Yes, Madame Mayor.
The hard wooden front door closed behind her, a satisfied smile on the Mayor's lips.
