Chapter 01: A stranger in a strange land
Disclaimer: neither Dark Souls or high School DXD belongs to me.
Wake up, my child, hope is here
With the vengeance, we have no time to bleed
My only world filled with fear
I never saw the sower of the seed
The first thing I noted when I opened my eyes was that I wasn't inside the Kiln of The First Flame. But in the middle of a Clearing which was weird on its own but after all the crazy things that happened to me since I left the Undead Asylum, but at least there weren't any hollows or demons close by which was a good thing. After all I didn't know what kind of dangers were nearby.
So I dusted myself off and took my weapon and shield from the ground and went my way to find my way towards whatever my feet took me. After all, I had all the time of the world at my disposal… This, ironically, was the only good thing of my condition.
I continued to walk through the forest making sure that nothing was trying to lay an ambush on me (which would end badly… For them obviously, but I wasn't in the mood for spilling blood right now. I already had done that more than enough in Lordran during my accursed quest to fulfill that prophecy ) I couldn't help but snarl at the mere memory of the so-called prophecy that Gwyn and the other gods made to tried to solve the mess that the Lord of Sunlight caused when he tried to control the cycle of the world by extending his Age of Fire and all the pain and suffering that came from that.
So I did the most rational and mature thing to do; I punched a nearby tree obliterating it. It didn't made the anger go away but it calmed it somehow. Which was good enough for me. But I stopped my musings when I heard the distinct sounds of someone running through the forest and the footsteps of people chasing after them so I hide myself under the shadows of the trees when I saw her.
She was a petite lady with pale skin and long silver hair and piercing purple eyes dressed in a white dress. She may have look breathtaking to anyone else but to me she was a potential foe because I could sense the diluted traces of that characteristic Chaotic energy that the Demons born from the Witch little oopsie. The same with her little pursuers now that I turn my attention towards them, but there was something strange about them.
They didn't look and acted like the monstrous spawns borne from the folly of the witch, if anything their chaotic essence felt more diluted. But nevertheless it wasn't my problem, so I was ready to leave this potential mess behind me, because I knew a headache when I saw one.
"Why not help one another in this lonely journey" The echo of the words of my greatest friend stopped me in my tracks. Yes the context wasn't the same but the feeling and intention was the same. "Gwyn Damnit Solaire" I muttered to myself as I went to involve myself into some dangerous business like an idiot.
Where is the world we had?
Who can ever save you and your little lives?
A child guides a child-guided child
A child is never guilty, but you should not run free
So with my best dickish smirk I made myself known to the dumbasses present… Maybe killing them may help me vent my anger. "Well, well what do we have here? A bunch of fools harassing a fair lady. Oh my what a sad sight to see but far too common on this day and age don't you think?" I commented while looking at the idiots present, which didn't look too happy with my words. I wonder why...
"You will pay for those words you worthless human!" Roared one of the possible demons as he tried to attack me with his sword but unfortunately for him he was too slow because once he was on the effective range of my weapon it was over for him. As I swung my Ushigatana and cut his head off with a clear swing. "That's it? I was expecting something more challenging coming from the children of the flame of chaos" I idly commented as the soul of the demon I killed entered my body joining strengthening me in the process.
"So, who is next?" I asked while swiping my sword off the blood. Bored out of my mind, and totally disappointed when I saw them taken a step back from me.
"Well I suppose it's my turn now" with those words I went to the offensive by bisecting the nearest demon to then proceed to block the the Attack of another demon with my shield and opening a Canal from his gut to his neck killing him instantly.
The last demon was shaking while having his back against a tree. I couldn't help but scoff at the sight. Better die with dignity instead of a coward, more so if you went around harassing people. "Come on, rise your weapon and face me like a man, or will you rather die like a craven?" I said to the demon but before neither him or me could do anything a blast of arcane energy hit the demon killing it instantly.
I turned my attention towards the source of it and was the same lady they were harassing "Thanks for the help sir!" She said to me with a bright smile that couldn't be more fake to my eyes. But I disregard that for now because she wasn't being hostile to me right now and I couldn't feel any ill intentions from her.
"You're welcome, but something tells me that you didn't need my help to deal with them" I commented to which she just continued to smile at me. "So who are you and why those strange demons from Izalith were after you?" I asked her seriously because I may have the time to waste playing games with her.
At my words she furrowed her eyebrows in perplexion which made me dread what she would say. "Demons from Izalith? Of what are you talking about? Those were devils, what is Izalith and how could you consume their souls after killing them?" She asked me in rapid succession with a spark on her eyes that reminded me too much of big hat Logan. Which was troubling for multiple reasons. Besides her incessant yapping was getting on my nerves so I did the one thing that would make her shut up.
SMACK!!!
"Ouch!" said her massaging where I smacked her in the head with a pout.
"Calm yourself, and in order: the things that looked like winged humans but reek of the essence of the flame of chaos, Izalith or Lost Izalith is from where the Demons came from after the Witch decided to play around with her Lord Soul, and how I did consume their souls, it's because I'm an undead dumbass everyone knows that, after all the Dark Sign devours the Souls and humanity of anyone that I kill" I replied matter of factly while looking at her like the moron she was because who didn't know about the undead curse at this day an age? Unless... No that's imposible...
"You don't look and feel like any ghost, Draughr, vampire or any other class of undead that I have studied. Are you sure that you're an undead and not the victim of a wasting curse?" Said her with analytical look on her face. I just rolled my eyes, after all far greater wizards and wisemen did that across the centuries and didn't found a solution. Besides the only possible solution was linking the fire and that obviously didn't work because I could still feel the Dark Sign being active in my body.
"Forget about it. This is the result of the Lord Of Sunlight messing with the natural order of the world, besides I am already used to it at this point" I said to her which only made her confusion grow.
"Who is this Lord Of Sunlight you're talking about. Some God or something?" She asked me, and my fears were confirmed. Yes, indeed I wasn't in Lordran or any of the neighboring Kingdoms anymore.
"You really don't have any idea of what I am talking about am I right?" I asked her reteorically.
"None at all!" She answered me with a smile "By the way my name is Merlin a wandering witch and yours?
"Mikael, just a simple wanderer looking for either a cure for my condition or a place to call home" I introduced myself with small smirk too. "By the way seeing that I somehow ended up here in this foreign land without any bearings could you please tell me where am I please?" I asked her.
"You're in Britannia my dear wanderer, and while my homeland may have some little problems right now I think you can find what you're looking for very soon. But for now I recommend that we find some inn to rest and eat because I don't know about you but I am starving besides, who knows what kind of fun activities we could do together to pass the night" She replied with the same smile and a twinkle in her eyes I just raised an eyebrow at her words because something told me that she knew more than what was letting on, but I decided to don't press the issue. I was too tired both physically and mentally from my situation past and present than the idea of a warm bed and food that wasn't spoiled, poisoned or both was music for my ears. Besides it's not like I couldn't kill her eventually if she decided to double-cross me.
It wouldn't be the first or last time that it happened to me.
But that would be for the future. For now I would just follow this fine lady to the nearest inn rest and relax. Later on I will deal with everything else.
It's time for everyone
To think what we have done
Open your eyes and see, it's not a dream
You aim for a common goal
You are one with your foe
If only we could wake up soon and scream
Author Notes: well this is my first Dark Souls story. So what do you think about it? Good, meh or trash? For those wondering the chosen undead is wearing the wanderer set (I like that set of light armor because it does looks cool) and the grass shield. This would be an harem (because it's DXD) but it will be more of a slow burn harem filled with nothing but Sad Girls that would make the fish from Phase Connect go on hiring sprint to get them in his insane asylum.
PS: for those interested the lyrics are from the song Abandoned, Pleased, Brainwashed, Exploited of Sonata Artica. Check it out is a banger and fits very well with Dark Souls in my opinion.
