Kim smiled softly to herself when she walked into the townhouse she shared with Jay and heard quiet laughter from the kitchen. She walked through the house as quietly as she could, not wanting to let Jay or Zoey know that she was there. She only stopped to kneel and pet their cat, Peaches when she ran up to greet her.

When Kim got to the kitchen, she smiled again and leaned against the doorframe as she watched the two brunettes in front of her.

"How many chocolate chips can we add, Uncle Jay?" Zoey asked, holding up the bag of chocolate chips.

"Not that many, your aunt isn't the biggest chocolate chip fanatic," Jay said, taking the bag and dumping in how many he thought she would tolerate.

"Aww, babe you know me so well," Kim spoke softly, letting her presence be known.

"Aunt Kim!" Zoey exclaimed, rushing over to hug her.

"Hi, Zoe! Did you have a good day with Jay?" Kim asked, smiling when Zoey nodded happily. "After we finally left the 21st district, we got some burgers for lunch! Then, I had the idea that we should make cookies for tonight, so that's what we've been doing since." Zoey explained.

"Cookies will soften the blow," Jay said making his way over to them. Kim kissed Zoey's head before sliding into Jay's arms.

"You know we're about to tell the people we work alongside almost every day that we've been together for seven years and married for three, and on top of that we're having a baby, right? Something tells me that the cookies aren't going to do a whole lot." Kim chuckled softly at the exasperated and nearly identical looks Jay and Zoey gave her.

"Okay, then they'll be a comfort food when this goes wrong." Jay retorted, a hint of sarcasm in his voice as he leaned down to kiss the top of her head. Kim made a face when the baby inside of her started wiggling around at the sound of her father's voice.

"You know, it's amazing that I'm only just now starting to show." Kim was just over 16 weeks pregnant and had only recently begun being able to feel their baby girl moving inside her. It was usually when she heard someone else's voice.

"I think it's amazing that you managed to break your foot and be put on desk duty for that two months ago," Jay said, there was a hint of amusement in his voice. He thought that the timing of Kim's injury was hilarious.

"How'd you break your foot again, Aunt Kim?" Zoey asked, and Kim rolled her eyes.

"I tripped over the cat. It was dark and she was lying in the middle of the hallway." Kim explained for the hundredth time. She rolled her eyes again when Jay and Zoey started laughing.

"Why don't you two just finish the cookies? I'm gonna go hop in the shower." She gave Jay and Zoey each one more kiss before heading upstairs.

When Kim stepped out of the bathroom after her shower, she was pleased to find Jay sitting on their bed waiting for her. He looked up from his phone when he heard the door open, and his eyes lit up the second he saw her.

"Zoey went to take a shower and get ready," Jay said, resting his hands on Kim's waist when she sat down on his lap. One of his hands subconsciously made its way to her stomach and his smile grew when he could feel small kicks against his palm.

"I know telling everyone is a good thing. It means that we're finally starting our family, but I can't help but be sad that this isn't going to be just between us anymore." Kim whispered as she tucked her head into the crook of Jay's neck and he carefully wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him.

"I know, but I do love the idea of being able to hold your hand or kiss you when we're all out together," Jay whispered back and he could feel Kim's smile against his neck.

It was quiet for a few minutes before Kim spoke up again, "Do you think we could keep her gender to ourselves?"

"I think so." Jay hummed softly, all he cared about was that Kim felt comfortable and happy with all the sudden change. Everything was changing and it was doing so very quickly. Not only were they having a baby, which they were over the moon about, they were telling their coworkers about their relationship. That they've kept secret for the last seven years.

It's not like they'd planned to keep it a secret for this long, it was only supposed to stay that way for the first few months, while they tried to navigate the newly formed relationship. As time passed keeping it a secret had become a habit, and habits were hard to break. They also definitely didn't plan on getting married in secret either, but after Kim and Hailey had been kidnapped, they decided that they didn't want to wait. So with Trudy, Will, Nicole, and Zoey by their sides, they'd gone to the courthouse and gotten married.

They didn't regret a thing.

Jay gently kissed the top of Kim's head after a few moments.

"We need to finish getting ready." He whispered and all he got in return was a quiet grumble of disagreement.

So, he stayed where he was and continued to hold Kim close to him. Because at the end of the day, they were still going to tell everyone about the last seven years, but in this moment? In this moment Jay was holding his wife and unborn daughter in his arms and nothing else mattered.
