That Night, Wayne Manor, Gotham City…
In the kitchen of Wayne Manor, Bruce serves his young friends a big meal from Pizza, to hamburgers, to Chinese food all laid out elegantly as Alfred would have done it. Bruce was standing there looking at the food in a black t-shirt and black sweats. Bruce also wore white slip on flip flops.
Kara wore green-t shirt and green sweats. Barry wore black shirt with knee length black shorts with a mechanical brace around his broken left leg design to hold it in place while it healed. Barry also had finger splints to hold his broken fingers in place. The only thing that wont fully heal was the blind right eye and the burn scars on the right side of his face.
They ate in silence with the news playing in the background showing images of the Black Zero Event with Lois Lane giving her report as the scenes cut to Batman and soldiers pulling the injured soldiers from the wreckage as well as scenes of Supergirl ripping open tanks to get the soldiers out and another of her flying them down to the tirage as well as using her heat vision to stop bleeding and cauterize wounds.
Lois Lane reported that Zod and his Kryptonains had come to terraform the Earth making it into a New Krypton which would have resulted in the genocide of the human race. Lois Lane also reported that thanks to the efforts of Supergirl, Batman, and The Flash, whom she deemed The Justice League at the insistence of Supergirl, the horrific tragedy was prevented.
Lois Lane also reported on the staggering loss of life both in the desert battle and when she que it cut to Perry White, a cameraman walking through the ruined streets, collapse buildings, and the scores of dead bodies littered the streets with emergency services and relief services working in 12 hour rotating shifts to clean up, save survivors, gather and identify the dead.
It'll be a long grieving process as the family and friends of the dead are notified, the clean-up crews clean up to make way for the construction teams to come in and rebuild. There was also the issue of the government, the military, and interested parties like Lex Luther and Maxwell Lord who wanted to get a crack at studying Kryptonian technology.
There was also the issue that some of the world blamed this tragedy on Supergirl and her being her is the reason Zod came while others argued if not for Supergirl we wouldn't have a tomorrow. Since she gave humans a tomorrow, others took to calling her the Girl of Tomorrow.
Bruce Wayne knew he would have to use Wayne Construction to help rebuild Metropolis. Bruce also knew he would need to insert himself with the likes of Lex Luthur, Maxwell Lord, and in recent years a man trying to buy Wayne Enterprises Derek Powers. Bruce wanted to prevent men like this from getting their hands on Kryptonian technology to make sure it's not used for evil purposes which meant he could no longer be the reclusive billionaire. No, Bruce Wayne will have to make a return as the CEO of Wayne Enterprises.
With knowledge of Kal-El's death and the conflict with Zod resolved, Kara needed to figure out what she was going to do with her life and her future. The only place she could remotely call home was Wayne Manor and the only friends she had were Bruce, Barry, and the Allen Family. She knew Bruce would help her and so would Barry. Then there was her role as being this world's Supergirl. There was alot for Kara to process and think about.
As for Barry he was in alot of physical pain, he was exhausted, but overall he was happy. His world was alive, his parents alive, Bruce was alive, and most of all so was Kara. Barry mourned for the lives lost. He even felt bad but in the grand scheme of everything, better a few thousand people then billions of lives lost. Bruce turned off the T.V. with Kara and Barry looking up at him.
"I have been thinking, if it's alright with you Kara I'd like for you to stay with me for a month or two while you acclimatize to everyday life here on this planet." Bruce suggested.
"What do you mean?" Kara gave him a look.
"Your time on Earth has been spent in a cage. You don't know how our world works and what everyday life is like. How could you? You never got a chance to grow up and understand the world. So I want to teach you those things." Bruce suggested.
"Like homeschooling?" Barry suggested. Bruce nods.
"On top of that we need to train." Bruce suggested.
"Train? I'm the strongest person on the planet." Kara said annoyed.
"You don't have full control of your abilities, your body is under nourished and underdeveloped compared to the Kryptonian soldiers we fought. The government now has Kryptonian prisoners if one or all of them manage to escape-"
"I understand." Kara said, cutting him off.
"I just want you to be at your best and strongest so no one can ever hurt or lock you up again." Bruce said with sincerity in his voice.
"Ok." Kara said looking over at Bruce fondly.
"I'll generate identity papers for you, bank account with money, and a background to help you get a job with-"
"Russian national from Siberia, here on a work visa as a working fashion model for Wayne Enterprise. That's the story we told the Allen Family. I want to stay true to that." Kara told him.
"I can work with that." Bruce told her.
"Now we need a name for you. We can't call you Kara Zor-El, Zod called you that and the Military can trace to any life you build outside of being Kara Zor-El or Supergirl." Bruce suggested.
"Would Kara Danvers work?" Kara suggested.
"I'll make it work." Bruce told her.
"Thank you." Kara told him.
"I also will be very busy at Wayne Enterprise, on top of being Wayne Enterprise's fashion model. I want you to be my assistant so we can work together to make sure your people's technology doesn't fall into the wrong hands." Bruce asked.
"Whatever you need me to do." Kara told Bruce.
The rest of the dinner went along smoothly Bruce was astonished Barry and Kara was able to put everything away. Those two truly love to eat and Bruce was just happy to have people who needed him again.
After Kara and Bruce put away the food, cleaned the kitchen they all headed up the stairs to their rooms exhausted from the day and wanting to get some rest to embrace the brave new world. Bruce slept peacefully, Kara suffered knightmares of death, the fear of losing Barry and Bruce, torture and guilt of not being able to save everyone.
Barry tossed and turned in his sleep having nightmares about the timeline, worlds in the space time continuum destroying one another and a voice murmuring about how he is not the real Barry Allen, how he shouldn't exist let alone be a speedster. They murmured other things in the darkness as visions of a monstrous creature fighting a bloody Supergirl. There was a loud voice in the background.
"You have changed nothing Flash, only delayed the inevitable. Whether the Humans or the Kryptonains inherit the future Doomsday is still coming to the Earth!" multiple voices screamed with the images of burning cities and endless fields of the dead along with the Kryptonian symbol for Doom written in blood.
Barry snapped awake covered in sweat. Barry looked around before super speeding to the Batcave. Kara is stirred awake hearing Barry's lighting outside her door. Kara yawns walking into the Batcave looking around to see Barry by the Bat computer working on his suit. Kara walks up the steps to see Barry working on his flash suit that was overlaid with the kryptonian armor.
"What are you doing?" Kara asked as she approached,
"Zod, damaged my suit in our fight. So I need to make repairs and adjustments." Barry answered her while he tinkered with the kryptonian armor.
"Badass, very god-like." Kara pointed out walking around checking out the gray kryptonian armor over laying the makeshift blue flash suit. Barry limps around wearing unlaced black combat boots, cargo pants, a black shirt and his thin black jacket.
"Dress for the job you want and I am the fastest man alive, which makes me the God of Speed, but with your abilities you're a god in your own right." Barry said in a dark voice pointing at her. This made Kara uncomfortable. There was something unhinged about her Barry.
"Were a team right? The Justice League? The Flash and Supergirl outside of that?" Kara said studying Barry's body language and facial expressions.
"I'm not The Flash, and I'm not Barry. I don't know what I am. I know if the other Flash didn't create Flashpoint, this version of me wouldn't exist." Barry turned his face away in pain and confusion.
Kara could see something was not only eating at Barry something looked as if it was haunting him. They have just saved the future, the future was theirs, they should be happy and celebrating so why was Barry bent all out of shape and becoming twisted she wondered.
"Are you sure everything is alright?" Kara demanded pacing around.
"WHAT?" Barry said annoyed.
"Something's bothering you or you wouldn't be up in the middle of the night working on that suit." Kara pointed out. Kara came around to see Barry on one knee with his head hung low.
"I had a dream…a nightmare…the future wasn't ours and I didn't change anything. Only delayed the inevitable. Doomsday is still coming to Earth." Barry repeated in a dark voice.
"What?" Kara stopped in front of him, giving him a dark look.
"I saw that symbol in my dreams." Barry replied pointing at the murder board at the Kryptonian symbol. Kara turned her head and upon seeing the symbol her eyes widen in horror.
"You know what that symbol means?" Bary asked as he rubbed his forehead painfully struggling to his feet looking over at Kara.
"It's the symbol for Doom." Kara answered.
"Doom? Care to elaborate?" Barry asked in a low but kind dark voice.
"It can mean anything. Unstoppable, inevitable, world ending doom…" Kara told him.
"Our world wasn't supposed to survive. It's Time correcting itself or maybe something that was going to happen after Earth became New Krypton." Barry said, rubbing his forehead.
Barry gets another flash of darkness, a city burning, a monstrous creature growling as it pummels him into the ground with those monstrous red eyes. Barry couldn't see it clearly; it was fast, faster then him. Barry shook his head and whatever he was seeing away. Kara saw Barry rubbing his temples.
"Are you ok Barry?" Kara asked in a concerned voice.
"This future, this timeline, our life, was created when the other Barry ran back in time and changed the past. Creating a new past and a new future. Then when things didn't work out…we were just a disposable timeline to be thrown away when Barry Allen was done with me, with us. He didn't care about me, about us. Why should I care about anything outside our world, our universe, our timeline?" Barry said his voice distorting and his eyes turning purple.
Kara saw Barry turn away as another vision of the monstrous creature appeared in his mind. This time he saw a bloody Supergirl in a torn and tattered custom exchanging earth shattering blows but no matter how hard she hit the creature it just kept coming and coming as if nothing could stop it and nothing could kill it. Kara watched Barry clutch his head painfully.
"What is it?" Kara inquired giving Barry a concerned look.
"Hahaha, it's like my mind is remembering a future I have yet to live or adjusting to the new path our timeline is on and I'm remembering it because chronologically I…am…" Barry answered, pausing for a moment.
"What?" Kara said, holding Barry's shoulder as he turned his head to her.
"The Future Flash…" Barry told her. Barry had an evil smile as he turned away from her limping favoring his left leg.
"What do we do? Should I stop what the monster in your…memories?" Kara asked.
"No, it doesn't matter. Let it come. No monster can stop a god." Barry told her in a confident tone looking over at her.
"You're not a god barry." Kara reminded him looking at his injured leg but he wasn't listening to reason.
"We changed the future once. We can do it again and again, defying Time and proving we have the right to exist as any other Earth or timeline in the multiverse. We will not be abandoned and forgotten." Barry told her before striking off in purple lighting.
"Barry!" Kara called out to him but it was too late. He was already gone…
