Beerus and Whis stood inside the home of Gowasu, waiting for the supreme kai to come with the time ring. While they were waiting, Whis decided to tell Beerus something.

"It seems as though Zamasu was unaware of the existence of the time rings until we mentioned them."

"You're right."

Just then, the large door leading to the room they were in opened, revealing Zamasu and Gowasu, the latter holding a black box with a cloud pattern on it. Gowasu apologized for keeping the two deities waiting, and walked with his apprentice beside him up to a table in front of Beerus and Whis, setting the box down on top of it and opening it.

Within the box were 5 rings identical to the time ring Goku wore, but 4 of them were green. Gowasu explained to the two gods,

"As you can see, all rings are present and accounted for."

"Indeed."

Whis disappointedly said,

"I guess the search continues, huh?"

"Yes. for a moment you had me worried I had made some grave mistake. But now that we see all is in order, I have to ask why you came to universe 10 for answers to a problem that occurred in the 7th."

"Oh, right now we're just going from universe to universe paying a visit to them all."

"Is that so? Actually, if this helps, there was something that occurred with the time rings a year and a half ago."

Beerus's ears perked up at this.

"Oh? Do tell."

"While I was making tea, I suddenly had a strange feeling, like I was somewhere I shouldn't be. Not only that, but the box containing the time rings was shaking. I opened it to find that the rings were glowing for an unknown reason. However, they quickly went back to normal and my strange feeling stopped. Can this information be of use?"

Whis rubbed his chin in contemplation.

"A year and a half ago…that was around the time Lord Beerus woke up. Now that you mention it, I also felt a slight tremor not long before Lord Beerus awoke. Perhaps this is linked to this Son Goku person."

Beerus then yawned and said,

"Well, I've seen the rings which is all we came for, and I haven't had my after dinner dessert."

"Desert, you say?"

"Come on Whis, let's go."

"Yes, my lord. Well if you'll please excuse us, then."

Gowasu bowed and said,

"Of course."

Beerus and Whis then walked out to the courtyard to find Rikku holding a sleeping Bulla. Beerus told her,

"Come on Rikku, we're leaving!"

Rikku nodded and ran towards the two gods, grabbing onto Beerus as the 4 rose into the air and were engulfed by a pillar of light. Zamasu simply watched on coldly. As the gods and saiyans crossed across universes, Beerus and Whis began discussing Zamasu, WHis beginning the conversation.

"Between the antisocial psyche that's clearly lurking within him and the energy that he projected outward…"

"Yeeeessss?"

"I'd say our suspicions that Zamasu has something to do with Goku have been circumstantially coaborated, although there are elements we can't yet explain or prove."

"Well if you and I believe it, then maybe I should just dispense of him now while I can."

Rikku then decided to pipe into the conversation.

"Actually…his energy didn't feel that much like Goku's. I mean, I think there was a little bit of it, but that's all."

"As I said, there are still mysteries to solve."

After Whis said that, the 4 beings had a quiet rest of their trip back to Universe 7.

A whirlwind of emotions was going through Trunks's head. After Rikku's battle against Goku, he had gone to talk to Krillin and Piccolo about Gohan. They had mentioned that Gohan had a family now and hadn't been training regularly, and the mention of a family had brought Trunks to silence. He had considered going to visit Gohan, but he just couldn't.

He couldn't face who could very well be a younger VIdel and Pan knowing that he had failed them. He also learned that Krillin had married this timeline's Android 18 and had a kid with her, so that was a thing. He also learned that his past self was palling around with a trio of kids known as the Pilaf Gang.

Trunks could have sworn that he remembered his mother mentioning something about them in passing. In order to clear his head of all the things he had seen and learned, he had decided to ask for a spar with his father, which brought him to now, standing in the woods right across from him.

Vegeta asked Trunks,

"So, did you ever run into Lord Beerus in your future?"

"You mean that purple cat god? No. Never."

"Hmph. Well then, show me what you've accomplished in the future."

Trunks nodded and burst into super saiyan 2. Vegeta smirked upon seeing this.

"Well, at least you managed to attain the state beyond super saiyan."

Vegeta powered up to super saiyan 2 as well, but Trunks knew he could go farther. The half-saiyan told his father,

"Dad, there's no need to hold back! You can spar with me at full strength! Use that red haired form like Rikku did!"

Vegeta simply chuckled and said,

"Oh I could use that form, but I think I'll do one better."

The prince of saiyans's eyes suddenly glowed blue, and his aura exploded in a cyan light. Once the light cleared, Trunks saw Vegeta with cyan-blue hair, blue eyes, and a vibrant, fiery electric blue aura. Trunks was shocked. What form was this? Vegeta then said,

"This is the super saiyan form of super saiyan god. Or you can simply call it super saiyan blue."

"Super saiyan….blue?"

"This timeline has grown FAR beyond what you may have even thought imaginable."

Vegeta then charged towards Trunks, and the hybrid did the same. However, Trunks's attack was blocked with one finger.

"On a scale of 1 to 100…"

Vegeta slammed Trunks's face into the ground.

"I'd give you a 30 at best!"

He then kicked Trunks through the forest, following after violently pummeling him until he collided with a mountain and was reverted to base form. As the half saiyan grasped his stomach in pain, Vegeta looked at him in disappointment. Trunks struggled to his feet and said,

"Father….that form….it was incredible! But I have a question."

"What is it boy?"

"How exactly IS Rikku alive? I thought that the dragon balls couldn't bring her back."

"During the Majin Buu conflict, an old supreme kai that Gohan accidentally freed from a legendary sword gave his life to Karat so that she could help in the fight."

"I see. In my timeline Buu showed up about 23 years from now, though the supreme kai did mention that Babidi only came then because there weren't many strong fighters. And… there was a kai in the sword?"

"Yes, why?"

"In my timeline, Dabura turned the Z-sword to stone and it was shattered. If it hadn't been turned to stone, maybe that kai could've helped us. But…with this super saiyan blue, you and Rikku should be able to take that monster down with no problem. It looks like my own strength doesn't matter now."

Trunks smiled, but this enraged Vegeta, who picked him up by the shirt collar and yelled,

"Look at me, dumbass!!!"

Trunks looked at his father in shock as Vegeta continued yelling,

"Wipe that smile off your face! Defeating 'Goku', is that your only goal? You think it ends there?! Think about the next threat, in a year, or 5, or 10! Or think about your pride! You're the last saiyan in your timeline, and if you truly are my son as you claim, then I won't tolerate you losing to anyone! You'll be the best, OR YOU'LL BE NOTHING!"

Before Trunks could respond, Rikku suddenly appeared with Instant transmission. Vegeta growled under his breath. Of course she was here. He reverted to base form and asked her,

"And what are you doing here?!"

He pushed Trunks away, and the two began arguing. As they did so, Trunks took this chance to headbutt Vegeta in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. Enraged, the saiyan prince was about to get up and beat Trunks to an inch of his life, but to his shock his son was smiling and said,

"So that counts as landing a blow, right? I guess that means I win."

Vegeta gritted his teeth as Trunks cheerfully laughed. The half saiyan then told his father,

"I hear you, and I will get stronger. Stronger than Goku, and stronger than you."

Trunks held his hand out for his father to take it, but the saiyan prince simply walked off. Rikku sighed at this. Her husband was really bad at praising others sometimes. As Vegeta was walking away, Rikku shouted at him,

"You know, I came to tell you that me, Beerus and Whis's investigation led pretty much nowhere. But since you're deciding to be a grumpypants, I guess I'll go visit Bulma!"

Rikku then put two fingers to her forehead and teleported away. As Trunks was about to leave as well, Vegeta suddenly turned and yelled at him,

"If you really want to be strong enough to fight him on your own, come with me! We're going to the time chamber. By the time a year will have passed Bulma will have likely finished the time machine."

"The time chamber? But we've already used both days."

"Dende upgraded the chamber after it was destroyed during the Majin Buu conflict. I'm going to teach you how to use the power of gods."

"The…power of gods?"

"Yes, now come along."

Vegeta and Trunks flew off, and after a short flight arrived on Dende's lookout. They greeted the namekian guardian and Mr Popo, and Vegeta walked to the chamber door, opening it and motioning for Trunks to enter. Trunks breathed in and out, readying himself for the hellish training that surely awaited him. The half-saiyan then entered the time chamber, and shut the door behind him.
