Hi Readers: What did you guys think of that chapter? Do you agree with their plan to wear sweats, rather than continue getting all hot and sexy with each other? Let me know in the comments. But first, how about you read this new chapter? Thanks again and enjoy.
Chapter Seven
Calming Down in Sweats
Matt could tell just by looking at his beautiful wife as he walked out of the washroom that she wasn't wearing her sweats but was instead wearing some of his sweats; the sweats that he just recently bought on their way here so that he could get comfortable while they were here; after all, he does need to get a bunch of new clothes when they're back in Chicago due to the fact that he lost all of them in the fire. But that's not all, as Gabby might also need to get some of hers from Puerto Rico, while also getting her some new winter clothes. Heck, who knows what else they need to do. All Matt knows is that the two of them are happy, and that's all that matters at the entire of the day. And just the fact that they're happy makes Matt happy, simply due to the fact that he doesn't remember the last time that the two of them were this happy, for this long. And while that may sound sad, it was also perfect; for them to be this happy while they're married, well that's his dream come true. He's so happy that they're still married.
After all, there's nobody like Gabby; she's the love of his life, and the woman he's honored to call his wife. Honored to have a chance to spend the rest of his life loving her. The woman who looked absolutely sexy, even as she wore sweats, as she laid down in the comfort of their bed; while concentrating on the flat screen TV, on which she was watching some Christmas movie. "You order us some supper already?" Looking up from her iPad, Gabby smiled at her husband when she saw him; while also trying to act like she heard him, even though she didn't. "Oh, did you say something baby?" Matt nodded, smiling at his wife. "I asked if you already ordered some supper for the both of us." Gabby bit her lip, while also sharing her head as she hadn't. "Oh, sorry baby. I didn't order." Matt nodded, agreeing with Gabby as she said that. "It's fine. What are you looking at though?" Gabby sighed. "I was just starting a search that we need to start eventually." Matt was confused as he made his way over to his bed in his sweats, with the hopes of joining Gabby in bed.
And not just by laying down next to her, but by holding her in his arms. "How about you slip over so that I can sit down next to you?" Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, smiling as that's precisely what she wants him to do. She wants him to get in bed and wrap his arm around her as they cuddle up to each other. "Also, we need to figure out what we're going to eat. Maybe something we can order." Looking up at her husband, Gabby bit her lip again. "Maybe we can order some McDonalds?" Matt snickered. "McDonalds?" Gabby smiled before playing with him. "What, do you have a body to maintain?" Lifting up his shirt, Matt showed off his new six pack that he's been working on a lot more. "I've been at the gym more often with Severide." Gabby laughed and agreed with Matt as he told her that, before slipping over in bed like he wanted so that she can cuddle up to him, which is what they both want to do with each other right now. They both want to hold each other, as they just relax in the comfort of their bed.
As she cuddles up to the man of her dreams, whom she's so happy to be reunited with. "Baby, you're a firefighter. You can get a workout every shift." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, as it was the truth. "Fine, we can order some McDonald's." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Good, because I was just playing with you; I already ordered us some chicken burgers and pops. I thought you'd like a chicken burger with salads." Matt smiled and agreed with Gabby, as that sounded like a good supper. "Sounds great. How do we order it? Or, do we have to get it?" Gabby bit her lip when her husband asked her that. "Uhm…" Matt then realized what was about to come next. "I'm going to get it, aren't I?" Setting her iPad down beside her, Gabby got up on her hands and knees; smiling, she made her way over to Matt and "stood" right in front of him while placing her hands on his chest. Meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arms around Gabby as he stared into her eyes and kissed her. "Do you mind?" Matt smiled, while also shaking his head as he didn't.
He didn't mind whatsoever, as he knew that it was what she wanted; just like he knew what he wanted right now, which is a nice kiss from the woman he loves. A kiss that he was enjoying, until he noticed what Gabby was looking at; which would be flights to Puerto Rico. After which, he turned to look at his wife as he was getting concerned. "Hey, why are you looking at flights to Puerto Rico?" Gabby took a breath and looked at her husband. "I'm thinking about it, so that we can get my things. I just don't want you to be mad at me." Sitting down next to Gabby (while facing her), Matt agreed with his wife as he got close to her and then grabbed her hand; after which, he stroked her hand and looked into her eyes. Meanwhile, Gabby placed her hand on the side of Matt's face as they both leaned their foreheads against one another's. "Matt, I want you to stay for a bit rather than go get the food. I don't want to get in a fight over this." Just looking into Gabby's eyes, he could clearly see that she was nervous right now. "Of course, let's talk."
And that meant that he wasn't going anywhere, not when he needs to be here with Gabby. "How about this, maybe we check whether they deliver here? Maybe the will." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, as that was a good idea. "Let's do that. Then, we can talk about why I'm looking at flights to Puerto Rico." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told me that, before putting his hand on the side of her face. Leaning in, he smiled due to the fact that he was very happy; happy to have his wife back, which is why she better be looking at buying two tickets if she's going back to Puerto Rico. Because now that they've talked and are in a better place, he doesn't have any plans on letting her go. He just loves her too much to do that.
Matt's POV: Shortly after ordering supper this evening, I smiled as I sat down in bed with the woman I love before moving close to her and wrapping my arm around her. And as I did so, I took a glance at just how beautiful my wife is. How gorgeous this woman I love truly is, which reminds me each and every day that I'm a lucky man; especially now that I'm holding her in my arms. And I'm just so glad that we're together right now, which is precisely why I grabbed the covers; after which, I tugged them up on top of the both of us. Afterwards, I wrapped my arm around Gabby nice and tight; while Gabby set her iPad down and climbed into my lap, while slipping her legs in between mine as she cuddled up to me. Meanwhile, I wrapped my arm around her back as we both cuddled up to each other; with my hand on her leg, I soon turned my head and pressed my lips to her forehead. And let's just say that made Gabby smile. Moving my finger under her chin, I pushed her head up and then bent down to kiss her softly this afternoon.
Taking things nice and slow with my beautiful wife, I smirked as she's very sexy, and all mine. "I love you." Gabby agreed with me as I told her that I love her. "I love you too, and I'm happy to be here." I nodded, though that statement confused me. "Ok, then I'm confused. If you're happy to be here, then why are you looking at flights to Puerto Rico?" Gabby took a breath. "If I'm moving back, I need to get my things; and I still need to resign. And the truth is, I've gotten close to the people on the team; so, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable doing it over the phone as I would want to say goodbye." I agreed with Gabby as she said that, while running my hand up and down her back. "Yeah, that makes sense." Turning my head, I pressed my lips to her forehead. "I just need to know whether you'd be coming with me." I looked down at Gabby when she asked me that, smirking as I wrapped my arms around her. "Well, I need to go with you so that I can make sure that you come back." Gabby agreed with me, smiling as I told her that. After all, that's happening.
She's coming home. "Oh, I'm definitely coming back to you." I agreed with Gabby when she said that, before bending down and kissing the woman I love nice and slowly. God, she is so damn sexy, and I want her. "Matt, can I ask you a question?" I looked at Gabby when she asked me that. "What is it baby?" Gabby took a breath, clearly getting a bit nervous. "Hey, look at me. Don't get quiet on me, and just talk to me. What's going on babe?" Gabby sighed. "If I asked you to come back to Puerto Rico with me for a while, where we can just go to take time together away from Chicago and rekindle our love…would you do it?" I looked at Gabby as she asked me that question. "Talk to me about that baby." Gabby took a breath as she slipped up my chest, putting her hand on my heart. "Matt, we have time off right now. We have time to be with each other. And I know we booked this place to be with each other. But the truth is, I think that us being here is not going to be enough." I was confused as I heard Gabby say that, though I decided to hear her out.
After all, that's what you do when you're working things out with your wife. "Matt, if they need you at work…as much as you want to say that you're stall off; we both know that you're going to go do the shift and not take time off again, then all the progress we can make might either get delayed or go backwards. We might even go right back to how things were." I thought about it and agreed with Gabby, as I could see that happening. "And that worries me Matt, because of how much I want to make this work. I moved back here to Chicago because I want you to be my husband forever." I nodded, before feeling Gabby cuddle up to me some more; while I ran my hand up and down her back, kissing her forehead at the same time. "You want the same, right?" I nodded and agreed with Gabby. "Hey, of course I do baby." Gabby smiled at me when I said that, glad that I said that. I mean, how could she not smile at the sound of that? It's precisely what she wants to hear, she wants to hear that I want to be with the woman I love for the rest of my life.
And that's precisely why Gabby decided to suggest something we can do. "Matt, then what do you say we do what we should've done when we first had those problems? Or, at least, what I think we needed to do?" Looking down, I decided to keep listening. "In my opinion, we should've gotten out of time. We should've gotten away and concentrated on each other for a while. We can get away from Chicago, and all the bad memories we had here. We can take it easy with each other, and we can have fun in the sun. We can relax with each other, and we can concentrate on each other without having to worry about work. We can do volunteer work and everything. Matt, I can't explain just how rewarding it was. Matt, can I be honest with you?" I nodded. "Always." Taking a breath, Gabby looked into my eyes. "Matt, the real reason I asked you to come to Puerto Rico wasn't just because I wanted you to come…" I nodded, agreeing with Gabby. "The truth is…I thought that you needed it. I thought you needed to get away and escape Chicago."
I was confused when I heard Gabby say that, but still said nothing and listened to her. "Matt, I know that Chicago is your home; and that you told me that you're a Chicago guy." I agreed with Gabby, nodding as I also smiled. "But Matt, while Chicago is your home; it's also a place where you have a lot of bad memories. You were abused here, your mom killed your dad and went to jail here, you lost Andy here, you lost Hallie here, I lost Shay here, we lost Louie here…." Taking a breath, Gabby seemed to try and figure out what she wanted to say. "There's a lot of things that I can say happened here, most of them not that good. Things here have been horrible, and they've just hurt us so much. And Matt, the truth is that you would be the only reason why I would come back. I would only come back for you." Looking into Gabby's eyes, I couldn't help but feel my heart break. The only reason she'd come back to Chicago, is so that she can be with me. "Matt, I'm scared here. I'm scared that we'll repeat our same mistakes. The mistakes that we made and led to this."
I agreed with Gabby. "I don't want that Matt. I don't want us to screw up. I want to be with you for the rest of my life." I took a breath as I stared into Gabby's eyes, while listening to her as I kissed her softly. "Matt, I don't want to ask you this, but I have to. I feel like…do you want to prioritize our marriage, or your life here in Chicago?" I thought about it as I stared into her eyes. "Gabby, of course I want to prioritize our marriage. I always want to prioritize our marriage. I am so sorry that I never did that." Gabby agreed with me and smiled when I said that. "Matt, I need you to listen to me then. I need you to really listen to me as the woman who loves you more than anything in the entire world, the woman who knows you best. I see that you're hurt here. That you're still dealing with a lot of emotions here in Chicago. And I can't help but wonder whether you're really ever going to be able to deal with them here." I thought about what Gabby said, while really taking a minute to think about what she just said, which led to me agreeing with her.
After all, I can just see that being the truth. "Matt, I know that you're worried about this. I know that this would be a huge change, and I know that this isn't normal for you. And I know that you don't really like the idea of going somewhere new. But, at the same time, maybe it's what you need baby. Maybe this, the apartment burning down, was what we needed to realize together that Chicago isn't where we belong. Matt, I know I said I'd stay with you; but I think that what we really need is to get away. It's time for you to try something new, and we can do it together…because it'll be good for the both of us in my opinion." I took a minute to think about what Gabby told me, before putting my hand on her neck. Leaning up, I smirked as I proceeded to kiss her softly while taking things nice and slow with the woman of my dreams. I smirked as I'm really happy over the fact that we're here with each other. And this is what I want for the rest of my life. I want to be with Gabby for the rest of my life. And maybe she's right, maybe we should get out of here.
Get out of here and escape all the drama that we've experienced here, all the drama that we've dealt with here in Chicago. I then took a breath as I looked at Gabby, smiling at the woman I love more than anything. "One condition…" Gabby looked at me as I said that. "Name it." I smirked. "You tell me the minute you get pregnant, and we take some time off to be together before we get back to work. I promise, we can quit the CFD, and I'll go with you. But I want a bit of time with you, and if you do get pregnant, you need to do whatever you can to be safe. We talk, and we do it together." Gabby agreed with me and smirked when I said that. "You got yourself a deal. But, you need to get me pregnant." I laughed and agreed with Gabby when she told me that, ready to escape Chicago for some fun in the sun. "Agreed. Maybe we can delay our anniversary celebration? Do it down there?" Gabby smirked and agreed with me. "Sounds perfect." I agreed with her, smiling as I'm ready for a new start.
