Emma Swan had arrived in Storybrooke six months prior, from Boston. She had moved there to restart living far from big cities and their chaos, in a place where she could have a more relaxed life, and something had led her to Storybrooke a cold and hidden small town in Maine in the core of the woods.

Much to the Mayor's surprise, Emma Swan had been capable to pass through the magic spell that surrounded the Storybrooke without consequences; she had later discovered what Henry was the first to understood, that Emma Swan was in fact coming from her own enchanted realm, all thanks to a book that Mary-Margaret, his teacher, had given to him where every fairytale was displayed with pictures of each protagonists.

Emma, came out to be the Savior, meant to break the Dark Curse and bring everyone their happy ending, as she was born from True Love; the one between Jody and Mark Cole, queen and king of The Land by the Great River neighboring the Enchanted Forest. Both, unfortunately, had passed away a couple of years before her arrival in town.

The Dark Curse had been cast by a powerful wizard known as the Dark One, Rumpelstiltskin, with the help of a great witch known as the Evil Queen, Regina.

The first had conceived the dark spell, using a single hair from a couple sharing True Love and had then convinced the Evil Queen to help him, her old magic teacher, on casting the curse, with the promise of a new life filled with love, in a place where no one would have had a way to remember who she was nor what she had done.

Regina had started playing evil, for real, only after Snow White, her daughter in law, and the population of their realm had started calling her with such 'pretty' nickname as Evil Queen, and only because she had cheated on the princess' father, King Leopold, and maybe tried to kill him afterwards…but she had been brought to commit such acts only because of years of abuses that Regina had to endure from her spouse without loosing her composure nor talking about it to living soul.

If it was evilness that they wanted, she would give it to them. That's what she had thought right before fully committing to her dark side. However, after sometimes, the Queen got tired of being Evil; she just wanted someone who would call her by her real name again and who wouldn't fear her and her intimidating appearance but, on the contrary, someone whom would love her for who she really was and not just because she demanded them to. She was so tired of it all. Therefor the Dark One's offer, in that moment of her life, felt so appealing and she decided to help him out with his mischievous plan.

At first, everything had been exactly like she had dreamt it to be, in this new reality. Finally in a new realm, with a new life and everyone's respect as town's Mayor, calling her Madame Mayor or Miss Mills, and on top of it all, she had also adopted a beautiful baby boy, naming him after her beloved father, Henry, and she couldn't love him more.

After some years, however, every day had started looking the same as the one before and the mayor begun to feel lonely again because, sure, she had a splendid son and the people's respect, but, yet something was still missing. Something she had long forgotten to be longing for.

In all those years her heart had become dull as a stone. She was getting more and more bored and also feeling guilty about it, so one evening, on a particularly hot night, Miss Mills went outside to take a late walk and found herself wishing for all of that to end; she wished for someone to arrive and uncover her, crash her fake life and get her to feel real emotions once again. The mayor had got back to her mansion and went to sleep dreaming upon a wishing star.

The morning after, Miss Swan had arrived into town like Regina had, some way, summoned her. The blonde, had soon found out about the magical reality and she had eventually broke the curse, afterwards she had sworn to find a happy ending to each one of Storybrooke's citizens; but would Regina be part of those whom the Savior would get a happy ending for? She didn't know...although she secretly hoped for it.

Thanks to Emma Swan people had rapidly come to understand that the fault, for casting the Dark Curse and all of what had happened next, was all but Rumplestiltskin's and, sure, Regina had been the so called Evil Queen, but many years had passed without her harming anyone and on the contrary, she had run the town in the best way for everyone and all citizens had witnessed her drastic change since Henry's arrival in her life as well, so they were fast convinced upon forgiving her for her past actions, as long as she would keep running the town in the best way possible for all of them.

After becoming the new Sheriff of Storybrooke, and all that had follow that, a lot of time had passed before the Savior reluctantly took upon her task of searching for everyone's happy ending; but then again her and everyone's life had been suddenly twisted, because of some sort of creatures that had started roaming around town, killing wild animals first and then magical creatures as well, so Sheriff Swan's 'Happily ever after' mission had been momentarily put aside, to deal with those more pressuring matters.
