…
…
… ZzzzZz…
…
…
… Zz?
…
…
… Wha-
What… happened? Where am… I? This place… looks… familiar… Probably because… this is our room. Which by our room I mean mine and Azzys. Speak- Thinking of which, Asriel is finally coming back home yesterday!
…
Wait, yesterday? I… I don't… What happened yesterday? And… the day before? And the day before that? The last thing I can seem to remember is… going to bed… with school tomorrow… after the weekend…
…
I can't seem to remember the entirety of last week.
…
…
…
Whatever.
…
I'm ready to get up now.
…
You gonna make me do it myself? Wow. I'm so flattered.
…
Don't wanna.
…
(Sigh)
…
I finally get the strength to move my blanket off of me and start moving myself off my bed.
Come on, it's just one leg here, then move, like this… ugh.
… Huh, I'm feeling kinda stiff, like… I ran a marathon… while lifting weights (not that I would know what either of those activities actually feel like).
…
…
After finally getting myself properly up out of bed, I make my way downstairs. Don't see Mom anywhere, or Azzy… Today is Saturday, Right? And Azzy should have came back home yesterday, so they should be here, at least Mom. Unless… wai wha time zit?
…
Shit it's past noon.
Looks like I mighta overslept, which isn't unusual for me. Must've done something yesterday that left me all exhausted and… sweaty?
And now that I look down at myself…
…
Blech
…
…
…
I should get myself cleaned up.
By the time I'm outta the house, it's already past 1. If I were to guess where Mom and Azzy were… it's out here… somewhere. Considering Az has been away from Hometown for almost a year, hes probably got the whole town houndin' him with… conversation topics, as Mom would say. Probably stuff like: 'How's college?' 'What's it like in the city?' 'Got a girlfriend?' 'Regret leaving behind Kris?'.
…
Ok, probably not the last one I'm just venting (Sus).
Now where to start…
…
Alright! Heart buddy! You're better at finding things than I am, so go on ahead! Move me around! Lead me into everlasting darkness!
…
…
…
Nothing… seriously?
…
Are you… still there?
…
Are you gone?
…
Am I… am I…
I… I…
…
… Please…
…
… Don't do this to me…
…
… I swear if you're pranking me…
…
… If you don't answer in the next 5 sec-
"Kris!"
… Who?
"… Susie?"
It's Susie! My… friend?
…
That doesn't- that's not right. Last I checked, Susie hates me. Well, maybe… dislikes is a more accurate word, I doubt she actually hates me. But still, she's like, the class bully, especially towards me. So why in the memory-loss hell is my mind telling me we're, 'friends'.
"Hey uh… you just gonna… stand there and stare at me?"
"We're friends?"
"Uhhh, yeah. Course (kinda outta nowhere)."
Hmm… I gots a dea.
"… So, when exactly did we become… 'friends'?"
"I… abou-… like, last week dude."
Last week… which does not exist in my mind. Yet, I knew about how we are now, what would be considered, friends. My mind doesn't remember but maybe my… soul(?)… does Hmm…
…
Imma just get to the point.
"Do you remember anything else from last week?"
"Nope."
…
Uh…
"What do you mean 'nope' (and why did you say it so nonchalant)?"
"… It… means no."
"I know what 'nope' means, I'm askin' why you don't remember last week."
"I dunno."
"… And you… don't find that…"
"What… odd?"
"Odd, weird, alarming?"
"Uh… happens?"
"No, no it doesn't."
"Well-"
"I don't remember anything from last week either."
"Uh-"
"You think it's completely normal for a couple people to just… forget the same exact week, like it didn't exist?"
"Well… when you put it that way-"
"Which may, in turn, mean more people have also forgot-"
"Alright, alright! I get it! Forgettin' a whole-ass week ain't normal!"
Something's wrong.
A whole week of my life is just… gone, yet something happened during that week which somehow led Susie and I to be, friends. And my other… 'friend' is MIA, after that same week. What else happened last week that I can't remember? Any other massive changes to this world? Did any one I know die or something?
…
Wait, is Asriel even… here?
He's not like, dea-
…
I quickly move right in front of Susie and grab her arms.
"Azzy! Is Azzy… Susie is he… he…"
"Whoa, whoa! Kris, geez!" She puts her hands on my shoulders. "I just saw your brother on the way here, Toriel was…"
Phew… phew… phew… oh my… I… that's… If… if something happened to Asriel… and I… I would… have…
"Kris, you uh, still there?"
…
"… No."
"There you are." She smiles.
"… Can you let go of me?" At this point my arms were back at my side, however, Susie was still gripping my shoulders (not hard or anything). She lets go.
"Ah, whoops um, sorry 'bout that."
"'S fine."
…
"So, where did you see my fam?"
I have a lot to think about.
Hmm, maybe I… we? Can do some investigating. Obviously something important must have happened last week, something the world doesn't want us to remember. But someones gotta remember, right?
…
Maybe not.
"And here we are!"
… Of course…
Susie led me to where she last saw Mom and Azboi, and I shouldn't be surprised. Sans', the convenience store owned by, who would guess, Sans (ze skeletôn). Mom seems to be… 'interested' in this weird guy.
Also this guy seemed to just… materialize into Hometown right before last… week…
…
Wuh oh, seems we have a potential suspect.
"Kris, I know this guys not… um… … he's weird."
"Yes."
We go through the entrance door, which makes a quiet bell sound. The store looks… just like any other convenience store that I've seen… except much smaller. Like… kinda like, gas station store size, without any sort of gas pumps outside. Place feels as weird as its owner, yet oddly (unexpectedly) familiar.
"sup kiddo."
There weirdo be, right in front of the coun- wai why he wearin' a banana costume?
"… The fuck are you wearing." I would also like to know.
"sanana."
"… Wha-"
"sanana the skenana."
…
…
"… Was my mom here?"
"just missed her kid, i think she said she was headin' to the mayors house."
"K."
"also, she came in here with her other kid; your bro. ended up 'befriendin' 'im-"
I left without another word, with Susie following right behind me. I'll interrogate him later when he's…
In a more 'sane' state.
We made our way back near where we started, the road that leads to m'house, and-
Wait…
"… How long ago was it when you saw Mom and Azzy outside Sans' place?"
"Err… I dunno. Like, a few minutes ago? Why?"
"We didn't pass them on the way to Sans'"
"…?"
… Do I really need to explain?
"We should have passed by them on our way to Sans'."
"Oh… OH!"
Not really surprised; Susie's… a little slow…
"Uhh… can your mom and brother teleport?"
"No."
"Huh…"
Add that to the list of oddities today.
…
We get to the gate to the Holiday house, only to find it already open.
"Sick! We don't have to go over it!"
…
"… Is going over the gate to Noelle's house something you do often?"
"How else are you supposed to go through a gate? It's there to make it harder for people to get through."
"You're supposed to be let through by someone on the other side."
"Well…" She pauses for a moment, before something seems to have popped in her head. "Well, how would anyone get through if there's no one on the other side?" She smirks, as if she has made an irrefutable statement.
"… A key."
"… Ah…"
We continue on the short path between the gate and the house and- Wait. I don't think she got what I was trying to say. I…
…
… I'll just… leave it at that.
…
We make it to the door and I give it the ol' Kris knock.
(knock… knock knock)
…
Unique, I know…
…
…
…
… Maybe they're not-
Suddenly, the door opens and I see a familiar deer-like monster.
"Back so soo- oh! Looks like Krismas came a little late today."
Rudy!? Last I remember, he was in the hospital. And he wasn't doing to good…
"… Er, hey… was-"
"Looking for your folks? Well, you just missed them sleepyhead." He says with a smile on his face.
HOW!? We just…
"… Uh, good afternoon, Mr. Holiday." Susie says that a little nervously (Why? idk).
"Faha! And you brought Susie too! This house is getting all the nicest gifts today!"
…
Well, since we're here, might as well do some sleuthing.
"… May we come in?"
"Ah! Apologies. Of course. Come in, come in!"
We make our way into the livin room, and just now do I notice Rudy is walking a little slow… with a cane (a big candycane style one too).
…
"… You getting around okay Rudy?"
"Hm?… Ah. I'm fine, really. Just still recovering a little. See this little thing?" He hold up the candy-cane a little. "It's just a temporary thing to help me move around a bit better. Nothing to worry about!"
"I'm glad to see you're doing better, Mr. Holiday."
"Faha! Susie, I thought I told you that you can just call me 'Rudy'."
"Ah… R- right… Rudy."
…
I've always wondered why Susie tends to be more… Shy? Polite? Nervous?… around most adults. One of life's greatest mysteries.
"Dad? Who was at th- S- Susie!? Kris?"
Oh… there she is…
Noelle…
"Uh… hey." Susie says with a small smile.
"… Sup."
"Wh-what are you two doing here?"
"… Looking for my mom and Azzy.
"Oh… you… just missed them."
"That's what I told them!"
"… We seem to always be a step behind."
"I'm surprised you didn't see them on the way here."
"… Me too."
"Kris, are you sure they can't teleport?" Noelle and Rudy both start laughing at Susie's question.
"Faha! Now that would be hoot!"
"Fahaha! Yeah, I wish I could just teleport anywhere!"
Suddenly, what sounds like a phone alarm sounds off.
"Fa… ah… time to take my meds. Noelle? Be a deer and keep our guests company."
"Ha… sure thing, Dad."
Rudy leaves in the direction of the kitchen leaving Noelle, Susie and I in an… awkward silence…
…
…
…
"So… you remember last week?"
"What about last week?"
We moved to sit in the living room, with Susie and Noelle on the couch and me on a lounge chair. I spent the last minute or so telling Noelle about the week-no-one-knows, and she simply nods a few times during the explanation.
"… Huh, now that I think about it… I have zero recollection of last week too."
"Weird, huh?"
"A bit…"
WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'a bit…'! I would think that you of all people would at least raise an eyebrow. Why am I the only one taking this seriously?
"You okay Kris?" At least you're concerned about me…
"… Not really."
"Mnm…" She didn't seem to like that response.
…
"W-well, if you don't remember it… maybe… nothing important happened?"
"Susie and I are friends."
"U- u- um… y-yes?"
"That happened last week."
"R- right?"
"I would consider that important."
"U- um… then… maybe… … you hit your head and… forget a week?"
"Unless we all hit our heads, that wouldn't make any sense."
"Uhh… can I say something?" Susie asks, probably feeling like she's not supposed to be a part of this conversation.
"Yes."
"Does it really matter?"
Wha-
"Of course it matters! We went over this earlier!"
"Look, Kris. I get that it's… odd for a buncha people to forget some stuff, but… it's… like… … Just stop making such a big deal out of it!"
Easy for you to say. Who knows what my… 'other self' was doing in that time. What things it did… with my body… and I would never know…
"… I think what Susie is trying to say is that you should just… let it go? Nothing bad happened last week. Look! My dad is back home; he's finally all better!"
That… is true, I mean… Rudy was in the hospital for months.
"Yeah! See Kris, nothing to worry about."
…
…
… I-
"Whatchu kids talking about?" Re-enter Rudy. Giddy as always. Even when potentially on his death bed.
"Well… We all seem to have forgotten last week. Crazy, right?"
"… All you too?"
…
What.
"No way! You too Mr. H-… Rudy?"
"Ah… no. Not me. My wife however, she wouldn't shut up about it."
… Makes sense. Caroline is kind of a control freak, and she takes her job very seriously, so not remembering a whole week is probably pissing her off. Hmm… I wonder if even all data and documents regarding last week are also affected. Wouldn't surprise me.
…
Wait.
"… You remember last week?"
"Yep. Although there's not much to say from my side, being stuck in a hospital bed for way too long."
… But…
"But what do you remember from last week?"
"What I said, 'scuse me" He motions for Susie to move over so he can sit, more specifically, to move closer to Noelle. Being none the wiser, Susie complies, causing her to be kinda close to Noelle (who is now very noticeably blushing). Rudy smirks. "Also all you kids came to visit me a lot, like every day."
… Huh…
"We did?" asks Susie.
"Yep. Mostly Kris."
"Don't forget about me!" Noelle exclaims.
"Yes, but you visited me everyday, even before then."
"So… why were you so eager to see my dad in the hospital, Kris?"
"… Couldn't tell ya."
"Ah…"
…
The room is silent for a moment, before Rudy speaks up.
"Say… you're lookin' for your mom, ya?"
"Correct."
"Well… she went to converse with my wife. You know, showing her college kid around."
"… Makes sense."
"Aren't we like, best off just waiting for them at your house, Kris?" Susie's idea… is actually a good one. Eventually they've gotta come home, right?
"Well, my wife likes to keep busy, so Toriel will likely be waitin' a while. Not to mention how long it may take when they're actually talking. You know how long mother's can talk with each other."
"… So… off to the town hall."
"Aw… I was just gettin' comfey…" Everyone chuckles at Susie's remark.
We all get up and head to the door… or all of us 'cept Rudy.
"I'll walk you guys out." I contemplate whether or not to refute Noelle's offer, seeing as I well know the way off the Holiday property, but Rudy speaks up once more.
"Why not join them on their little quest, sweetie." He says with a wink.
Noelle slightly blushes, seemingly knowing all to well what her father is trying to do.
"A- ahh… um… wil- will you be okay here all by yourself, dad?"
"Me!? Faha! You worry to much, I'm almost at one hundred percent now! No need to fret over your old man."
"Ah, r- right…"
"Go on! Go and 'hang' with kids your own age instead of an old folk like myself."
"Dad! I'm not a kid anymore… and you're not old!"
"Old enough to need a cane to walk around. Now, go on, git! All yous."
Noelle joined the party…
… Is something I would usually think when that thing was moving me around. After all… nothing better to do when you're being controlled by some heart thing than to inwardly commentate on what it's making you do…
…
…
…
I think I need therapy.
Well… here we go again.
Back in the direction to Sans'… Thankfully this time we won't be going in, just passing by to our real destination.
"… So, we really forgot a whole seven days…" Noelle said… kind of somberly. Maybe… she's starting to take this seriously?
"Actually, just five."
"… That's not a 'whole week', Kris!"
"Close enough."
"It's not that bad, than!"
… Shoulda just kept my mouth shut.
…
It's silent between the three of us for a moment. I glance over at Noelle, who's glancing over at Susie, who seems to be in her own world.
…
…
…
Noelle…
…
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of Susie. She somehow managed to win Noelle's heart. How? Who the hell knows. But… Noelle has very clearly fallen for Susie… hard. She's practically obsessed with her (get yourself a girl who looks at you the way Noelle looks at Susie).
…
What makes Susie, of all people, so special. She's a bully for crying out loud; that's not a good thing.
And yet, Noelle is obsessed with her…
…
Why can't she like me instead.
I know I'm nowhere near perfect, but at least I don't torment other people.
…
… I know I used to pull pranks all the time, but that wasn't really me.
It was… Them.
…
I will admit, some of those pranks were hilarious, but jeez, learn some self control, dude.
…
Most of those pranks were directed at Noelle…
…
Because it knew, for a long time, that I liked her…
…
It was trying to help us get together…
…
And ended up doing the opposite…
…
…
…
… Maybe…
…
Maybe now that it's gone…
…
… No…
She's… into Susie… now…
…
It's… too late…
"So, Kris…"
Of course… she somehow sensed that I was thinking about her…
"Why do you want to find your mom so bad?"
"… Asriel."
"What about Asriel?"
"I haven't seen him since last summer…"
"Didn't you see him yesterday?"
"Not that I recall."
"Ah… right…"
We're almost at the town hall now. Just a litt-
"hoi! Kris! Suz! Nell!"
Dat sound-a like-a Tem.
"Hello, Temmie."
"hoi!"
"Temmie! Whatchu doin' ou' here." Noelle seems to be trying to talk somewhat like Temmie.
"Tem run eren, Fo mamma!"
"Aww, that's awfully sweet of you!"
"Wat doing?"
"We're looking for my mom and brother, have you see them?"
"Yis! Them in… Tow haw!"
Hopefully…
"Tem… mus go. By-by!"
"Bye Temmie!"
"See ya."
"… Huh?"
Thar she blows.
"What happened?"
"Susie! Were you not paying attention?"
"Naw, sorry."
"… We just got confirmation that Mom and Az are, in fact, in the town hall."
"Nice." She gives a thumbs up.
…
Meathead.
Now inside the hall of towns, we make our way to the receptionist.
"… The mayor is currently in a meeting. If you wish to see her, please come back another time."
I don't see Momazzy in the foyer, meaning they must be the 'meeting'.
"That's okay! We'll just sit over here." Noelle is probably all too familiar with waiting when she needs to see her mom.
"… Keep it down, please."
And so, we sits.
…
…
…
"Ugh, this sucks."
"Correct Suz."
…
…
"Hey Kris?"
"What?"
"You got games on yo phone?"
"I do."
"Lemme see."
"No, use your own."
"Mine's kinda outdated, so give."
"No."
"C'mon."
"No."
…
…
"Can you check the time at least?"
I think I know what she's plotting. Fortunately…
"It's half past 3."
"You sure?"
"Positive."
"Not gonna pull out you phone and check?"
"There's a clock on the wall over there." I points.
"Oh… What if it's wrong?"
"I'm not pulling out my phone."
…
…
…
"Don-"
"Just give me your phone!"
"No!"
"Be quiet please, or I will have to ask you to leave."
…
…
"(Kris.)"
"(Shush.)"
I can see her arm slowly creepin' towards my pocket. She not-so-subtlety taps it, probably realizing my phone is not in that pocket, then starts reaching behind my back to the other one.
"(Stop that.)"
"(Stop what?)"
I block her hand that's now on my right side, and she does not look pleased.
It's only now that I notice Noelle, whose sitting on the other side of Susie, looking… quite upset about something. What is it?
…
…
Susie has her ar-
Whilst I'm lost in thought, Susie manages to jam her hand in my phone-filled-pocket and quickly steals my phone.
"Ha HAH!"
Suddenly, a loud slam sound emanates from the receptionists desk.
…
Oh no.
Welp.
After getting kicked out of the towny hall, we're now sitting on the steps of the building (not at all blocking the entrance, of course). Noelle is looking down sadly, like she usually does when she gets in trouble. Susie, on the other hand, is…
"Give me back my phone."
"Make me."
…
…
"What are you even doing?" I try to look over her shoulder to see the screen.
"Ey, no peepin'."
"You are in possession of my cellular device. I have a right to know what it is you are doing on it."
"… The fuck is a 'cellular device'?"
"A cellphone."
"Oh… No."
…
"Also it's not your phone anymore."
"That would be theft Susie."
"Not the first time I've thefted something." She smirks.
"Imma report you (also 'thefted' isn't a word)."
"No you ain't!"
"Sure will ('ain't' isn't a word either)."
"Nuh uh."
"Yuh huh."
"NUH UH."
I'm about to do what's called: a pro gamer move. Whilst Susie's distracted arguing with me, I make my move. I quickly grab the phone with both my hands and pry it out of hers, leaving a wide-eyed Susie staring at me.
"Wha- you- you can't just-"
"Gottem."
Now what-
…
…
"Uhh… I can explain."
…
She was watching a Yotuba video… of a subbed MewMew the Series episode…
…
"Didn't know you-"
"SHUDAP KRIS!"
"Hey, it's a good show, nothing to be ashamed of."
"Easy for you to say, nerd! I just wanted to watch the fight scene." This show has no fight scenes.
"K."
"Don't 'K' me."
…
…
…
"Ugh! Goddamnit! Can't we just do something else!"
"You may leave, if you wish."
"Geh…"
…
"Hey Peppermint."
Noelle instinctively perks up at Susies nickname for her.
"Y- Yes!?"
"How long do your moms 'meetings' usually take?"
"Umm… I- I suppose… it, depends?"
"…"
"L-like, like! Maybe an hour… (or two)…"
"WHAT."
"Th- th! That's assuming- for- for her business meetings! She… might not take as long… with Kris' mom…"
"That's still too long!"
…
"Geh…"
…
"G…" She stands up. "SCREW THIS! I'M OU-"
Suddenly the door behind us opens, revealing…
…
A white dog? It barks and runs off…
…
Then Mom and Azzy walk out.
"Er… what was that dog?"
"I'm… not sure… Oh! Kris!" Mom instinctively rushes over and hugs me.
"… Hello Mother." She lets go.
"Oh! Susie and Noelle! nice to see you both again."
"T- Toriel."
"Hello again Toriel!"
"Kris!" Asriel…
I go up to him and hug.
"Whoa… uh, good… afternoon?"
…
…
He's here.
Asriel is here.
He's okay.
I'm okay.
…
Everything is just a little bit better now…
…
Has he gotten even taller?
…
"… I missed you." I let go.
"Missed me for… what, like, a little over half a day?"
Aw shit… here we go again.
"Well… now that you are out and about, my child, I have some schoolwork to grade. Why not properly introduce your brother to your new friend while I do my weekend job as teacher."
"… Sure, Mom."
"Excellent." She starts to leave. "Kris, Asriel, I will have dinner ready for when you two get home. Have fun and, more importantly, be good, alright?"
"… Yes, Mom."
"Sure thing!"
Thar she blows number two.
…
Now, time to catch Azzy up.
"So, none of you remember anything from last week?"
"Correct."
"… Actually, just between Monday and Friday!" Corrects Noelle.
"… Correct."
"Huh…"
C'mon say it… If my theory proves true…
"Can't say I relate."
Bingo. So that means, this memory loss thing has only affected those who were in Hometown during last week; although, that wouldn't explain why Rudy remembers… Maybe because he was… inside the whole time?
"Probably not a big deal." Azzy says with a shrug.
Oh for the love of…
"… You're all insane."
"C'mon Kris! I'm sure what ever happened last week wasn't worth 'memberin'." Susie tries to reaffirm me.
"… (You just don't get it)."
Asriel gives me a certain look…
…
It's silent for a moment.
…
…
…
"Hmm…"
What could possibly be on your mind, oh brother of mine. He snaps his fingers.
"(I've got it!)" He walks off. "This way, children."
"… We're teenagers, not 'children'." I start walking with him. The others join not a moment later.
"Still kids!"
"Technically yes, Technically no."
"Wait, Asriel. You're older than us?" Why, of course, Susie.
"Yep! Last I checked, college is after… whatever grade y'all are in."
"Heh, you don't look it."
"… What's that supposed to mean?"
"She's calling you child. Younger than us."
"… You do realize I'm like, at least a foot taller than ala of you?"
"So?"
"Usually that would mean that person is older than you."
"Not always."
"I think Susie is just trying to assert her dominance."
"Wh- WHAT." She says with a blush. "Nuh uh!"
"Yuh huh."
Asriel eventually stops walking. Seems we have reached the destinatiôn, which is the riverside?
"Here, sit."
We all do.
…
…
"So… what are we doing here?" Susie be askin' the real questions.
"Just enjoying the view."
It is a nice view.
…
"… And…?"
"Nothing else."
"Pft… lame."
…
"I think it's a romantic spot…" Ah, Noelle, ever the hopeless romantic…
"See! Noelle gets it!"
…
…
I know why he brought us here.
He saw that I was upset, and decided to take me to a calming spot. And while this is calming, it doesn't help at all with the problem at hand…
…
Maybe I'm overthinking this. Maybe it really isn't that big a deal…
Maybe I should just let this one go…
…
Although…
"… Kris?"
"What."
…
…
"Wanna jump in?"
"No."
"C'mon!"
"Never again."
"C'mon!"
"You can if you want. Without me."
"C'mon!"
"Stop saying 'C'mon!'."
"C'mon!"
"Um… I uh… wouldn't recommend jumping into the river…" Thankfully, Noelle has some common sense.
"C- Oh, why not?"
"W- well… the river's… not very clean? Also there may be some aggressive animals in the water? A- and we wouldn't water to risk ending up in… an underwater monsters property?"
"So? Live a little! It would be fun!… also, do any monsters here live underwater?"
"Kiss!"
… Who?
We all look towards the river… and see a giant… onion? And… tentacles?
…
That's a big octopus monster.
…
…
…
"Nope." I'm outta here.
"Kris! W-wait up!" Susie outta here.
"I- I'm not in- into those videos." Noelle outta here.
"Ahh… yeah… (wait, you shouldn't be watching stuff like that)." Azzy outta here.
Welp, that answers that question at least.
After a long, confusing day… We said our goodbyes to Noelle and Susie. Now we're back home. And by this familiar scent… just in time too.
…
"M'ma! we're back!"
"Ah! Just in time!" Hey, that's what I said. "The pie is almost done cooling off."
"Sweet!"
"You two have fun today?"
"Yes!"
"…Something like that."
"That's wonderful."
…
…

Dinner time
(Inwards sigh) Today was actually rough. No matter how much I try to get my mind off it… It keeps coming back. Why did so many people forget the events of last week? What happened that all these people needed to forget? Why am I the only one wor-
No, Caroline was also peeved about it, at least from what Rudy told me… But still… So much seemed to happen last week; things that were a massive change. Like Susie and Is friendship, The absence of… them, Rudys recovery, that octo-thing that… knew my name? I'm sure that as time goes on, the list will only expand. But for now, I… need to figure out what happened. Not just the events of last week, but why it was erased from everyones memory.
…
But how?
I'm just a regular teenager now; no more help from my know-it-all 'friend'. Plus, no one else seems to really care… even those close to me, and I still have school next week.
…
Does it even matter?
…
Will I just… forget next week too?
…
I wish I would just… forget about forgetting…
…
Yeah… that would be nice…
…
…
You know, I'm starting to get sick of eating Butts Pie for dinner almost every day. A thought I thought I would never think…
…
"And then, this huge octopus monster showed up outta nowhere!"
"Th- that is very concerning…"
"Don't worry, M'ma! We all scampered away, right Kris?"
"… Did you also tell Mom about how you wanted me to jump in river? (Before the whole octopus thing.)"
…
…
…
"(Kris…)"
"ASRIEL DREEMURR!"
Beddy time.
I lie in bed on my front. Very comfortable, but not easy to breathe.
…
What if all my problems disappear when I wake up…
…
I can only wish.
"Haah… Man, I'm beat." He plops on his bed face first.
"M'too."
"Hey, M'ma was parading me around all day."
"And I was hunting you down all day."
"Pff, definitely not all day… you sleepyhead!"
"In my defense, I have no idea why I was so tired."
"Stay up to late last night?" He looks at me with a 'knowing' grin.
…
"Oh! Right…"
…
…
"Do you remember coming home yesterday?"
He sits up on his bed and stares at me.
"Hmm… Yes?"
…
…
"You shoulda mentioned that earlier…"
"Eh… Sorry?"
…
…
…
"I was a little late, traffic, y'know?"
"… Go on."
"Right… Um… It was… getting close to midnight, M'ma was… not so happy about that. Not like, upset at me, just… you know how she can be. But, you were like, dead asleep when I got here."
"… I definitely felt dead when I woke up…"
"Ah, so my sibling's a zombie now?"
"Always have been."
"Haha!"
…
…
…
"Kris…"
…
"This is really eating you up, huh?"
…
…
"… That thing could have made me do anything last week. And I would have no idea…"
"… Oh…"
… Yeah… Azzy is the the only person other than me that knows of my… 'partner'… I've tried to tell others, but…
They never believed me.
Azzy didn't believe me at first either but… he eventually came around.
"Kris…" Azzy came over to my bed and pats me on the head. "… Has It gotten worse since I've… been away?"
"… It was."
"… Was?"
"It's been gone since this morning."
"Kris! That- that's great!"
"Uh-huh."
…
…
"Look. Regardless of what happened last week, all that matters is that… you're better now, right?"
"But-"
"It doesn't matter."
"It d-"
"Shhh." He hugs me.
…
…
This is nice.
…
…
"I would still like to know how it happened…"
"Kris…"
"It- it might have changed something! Like… Our memories! It must want us to forget what happened to it, and whatever it did last week!"
"How about we just, move on and-"
"No."
"… Kris, C'mon."
"I'm gonna find out what happened."
"Just leave it."
"No.
…
…
"UGH… Fine. But I'm helping you."
"Good."
"… Only so you don't get yourself in trouble."
"Still good."
"… Do you even know where to start?"
"I have a few ideas."
"… You do?"
"Yes."
…
…
"You gonna elaborate?"
"Sans is definitely suspicious."
"Not gonna argue with that (He was wearing a banana costume! People in banana costumes are always suspicious)."
"He moved into town less than two weeks ago."
"Right before… last week…"
"Right before The Forgettening."
"… We are not calling it 'The Forgettening'."
"I am."
…
"Caroline is also apparently perplexed about The Forgettening."
"She did seem peeved about something when M'ma and I were seeing her (And stop calling it that)…"
"You know how she is. Of course she wants to make sure everything is in order. Forgetting a week likely has her annoyed."
"And how will that help us?
"She's the mayor, she's bound to be helpful."
"Anything else?"
…
…
"You."
"Wha- me?"
"Yes you. You arrived in town right after The Forgettening."
"… I guess you have a point there (also, STOP)…"
…
…
"And, of course, there's… them."
"… If they're gone, how will we… question them?"
"Dunno, but they're likely the cause of all this."
"Yeah…" His gaze shifts over to the cage at the foot of my bed.
That is where I would try to… separate myself from them. It somewhat worked too. You know, painfully ripping out a big red heart outta you're chest and locking it in a cage. Usual human activity right there. Wonder who came up with the idea?
"… Kris…?"
…
Azzy, Azzy did.
"Uh… what?"
"You didn't… y'know…"
An idea he immediately retracted.
…
Uh oh, busted.
"It wasn't that bad."
"Kris! You- you didn't- there was no telling what could have happened! You could have killed yourself…"
"Nah, I'm stronger than that."
"I'm serious Kris!"
"Look, I'm fine."
"You are not fine."
He got me ther.
"I… needed to try."
"… Was it worth it?"
"While it lasted, yeah."
"… I'm assuming… it got out?"
"No, I would start to feel weak after a little bit. Pretty sure I needed it to live or something."
"You… you did it more than once, didn't you…"
"Yes."
…
…
…
"I…"
…
"Goodnight, Kris." He goes back to his own bed, clearly upset.
"… Night (I'm sorry)."
At least we have a plan for tomorrow…
…
Somewhat…
Hello
This is the first piece of writing I've ever made (outside of school, of course).
So, if it seems a bit rough at spots, just know that this is something new I'm trying.
This was actually based off of a dream I had, and I just couldn't get it out of my head.
Now, that dream was much longer than this here chapter, so you can expect a lot more later!
I don't know when more will come, but it will.
Promise.
…
I'm not sure what else to say, so…
THANKS FOR READING
(It means a lot)
