Mokou lit the fire in her open hand, lightening the towering bamboo stalks around her. Not that it was necessary, though. Her surroundings were already bright enough with the campfire that she built illuminating in the small empty piece of land in front of her. It was merely out of habit.

She absent-mindedly stared towards the direction to the Human Village. Keine was already back at the village since afternoon, and so she was practically alone without anyone looking for her for the time being. She couldn't really see anything else though, other than the bamboo trees surrounding her as far as her eyes can see. As she breathed in and out, the fire in her hand slightly rose and fell subconsciously.

She had once wondered how her hand didn't suffer from the heat as much as others would, but she was forced to leave that train of thought when Kaguya suddenly lunged at her with knife in hand out of the blue.

Kaguya.

That Lunarian bastard.

She clenched her finger slightly as the fire grew intense for a brief moment. Looking back at it, she should've probably thrown a good few cannonballs of fire towards that arrogant prick, but she was taken completely by surprise that her instinct forced her to flee from her sight. Then again, Kaguya had followed it up with a relentless all out attack that successfully drove her out of her sight.

Considering they rarely ended their duels before one of them succumbs to a temporary death, she wondered how long it would take until Kaguya had found her; if she even bothered to waste any effort trying to find her at all, that is. She doubt she would – after all, it is her who has to be on the offensive side, it is her who holds the eternal grudge, it is her who suffers the most because of that bastard's selfish arrogance that knew no bound-

...

...

The terse hissing of extinguished fire.

A deep breath.

Another deep breath.

As her clenched hand shut the fire back down, she shifted in her seat only to realize that the campfire had already snuffed out. She clicked her tongue annoyedly at that, before standing back up to find some more bamboo stalks that could be used for another small fire.

A rather noisy commotion caught her ears, however, just as she stood up from her seat. She turned towards the direction of the noise, and as she closed in on the source, the sound of bullets hitting one another was beginning to become clearer for her.

Just as the final bullet sizzled away, only then she caught the sight of the perpetrator. She stood up from the stalks as she finally managed to get a clear view of the person in front of her. It was a girl in black and white clothing, along with a witch hat and a broom that reminded her of that night long ago, when she first met a certain witch and a few others before finding out that those Lunarians had set up a "trial of guts" specifically aimed to kill her.

Her eyes were fiery as she came to a halt, still sitting on her broom just a good distance away from where she was hiding. The girl was still on a battle mode, and from the looks of it, she didn't come to talk just yet as much as she came to throw bullets at any moving things in front of her.

Mokou opened her hand on her side, kindling the bright burning fire as she slowly moved out of her hiding place. Glancing towards the broken bamboo trees behind the person, she inwardly shook her head as she mumbled beneath her breath.

"This is going to be a very long night."
