Pokémon Brayden: FireRed Prologue
Author's Note: Hello, everyone! Thanks for looking into this story. Before we get started, I have a few things to explain. First off, have you ever dreamed you could travel to the world of Pokémon and be a Trainer? I'm sure you have. I'm also thinking most would want to live in the world of the Pokémon anime, which would definitely be awesome. But what if you entered the world of the Pokémon video games? That's precisely the story you see here. The hero of the story, Brayden, is largely based on myself, both in personality traits and the Pokemon he catches being almost exactly the same as the ones I've used. As a result, every installment of this series will be named after the game I played for that region. Second, this entire story is linked to one made by a friend of mine who as of this writing does not have an account of his own. That story is called Pokémon Collision, and I hope that someday you'll get a chance to read it. Brayden's involvement in that story doesn't come until much later on, though, so don't worry about missing plot details (with one very small exception, but I'll explain that when the time comes).
Wow, that was a long introduction. My apologies. Enjoy the story!
Chapter 1
In the small and quiet Pallet Town, young boys and girls who are ten years of age are given one of three Pokémon and a Pokédex from Professor Oak, the leading authority on Pokémon research. And today, the latest to take on the role of a Pokémon Trainer is a boy named Brayden Marchant.
"Finally! Today's the day I get to start traveling with Pokémon! Soon I'll catch the best ones I can find, get all the Gym Badges, take down the Elite Four, and become the Champion!"
Already dressed and ready to get going, he raced down the stairs and was almost to the door, but his mother stepped in between.
"You can't go to Professor Oak's lab without breakfast, young man," she said, calmly yet firmly.
"Come on, can't I eat after I get my Pokémon?" Brayden usually ate before going outside, but he had wanted his own Pokémon for so long that he couldn't help but prioritize that over breakfast. Yet immediately after he said that his stomach growled. He sighed. "All right. Food first, Pokémon later."
Now that his stomach was full, Brayden ran to the Pokémon Lab. As he stepped inside, however, he was greeted by Professor Oak's assistants, a man and a woman.
"You're Brayden, right?" the man asked him.
"Yes, that's me! Future Pokémon Champion!" He confidently grinned, with his right hand in a fist.
The other assistant looked at him apologetically."I'm sorry, but the Professor is away at the moment. He went to visit a fellow researcher in the next region over. He should be back soon."
Brayden felt a rush of anger and disappointment. "What? But I've waited my whole life for this day! Now you're telling me to wait even longer?"
"We're truly sorry, but there isn't anything we can do but wait. Please settle down," the first assistant said calmly.
"No way! I'm not just going to sit here and do nothing when I should be getting started on my journey! I'll go find him myself." And with that, he rushed out the door, ignoring the shouts of the scientists.
