I DO NOT OWN GAME OF THRONES OR SILENCE. SORRY IT HAS TAKEN ME SO LONG TO UPDATE. I WAS DEALING WITH LIFE AND WORK AND OTHER STORIES. SHOUTOUT TO ANYONE WHO STILL CARES ABOUT THIS STORY.
The entire group of thralls eventually gathered around the padres as they prepared for the first part of their mission. Father Garupe and Father Rodrigues had been preparing to spread the word of Christ for many years, but now that the opportunity to proselytize was laid before them, they would be lying if they said that they weren't a bit nervous about missionizing to these thralls. After taking a deep breath and grabbing his Bible, Garupe decided to go first and try his luck.
"We have been sent by the Lord, ruler of Heaven and Earth to tell you of his son: Jesus Christ." Francisco spoke as the thralls were perplexed.
"Your God has a son?" Daaraquo inquired quizzically.
"We are all God's children, but Jesus is the only begotten son of God, begotten not made." The dark haired padre replied.
"The Lord visited a young woman named Mary, a virgin, and the Holy ghost filled her and she gave birth to a son: Jesus." Sebastian explained further.
"A virgin giving birth, that's impossible!" One of the thralls shouted as others agreed.
"Nothing is impossible with God." The brown haired padre pointed out as he joined his companion before the thralls. "The Virgin Mary gave birth to the son of God to save us all."
"Sin is the most dangerous enemy to the human race. Not tyrants, nor natural disasters, nor illness. For while all of those things kill the body; which is a temporary thing, sin kills the soul; which is eternal." Garupe continued as the thralls kept listening with rapt attention. "That is why our God sent Jesus to Earth, Jesus is the Christ, our messiah. He was sent to save mankind from sin, death, and the devil."
"Devil, who is this devil?" Another thrall inquired with curiosity.
"The devil, his name is Satan, was once an Angel who served the Lord, but his greed and his lust for power led him to rebel against God and to be cast down from the kingdom of Heaven. Satan took revenge by convincing Adam and Eve: the first man and woman on Earth to sin against God." Rodriques answered as he spoke with a solemn look as he discussed the supreme evil being dedicated to the corruption and destruction of man.
"The wages of sin is death, but that is why God sent his only begotten son to live as a man among men. Jesus was crucified on the cross to endure the penalty of sin so that we would not have to." Father Garupe continued.
"Wait, so Jesus is dead?" Nakillos asked as he failed to see the merit in worshipping a corpse; son of God or not.
"No brothers, After 3 days, Jesus rose from the dead. He was raised from the grave to show Christ's ultimate victory over death." Father Rodrigues explained with joy as he looked over the thralls. "Our lord Jesus allowed himself to be slain upon the cross to take our punishment so that he may be forgiven of all our sins and achieve Eternal life in Heaven. Jesus offers salvation from sin, from death, and from the devil. He wants you all to know that he loves you, he wants so desperately to save you."
"But there is a catch: Christ can not force this gift upon you. You must accept for yourselves and attain glory in Heaven through faith." Garupe insisted as the thralls spoke amongst themselves. The padres could not hear what was being said, but could only hope that their mission was not destined to end in failure.
"What about thralls, will this Jesus allow thralls and slaves to have eternal life?" Daaraquo asked anxiously, earning a smile from the priests.
"Yes, Jesus came to save all: the master and the slaves. He is messiah to all who believe in him. You can find freedom on his love." Father Rodriques insisted as Father Garupe opened up his Bible. All of the thralls eyes and ears perked up when the padre mentioned the magical word freedom.
"We are told in the book of Galatians, chapter 5, verse 1: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Garupe read aloud as he could see the hearts of those thralls filling with hope. In their minds, anyone who was offering them freedom from involuntary servitude at the hands of the iron born was worth giving a try.
"I want to believe in Jesus and to be saved." Daaraquo insisted as he stood up and stood before the priests.
"Then you must be baptized." Francisco said as he took Daaraquo and led him into the tide.
"Daaraquo Dirros, do you renounce Satan? And all his works? And all his empty promises?" Garupe asked.
"Yes." The thrall answered.
"Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth?" Francisco inquired.
"Yes." Daaraquo declared before all present.
"Do you believe in Jesus Christ?"
"Yes."
"Do you believe in the Holy Ghost?"
"Yes." Garupe then took Daaraquo and dunked him into the water for a moment before bringing him back up.
"Daaraquo Dirros, I baptize you in the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost." Garupe said with a smile as Daaraquo smiled as well. This thrall from Essos was to be the first Westerosi Christian.
"I will never be a thrall again, I will serve only Jesus! Come brothers, accept Jesus and be free." He exclaimed as the other thralls came forward to be baptized. As Garupe and Rodriques baptized all the thralls, making them Christians, they were comforted, knowing that they were doing God's work.
