Sometimes before the merge of realities began. In the Gotham City Hospital, a man with raven hair and blue eyes, somewhat in his 40s, was still paralyzed in the hospital since the night of the previous performance that cost him his family, and his movement. What's event worse than having been paralyzed by the fall from a trapeze performance, it was the loss of his family.
"Sorry about this, Uncle Rick. I have to go. I'll tell you more later." Said Dick as he left his uncle's bedside to meet with his teammates. Outside the room, he met Wally.
"Hey, man. How's your uncle doing?" Asked his best friend, Wally was the only one who knew of Dick's past and entrusted with this secret.
"Still no changes, but he is doing fine." Dick said as the two teen boys were on their way to Mt. Justice.
Richard "Rick" Grayson, whose wife, son, brother and sister-in-law had died from the impact of the fall. He wished it could've been him who got killed and not his family. His surviving relative was his nephew, Dick. But due to his state, he cannot take guardianship over him. Thankfully billionaire Bruce Wayne had taken him as a ward.
But if there was one thing Rick regrets was not noticing the signs of danger that caused him to lose the rest of his family.
"Mr. Grayson," a nurse spoke. "You have a visitor. Someone named...Dr. Merlot? That's a strange name. But nevermind. Mr. Merlot, you may enter." Said the nurse. A strange old man with a cybernetic eye and a lab coat had come in. Something Rick feels about that man did not feel right.
"I would like to speak to him, alone." Said "Dr. Merlot." The nurse nodded and left. Rick eyed on him suspiciously. Whatever he proposition he was giving, it was anything but good.
"Ahem. Mr. Grayson. You may not know me, but I know you. You have my condolences of your loss. Such a shame that a crook had taken the lives of your family. And that you might not be able to move again. But I can help make it better." Dr. Merlot stated.
"I heard you were an amazing acrobat prior to this tragedy. But maybe with your skills, you can help test my exo-suit." Dr. Merlot takes out a blueprint provided by LexCorp. "I know what you're thinking that this is a dangerous task. But with your help, we can wipe out the scum of the Earth with this." He showed the former acrobat the exo-suit blueprint.
"If you do this now, I can help you move again. But far faster and stronger. Do we have a deal? Blink once for yes." Dr. Merlot asked as he tried to coax Rick into another false promise. Rick thought he had to do something he was going to regret. In the hopes that what happened to his family can never happen again. He blinked. "So it's a deal then."
"Ready?!" The referee raised his hand as Yang and Conner were taking their own fighting stances like the showdowns in the Wild West. Yang's fist crunches as she clenched it. Conner's eyes narrowed as he eyed on the muscular girl before him. Something in his eyes tells him that she is a formidable opponent.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Conner glared at her.
"Oh, you know me, I'm just a party girl looking for thrills." Yang taunted with a chuckle. Conner isn't laughing.
"Fight!" Their fists collided as they dashed forward. Their teeth gritted at the sight of each other's strengths. Conner makes a hook on Yang before Yang ducks down as she jabs at Conner.
But Conner parried before using his fist to fight back. For some reason, Conner didn't dodge much. Yang cartwheels and makes a lean kick.
Conner then makes the uppercut. But Yang then grabs his arm and threw him near the crowd. Yang was about to make the blow on his back, but Conner rolls to dodge her. And with her strength, Yang creates a crater on the stage.
Shocking him and the crowd. To see her that powerful.
"Wow, what can I say. You really need to get a life, big guy." Yang taunted as she twirled her hair and wiped a trickle of blood off her lip. She would've been taken aback, but she is too cheerful to even think about the injuries. Which confuses Conner.
"Oh that's great, kick ass!" One of the audiences shouted. One half of the crowd was cheering for the defending champion (Conner), while the other half is shouting for the opponent (Yang) to beat him.
Everyone else is making bets to see who wins the fight. Throwing their money to the hat by one of the enthusiasts.
Conner then dashed forward and performed more jabs at Yang. But Yang caught his wrist before his fist hits her, and swung him over her shoulder.
Conner rolled on the ground after a near defeat. But then the voices in his head began to run a line. Memories he did not remember.
"I am Superboy, a genetic clone."
"I chose freedom."
"You want escape?!"
"You're not a real boy, you're a weapon!"
Hearing some of the revelations. It angered Superboy as he felt it rushing in his veins. The crowd cheering for Yang's name. But Yang wasn't paying attention to them as she was still waiting to see if Conner is still awake.
"Um, buddy. You don't look so good. You okay?" Yang commented.
But Conner wasn't listening as he hears insult to injury of the past.
"I'll put you back in pods before morning!"
"Weakling carbon copy!"
"He's psychotic."
At that moment, Conner snapped and charged at Yang and delivered a blow at her. Sending her crashing through the wall. Yang got up despite the pain from the blow. As she emerged from the rubble from the wall.
"Okay, it's on now!" Yang shouted a she turned her eyes red and her hair glowed brought as the sun. But much like the solar flames. Yang then dashed at Conner to make a punch.
But Conner only blocks it with his one palm. But Yang shifts back and goes at him again. But this time she attacked from the back at speed. Conner stumbled briefly, only to get back up and rolled from her attack again.
Conner jabs at Yang again, and this time he blocks her high kick and smacks her away from himself. Only for Yang to use her own feet to break her fall.
The more both fighters deliver blows to each other, the more Conner and Yang grew tired as they were equally matched in strength. The last thing they both did was punching each other at fast speed.
"Argh!"
"Ahh!"
They both screamed as they tried to see who will win the match. But once both of them stopped. They both slowly punched each other and wobbled a bit as they were exhausted. The stadium is in ruins.
"Give up?" Yang panted, as she winced at the pain of her shoulder. Conner hissed of his leg being hurt. "Not...yet...ugh." He sighs. They both fell to the floor.
After the match was concluded a tie, Conner is in the basement after tending his wounds in the abandoned med room. Yang was waiting outside to talk to him.
"Dude, that was out of control!" Yang said to him in excitement. She walked towards Conner and placed her arm around his shoulder. "We should do this again some time!"
"Not in a million years." Conner remarked. But Yang just laughed. "Come on, where's the "punch" in that?!" She joked. But Conner wasn't into puns. "It's not funny."
"Pfft. Fine, Party Pooper." Yang muttered as she then shifted in front of him. "Sorry, bud. But you're coming with me." Yang said, Conner raised an eyebrow in response.
"What?" Then out of nowhere, the walls exploded. Conner felt his ears ringing as he tried to look up and identify the cause of the explosion. Was it a man? A man in a black and white wrestler's spandex, he also has pipes attacked to his head and spine that indicated the injection of substances.
"I've found you, Niños." Conner was shocked to see one of the enemies all familiar. "Bane." He recalled the name. "Who now?" Asked Yang asked.
"I will have to thank Dragon Chicá for tracking him down for me. Now I will have to bring the weapon back to Cadmus." Bane explained.
"Wait, that was you?! You were the client?!" Yang said.
"Bounty Hunter?" Conner asked.
"Pretty much." Replied Yang. But because there might be some intention behind the bounty Yang was hired for. Something tells her she cannot hand Conner to him. Then a piece of a ceiling was about to fall over Yang's head.
"Look out!" Conner ran to her side and lifts the rubble before it hits her.
Yang was amazed to see Conner having this much strength. Conner was shocked at himself for lifting the rubble this heavy. "Did I do this just now?" Yang nodded. Conner threw the rubble away and faces Bane.
"Oh, it's on now, Bane, whatever your name is!" Yang shouted as her hair glowed again. And her eyes turned from lilac to red. Even with his own super strength, Conner can tell how terrifying she can be compared to his own anger.
Yang slammed her first over Bane's head, but he grabbed it and threw her to the floor. But she wasn't giving up that easily.
Conner ran up to him next to blow his fist on his back. But to no avail as Bane turns and punched him before anything can happen. Before Bane can finish Conner off, Yang came to his aid and slammed her ankle on his shoulder.
Conner recovered and rolled out of the way. "Two against one?!" Asked Conner.
"Sounds good to me!" Yang said slamming her fist into her palm.
"He was injected with Cobra Venom, take the pipeline off his back to render him down." Conner pointed out at the pipe attached to Bane's back. Yang nods. Bane recovered from his distortion, and looked at the two brawlers.
"If it's a fight you want, Niños, then it's a fight you will get." Bane takes out a vial of green substance that Yang seemed to have recognized. "Wait, that serum..." Yang muttered.
"What?" Blinked Conner. But before Yang can explain, Bane injected the serum on his arm, as hard as the bones that won't break. Conner went wide eyed to see what Bane has done.
Bane then feels the shiver in his arm as he grunted in pain and fell to his knees. The luchador began to hyperventilate as sweat runs down his neck. Gasping for relief, his eyes glow green. Then green spikes grew on his back and he roared like the lion trying to claim his prize.
Meanwhile, back in the Circus train, Sun, Dick and Zatanna were sitting in the same cart while hearing stories of Sun of how Remnant looks like and why huntsmen existed.
"And now you know why huntsmen and huntresses came to existence." Sun finished.
"Okay, call me crazy. But this is the coolest tale I've ever heard." Dick said, smiling.
"Definitely not hard to believe." Zatanna said.
"So after we meet with Walls. What do we do?" Asked Dick.
"Since we're heading to New Orleans, we will have to meet with Madame Xanadu." Suggested Zatanna.
"The fortune teller in New Orleans?" Dick asked. From what he hears about Madame Xanadu, from what he heard after visiting there, Madame Xanadu is a con-artist that tells false fortunes and uses special effects to appear to be communicating the spirits.
At least that's what he heard, not sure to believe it or not. "I know what you're thinking. But rest assured, Madame Xanadu can use magic for real." Zatanna assured. Dick was surprised that she knew what he was thinking. Not mind reading, but rather reading the face of uncertainty.
"O...kay." Dick replied. Then he felt a headache, memories of when he was in the mindscape with his team during a mind training exercise. It was horrible, even if it was just illusions. How many of his teammates had fallen. He wanted this to be a nightmare, but it became too much.
Dick fell on one of the seats. He ran his hand on his head, causing Zatanna and Sun to turn to him. "Dude, you alright?" Sun asked. Dick shook his head to wake up back to reality.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Dick lied. Zatanna knew he was still haunted by the visions from their previous reality. "Don't worry, what you're just experiencing are flashbacks from the previous reality. Sorry I have to use the spell to..."
"Don't worry. I think I just need get some air." Dick then stood up and left the cart to get fresh air to process. Once he knows he is alone in another cart, Dick sighs. He felt like a coward for thinking of the failures he had to endure. "What am I even doing?"
Sun and Zatanna looked as he left. "I don't think he's okay." Sun deduced. Zatanna nodded in agreement. "That's what I thought. Even I thought everything is a nightmare until I saw those visions too."
"How come you already realized it?" Sun asked.
"For starters, it began when I woke up in my old apartment in New York City. First it was my dad, who I was living with. But to my own surprise, my mom is also there." Zatanna explains.
"What? You sounded as if your mom has come back? Why would..."
Zatanna looks at Sun, saying nothing, then hung her head down. Sun finally realized what was going on. "Wait, you mean your mom...oh God." Sun grasped his head trying to process.
"Yeah, I didn't remember anything. Until my memories came back and I realized that my mom wasn't supposed to be here either." Zatanna finished. Dick came back as he felt a bit better.
"Yeah, that's what we thought when I saw my parents again too. They weren't supposed to be here." Dick adds.
"Wow, either we're dreaming, or we're dead." Sun shook his head. They stood silent, neither of thought about what to say.
"One more thing I forgot to mention." Sun adds. The other two turned to him. Sun takes out a vial of green, glowing serum.
"What is that?" Dick asked as he takes the serum to take a look.
"Don't open it, it's highly dangerous." Sun warns.
"Dude, relax. Being a protege to the vigilante, detective. You'd be used to seeing this all the time." Dick assured. He peers at the serum closely as it was glowing.
"Wow, those kinds of fluid like this, it can seem to increase strength and even changing the somatic cells in a raging level. A mutation serum." Dick said, deducing the effects of the vial. "Where did you get it?" He asked.
"If I remember correctly, before the worlds changed." Sun recaps on the events prior to the merge.
-Merlot Island-
Jaune stabbed the head of the mutated Deathstalker, while his team JNPR, Teams RWBY and SSSN were finished holding off on the robots and the Grimm trying to hold them back from reaching Merlot.
"Attention, students. Due to the circumstances in the island. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take leave from this world. Goodbye Forever.
"He's getting away!" Ruby shouted.
"No he's not! You guys go before the lab explodes!" Sun shouted as he ran after the head control room to find Merlot.
"Sun, no!" Ruby shouted as she followed him. "Wait up!" Jaune ran after them as well.
As they entered the main control room, they were shocked to witness a machine that activated the portal, connected to the lavender-colored crystal that vibrates. And standing in front of it was Dr. Merlot.
"Merlot!" Ruby shouted. Aiming her sniper at the mad scientist.
Merlot calmly turned to the three team leaders as he laughed maniacally. "You're too late! Reality will be rewritten to another!" The three hunters-to-be charged at the machine to destroy it before it functions completely. But they were blown away by a blast. It belonged to what appeared to be a teenage girl around Ruby's age. Wearing a green, scaly jumpsuit, brown hair and dark hood. White, blank eyes. With a crescent moon shape tiara.
"Huh?! Who are you?!" Jaune said. But before they can make a stance, they were blown again to the wall. And the sorceress trapped them in bounds of light. "Hey!" Sun shouted.
Merlot turned to the sorceress. "Enchantress, you may began."
Enchantress chanted a spell. "Morf eno ytilaer ot rehtona. Tel meht egrem sa eno, dna tel emit eb rental! Morf eno ytilaer ot rehtona. Tel meth egrem sa eno, dna tel emit eb rental! Morf eno ytilaer ot rehtona. Tel meht egrem sa eno, dna tel emit eb rental!"
"Guys, we have to do something!" Ruby struggled to get the magical restraints off. Jaune and Sun tried to do the same.
"Morf eno ytilaer ot rehtona. Tel meht egrem sa eno, dna tel emit eb rental!"
The Enchantress finished the spell as reality become white and bleak. The bright light over shines them as Ruby, Jaune and Sun closed their eyes, as of the world is about to end.
