The room was silent, the gun in his hand felt so heavy. A horrible metallic smell permeated everything and he didn't want to turn around. Rocket knew what he'd see if he did. If he looked behind him it'd become real, his family would be gone, like lylla. He wasn't sure what to actually do now, especially by hims-
"Rocket, Floor, go now." a voice spoke up behind him, quiet, strained. A weight that was pressing in on him seemed to lighten, just barely as he turned around. Rocket's eyes caught sight of Teefs and his heart broke again. There wasn't anything he could do for Teefs, but Floor. The rabbit was low to the floor, one of her cybernetic spider legs sheared off, pure terror evident in her eyes, but she looked alright otherwise. Rocket, Floor, go now. Please." She pleaded with him.
"Right yeah," Rocket took a closer look at Floor's damaged robot leg. "I don't think you'll be able to keep up with that, can you wrap yourself around me? I'll carry you." Floor nodded quietly, scrambling onto Rocket's legs locking together securing her in place. "Hold tight ok." Rocket said giving Floor a tug to make sure she was secure, he picked up the Key he had built, and then took off running, completely ignoring the writhing High Evolutionary. He'd have loved nothing more than to continue tearing at that bastard's face, but he had to protect Floor, she was all he had left.
It had been a close thing, but they had managed to get to the hangar before any of the High Evloutionary's men, they likely wouldn't be far behind but He had a moment to breathe. He glanced around the hanger looking for the best possible ship, or at least the closest. Which happened to be a large four winged birdlike ship that had its back hatch seemingly left open. He had just started to walk up it when he heard the shouting of the guards on their way, and seemingly a lot of them if the cacophony was any indication.
Rocket scrambled up the walkway through the hatch on all fours, shutting it closed as he passed and unhooking himself from Floor and leaving her in what seemed like a cargo hold, as he ran the length of the ship to the cockpit. He could hear gunfire impacting off the side as he set about activating the ship, the ship started up smoothly and before he knew it they had flown out of the hangar and jumped out of the system.
They jumped several more times before he felt comfortable just leaving them floating in the inky void. He slipped out of the seat and rushed back to check on Floor. Floor had curled in on herself in a corner of the cargo hold, she looked up when he entered the room, and she tried to get up. She stumbled with her damaged leg but managed to catch herself and adjust to being down a leg. "Rocket, ok?"
He very much wasn't and he wanted to tell her as much but he couldn't find the words. Instead he drew close and embraced Floor, held her like he thought she might disappear too if he let go. They stayed like that, for what felt like hours, before Rocket forced himself to let go. He began to thoroughly search the ship's cargo hold, they seemed to have gotten lucky, the first crate he popped open was full of mechanical parts.
"Floor, can you show me your leg?" Rocket squeaked out, voice cracking, as he grabbed a handful of the parts that looked like they might be useful..
"Rocket, fix leg?" Floor splayed out her damaged leg without hesitation, despite what had happened she still trusted him completely and that fact buoyed his heart.
"Certainly think I can, fluff." Rocket said. He was actually more certain that he could than he let on, he'd known he was likely to be the one who needed to fix everyone's cybernetics and thus spent as long as he could studying them, Floor's being the easiest to study having shared a cell with her. He started to examine the damage, it honestly wasn't that bad, he'd have to cobble something together but a permanent fix wasn't out of the question.
"Yeah I can fix this." Rocket said as he jury-rigged several of the parts together, disconnected a part of the damaged leg and slotted the new part in its place. "That should do it." Rocket said, guiding Floor to a room that he had passed on his way to the bridge earlier, a bed against one wall. "You get some sleep and I'll…..figure out where we're going." Floor looked like she wanted to argue the point as Rocket gently forced her onto the bed, but instead she slumped down onto the soft blue blanket that covered the bed closing her eyes.
Rocket patted Floor on the head and slowly made his way back to the ship's bridge. He slid back into the captain's chair, reactivated the ship, and silently broke down.
