A young man sat down in front of a television screen displaying the news with an image of a VR headset on the top right corner. The news anchor was talking about the latest VR game, World Apocalypse Online, said to be a futuristic game created by the number one gaming company in the world, Dominion. From the little details released by the company, the game will feature a lot of elements from popular movies and games with different realms while also adding new features like never before.
Players will be eligible to four main races that will be chosen randomly by the system, which are elf, demon, human and Demi humans. The game will also features classes like swordman, mage, paladin, assassin and the likes, allowing players to chose according to their desires. There are also jobs and occupation for players whether they want to establish they own work / business or work under an organization or kingdom.
In society now were game had become the norm where gamers were more popular than celebrity the game was an instant sale all around the world. I glance at the VR headset beside me. I had to sleep at the entrance of the store overnight just to spend all my month salary on this one headset.
It was my first time playing a game I usually don't pay attention to games but I only knew about it due to everyone talking about it advertising. If it wasn't for my colleague forcing me to go with him to go to the game store and forcing me to get one as but the game I wouldn't have bothered.
Almost all stores sold the VR headset even the cheapest store managed to get a dozen or so VR headset. The company made it so cheap that everyone could afford it. Well I guess all the advertisement would have been a waste if the everybody couldn't afford it.
There was a close beta testing a few months back with a lot of people applying for it, even I applied for it but only 30 people from around the world were chosen and half of them were top players.
Once the news deviated from the game I switched off my tv and walk to my bathroom. I glance at my image in the bathroom mirror. A shoulder length black hair man stared back at me with black eyes as deep as the abyss. An angular face and athletic build.
Although I am 24 years old, I still look like a teenager. After graduating from the university 2 years ago, I moved out of my parents house to live alone in a studio apartment across town.
I work at a small cafe three streets away. I only need to go to work on weekends and the payment is okay. Although I have been working there for a year now, I can't say that I made any friends there, they were at most, work colleagues.
I walk back to my sitting room after cleaning up. I held the VR in front of my face and observed the wiring and design of the VR headset which is a black and gold color for a while before putting it on.
Everything was black for a few seconds before I regain my vision. I glance around the room that looks like it was made out of clouds, leaving me awestruck.
"So beautiful" The game was as realistic as they said It was.
"Welcome to The World Apocalypse" A beautiful angelic voice snapped him out of his trance.
He look up to see a beautiful angel with golden locks garbed in white with a pair of pure white wings and a holy glow smiling down on me.
Leon was stunned by her beauty. No mortal could ever look this beautiful, no matter what. It's simply too heaven defying.
"Welcome, mortal. I am mariah, may I know your name?" That beautiful smile was enough to keep him captivated for a few second before he manage to answer.
"Leon"
"Very well."
A full body mirror appeared in front of him display his character that looks exactly like him.
"Would you like to change anything?"
Hmm.
After thinking for a while he decided to change his eye color to red, and his hair white with a fade on both side, leaving everything else as it is since people can't customize their body too much in the game. Just their height and weight.
"Am done"
Mariah waved her hand and a portal appeared in front of him.
"This portal shall lead you to your path of destiny"
She smile at him lovingly like a caring mother.
"Okay"
He slowly walk into the portal. The game developers already said that their species shall be decided randomly after entering the game.
What he saw when he walked out of the portal though was a whole lot different from what he expected.
The sky was a blood red color, unlike earth, the red moon hung high up in the sky. A dark castle stood high up into the sky in the distance in the middle of the town. The atmosphere was dark and gloomy with demon kinds wandering the streets.
Most of them had pink skin and horn while others look more human with horns and others without horn but their black sclera and red Iris gave them away. Their forms varies and we're different from each other.
Leon glance at himself and noticed that he was among those demons that look human but without horn.
"Where am I?" He appeared in a large town square in a cloud of players looking lost.
'How do I know where I am?. Is there a map or something?' As he thought about a map pop up displaying his current location.
'Rogue town?. Does the same thing work for my status'.
Immediately he thought of it a status window appear in front of him.

'I guess that works'
"So my race is a demon, huh? That seems pretty obvious. Must be why my stat is so high, since demons are know to have a body stronger than other races." Although he was not too experience with gaming, he made sure to research everything related to gaming after buying the VR headset to familiarize himself with how most games functions work.
"Though what exactly does absolute comprehension mean? and how do I use this skills?" Before he could think much, his train thought was eventually shattered by voices around him
"Woah this game is so realistic".
"I can actually feel the wind against my body"
"WHO THE FUCK JUST PINCHED MY BUTT?!"
"Why does it feel like the atmosphere hereis mourning?".
"You must have had a shitty life if that was the first thing you noticed."
"Hey where are we?"
"It says demon realm on the map"
"Wait? Does that mean am a demon?"
"Didn't you check your status window?"
"That explains why my skin is pink"
"What the hell?"
"Awesome"
"I don't want to be a demon, I want to be an elf!"
"Am I the only one with an horn?"
The players all around him were like birds, endlessly chirping away. Some where complaining while others were happy, others indifferent. He ignored them and walk up to an old man with horn.
According to what he read on the internet, you can get missions by talking to NPC.
"Excuse me sir, do you need any assistance?"
The old man look at hm and smile. "Why, yes, my son. I happen to be in need of certain flower, there grows deep in the forest outside the town. Can you help me?"
[Mission: Urgent Helper]
Mission Description: The old man is making a medicine and is missing the final ingredient, a BloodMoon Flower. One of the most common herbs ingredient in the demon world.
Objective: Gather 20 BloodMoon Flower.
Reward: 5 coppers
Option: Accept/Reject.
Leon smiled immediately he saw the notification. Speaking to the NPC is one of the most easiest way to get free missions.
"Fear not, sir, I'll be back before you know it"
"Thank you very much, young man"
[Notification: You have accepted the mission, Urgent Helper]
He wasted no time in running out of the town to complete his mission. There are other players who are also talking to NPCs and receiving missions.
Leon walk out of the town gate heading into the forest in search of the bloodmoon flower . Some players were already in the forest forming groups and hunting monsters trying to raise their levels quickly.
He search around the forest for the bloodmoon flower with the aid of the identification skill. After a few minutes of searching he finally the bloodmoon flower growing near a river of blood giving off a dim red glow.
"Now I understand why the call it the bloodmoon flower?"
After retrieving the flowers, he quicklyreturned back to the town to meet the old man.
"You are back so soon?"
Leon nodded. "Yes senior, and I brought this" He retrieve the bloodmoon flower from his inventory and handed it to the old man.
The old man's eyes lit up at the sight of him. "You got it! Thank you a lot young man!"
"You are welcome"
[Notification: You have completed the mission: Bloodmoon flower]
[You have been awarded 5 coppers]
Leon smiled when the coins appeared in his inventory. "Thanks you senior."
Immediately receiving his payment he went about talking to NPC and completing missions.
He checked his inventory after a whole day of doing mission, all his coins added up to 50 copper.
"That should be more than enough". He made his way towards a certain location.
'From what he gathered, the town training Hall is where you can go to choose class.'
There was a long queue of players at the training Hall all seeking a class change when he arrived there. After waiting for some time it was finally his turn.
"Welcome young man, what class will you like to choose?" The middle age man with the signature horn and red eyes and black sclera of a demon, asked.
Well others might have a hard time picking a class he had already decided on one long ago. The best part of the game is that you can still use magic and weapon no matter the class you choose.
"I'd like to be a swordsman"
"A wise choice. Place your on the orb" He gestured to the red magic orb in the middle of the training Hall.
Leon did as instructed and a red light envelope his body before dimming after a few seconds followed by a notification.

"Finally" After leaving the training Hall, he madivoe his way to the market square.
"Hey!" In front of him a group of young demons beating were up a player after stripping him of his properties.
Leon sighed as he made his way to a sword shop, not caring about the player being beaten. The strong will always feed on the weak. That word even held more meaning in the demon society.
The door bell to the shop jingle as the door open alerting the inhabitants.
"Welcome sir"
A young lady stood behind the counter with a beautiful smile on her face.
"Hello I'd like to buy a sword"
"Right this way" She lead him to a wall displaying swords of different sizes and shapes.
"All the swords here cost 10 silver. Which one would you like?"
'10 silver? That's more than what I have. Are things really this expensive in the demon world?'. He look at her smiling face and chuckled nervously.
"Um, is there anything I can afford with 40 copper?"
"Oh sure" The lady didn't seem to mind that he could afford any of the swords on display. She pointed at a barrel filled with swords and said.
"Every sword there cost 30 copper, pick your choice"
"Thank you" He nodded and walk up to the barrel. The swords look old and rusty, there were even some that looked like there were abandoned Midway through production.
Leon rummaged through the swords searching for a while before finding the one he like.

He walk to the counter and said. "I'll like to take this one"
The lady nodded after observing the sword. "That will be 30 copper"
"Okay" Leon nodded and paid the money, leaving him with a little less than 10 copper since he also had to pay 10 copper for the class change.
After leaving the store he made his way to the forest to fight monsters and raise his level.

'That's quite powerful for a level 1 monster. Is everything out to get you?' Leon look at black scorpion the size of a grown adult standing a few feet in front of him.
He gripped his sword and give it a few light swing to get accustomed to it weight. Although it's been a while since he last used a sword, he had once been taught how to use a sword by his late grandfather.
The scorpion however thought it was being mocked and charged at him.
Leon swing this readied himself. The scorpion got close to him and attack him with it stinger which he managed to dodge by sidestepping. He swing down his blade cutting off the tail before it could react.
The scorpion screeched in pain but it didn't back down instead it dived at him, hoping to finish him in one bite.
Leon rolled out of the way avoiding the deadly attack. He didn't let the scorpion retreat and quickly finished it off in two strikes.
Thanks to his sword having a damage Output of 50, it made it easier for him to finish off the scorpion in three strikes.
Although it was impressive he was still lacking behind other players since the average players were already level 5 by now.

Although he was still behind the player base he didn't mind since he was playing for fun. the reason why he spent most of his time grinding missions was so that he could at least get a better understanding of the game since he was still new to gaming.
He Savage through scorpion drops which were just 4 coppers and a pair of trash tier boots. He toss them both in his inventory and prepared to move on when suddenly a notification appeared in the sky.
[System Notification World Wide: Player fallen snow has become the first person to reach level 10]
[System Notification World Wide: Level Ranking has been unlocked]
The system Notification send the world into an uproar since it hasn't even been a day since the game started and someone had already reached level 10.
Leon was also surprised. He had heard about this too players before but this was his experiencing their unbelievable gaming ability.
'Are we even playing the same game?'
"Though I can't help but wonder what race she is in the game for her to level up so fast"
He sighed.
"There's no point thinking about it. We live in two different worlds." Forgoing his thoughts he continued hunting monsters for a few more until he reached level 5 before logging out.
His body felt stiff immediately he left the game since he had been in the same position for hours. It was already late when he logged out so he decided to check out the forums.
And just as he expected, the forum was a mess. People were busy discussing about the system Notification and how fast it took for fallen snow to reach level 10.
A lot of people were expressing themselves on the forum. There were even posts with outrageous titles.
After browsing the forum for an hour, he freshen up and got into bed. His thoughts kept on wandering. The notification today clear showed the capacity of a professional player. While he was playing for fun, others played like their lives depended on it.
'I wonder what it's like being a professional player. All those fame, wealth, always being in the spot light'
'If only I could be like that'
