Chapter 6
Rose took a breath letting it out slowly. "Never thought that I would be here again." She said softly looking around.
"Well, we made it here, now we have to find Jack."
Rose took a breath stretching her back out. "It won't take much to find him. He's probably around the bar… probably getting into a fight…"
"You've seen how he acted around here?"
"Enough to last me a lifetime." Rose said, shuddering at the thought of what she had seen while here. She honestly never thought that she would be back here again to see this port again and the horrors that she would have to live through again. Rose turned her head towards the bar hearing glass shattering. "Well sounds like a fight."
Elizabeth nodded her head and followed her sister finding out that yes indeed there was a brawl happening outside of the bar.
Rose took a breath as she watched a man cutting, slashing around giving ground to the pillar. Rotating around the pillar and only to have pirates back away. Rose raised her brow seeing her sister fighting alongside the man.
The man tried to attack only to trip and was pinned down by two sailors.
A third sailor pulled out a knife.
Rose groaned, bringing herself into the fight. She knocked the knife away from hitting the man. She shook her head at the Sailor who narrowed their eyes at her.
"Come on then, you buggers, do you want some? British steel? You, you, you, you, you, you?"
Rose turned her head hearing a smash of a bottle over the man's head. Rose let out a breath.
"I just wanted the pleasure of doing that myself. Now let's toss this scoundrel out of here and have a drink."
Rose watched the crowd cheer happily and toss the man out. Rose slowly walked out with tears in her eyes. She heard the man's voice. He wasn't dead after all. He left her alone to think all those months that he was dead and gone. It hurt her to know that the world was such a cruel place to almost anyone. She kneeled down next to him. "James Norrington, what has the world done to you?" She asked softly.
"Nothing I didn't deserve." He said, trying to stagger up to his feet only to collapse.
Rose helped him up to his feet staggering under his weight a little bit.
James looked at Rose with blurred eyes. "Rose…"
"I'm here James…" She said softly to him not letting her hold him. She couldn't bring herself to release the man that she would have called her husband. She led him slowly across the deck.
"Load the cargo! All of it, we sail with the tide!" Gibbs shouted to the crew.
Elizabeth stepped into Jack's path. "Captain Sparrow."
Rose removed her hand from James' arm moving forward.
"Come to join my crew, lad? Well enough, welcome aboard." Jack said with a smile.
"I'm coming too." Rose stated moving next to her sister.
"I've come to find the man I love." Elizabeth said moving forward as well.
Jack stopped short looking at the two of them. "I'm deeply flattered, son, but my first and only love is the sea."
"Meaning William Turner, Captain Sparrow." Rose said, crossing her arms, narrowing her eyes slightly at Jack.
He peered closer at the two of them. "Elizabeth? Rose?" He looked at Gibbs. "Hide the rum." He turned his attention back to the sisters. "You know, these clothes do not flatter you at all. It should be a dress or nothing."
Rose scoffed, rolling her eyes.
"Come aboard. I happen to have no dresses in my cabin."
"Jack. I know Will set out to find you. Where is he?" Elizabeth questioned looking at Jack with a worried gaze hoping to find her fiance.
"Darling, I am truly unhappy to tell you this…"
Rose put her hand on her sister's arm letting her know that she was there.
"But through an unfortunate and entirely unforeseeable series of circumstances that have nothing whatsoever to do with me… poor Will was press ganged into Davy Jones' crew."
"Davy Jones?" Elizabeth asked, rather confused.
"Oh, please." James said with a scoff. "The Captain of the Flying Dutchman. A ship that ferries those who died at sea from this world to the next."
"Bang on. You look bloody awful. What are you doing here?" Jack questioned James with a disgusted look.
"You hired me. I can't help that your standards are lax."
"You smell funny."
Elizabeth shushed Jack. "Jack, all I want is to find Will."
Rose let out a breath shaking her head lightly.
"Are you certain? Is that what you really want most?"
"Of course." Elizabeth said, unsure of what he was going on about.
"I'd think you'd want to find a way to save Will most."
"And you have a way to do that?'
"Well, there is a chest."
"Oh dear." James said, shaking his head.
Rose let out a breath remembering what Beckett had said.
"A chest of unknown size and origin."
Pintel came up beside them hauling a large barrel with Ragetti. "What contains the still-beating heart of Davy Jones."
Ragetti mimed the beating of a heart.
Rose shuddered at the thought. That was something that you wouldn't deem normal and hear in everyday conversations.
"And whoever possesses that chest possesses the leverage to command Jones to do whatever it is he or she wants. Including saving our brave William from his grim fate."
"You don't actually believe him?" James asked, looking at the two girls.
"How can we find it?" Elizabeth questioned rather hopefully.
"With this." Jack said, pulling out his compass. "This Compass is unique."
"Unique here having the meaning of broken?"
"James." Rose said softly looking at James knowing that James didn't trust Jack and she had a feeling inside of her chest that Jack shouldn't be so easily trusted with the things that he had done so far.
"True enough, this compass does not point North."
"Where does it point?"
"It points to the thing you want the most in this world."
"Jack, are you telling the truth?"
"Every word, luv."
Elizabeth took a breath as he put the compass in her hands.
"What you want most in the world is to find the chest of Davy Jones, is it not."
"To save Will."
"By finding the chest of Davy Jones." He said opening the compass and stepping back He leaned in being very careful to not touch Elizabeth. He watched the needle swing before becoming steady. "Mr. Gibbs! We have our heading!"
"Finally. Cast off those lines. Weigh the anchor and crowd the canvas."
"I found some more recruits sir." An Irish crew man said moving forward.
"Welcome aboard." Jack looked at both Rose and Elizabeth. "Miss Swann and Miss Swann."
Both the sisters step up the ramp together as James was handed a goat to follow them.
Rose leaned in towards her sister. "Are we really trusting him on this?" She questioned softly, unsure of the whole thing.
"We have to trust him, Rose." Elizabeth said softly looking at her older sister. "I know you're not wanting to trust him. But if we can get Will back everything will be fine."
Rose took a soft breath. "I hope he doesn't lead us off in the case of getting your beloved back."
"Well going after Jack reunited you with your beloved." Elizabeth mused with a cheeky smile.
Rose cleared her throat as her cheeks went pink in embarrassment. She waved her hand shyly. "I do hope you know what you are doing."
Elizabeth gave her sister a cheeky smile. "Of course I do."
"Then that's one of us that knows what they're doing."
