Luckily, today I don't have any classes with Li, 'cause I wouldn't be able to look at him again. Kissing him was stupid. Of all the stupid things I've done in my life, kissing him is without a doubt the stupidest of them all. I mean, yes I had to come up with a boyfriend so I could brag about it to Eriol and get rid of him, but if I were just a little bit smarter, I would not have chosen Li; I would not have chosen someone from school. I would not have chosen a real person!
I spend the rest of the day, wondering what am I going to do now, because is obvious the students that saw me kissing Li this morning had already told the rest of the school about what happened. I mean, yes, Li and Daidouji broke up, but they're not done yet. Just as Rika and Eriol, I'm pretty sure they'll go back in no time.
This afternoon, when the bell that announces classes are over finally rings, I walk slowly towards my locker. I want to give it enough time for the rest of the school to change shoes and leave, before roaming around the crime scene. Before running into Eriol, Daidouji or Li.
But I was too optimistic since (obviously) Li's there, waiting for me.
It happens the same way as it happened this morning with Eriol. I open my locker, change shoes, and when I close the door, there's Li, looking at me. Although he looks at me half amused, half confused.
"Hi." It's all I can say, as I nervously smile at him.
"Is the kiss related with the letter that I got from you, but you didn't mail?" He says, mocking me.
"Yeah, a bit." It's all I can reply, visibly ashamed of myself. He then laughs.
"Listen, Kinomoto." He says in such a slow speech, that it makes me feel as if I'm back at first grade. "I'll admit you're attractive, but Tomoyo and I just broke up and I don't plan to have a new girlfriend in the near future, so…"
It's my turn to laugh, which makes Li interrupt himself, and thus the look he now gives to me is 100% confusion.
"I don't like you, Li." It's all I can say as I laugh. "So you can be sure the kiss I gave you was not for me to ask you to be my boyfriend."
"Then what was its purpose?" He hurries to ask. I kinda had forgotten how much Li cares about what others think about him.
"It was all because of the letters…"
"Letters." He repeats, visibly hurt. "So you mean I'm not the only one who got a letter?"
I blush, although I cannot pinpoint why.
"Well, I actually wrote five…"
"Five!" He repeats, shocked.
"Yes, five." It's now my turn to say slowly. "And between those five letters, the boy I actually have feelings for, also got one."
"Who?"
"Who what?"
"Who's the guy you actually like?"
"I don't have to tell you." I say in a hurry.
"Yes you do. You were the one who dragged me to your little drama… You kissed me in public!" He hurries to whisper, but he takes a moment to take a deep breath, and then asks. "Was that guy between the ones who saw us? Did you need him too see it? Or is that this guy actually doesn't exist and you're just coming up with more lies to justify why you kissed me?"
I bit my lip. His words hurt, but to actually confess to him who's the boy I like…
In the end, I sigh, defeated.
"It's Eriol Hiragizawa."
"It's him your older sister's boyfriend?"
I nod, visibly impressed. I didn't expect Rika and Eriol to be popular enough to be in Li's radar.
"They just broke up, but that doesn't mean…"
I have no idea how to continue that thought, so I cough, trying to make it obvious I'm not very comfortable with how this conversation is happening.
"Thanks to pretend when we kissed." I said, as I take my backpack, ready to leave.
"What are you going to do about Hiragizawa?" He asks. "If he thinks you and I are dating…"
"Things between us just didn't work." I reply. "He doesn't need to know any more details."
No notes today, cuz I'm exhausted as hell.
Still hope you're enjoying yourselves, guys.
