After putting Tilly in the spare bed they went downstairs. "So, how long do you plan to stay?" Jack asked, hopeful it would be a while. "Forever… hopefully… if Cal doesn't find us, but I don't see why he'd even think to look here. He thinks you're dead" Rose shrugged "good… how long have you booked the inn for?" "Just a month. I figured that gives me enough time to get on my feet and find somewhere proper for me and the girls. The inn is nice and Tilly likes it there, but it's not exactly a home" she smiled and nodded. "I see…" he smiled. He wanted to tell Rose that she and the girls were more than welcome to stay with him, but didn't want to scare her off so changed the subject. "Have you done much since you arrived?" He asked "not really… a little clothes shopping because we left the house with nothing aside from Tilly's teddy" she chuckled "we didn't get much, just enough to get us by for now" she nodded "we obviously went to the party tonight… and I took Tilly to the park… I'd been promising the poor girl I'd take her for almost a week, but hadn't had chance, that's where she thought we were going when we left the house for the train station in Philadelphia" "the park?" Jack frowned confused "the one by the bank?" He continued and got a nod in response "I walked past you… the other day" he said surprised "I only saw the back of you, so obviously didn't think it was you… I can't believe I walked past you and never knew…" he said surprised "the park may have been a less dramatic place for a reunion" she chuckled, only to be interrupted by Sophia beginning to cry. She stood up and carefully lifted her out of her pram and hushed her gently, kissing her head. "She's hungry" she said, getting a blanket from the pram "would you like me to take her in to the dining room to feed her?" Rose asked "oh no, it's OK… unless you want to, but I promise not to look" he laughed awkwardly "not like you haven't seen it all before" she smirked in response as she sat down and began to feed Sophia, putting a blanket over her to keep her modesty. Sure, Jack had seen it all before, but that was 8 years ago…

"So, do you still think about it?" Jack asked. Rose immediately knew what she meant "the Titanic? Every day" she nodded sadly "you?" "The same" he smiled weakly "I guess somethings you never forget or get over… just learn to live with… well, unless you're Cal and my Mother" she rolled her eyes. "They never got over it?" He asked surprised "oh no, they got over it. They got over it far too quickly! All they were bothered about was the payout, especially my Mother, she had debts to pay. It was like the people who lost their lives never even existed" Rose said, embarrassed of her husband and Mothers coping mechanisms. "How is your Mother?" Jack asked "the same. The 'me, me, me' attitude still remains. She lives the life or luxury in the mansion. She'll have noticed that I'm gone now, I'm not sure if she would have told Cal whilst he's on his business trip, or whether she'll wait for him to get back" she shrugged "well, if Cal ever does come, I'm only 5 minutes up the road. I promise I won't let him take you" he smiled at her. "Thank you" she smiled, grateful that his kind heart was still the same.

She adjusted her top back up and put the blanket over Sophia, stroking her cheek to try and get her to go back to sleep, which she did fairly quickly. She smiled down at her daughter, unaware Jack was watching her, but she was interrupted by Tilly shouting.

"Mummy! Mummy!" She cried. Rose sighed "no rest for the wicked, hey" she laughed to herself and stood up, putting Sophia back in her pram "back in a minute" she said to Jack as she left the room "OK" he smiled gently as she walked up the stairs.

She walked in to the spare room where Tilly was sat awake, crying. "What's the matter baby?" Rose asked as she sat on the bed "I had a bad dream and I don't have Cuddles with me" she said upset. Cuddles was the bear that Tilly had chosen to bring from Philadelphia. "Oh, sorry sweetheart, he's at the inn" she sighed. Jack heard the muffled conversation and went up the stairs.

He knocked on the bedroom door that Rose and Tilly were in. "Come in" Rose said quietly, watching as Jack walked in. "I heard you say don't have your teddy with you? Now, I know it isn't quite the same, but would you like to borrow my old teddy bear? He was mine growing up. He's a little bit old now, but I'm sure he'd love to keep you company" he said as he got an old looking hear from the wardrobe "yes please" Tilly sniffed and Rose smiled at his kindness. "Thank you" Tilly smiled weakly as Jack handed her the bear. "You're welcome" he smiled back. "Now, would you like me to lay with you until you fall asleep, or would you like to go back to the inn now?" Rose asked "can you lay with me? I'm too tired to get up" "OK sweetheart, but I will have to wake you up soon so we can go back to the inn" Jack didn't want to say it was OK for them to stay in front of Tilly, incase Rose didn't want to. "I'll be downstairs when you're done" he said "thank you" Rose said as she climbed in to the bed beside Tilly.

Once Jack had left the room, Tilly spoken up. "Mummy, when are we going home? I miss my bedroom" "we're not going home sweetheart. We're going to stay in Chippewa Falls. We need to be away from Father, remember?" "oh yeah…" Tilly sighed. It wasn't that she wanted to return home- she hated the environment, her Father and Grandmother terrified her, but all her stuff was there. Stuff that she would miss. "Night Mummy" she yawned "night baby" Rose kissed her head and watched as her daughter fell in to a deep sleep.

Once she was sure Tilly was asleep, she heard Sophia begin to cry. She carefully got out of the bed and crept down the stairs. As she reached the bottom, Sophia's cries began to wear off as she heard Jack talk to Sophia quietly. "It's OK, you're OK. I know this is all a bit strange right now. A new place, all these new people, the strange man that's holding you instead of your Mummy. But it's all OK. Everyone here will look after you. You, your mummy and your big sister" Rose began to well up but wiped her eyes before walking back in to the living room, deciding not to tell Jack she had heard him talking to Sophia.

"Thank you for picking her up… you must be a miracle worker, getting her to settle" she chuckled "would you like me to take her?" Rose offered "I'm OK with her… unless you want her back?" Jack said "oh no, you can keep hold of her if you like" she smiled "thank you… can't say I've had much experience with babies… I can't remember the last time I held one… but she's adorable. Her and Tilly both are" he said sincerely "thank you" she smiled gratefully.
