Halo 5.1 Guardians of Sera Chapter 44
"Dad, we're in a loading bay near the rail track. We need to find a way up to the top of the cliff" said Marcus.
"There's...an elevator at the back" said Adam
The door the the elavator opens.
"Okay I see it" said Anya.
"And this bloody facility's been here all these years" said Sam.
"With all the scientists. No wonder they dissapeared. We thought they'd been killed!" adds Anya.
"Yeah we did, didn't we?" asked Marcus.
As the elevator kept going up, it unfortunately lost power on the way.
"Uh guys? This ain't the top floor" said Jace.
"Might be an ambush. C'mon, keep your eyes open" said Marcus.
"If only we could see a goddamn thing!" said Jace.
"I got this...Spartans, lights on" said Master Chief as he and the others turned on their flashlights on their helmets and Kelly's shotgun.
"Much better. Thank you." said Jace.
"We'll take point. Keep us covered" said Master Chief.
Then Locust reinforcements came.
"Come on! Hold 'em off!" orders Marcus.
"Marcus I'm tracking you on the security cams. Look for the service ladder!" said Adam.
"We're looking!" said Marcus.
"Chief, keep shinning the light on them so we can hold 'em off!" said Anya.
After they hold off the Locust, Chief and the Spartans all acted as a temporary light source through the dark halls.
"Delta, take point, we'll light the way." said Chief.
They found the stairs to a lit office which had the service ladder.
"There's the ladder" said Anya.
The ladder too them back topside and outside to the Maelstrom.
"We're nearly there! Come on! Take those assholes out!" said Marcus as a Reaver lands on the ground.
The area was cleared as the Maelstrom tower was right within their sights.
"There it is. Wonder how many years it took the government to build it?" asked Sam.
"And when they we're planning on sharing it with the rest of us" added Jace.
"Hold it, enemey reinforcments up ahead.
Delta and The Spartans kept pushing forward and the Locust back as they reached the tower. The elevator doors opened with everyone inside.
"Marcus, you've got...one, two, three generators to shut down. They're in the basement." said Adam.
"Let's hope the elevator works this time" said Anya.
"Come on, let's find the generator room!" said Marcus.
The team made it too the lobby and too the path towards the generator area to shut down the Maelstrom.
"Any advice Dad?" asked Marcus.
"You'll need to throw three switches. That shuts down the whole generator by stages. But there'll be Locust in there waiting for you, Marcus." explained Adam.
"Fine by me... Dad, I'm sorry. I shoulda saved you from all this. God, I tried." said Marcus.
"Don't, Marcus, please. I'm the one who needs some forgiveness. I've cost you everything. I can see it." said Adam.
"He's gone dad. Dom's gone." said Marcus.
"Marcus, I wish I can bring him back. But all I can do is...make sure you all have a future. I won't fail you this time. I promise." said Adam.
"Marcus, If Dom was here, we would have wanted all of us to keep going. Fighting or otherwise." said Master Chief.
"Yeah, Let's go shut off the generator.
The team reached the switches and Locust standing in their way.
"Marcus takes the first switch, 117 and I will get the last two.
"Theres the switch!" said Anya.
"Shut it down!" said Marcus pulling it down.
Master Chief and Locke cleared the area of the other two as they went for them.
"Shutting down the second switch" said Chief
"Shutting down the third" said Locke.
"Okay, that's done it" said Sam.
"Marcus, the Maelstrom's still working. What happened?" asked Adam.
"Well we shut the damn thing down! Is there some other power supply?" asked Marcus.
"The Locust must have some backup supply somewhere else!" said Adam
"Ah, shit! That could take hours to find!" said Marcus.
"Cut off the coolant! That'll take the generators offline. But it'll cause one hell of an explosion." suggested Adam.
"Well, that works for me. Come on, let's find the valves." said Marcus.
"Marcus, you're gonna have to get out of there fast!" said Adam.
"Don't worry Dad, we will!" assured Marcus.
The team took the stairs directly to the coolant room where the first valve is. After clearing it of Locust, Marcus sets it off.
"That's one down" said Anya.
"I'll take the second valve" said Master Chief.
As Master Chief gets the second valve, a Grinder Boomer tries to flank him.
"Grinder!" shouts Marcus with everyone focusing fire.
"We got it Chief, go for the valve." said Marcus.
Master Chief gets the second valve setting it off advancing to the next one.
"That's another!" said Jace.
"I got the next valve" said Locke.
The team then takes on an Armored Kantus in front of them giving Locke the slip he needs for the third valve.
"Third one's down!" said Locke.
"Three shut. Two left!" said Anya.
"Ah man this shit is getting real!" said Jace.
"Tanaka on me, We're going after the last two!" said Kelly.
Kelly sprinted towards the fourth valve with Tanaka on the fifth.
"Cover us!" shouts Tanaka.
As the team dealt with two Armored Kantus, Kelly and Tanaka got to their positions at the valves to shut it off.
"Valve shut down!" said Kelly.
"That's four, one more to go!" said Marcus.
Tanaka reached the valve and shuts it off.
"Final valve is shut down!" she said.
The explosion immediately began as it was time to bail out.
"Everybody run!" shouts Anya.
"Marcus, get out of there! Now!" shouts Adam opening a door for the team to escape.
"That's it. Everybody out!" shouts Marcus leading the sprint back outside.
The tower was crumbling behinf them, the tower exploding as the Maelstrom was fianlly taken down once and for all. Once it died, the sky immediately cleared up for beautiful sunny weather.
"Marcus are you alright? Marcus!" asked Adam.
"We're okay Dad. Standby" said Marcus.
"Wow...look at that...instant summer" said Jace.
"Anya to Cole. Baird? Anyone receiving?" asked Anya.
"Hey, we heard that explosion five klicks out. Havin' fun?" asked Baird.
"Baird? Where are you?" asked Anya.
"We're inbound baby! The Navy's here! WHOO!" shouts Cole.
Sam then gets Anya's attention as everyone turned to see reinforcements have arrived.
"Bloody hell! They found the UIR! It's a Gorasni ship!" said Sam.
"Yeah, we havin' a reunion with our ol' indie buddies. Time for a grub-stomppin' party! You ready to roll? WHOO!" asked Cole.
"Yeah, Let's do it" said Marcus.
Two ravens land as Baird, Cole, Fred, Linda, Vale and Buck all reunite with their teams.
"C'mon Jack" said Baird.
"Man it's good to see you guys again. Hell of an adventure we was on" said.
"You know Buck, I was expecting bouquets, A band maybe? Something. Hey, where's Dom and Dizzy?" asked Baird.
"Yeah, we'd figured Dom would be with you guys. Is he okay?" asked Vale.
"Dizzy's taking the submarine offshore. Dom...Dom didn't make it" explained Marcus.
"Oh no...Oh fuck no" said Baird.
"Somebody's gonna pay. SOMEBODY'S GONNA FUCKING PAY!" shouts Cole.
"You're damn right!" adds Fred.
"He got us this far, let's finish it." said Marcus.
"All stations this is Captain Lasky of the Infinity over!"
"Captain? What's your position?" asked Locke.
"Infinity is inbound. We're working a joint operation to get that weapon online." said Captain Lasky.
"What about reinforcements?" asked Chief.
"We rounded up all available UNSC assets from Anvil Gate onboard the Infinity. We got Pelicans on standby to provide air support with Palmer leading ground efforts." explained Roland.
"What about those calls captain?" asked Locke.
"Ah shit! Lasky! You got Phantoms on your six!" said Marcus.
"Wait, hold fire human, We are allies!" said a voice.
"Arbiter!" said Master Chief.
"With the Swords of Sanghellios at your side. Good to see you again Spartan."
The Arbiter has a Phantom land with a squad of his Elites from the Swords of Sanghellios flaking him.
"Captain Lasky as asked for our aid in this effort. We shall fight by your side to see this fight finished." explained Arbiter.
"Good to have you on board. Sam, Jace get back to the ship and help 'em out. They need intel on where to land the troops." said Marcus.
"But Marcus, you need us here with you" said Jace.
"It's non negotiable people. Ship out!" ordered Marcus.
"Hey uh, Sam...take care of yourself. Okay?" asked Baird.
"Yeah, You too Baird." said Sam as she and Jace head to help with intel.
"Okay, we're heading for the main tower. This is where it ends. One way or another.
