This is an AU story & my take on what should have happened with Elizabeth & Jack. Many of the original events of the series will be included, as well as some that I create. Some of the events will be omitted and others will be changed to fit my story. The timeline of the events have also changed to fit what I wanted to tell. This part 2 and picks up where part 1 left off.

A modern-day WCTH. Eighteen year old Jack is trying to break free from his parents shadow. A chance meeting with Elizabeth changes the trajectory of both their lives. This is the 6th story in a series about Nathan, Dee, Allie, and baby Christopher Grant, with one on the way, who live in Hope Valley in their new home with grandparents Archie and Emily Grant. Jack works for the Police Department, but Elizabeth is currently looking for a new job. Jack was previously married until his wife passed away, leaving him with his infant son, Matthew. Both Jack and Elizabeth are looking for a new relationship and are excited to proceed with this new relationship together. I hope you enjoy!

Jack Thornton moves to Hamilton just before he begins his senior year in high school in this modern day story. His father, Tom, begins work for a shipping tycoon, William Thatcher. Jack meets Elizabeth before school starts. Their first meeting didn't go well. Will this drive them apart or draw them together?

Elizabeth follows Charles back to Hamilton after he proposes to her in the schoolhouse. Charles and Jack think she has accepted Charles' proposal of marriage. Is this all a misunderstanding? Can Jack and Elizabeth find their way back to each other after her indecisiveness? This story is set in the time frame of the show. However, the storyline differs from it.

"I've met charmers like him before. The flower soon withers on the vine." Elizabeth said those words to Abigail shortly after Lucas' arrival in Hope Valley. About a year of marriage and Elizabeth starts to realize the truth of those words. However, when she finally hits rock bottom, the hand held out to her in love is one of the last ones she would expect.

Based on the preview for Season 10 Episode 11, a take on what could happen. After Nathan asks Elizabeth what she wants in the schoolhouse, Elizabeth finally comes to terms with feelings. Discovering what it is that is in her heart and despite any fears that she may still have, she fights through.

Trips to Aberdeen and Hamilton cause Elizabeth to question her choices and the need to turn her life around. As she attempts to correct her mistakes and make amends to those she has deeply hurt will she be too late, or will true love persevere?

Hope Valley, 1913. Elizabeth and her children make a new start in a town filled with Hope, with a little help from a Mountie and his niece. A J/E story that could also easily be read as N/E!

"What do you want?" Nathan's question to Elizabeth hung dramatically in the school house. Both have fought their feelings for far too long, but now, this simple question will force them to face the truth, and the truth will set them free.
