Hello.
This fanfic is more of a "Dear Newcomer24" letter rather than my regular fanfics. If you are looking for a fanfiction and not me complaining about many things, I suggest you turn away. Also, this is not just about Newcomer, but also the SRB2 Message Board staff.
- The Newcomer24 problem -
Newcomer24 is that one person who'd sting you forever, keeping you frustrated. He slithers up your skin, like a tough final boss. He is careless about you, and doesn't put you out of your misery.
He usually harasses people like he never gave a crap about them. Keep in mind that harassment is bullying and he quote unquote 'hates' that. Also noting that harassment is illegal by law (in the US, pretty sure in other places too). He nitpicks the smallest, yet dumbest things you'd ever hear. An example would be this:
"Krystal is a telepathy, and this story sucks! (Command)"
Note that the example is just the beginning of what he could be like. If you do encounter him, do either:
A) Block him, and remove all his guest reviews he leaves them (if he does).
B) Rerelease your story without his reviews.
C) Ask him to stop kindly.
D) Ignore him and you be you.
He pouts about how bad Star Fox Command is, about Krystal's telepathy, and a bunch more crap that are unrelated. If he continues to cry over spilled milk, he needs to stop.
The Star Fox fanfiction community was never like this until he showed up. Heck, the fan art community is also getting harassed by him. It's some time until he gets banned for unconstructive criticism. If he doesn't like bad reviews, then he shouldn't be leaving bad reviews either.
It's heartbreaking to us for him to leave utter rude comments on our fanfics. We should all treat each other with respect, no matter what. He's the nicest guy, or, the guy who hates Command and pouts about Krystal's telepathy, depending on who you ask.
Before we know it, it's Piggy infection. Someone gets attacked, they become one of them, rinse and repeat. We can't afford his behavior, and the fact that he used autism as a shield before is not a good sign. This means he's willing to use excuses to protect himself.
Here's an example that doesn't involve Newcomer24, but rather anonymous guests:
Guest #1: "This story sucks, I can't get an idea of what is happening!"
Guest #2: "Calm down. You need to chill."
Guest #1: "Hey, I have autism and dyslexia. Please don't be rude!"
That example explains someone using their birth defects to shield themselves. While I am trying to be respectful with those that have defects in their life, this is no joke. Using your birth defects to defend yourself is rude, disrespectful, and careless to yourself if you do just that.
No but's, no excuses, no rudeness. This is a shared space where everyone lives and grows, making fanfics. Everyone is exceptional, they all have different traits, but using those traits to as a way to be rude is unkind and unhealthy.
- The SRB2 Message Board staff problem -
The Sonic Robo Blast 2 (SRB2) Message Board is a place where people discuss SRB2, share mods, etc. It's like Roblox Studio and this website, but you share modifications instead of plugins and fanfics.
The problem here is that the staff of the website are very toxic. They evade their own rules, give false warnings, and even let a flame war go through. It's like saying 4chan without bigoted language and anonymity. Sure, there are some nice staff members (Inazuma, DrStephen, etc.), but lots of the forum is infected with toxicity.
I am speechless how far this forum has gone, but the fact they successfully made an illusion that everything is fine is quite something in a bad way. You see, they are toxic, right? Well, people got brainwashed and converted into social media addicts because of this. Studies show that, when social media is not used correctly, will lead to insecurity and perfectionism. A forum is a source of social media and not its own thing.
The community thinks of themselves as an "art community," or at least that's what Charybdizs said. Charyb also said that mods are intellectual property, but that's literally applying copyright law to a fangame. What sense does it make to apply copyright to a fangame? Sure, people should get permission to make a port and stuff, but otherwise, this is unnecessary.
Now, back to topic. Yes, Mystic was right about toxicity in his Reddit post. Charyb did screw up my love for SRB2, and the illusion of being fine is caused by the game. The game was the villain this whole time. It's a simple 5-step brainwashing:
1. Play the game, love it, try the addons.
2. You make an account.
3. You try making a mod for the game.
4. You get addicted to the forums section.
5. This is the moment you screw up and get brainwashed.
That's how social media brainwashes you, just minus step 1 and 3. Now, why not we talk about the users that tried to fend a thread that became a flame war, shall we?
DylanDude is a user with zero Hahaguffawchuckleamalus, and a messed up version of Melvin. He tries to be intact with the rules while the staff applies double standards for him to backseat moderate, and is utter rude. He tries to help people in a way that sometimes confuses people. He has more intellect and that's why people usually gets confused. He's the definition of a Twitter user. And no offense, but he is desperate to backseat moderate, and Charyb is okay with that. I am also sure that he was currying favor with Charyb. And one last thing is that he has a profile picture that gets repetitive fast and always involves the one or two characters.
amperbee isn't that important, but I figured I'd talk about him. He's the constant bell ringing to notify you that "someone knows this" or "they can do this" and it gets annoying fast. Let's not forget to mention that he has excessive swearing in his messages. That's pretty much it.
Charybdizs is the dessert and the disaster. They have zero attitude when it comes to a person that should feel welcome and not hurt. Also, they have too big an ego and Hahaguffawchuckleamalus and zero love and IQ. I don't care if they act like a Twitter user, nor if they're an admin. What I really care is the safety of their community. If they are gonna walk half-minded, and power hungry, then stay away from them at ALL costs. They aren't worth your time and use cancel culture as an excuse for toxicity. They are just a troll administrator and should be avoided. If you encountered them and feel unsure, break your silence and speak against them. One last thing is that saying "a random staff member is viewing this thread" should not count as backseat moderating, as it's just a heads up about who is viewing a thread or page.
Also, Charyb, before you make a review, note this:
If you want a successful website that is for everyone like Scratch, you have to accept criticism and willingness. You also have to accept the fact that, sometimes, people know the right way to go. Abide life, in general, as it has it's twist and turns. A thread, a videogame, a TV show, a forum, social media, and lots more are not definite answers, but rather God is. And always follow God. We all are exceptional, and we be who we be.
If you want context, Google this:
"What in the world is the SRB2 Workshop?"
My lesson that I advise you to do: stay away from the trolls, even in flame wars.
- The Conclusion -
This was made to teach everyone a lesson: always have a heart. If you don't like something, skip it! You don't have to go up and say "it sucks!" That just hurts the creator. Also, never start or participate in a flame war, even with trolls hanging around. Also, please, be the best kind you can!
