Blocking Out the Sun

"You said you'd never leave, Alucard." Integra spoke, voice stern and grounded as ever. She cleared her throat, turning herself to face him. "That was 30 years ago, and yet it does not feel that way."

The room was still dark, with the moonlight cascading through the drawn curtains.

Alucard sat before her, his eyes lifted to see her face. "I never tried to leave, but in that moment, it was useless to fight. I became nothing, and then I became everything."

"I know that. But you still disobeyed me when I said not to leave me." Integra replied, crossing her arms, refusing to take her eyes off him, not for a second. Her heart felt heavy in her chest; she hated that very feeling. "You never did such a thing before, because in a way, you are insurmountable, capable of so much, in destruction and creation, and..."

"And what?" Alucard asked, a swell of pride in his chest, hearing those words from his Master never ceased to appease him. "Is there more that I'm capable of?"

Integra lifted herself from her bed, arms still crossed, and stood on her feet, looking down at the vampire, her vampire. "I thought I had seen everything, through my years of being the head of the Hellsing Organization. But you in tow, with you, there was never a dull moment. Is that a satisfactory answer?"

Alucard only smirked, shaking his head. "No, not just yet." He said with a pause, not actually wanting to goad her any further, but he could not help himself, not even in this moment.

"Please do continue, Master." He uttered, his voice becoming low with arousal.

Integra arched an eyebrow, and she couldn't help but smile; against her better judgment and her earlier anger.

"I'll take it from here, Alucard," and before he could say anything more, Integra uncrossed her arms and knelt down before the vampire, on equal ground.

Integra's heart felt lighter, the earlier heaviness fading. "After all these years, you still find the slightest praise above all else, " she responded.

"Why yes indeed," Alucard said, and he noticed Integra's lone eye gleam in the moonlight, making her even more striking, and even more beautiful.

"Hear this and take heed, Alucard. You are back here forevermore, by my side. Do you understand, my count?" Integra said firmly and gently, holding her hand out to him.

Alucard grinned. "Back forevermore, my Master, as you command." He answered softly, and he reached out his hand, holding onto Integra's own.
