Chapter 35

In the stadium Nico was giving a brief summary of what happened in the Volcano Area with Yuya's duel against Sheba, in the Iceberg Area he talked about the one on one duel between Yuzu and Halil which due to an accident turned into a tag duel when Yuzu fell on top of Olga who was in the middle of a duel against Gongenzaka, and the Ancient Ruins Area he was impressed about Shun beating three opponents. He said that fierce battles were happening everywhere and that now it was time to interview the fans.

"That's my cue! I'll interview people from the participants' duel schools. First is You Show School's principal Shuzo Hiiragi, who teaches entertainment daughter Yuzu and Yuya Sakaki both have one win. They're off to a good start." The news reporter said. She then turned around and put the mike right to Shuzo.

"Thank you! They'll win and- Oops, the camera is over here!" Shuzo said trying to be professional but Tatsuya instantly shoved his way in front of the camera cheering Yuya on, followed by Ayu cheering Yuzu on, then Futoshi came in telling them both to give him the shivers with their entertainment dueling.

"What does Yuya's mother have to say?" the reporter asked as she then went to Yoko with the mike.

"Yuya is doing great, but…" she said with a frown, making everyone worried about what she was going to say next.

"I want to see more cuties like Michy!" she said, shocking everyone into dumbfounded silence.

Jungle Area

"Friendship is important, I learned that wonderful friendship decides the outcome of a match." Halil said as he followed behind Olga.

"That doesn't mean I have to team up with you." Olga said as she continued to walk around looking for Pendulum cards. Then Halil looked to his left and told Olga that there were two pendulum cards, and as a sign of their friendship Olga can have one. However as he reached for them they moved away from him. Halil ran after saying come back with Olga telling him to wait. After running for a couple of minutes, they both ran through a bush to find the two cards on a rock. Halil approached them again and picked them up. It was only then that he saw the fishing line attached to the two cards.

"All right! I caught some! I've hooked a couple of guests! You're up, Michy!" Teppei said as he stood on top of a rock holding his fishing rod.

"Leave it to me. Since you've come all the way from overseas, I'll give you my best hospitality. Duel me!" Michi said as he appeared from behind a tree causing Yoko to fangirl and Shuzo sweatdropped watching her.

'I've gathered these cards without having to duel. I still have plenty of bait, heh heh heh.' Teppei thought as he sat on top of the rock with a cooler holding a bunch of Pendulum Cards. He couldn't believe that Michi would team up with him but this was the best turn of events. He would gather rather stupid suckers and when they would come Michi would duel them, and after beating them he would have more cards as bait and then when Michi gets tired, he would then challenge him and when he wins, then all of Michi's Pendulum Cards would be his. He began laughing to himself which creeped Olga out from the smile he was wearing on his face.

"Go Michy! I'm counting on you, partner!" Teppei said from his safe spot on the rock.

In the Stadium

"Teppei Tairyobata isn't going to do anything." Futoshi said.

"He's not going to duel and let Michy do everything?" Ayu asked, not impressed at all.

"What is he thinking?" Tatsuya asked.

Jungle Area

"You're fine by yourself?" Halil asked to make sure this was fine but Michi said he was fine with dueling both him and Olga. Olga instantly activated her duel disk and Halil followed her lead with Michi also activating his duel disk.

"It's a two-on-one duel in the Jungle Area! Halil and Olga vs Michio Mokota! Whoa who is this? There seems to be another person in the Volcano area where Yuya Sakaki currently is!" Nico said as he turned to the hologram of Yuya walking up a fleet of stairs. When he got to the top he saw Dennis standing to his side.

"Who are you?" he asked and when Dennis saw him a big smile appeared on his face as he ran over to him and began to very enthusiastically shake his hands.

"You're Yuya Sakaki right? The creator of Pendulum Summon? Wow, I can't believe I get to meet Yusho Sakaki's son!" Dennis said enthusiastically.

"Wait! You know my dad?!" Yuya asked.

"Of course! He's the duelist that I admire!" Dennis said while in the back of his mind he was begging for forgiveness.

"Oh right! You asked me who I was right? I'm Dennis, an LDS exchange student!" He said jumping back and gives an exaggerated bow.

"Hey how about we duel each other?" Dennis asked, confusing Yuya.

"If you duel, everyone is a friend! So I want to duel you and become your friend." Dennis said and Yuya remembered that his dad once said the exact same thing to him when he was younger.

"Okay! Your on!" Yuya said and both got into position and activated their duel disk. In the audience Yoko was dead in her seat from the cutie overload. Shuzo was fanning her as she had images of Dennis and Michi running through her mind. Yuya and Dennis showed the cards they were waging and then started the duel.

"Duel!"

"You can go first!" Dennis said but Yuya said that he should go first so he could see what he could do.

"What an honor. Then it's my turn! When there are no monsters on our fields, I can Special Summon this card. I Special Summon Performage Stilts Launcher! I set two cards and then I place the Scale 10 Pendulum card Yellow Scarab in the Pendulum Zone!" Dennis said only setting on scale.

"You only placed one card?" Yuya asked, confused.

"There is no rule that says when you place the Pendulum Scale you have to place both cards in the Pendulum Zone! You only need two cards for the Pendulum Summon, but it can be useful to activate alone." Dennis said, teaching Yuya something new.

"Now I activate Yellow Scarab's Pendulum effect! A Spellcaster-Type monster gains 300 attack points!" Dennis said.

"So that's why. You were using the effect." Yuya said. Dennis smiled and then ended his turn.

'Since he played only one card, that means he didn't have two Pendulum Cards in his hand. In that case…' Yuya thought, looking at Dennis's side of the field.

"My turn! Draw!" Yuya said and when he saw what he drew he smiled.

"I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 4 Performapal Trump Witch and Scale 8 Performapal Skullcrobat Joker! Now I can summon monsters between the Level of 5 and 7 simultaneously! Pendulum Summon! Appear now, my monsters!" Yuya said as both Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Performapal Life Swordsman!" Yuya said as he summoned two monsters to his field.

"I activate Trump Witch's effect which allows me to Fusion Summon without Polymerization! I fuse Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon with Life Swordsman! Unparalleled master of daggers. Sparkling dragon with the heterochromatic eyes. Become one here and now, and awaken a new being! Fusion Summon! The blazing brave dragon with noble eyes! Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"Yuya said summoning his monster.

"Yuya Sakaki successfully Pendulum Fusioned! Such a magnificent series of moves!" Nico said, looking at the hologram showing Yuya with his dragon.

"Hot Blooded!" Shuzo Yelled with tears falling down his face pumping his arm up and down so fast it could barely be seen.

"Fantastic! You truly are Yusho's protege! You Show School is truly wonderful if there are more duelists like you there!" Dennis said impressed.

"Then you'll love this! Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon's effect activates! When summoned I can change the attack of all special summoned monsters you control to 0." Yuya said and Dennis watched as his monster's attack hit 0.

"Battle! Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon attack Performage Stilts Launcher!" Yuya said and then his monster destroyed Dennis's monster blasting him back and reducing his life points.

"That's an unusual monster." Dennis said after getting up. When he looked behind himself he found an Action card on the railing.

"I'm annoyed, so I activate the Action Spell Flame Ball." Dennis said as a fireball was falling toward Yuya.

" That isn't much damage!" Yuya said.

"Flame Ball will now burst into a colorful rainbow. One, two, three!" Dennis said as he held up a finger for each number and then the fireball burst into smoke and then a confetti ball appeared but when it opened it blasted Yuya back from the powerful shock wave. He looked up confused from the amount of damage he received.

"Are you okay? Sorry to surprise you. By banishing Stilts Launcher from my graveyard, Flame Ball's damage equals the most amount of damage I took from you. And since it was in the graveyard it was free from your dragon's effect." Dennis said.

"Dennis has damaged Yuya! Their furious back-and-forth is full of entertainment!" Nico said.

"You both get fired up! Get your blood boiling! Forget the other duel. Michy is doing big things! It gives me shivers" Yoko said, imitating Shuzo then looking at the hologram with Michi on it and imitating Futoshi. Both Futoshi and Shuzo were uncomfortable with this but didn't say anything since they were afraid she would hunt them down like she did yesterday.

"Whoa! Something new is happening in the Ancient Ruins Area!" Nico said.

Ancient Ruins Area

Yuzu was walking into a building looking around when she found Shun standing against a pillar waiting.

"Kurosaki! I have a lot of things to ask you. About Sora, and Academia!" she said walking closer to Shun who opened his eyes and for a brief moment he saw Ruri but when he blinked he saw Yuzu standing in front of him.

"I don't have time for this." Shun said as he began to walk away.

"Wait!" Yuzu said running after Shun to get answers.

"This card's effect allows it to attack you directly!" a voice said, causing both Yuzu and Shun to look and see one of the Knights of Duel with a monster on the field.

"Slash the Assault Knight attacks you directly!" Carl said with his monster attacking, forcing Yuzu and Shun to get down.

"Slash the Assault Knight can change battle damage to 0!" Ashley said as the attack came at his monster.

"Knight of Duels? Why are they here?" Yuzu said when she and Shun stood up.

"They don't give up." Shun said as he glared at the Knights. Carl ended his turn and then said that both Yuzu and Sun were talking nonsense, followed by Ashley saying to kick them out of the way and then start his turn and repeated the move that Carl did but targeted Bram. Seeing the attack coming both Yuzu and Shun jumped out of the way. Bram activated his Slash the Assault Knight's effect and negated the damage to 0.

"They're using this duel as an excuse to try and hurt me." Shun said after getting back up.

"No way! This is not the way a duel should be!" Yuzu said, holding her arm. Ashley then ended his turn and said they could continue this forever till they crumble to pieces with Bram saying that if they don't like it they can join the duel by paying a 2000 life point penalty. Then Bram started his turn and just like Carl and Ashley he attacked with Slash the Assault Knight but it was going straight for Yuzu and Shun blasting Shun into a pillar and Yuzu onto the top of a ruin across from the area that she was just in.

"YUZU!" Shuzo yelled but was being held back by Yoko, Tatsuya, Futoshi and Ayu.

"They're a disgrace as duelists!" Tatsuya said Holding Shuzo's stomach.

"How could they do that to Yuzu Onii-Chan" Ayu said, holding his left leg.

"I'm getting the shivers but not the good kind!" Futoshi said, holding his right leg. As Yoko held his arms she kept saying that Yuzu's okay even though she didn't fully believe that.

Ashley said they were simply dueling, followed by Bram saying they're not breaking any rules. Yuzu struggled to get up and when she finally focused on Shun and the Knights of Duel she felt her legs aching. She heard footsteps and when she looked over she saw three unknown people dressed in the same uniform but a gem on their helmet was red, green, and yellow. She watched as they ran, wondering who they were.

LDS Control Room

When Reiji saw the three men in uniform he instantly stood up, scaring Reira a bit.

"Cut the Ancient Ruins feed from the public!" Reiji said and in the stadium the screen showing the Ancient Ruins Area was lost. Causing the crowd to mummer in confusion but Shuzo just went ballistic when he lost sight of his daughter.

"Wh-what happened?" Ayu asked, still holding Shuzo's leg.

"Umm…There seems to be some technical difficulties with one of the feeds. Let's get back to the fierce duel between Yuya and Dennis instead." Nico said, just as confused as the crowd.

Volcano Area

"I activate the Continuous Spell Not Your Performance Time from my hand! Now our Normal Summoned monsters can't attack. I end my turn." Yuya said, activating his spell card.

Dennis Lp: 1500 Hand: 2

Yuya Lp: 1500 Hand: 1

"I see. Even if I special summon a monster that could possibly beat Brave-Eyes Pendulum Dragon it won't be destroyed. And there is no monster that can be normal summoned that can beat it but with Not Your Performance Time even if I found a monster it can no longer attack. Wonderful! But this is what makes the show more exciting. My turn! Draw!" Dennis said as he drew a card from his deck.

"My showtime Begins!" Dennis said as a spotlight was on him. Yuya braced himself for Dennis's move.

"I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 2 Blue Whale and Scale 10 Pendulum card Yellow Scarab that I placed earlier! Now I can summon monsters between Level 3 and 9 simultaneously! Pendulum Summon! Come! Level 4 Performage Damage Juggler, the Level 4 Performage Flame Eater, and Level 4 Performage Mirror Conductor! I overlay Level 4 Damage Juggler and Flame Eater!" Dennis said, completing the Pendulum Scale and then summoning his monsters.

"What?" Yuya said surprised. But Dennis just smiled.

"Show must go on! Sky magician, travel around the stage magnificently! Xyz Summon! Appear! Rank 4 Performage Trapeze Magician!" Dennis said as his ace monster jumped on the field.

'So he can use Xyz like Kurosaki?' Yuya thought. Looking at Dennis monster. On the stairs the person from Fusion was standing watching the duel. They smiled when they saw the Xyz monster.

'Finally found you Xyz refugee.' They thought. Then they looked at Yuya and for a brief moment they were shocked.

"Yu-Yuri?! Why is he here?! Isn't the Professor keeping him locked up under the pretense of protection?!" They said but when they said the last part a bubble of rage built up in their chest. They clench their fist and slowly make their way up the stairs but stay out of view of Yuya and Dennis. They had a mission to complete and they weren't going to let Yuri being here stop them.
