Chapter 19-Consequences
Nia's P.O.V
Nia looked at a guard as he walked into the throne room. "Have you found Costia?" Nia asks.
"Maybe," The guard says. "Wes was killed last night by the Commander. She said that you will pay for your crimes. Roan was also seen in the crowd."
Nia smirks as she stands up. " That means that Costia failed at killing him which means Lexa knows that she is alive or was and she probably told them about Ontari," Nia says as she looks at her nightblood.
"Last time we went against the Commander, she won," The guard says.
"I am aware of that," Nia says. "She might win this time but if she does, it will be the end of Azgeda. Prepare our army, I want every person who can hold a weapon to fight. Ages ten and up, is that understood?"
"Yes, my gueen," The guard says before he leaves.
"Children my queen?" Ontari asks making Nia look at her.
"They can fight, and the Commander will hesitate to kill a child, do you have a problem with that Ontari?"
"No, my queen," Ontari says.
"Good," Nia says before she walks away.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke stood on the balcony watching the sun as it rises in the sky. Lexa walks up behind her and wraps her arms around her waist and kisses the side of her neck. "Someones in a good mood," Clarke says as she leans back into Lexa.
"Why wouldn't I be in a good mood, Clarke?"
"We're about to go to war, your former girlfriend killed the flamekeeper and has been Nia's puppet," Clarke says.
"Yes, that is bad, but right now. I'm enjoying the moment. Waking up to a beautiful and amazing woman," Lexa says.
"I know, I'm great."
"You spend, to much time with Raven," Lexa says as she turns Clarke around and kisses her. She pulls back and looks at her. "Now what is bothering you?"
"Costia," Clarke says.
"Stop thinking about her, Clarke. She can't hurt anybody."
"I know that, that isn't my problem. Soon she is going to be free, people are going to ask questions and they could find out what she has done and if they do, it could be bad, some people could see you as weak."
"You're the one who told me not to kill her," Lexa says.
"I don't want you to kill her. But she does need to be punished for what she has done."
"How?" Lexa asks.
"We make sure she can never do it again," Clarke suggests. Lexa looks at her confused for a moment before her eyes widen.
"She won't survive that, Clarke," Lexa says.
"She will, my Dad brought some medical supplies that Kane brought down and I saved Raven from a wound that your healers wouldn't have been able to. I can keep her alive, I know it."
"Are you sure? You're suggesting taking her arm."
"I know, but we have to do something, if we don't, we'll be seen as weak,"
"Let me think about it," Lexa says and Clarke nods. "Now can we please enjoy the sunrise."
"Yes."
Wells's P.O.V
Wells runs around the village with Murphy and Harper beside him. Behind him Jasper and Monty ran both of them sweating and panting. In front of them was Abby, Aurora, Sinclair, and Wick and at the front was Kane, Miller, Bellamy and David. "How many more laps, Octavia?" Murphy asks as sweat went down his forehead.
"6," Octavia says making Jasper and Monty groan.
"You guys are getting beat by a bunch of old people," Abby says.
"Shut up," Murphy says. They stop running when a horse comes into camp.
"Come here," Octavia says to them and they walk over to her. "You are back, Nick."
"Yes," Nick says as he climbs off his horse. "We are going to war with Azgeda."
"How did that happened?" Indra asks.
"The Commander will explain when you all get there," Nick says.
"I thought we were supposed to stay here," Kane says.
"You were until it was decided to start a war. This would be an easy place for Azgeda to attack right now and you all need to be safe so you will be moved to the capital until the war is over. Everybody," Nick says. "Indra the Commander wants you to ride to Tondc and gather your army and then come to Polis."
Indra nods. "Alright, every pack. I guess we're going to Tondc."
Jake's P.O.V
Jake walked into the throne room and looked at Anya, Clarke, Gustus and Raven as they stared at the map on the table. "Nia has to know that we are coming for her," Clarke says. "She'll probably line the border with guards, try to stop us from even entering Azgeda."
"All we have to do is making a small hole and get behind them. Nia isn't going to go down without a fight."
"No she's going to send everything she has at us," Gustus says.
"Azgeda is the second largest Territory," Clarke says as she looks at the map. "Multiple clans lead into Azgeda but she is going to put the must guards near the Trikru part of the border."
"Yeah. That is the way we'll go," Anya says.
"It shouldn't be," Clarke says.
"If we go a different way, Nia will just move the guards there," Raven says.
"Maybe not," Clarke says. "All Azgeda warriors are either being rounded up and thrown in cells and they are running back to Azgeda. She won't have many scouts, so what if we send two groups of soldiers."
"You want to decide our forces that will make sure we lose this war," Anya growls.
"I don't want to devide us, I want to send a sizeable force towards the Trikru and Azgeda border. While that is happening, we'll take our real army, and march on another side of the border, tearing through those guards and getting it."
"The force you sent to the Trikru and Azgeda border will die. You are sending them to their deaths," Anya tells her. "But it is a good plan."
"You're suggesting sacrificing hundreds if not thousands of our soldiers," Jake says as he walks up to the table.
"This is war, Dad. People are going to die, this is a good way to die, giving their lives so we can get into Azgeda," Clarke says. "You're the general, Anya. What is your choice?"
"As long as Lexa agrees, We'll do it," Anya says. "That is all for now."
They nod as Raven, Anya, and Gustus leave. "You're really okay with this?" Jake asks his daughter.
"We are at war, Dad. I am making sure that we can save as many people as possible," Clarke says.
"By sacrificing others?" Jake asks.
"Lexa once told me that Victory stands on the back of sacrifice," Clarke says softly. "We have to win," Clarke says before she leaves the room.
Roan's P.O.V
Roan sat in the room that he was given. He looks at the door as it opened and Lexa walked in. "How can I help you, Heda?" Roan asks.
"I need to ask you some questions, and I need honest answers," Lexa says and Roan nods. "Do you know how Costia was trained."
"Yes, just because I was banished doesn't mean I didn't know what was happening. She was trained in archery, to fight with every weapon, to fight with both hands. She is better with her right. But she isn't bad with her left," Roan says. "Why?"
"We are considering taking one of her arms," Lexa tells Roan who nods.
"Can I be honest with you for a moment, Commander? Without you killing me?" Roan asks Lexa who nods. "Costia wasn't lying. The girl you loved, she is dead. The woman in that room is not her, so stop thinking about her like that. Stop seeing her like that because that isn't here. That woman, she is ruthless."
"She had no choice," Lexa says.
"She did," Roan growls. "She had so many chances to escape from my mother. I know she saw you multiple times over the years and she could have run to you and you would have protected her. She didn't stay with my mother because she was scared. She did it because she enjoyed it. She enjoyed spying, and killing people. She enjoyed slitting Titus's throat. She enjoys taking someone's life. She enjoyed the power. Now maybe she is redeemable but if you want her to change, you need to show her that there are consequences to what she has done," Roan says. Lexa nods as she leaves the room.
Clarke's P.O.V
Clarke sat at her desk in her room looking at a map of Azgeda that she had in her desk. She looks at the door as there is a knock. "Come in," Clarke says. The door opens and Wells comes in. "Hi," Clarke says with a grin. "When did you guys get here."
"About an hour ago, Anya greeted us. I asked Jake where your room was," Wells says. "Since you didn't come to greet us."
"Sorry, I'm helping Lexa plan the attack against Azgeda," Clarke says.
"I figured that would be Anya's job. Isn't she her general?" Wells asks as he sits down.
"She is, she is also assembling the armies, and she is also helping planning the attack but she is busy so Lexa asked me to help," Clarke says. Wells nods. "I promise you, once this is over, we're going to spend a whole day together catching up."
"Don't feel bad, Clarke. You're busy, you're the Commander's second, the ambassador for Skaikru. Possibly the Commander's girlfriend," Wells says and Clarke blushes. "You are?"
"Yes, we got together after we came back," Clarke says.
"I need to tell you something," Wells says after a moment. "Clarke, I love you. I have loved you must of our lives, and I know you don't feel the same but I wanted you to know."
Clarke nods. "You're right, I don't feel the same. I love you, Wells. Just not like that," Clarke says.
"I know," Wells says. "So you and the Commander."
"Yes, I've never felt this way about anybody, Wells. I think I love her."
"Good, she seems pretty amazing and only you would go for the strongest woman in the world."
"What can I say, I'm ambitious," Clarke says with a smirk. Wells chuckles as Clarke stands. "I'm going to give you a tour."
"Alright," Wells says as he stands and the door opens and Lexa walks in. She stops when she sees Wells.
"I did not realize you have company," Lexa says.
"He knows," Clarke says. "Either we're bad at hiding it or he knows me to well."
"I know her too well," Wells says. Lexa nods.
"I ask that you keep this to yourself for now, with a war coming. If people knew that Clarke and I were together, she would become a larger target than she already is," Lexa says and Wells nods.
"Of course, Commander," Wells says.
"I was just about to give Wells a tour," Clarke tells her girlfriend.
"Can it wait? It's time, I've already talked with the others," Lexa says to Clarke who looks at Wells.
"Deal with what you need to, find me after," Wells tells Clarke who nods as he leaves.
"Are you sure?" Clarke asks Lexa who nods.
"It has to be done."
Costia's P.O.V
Costia sat with her back against the headboard. She looks at the door as it opens and Clarke, Lexa, Luna, Anya, Gustus, and Lincoln walk in. "Are we having a party?" Costia asks with a smirk.
"Know that I am sorry," Lexa says as Gustus and Lincoln walk up to her and grab her.
"What the hell are you doing?! Let me go!" Costia shouts at them as Gustus kicks her legs in front of the table in front of the couch. She falls to her knees as Luna grabs her right arm and holds it across the table. Costia's eyes widen as she realizes what is about to happen.
"No, don't. Please, Lexa, don't do this to me, I'll die," Costia says.
"I'll save you," Clarke says.
"If you still have any love for me, you will not do this, Lexa please," Costia cries out as Lincoln, Gustus, Anya, and Luna hold her down.
"I have to, there has to be consequences for your actions," Lexa says as she removes her sword.
"If you do this I will hate you forever, do you hear me you stupid bitch. I WILL HATE You!" Costia shouts in rage as Lexa raises her sword but hesitates. Clarke lays her hand on her shoulder.
"Let me do it," Clarke says.
"I have too."
"No, you don't, you're not alone anymore Lexa. Let me share your burdens," Clarke says as she lays her hand on the hilt of the sword and Lexa nods as she let's her sword go and Clarke takes it.
"You can't even do it yourself! YOU WEAK BITCH! YOU HAVE TO LET YOUR BLOND SLUT DO IT!" Costia shouts. Clarke raises the sword above her head. "YOU'RE WEAK LEXA!" Clarke brings the sword down.
Thanks for reading. Yes Costia lost her arm. I thought about it and It isn't realistic that she wouldn't face any consequences for her actions. I mean she killed a Flamekeeper. So next chapter Clarke saves Costia as they continue to prepare for war. There will be no upload Friday. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed.
