Campaign Against Liu Biao

Sun Jian was ready as he rode with his forces and retainers, as well as both his sons, all ready to face Liu Biao, scouts had been sent out and they were marching into Liu Biao's lands, ready for battle once the scouts returned to make their report. He did not have to wait long as soon the scouts were back and were quickly reporting what they had seen.

"Lord Sun Jian, Liu Biao is expecting us it seems." One said. "He has set up three garrisons to protect Xiangyang Castle by blocking three routes between us and there."

Another then added. "We've found that they're also using a garrison to the North as a supply base."

"They are trying to bring up reinforcements through the river, a dock to the south of here is being held by them for that purpose." The third and final scout said.

Sun Jian nodded. "Alright...let's make the most of this, we'll split into three forces and tackle each garrison, the North and South units can tackle the supply base and dock too while the central force will move on to take Jiangxia before we all regroup to go and attack Xiangyang."

They all cheered and soon they were set up and prepared to begin. It was decided that Sun Jian and Huang Gai would attack the central garrison and go to Jiangxia, Sun Ce and Sun Jiang would attack the Northern Garrison and supply base, Sun Quan was serving within the army under his older brother.

"You hear that Quan, just stick close to me and you'll make it through this no trouble." Ce said to his brother with a smile.

Quan just nodded. "Of course brother, I look forward to learning from you."

Finally, Cheng Pu and Han Dang would attack the dock and southern garrison while Zhu Zhi would hold the rear guard and provide aid where needed, with everything set and their armies all ready, they began to head out, ready to begin their conflict.

Riding towards the supply base first, Sun Ce smiled as he hefted his Great Sickle.

"Uncle, you ready for this?" He asked, his enthusiasm obvious.

Sun Jing nodded. "Lead the way Ce, Quan and I will be right behind you."

Quan was anxious however. "This is a supply base brother, it'll be well guarded."

"True, but don't worry, we're going to be launching a sneak attack." Ce revealed.

He quickly passed on orders and soon things were prepared for the sneak attack as Sun Jing rode out alone towards the supply base. He began hurling taunts at the defenders who were getting frustrated, finally, the leader of the supply base forces, Su Fei, an officer of Liu Biao, gave the order to attack and teach Sun Jing a lesson. The doors opened and the unit began to charge out, Su Fei himself in the lead.

"Now!" Sun Jing cried.

More cries answered this and the ambush was sprung which left Su Fei and his men in disarray and many were felled and soon Su Fei fled while Sun Ce and his forces set fire to the supply base, knowing that when word spread that the supplies were destroyed, Liu Biao's forces would be demoralized. Buoyed up by their success, Sun Ce led his forces towards the first garrison and found that the smoke from the flames had been seen by those in said garrison, Kuai Yu and Kuai Liang were leading their forces out to try and aid their comrades, but Sun Ce and his forces were not ready to back down and soon both forces clashed.

Meanwhile, during this time, Cheng Pu led his forces to the dock, his friend and ally Han Dang surprisingly wasn't with him, but regardless, he pressed on. Soon he reached the dock and saw that Liu Biao's officer, Yi Ji was stationed there with his forces.

Seeing them Yi Ji cried out. "Sun Jian's forces, quickly, form defences, do not let them get close!"

"I think not, we have something else in mind." Cheng Pu called back before ordering his men. "Archers!"

With that the archers that been waiting for their chance immediately began to fire and soon Yi Ji's men were trapped and being mowed down under the arrows until Cheng Pu charged right at Yi Ji who quickly deflected the blow from Cheng Pu's double pike with his sword.

"Such strength." He gasped.

Cheng Pu raised his weapon again, turning his horse to face Yi Ji. "Come, face me."

He attacked again and again, but Yi Ji was unable to fight back effectively and, seeing it was a lost cause, he gave the order and he and his surviving forces fled for their lives.

"Excellent, alright, archers, hold the dock, don't let any of Liu Biao's forces land, use the fire arrows." Cheng Pu ordered.

They got into position and Cheng Pu led the rest of his forces to the second garrison. Sure enough, as planned, Han Dang was already launching an attack on the garrison and putting pressure on Huo Jun and Xu Si who held the garrison, at least until their composure broke when Cheng Pu then appeared to join in the attack on the garrison.

Finally, Sun Jian and Huang Gai led their forces towards the central garrison, led by Cai Mao and Wang Can who already had their forces stationed on the walls and were firing arrows and throwing rocks down on them.

"They're determined I'll give them that." Sun Jian remarked sardonically.

Huang Gai laughed. "Ha, this just makes it more fun, so, we use defensive shields while besieging them?"

Sun Jian nodded in acceptance of the plan and they spread the word, leading to the siege beginning. It took a while but finally, after some effort, the Sun forces broke through the gates and at Sun Jian's order, they all charged, breaking into the garrison and fighting through the Liu Biao forces. Already seeing the danger approaching, Cai Mao and Wang Can turned and fled, leaving their forces in disarray and barely a handful escaped.

"Ah my Lord, that was just too easy." Huang Gai remarked.

Sun Jian nodded. "Yes, well, we're making good progress, let's go on to Jiangxia and deal with things there so we can regroup with the others and begin the final attack."

Huang Gai nodded and they advanced, a newfound fervour consuming them, but for some reason Sun Jian couldn't fathom, he had a strange feeling of disquiet.
