Hi Readers: Sorry for the extra round of drama last chapter, but I decided that I didn't want Antonio there after all. Rather, I wanted Matt and Gabby to just have some time alone with each other. Time where they can hold each other and truly celebrate the fact that they're having a baby. That, and have some honest conversations with each other about their future; and where it will be.

Chapter Eleven
Ringing in the New Year at Home, Part 2

Drama. It seems to follow them everywhere they go. But now, the drama was much closer to home as it was between her and her brother; the brother she loves more than anything and just wants the best for. And the best most certainly isn't Sylvie, as she's toxic in his eyes. Which is precisely why she doesn't want her anywhere their family, their growing family; after all, she is pregnant with her and Matt's child. She's pregnant by that gorgeous, sexy, handsome, box-clad husband of hers; the husband who was currently standing at his dresser as he put some of the cologne she got for him as a Christmas gift. "You like that Christmas gift I got for you?" Turning his head to face Gabby, Matt smiled as he most certainly does like the Christmas gift that she got for him this year. "I like all of my Christmas gifts." Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt as she's well aware of his favorite one. "I already know your favorite one." Matt snickered, as he already knew which one she was talking about; especially since that gift most certainly was his favorite gift of all.

The baby. The fact that she was pregnant with their first child.

Sure, he may have gotten it a few days after Christmas (today); but that doesn't mean that he still doesn't consider it his Christmas gift, due to the fact that it's just that good. Matt wants Gabby to be pregnant with their first child, and that's precisely what she is. She's pregnant with their baby, which has always been a dream of theirs. "It's a dream come true. I've always wanted to be a father to our child, and now you're pregnant with our little baby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "And as we celebrated the news, the drama came back." Matt sighed, as that was probably the thing he hated the most. The fact that they celebrated this awesome news tonight, while also dealing with drama. Drama that was created by her. By Sylvie. The last person who Matt wants to be thinking about right now but is thinking about due to the fact that he has a bad feeling that they weren't done dealing with her at all. "Yeah, I just hope that things go smoothly this time." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling at her husband.

Her baby daddy. God, that's a title that she's wanted to give Matt forever. Daddy.

And by next Christmas, that's precisely what he's going to be; he's going to be the best daddy in the entire world to this little one she's pregnant with. While, at the same time, he's also going to continue being an incredible lover to her; one who teases her all the time, just like he is right now as he walked around their room in his tight boxers. However, it seemed like he wasn't coming back to bed; rather, he was on his way to his closet. The reason why he was headed to his closet? Gabby had no idea. "Why are you going to your closet babe? I hope you didn't get me another gift just because I gave you this gift." Matt snickered, as that was the last thing he did. "No, I was just grabbing something from my jeans that I forgot to grab." Confused, Gabby looked at the man of her dreams. "And what might that be?" Reaching into his hamper, Matt grabbed his jeans and then took his phone and wallet out. After which, he turned around and showed Gabby what he grabbed. "Forgot to grab these from my pockets." Gabby smirked, as she knew why he forgot.

She distracted him tonight. She distracted him by doing something that he enjoyed.

More specifically, the way she teased him was the reason why he forgot to take those items out of his pockets; but now, that's precisely what he did (as he also carried them towards his dresser). Because that's where he keeps them, on his dresser. "By the way, did you already replace all the credit cards, etc. from the fire?" Turning to look at his wife, Matt smiled and nodded as he most certainly did replace all of his credit cards, etc. which he lost in the fire. "I had to get a whole new wallet, and I made sure to get that in order before I got you here. I'm sorry about that by the way, I know that I should've called you sooner…" Taking a breath, Matt sighed. "I just needed to get my life in order before I did that. Hell, I'm still getting my life in order." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that he was still trying to get settled. Trying to put his life back in order. She just hopes that she can help him, because she hopes he knows that she still plans on doing that. She plans on helping him in whatever say she can help the man she loves.

After all, they are married. And that means that you need to work together at times. And right now, this is one of those times; especially when they both need to be on the same page, while she's pregnant with their child. "I'm just glad that we decided to come home." Matt agreed with Gabby as he made his way over to his side table, while also looking down at the woman of his dreams. The woman he loves more than anything in the entire world and can't wait to join in bed once more. The woman he wants to hold close to him as they end the year in bed. "Just a quick reminder, shift isn't tomorrow." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that. "I know, I'm just glad that I get to go in with you." Matt snickered, as that was always going to happen. She was always going to go into shift with him. "Oh, that was going to happen the minute I learned that you were pregnant with our little one." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, especially since that's precisely who she's pregnant with at the moment.

Their little one. Their firstborn (of many) child(ren) which they hope to have with each other.

Anyways, it's not like there's anywhere she'd rather be when he's on shift. "I want to be there anyways. I want to be there, on shift with you as you flex your muscles for me." Matt smirked as Gabby said that, before flexing for her a bit as a way to play with her; and boy did that make Gabby laugh, especially as she looked at the man of her dreams. The man she loves more than anything in the entire world, and who she wants to have hold her in bed right now. She wants to feel him get in bed with her, as they both hold each other close and just take it easy with each other. "I hope you know that you walking around like that is a huge turn on, along with the flexing." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, while also noticing that his phone was flashing as he sat down on his side of the bed. "Sorry, text message." Grabbing his phone, Matt saw that it was a text from his sister. 'Happy New Year to you and Gabby from me and Violet..' Smiling, Matt texted back. 'Same to you.' Matt then proceeded to set his phone down, ready to get in bed.

However, that didn't mean that he wasn't done talking about the text that he just got as his wife was curious as to why he just smiled the way he did. "Ok. What's going on and why did you just smile like that?" Slipping into bed, Matt glared at Gabby as it seemed like she was jealous. "Seriously? Are you jealous right now?" Biting her lip as she looked at Matt, Gabby nodded. "Maybe a little." Matt snickered as Gabby said that, before laying down on his back and reaching for the TV remote so that he can turn on a NYE show. "I'm serious though, who was it?" Matt smirked, as he decided to play with his wife. "Oh, just one of my blondes." Gabby stared at her husband as he said that, before sitting up and looking down at Matt. "Matt, I swear to god. You better not be." Matt just glared at his wife. "SERIOUSLY! Can you not take a joke Gabby? I'm your husband and you're pregnant with our baby! God, it was my sister!" Gabby then realized that she was being a real idiot right now. God, that was so stupid, and she has a lot to apologize for.

After all, Matt isn't a cheater; especially not when she's pregnant with their child. So, she decided to do that right away by getting close to him and asking him to lay down on his side. "Baby, can you lay down on your side for me? I want to talk for a minute." Matt agreed with his wife as she told him that, well aware of what she really wants to do. And that would be to apologize to him, something he already knew based solely on the way that she was looking at him at the moment. She had regret and sorrow in her eyes, which is the last way he wants to make his wife feel right now. After all, he was just joking. But still, he decided to get close to her so that he could make sure that she was okay at the end of the day; because that's what she needs to be right now, she needs to be okay due to the fact that she's pregnant with their first child. God, he still can't believe that. They're having a baby with each other. He's going to be a dad. All thanks to this gorgeous woman that he has the honor of sharing his life with.

His wife. The love of his life, and the only woman he ever wants to be with as they raise their family.

They're going to do this together, which is something that they both already know better than anybody; that they're in this life together, especially since they're moving to Puerto Rico together. But, right now, that's the last thing that's on either of their mind; as right now, all they want to concentrate on is each other. The way they want to hold each other as they just relax and take it easy with each other in bed. They just don't know whether that includes sex or not, not that it needs to include sex; as Matt would be more than happy to just take it easy and relax with her, here in the comfort of their bed as they spoke with each other. Spoke about all the changes that are coming to their life next year. How they're going to be parents, how they're moving to Puerto Rico. God, it's just a lot and he's oh so happy that he gets to do it with Gabby by his side. After all, she's his partner in life. The only woman he wants to have by his side for all of this. All the stress that might come with this life, he wants Gabby to be there to help him through it.

And that's precisely what Gabby wants to do as well, because that's her job as his wife. Her job is to help support her husband during good times and bad, especially when they lost their home, which is the entire reason why they're pregnant in the first place. Had she not come home, then this wouldn't be their reality. She wouldn't be pregnant, nor would her husband be moving with her to Puerto Rico. This truly is a dream come true, and it makes her extremely happy that Matt's decided to uproot his entire life just so that they can be together during this time. "I already said thanks, right baby?" Looking at his (beautiful) wife, Matt was a bit confused as he got even closer to her than he was before; after which, he wrapped his arm around her back and just held her close to him. Meanwhile, Gabby placed her hands on his muscular chest and just smiled as she was incredibly happy at the moment. She was happy to be here in bed with the man she loves, the man she's absolutely crazy for as they start this new journey with each other.

Their journey. Because that's what this is. This is their journey, and you guys are just along for the ride.

Nobody is going to tell them what they can and can't do, because that's up to the both of them when it comes to what they can do. It's their life, and they're going to choose how to live it; and right now, they're spending some quality alone time with each other, as they cuddle up to one another and just hold each other close in bed. While, at the same time, they also share some sweet kisses with each other. Kisses that Gabby certainly does enjoy due to the fact that Matt's lips are so smooth and delicious. And even better, they're all hers for the rest of her life. "Did I ever tell you just how happy it makes me that I'm the woman that gets to kiss those soft lips of yours all the time?" Matt smiled, agreeing with Gabby as she most certainly did. Hell, she always tells him that due to the fact that she wants to remind him that she always wants him to kiss her. I mean, he wants to kiss her too; but not as much as her, which is probably due to the hormones that come with being pregnant with their first child. Hormones which Matt created by getting her pregnant.

Hormones he loves. I mean, how can he not love the hormones, when it means that he gets more time like this?

Time in bed with the woman of his dreams, where they're holding each other close and just cuddling up to each other like they are right now; it's precisely what they both want all the time. And right now, they're both extremely comfortable as they just take it easy and just relax with each other here in bed. She will do this each and every day for the rest of her life is that's what Matt wants, though she knows that isn't practical due to the fact that (a) Matt still has a job here in Chicago, (b) they're moving to Puerto Rico and need to pack, and (c) they want to hang out with their friends while they still can. They want to be with them, until they need to leave to go to Puerto Rico. "So, just curious. What are we thinking for a timeline for moving?" Matt sighed as Gabby asked him that question, as he knew that they had to talk about it. "I know, we need to figure that out at some point." Gabby agreed with Matt as she cuddled up to him some more, while he wrapped his arm around her and placed his hand on the back of her head to keep her close.

Something else which she most certainly loves. I mean, how can you not love being held by close by your husband?

However, she doesn't love it simply due to the fact that it's sexy; though, that most certainly is one of the reasons. The other being that it makes her feel safe, it makes her feel protected, and it makes her feel happy. That's precisely how she feels when she's in Matt's arms like she is at the moment, all cuddled up to Matt under the covers; however, she wasn't dressed the way she wants to be. So, she decided to ask Matt to do something for her. "Matt, can you do me a favor?" Matt nodded as he moved his hand to the back of Gabby's head once more, while also leaning in and kissing her softly. "And what might that be?" Slipping closer to her husband, Gabby wrapped her arm around his neck and smirked. "Can you take off my bra for me?" Smirking, Matt agreed with Gabby as he most certainly can (and will) take off her bra for her. That's something he'll always do for her. "Oh, I can and most certainly will take it off for you." Grabbing the bra strap on Gabby's bra, Matt smirked as he unclipped it and then tugged on it. "Off, please."

Matt agreed with Gabby, taking off her bra for her just as he was told to do. Plus, this is quite sexy; the way he's touching her right now, as he held her close to his chest in the comfort of their bed. It's truly perfect, and precisely what the both of them want to do right now. They want to hold each other close, as they just take it easy with each other and relax. And if that's all they need to do in order to be happy with each other, then that's precisely what they're going to do. They're going to take it easy and be happy with each other, especially now that Gabby's bra was on the ground; meanwhile, Matt was running his fingers up and down her bra as he kissed his wife softly. And damn did Gabby love the feeling of his soft lips on hers, it was just so magical, and it made her very happy to be in this life with Matt. "So, what's on your mind right now Gabby?" Gabby sighed, as she hated how well he can read her. "God, I hate how well you can read me." Matt shook his head, as he knew that was a lie. "We both know that's a lie." Gabby nodded, smiling at Matt.

After all, she loves the fact that Matt can read her. She loves the way he can hold her close right when she needs to be held, without her needing to ask him; he can just tell that something's wrong and that she needs him to hold her. But now, she's doing better with that; and she's starting to ask her husband to talk more. "Sorry, I guess I just have a lot on my mind." Matt nodded. "The baby, the move." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, about that." Matt nodded, just looking at his wife as he could see that something was wrong. "Is everything okay Gabby? If you want to push up the move date and not have me do my last shift, then we can." Gabby sighed, as that wasn't what she was thinking. Rather, she was thinking of something more practical. Something more related to the last time she was pregnant, and the quality of hospital that she wants. "I guess, all this pregnancy stuff has just got me thinking." Matt agreed with his wife, deciding to listen to her. "Listen, I don't want to decide alone."

That was good, and exactly what Matt wanted. He wanted them to make decisions together, and they will.

Something which he plans on telling his wife. "Good, I'm glad. Because last time I checked, we already decided that we were going to make decisions together." Gabby agreed with matt as he said that, before sighing. "Listen, can I just tell you what's on my mind?" Matt nodded as he ran his hand up and down Gabby's side, well aware that his wife is worried about something; he just doesn't know what that is. "What is it Gabby? Talk to me." Gabby agreed, more than ready to do just that. "Yeah, I want to talk as well. I just want to say things right not to scare you, but I also need to make sure that I don't shade the reality of Puerto Rico." Matt agreed with his wife as he ran his fingers up and down her back, with the hopes of getting her to relax, which it most certainly is helping. "What do you mean by that babe? How can you talk to me about the truth of Puerto Rico." Gabby sighed. "It's the hospitals." Matt then realized what she was starting to think about. "Oh." Gabby sighed as she looked at her husband. "Matt, they aren't in a good place yet."

Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, clearly able to see the concern in her eyes. "And that worries you?" Gabby nodded, as it did worry her. "Listen, I know that the baby is IUP. And I know that we don't have to worry about all that this time around, as there is a baby this time." Matt nodded; well aware those facts were all true. "However, I just don't know why but…I'm just nervous about going there pregnant." Matt sighed, agreeing with Gabby; especially since he's starting to feel the same way. "The truth is, I have been wondering the same thing myself Gabby. Listen, I wanted to do it for you. I wanted to move there and just be happy with you. And I promise, I would be happy with you; because I have the woman of my dreams in my arms, and we're having a baby." Gabby smiled. "But, it's also a lot different there. And I am just worried, especially with our first child. Gabby, I know you want to go back. And I know we want to do it as well….but I don't know if I'm honestly comfortable going back." Gabby agreed with Matt.

After all, she was feeling the same way. She was nervous about them going back, while she's still pregnant.

And she wasn't going to hide those sentiments from her husband. "Listen, I don't want to pretend anymore and say that I'm not scared. The truth is, I am scared and worried about all of it. I don't know what would happen, or how it would all work out. I am still open to going, but I think I'm also open to staying. I know what I said a couple weeks ago, how I thought it'd be good for you to get out of Chicago and start fresh; how it'd be good for the both of us. And that can still happen, just maybe not right now?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Maybe this was faith. I mean, the fire brought me home and made me realize that I need to be with you. Maybe the baby is making me realize that my home is here in Chicago, with you. I mean, we did already say that we were going to pack up my things and move them home." Matt smirked, loving the sound of that. "I mean, I want us to make this decision together." Gabby agreed with her husband as she placed her hand on the side of Matt's face, before kissing him softly.

And damn did Matt love the feeling of her lips on his. It truly is paradise, and exactly what he wants right now.

He wants to feel Gabby's soft lips on his, as they took things nice and slow with each other; here in the comfort of their bed. And he wants to be there for the woman he loves, for the rest of his life. However, it also means that they need to find a new place. "You know what this means, right?" Gabby was confused. "And what does this mean?" Matt smirked. "Well: (a) we need to ask your brother to go get your things, as you aren't flying while pregnant; and (b) we need to find our own place, as we can't live here while you're pregnant. Oh, and I need to tell Chief that I'm not leaving after all and that he can cancel his search for a new Lieutenant." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling as she got close to the man of her dreams while kissing him slowly. "Call him right now, let him know that you're not leaving after all. Then, we can tell my brother too." Matt agreed with his wife, smiling as he went to do just that: he called Boden to tell him that there's a chance of plans, and he called Antonio to let him know that they're staying.

Laying down on Matt's chest with her arms wrapped tight around his muscular torso and her head on his heart, Gabby smiled as she cuddled up to her hunk of a husband (and the father of her child) as they held each other close in bed; with Matt running his fingers up and down her back, while also turning his head and pressing his lips to her forehead. And god, this truly is perfect. It's exactly what he wants, especially when it comes to them staying here. Something that his best friend didn't believe as he walked up to their door. "YOU'RE KIDDING!" Looking at Severide, Matt placed his hand on the back of Gabby's head before pressing his lips to her forehead. "Can you keep it down? Gabby's resting right now. She's had a long day full of drama." Gabby agreed as she just breathed and held her husband close to her this evening, while Kelly sighed. "Yeah, I know. But quick question, are you serious with the news?" Matt smiled, nodding as he ran his hand up and down Gabby's back. "We want to give birth here in Chicago, because of the quality of the hospital."

Taking a breath, Gabby ran her hand down his chest. "We just want to make sure that Gabby has the best doctors, as well as the best outcome after last time. Regardless of the fact that she doesn't have an aneurysm…" Kelly already understood. "She's still scared." Matt agreed with his best friend as he said that, well aware that was the case; after which, he turned his head and pressed his lips to Gabby's forehead once more. He also decided to grab the covers and tug them up on top of the both of them as a way to keep her warm. "You cold?" Gabby shook her head as she cuddled up to Matt. "Just a bit tired. I know, I should stay awake for the ball drop, but what time is it?" Turning his head, Matt looked at the time. "it's only 8:30, believe it or not." Gabby agreed with Matt as she ran her hand down his chest, very comfortable as she cuddled up to the man of her dreams here in the comfort of their bed. The bed which is going to be theirs (for now), as this isn't permanent. "Kelly don't worry. We're moving out by Spring." Matt was surprised.

So much so, he turned his head and looked down at his wife. "Spring?" Gabby nodded as she laid her head down again. "I want to be able to help paint the nursery and get things ready, which means that I need to do it in my second trimester; I can't do it in my third trimester when I want to take it easy and relax instead." Matt agreed with his wife, as that made a lot of sense. Of course, she's going to want to help. "I promise though, I'm going to be safe so that I can meet the baby. Kelly here's going to make sure that happens." Turning her head, Gabby glared at Kelly. "If you don't, then you're dead meat and I don't give you my blessing to marry Stella." Kelly laughed. "I don't need your…" Turning her head, Gabby glared at Kelly in a way that always scared him. After all, that's what Gabby does best, she scares people. "I'm going to go now." Gabby agreed. "Good idea, because if not you need to hear me having sex with my husband." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, while pressing his lips to her forehead. "Getting a second wind?"

Rolling over, Matt smirked as he wanted his wife; while Kelly didn't want to see that, so he just left. Meanwhile, Matt bent down and kissed the woman he loves. "God, I love that we're staying in Chicago." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before placing her hand on his face and smiling as she started to take things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. The father of her child. And the love of her life, as that's precisely what Matt is. He's her loving husband, the father of her child, and the love of her life. "No sex tonight baby. I just want to take it slow with you. Not sexy slow, but just kisses." Matt agreed with Gabby as he rolled over onto his side, he smiled as he tugged his wife close to him; while also wrapping his arms around her as he made sure that they were close to one another here in the comfort of their bed. Meanwhile, Gabby placed her hand on his face and smiled as she started to take things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything. "This is crazy, and a huge change." Matt agreed with his wife.

After which, he decided to ask her the question that's on his mind at the moment.

Whether she's truly okay with the decision they made just now, or if she feels like they need to talk about it some more?

And that's precisely what Matt did. "Just curious, are you okay with the decision we just made? Or do you feel like we need to talk about it some more?" Gabby bit her lip as Matt asked her that question. "Can we talk about it? I feel like we just need to make sure that we talk more, so that we can have a healthy marriage for the baby. And there's other things we need to figure out." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that, before placing his hand on the side of her neck. After which, he leaned in and kissed her softly. "Like what, might I ask?" Gabby sighed as she placed her hand on his arm and looked into Matt's eyes. The eyes she loves to look into due to the fact that they mesmerize her and make her fall in love with him all over again. And she truly means that, as he's the love of her life. And that all starts with her kissing him again, while also answering his question. "I want to talk about what we want when it comes to the living situation. We both know that this isn't permanent; but, what does the future hold when it comes to the type of home? Do you want to do a condo, duplex, semi-detached? What are you thinking when it comes to our new home, which is a must?"
