Chapter 30: Stuck On Mustafar
We then see the planet of Mustafar.
Sam groaned as he slowly woke up in a room.
"Oh, my head", Sam groaned as he placed his hand on his forehead.
He slowly sat up and looked at his surroundings. Sam then went wide-eyed as he knew where he was now.
He was in the Fortress of Vader.
He whispered, "oh shit…."
"Master Sam!"
Sam turned to see One-One sitting on a bedside table.
Sam said, "One-One! What happened?"
One-One said, "Malakis knocked you out by throwing you through a window. Vader brought you here to tend to your wounds. He wants to set you free, but Malakis said he'll kill you if he tries to free you."
Sam went wide-eyed.
He asked, "Vader…. Did all that?"
"Yes Master Sam", One-One said.
Sam was shocked to hear all that.
"You're awake."
Sam froze as he saw Vader enter the room.
Vader said, "I hope you slept well."
Sam still felt scared at the presence of Vader.
He scooted away.
Vader sighed and said, "I wish I could let you leave right now. But Malakis has eyes on me."
"One-One did tell me", Sam said.
Vader said, "I see."
Vader walked towards Sam.
Sam said, "stay back."
"There's no need to be scared Sam", Vader said.
Sam scoffed, "yeah right…."
Vader sighed, he knew Sam wouldn't trust him after what happened with Obi Wan.
Vader sat down in a nearby chair and said, "I know how you feel about me. I've caused you and so many others so much pain…. When all is said and done…. I wish Obi Wan…. Your true father…. Had struck me down on the Death Star."
What Vader said took Sam by surprise.
It made Sam question everything he knew about Vader.
Sam asked, "you…. You truly mean everything you said."
Vader said, "more than anything."
Now that made Sam feel emotional. Vader…. Truly had changed. Tears fell down Sam's face.
Vader asked, "did I say something wrong?"
But then Vader was taken by surprise when Sam hugged him! Sam cried into Vader's shoulder. Vader then began to rub Sam's back.
Vader said, "I'll get you back to your friends somehow…. I promise."
Sam cried even more as he kept hugging Vader.
Vader soothed, "there there."
Sam cried out, "thank you! I'm…. I'm…. I'm…. So…. Sorry!"
Vader said, "it's okay. You have nothing to be sorry about."
Sam kept sobbing onto Vader's shoulders.
Vader patted Sam's head.
Vader began to rock Sam back and forth.
'Shhhhhh…. Shhhhhhhh….", Vader soothed.
Sam sniffled lightly.
"Shhhhhh…. Shhhhhh…. Shhhhh….", Vader soothed as he kept rocking Sam back and forth
Sam yawned, still tired from what happened on Cloud City.
Vader pats Sam's head. He carried Sam back over to his bed.
Vader then gently laid his son down on the bed and covered him up with the blanket.
Sam yawned and mumbled before he fell asleep, "g'night dad…."
Vader went wide-eyed when he heard that.
Did he hear that right?!
Did Sam just call him…. Dad?
After all this time?
Vader looked down at his son's sleeping face.
He smiled down at him. Vader then removed his mask and kissed Sam's forehead.
He then quietly left the room.
One-One stayed by Sam's side the entire time.
He was still very worried about his master.
He hoped Vader would find a way to help Sam….
….
Later….
Sam woke up. He yawned as he sat up.
Sam then saw on the beside was his Red pink bow. He smiled and put it back on.
He then remembered Vader and everything he said.
Vader had changed and wanted to help him, but if he tried anything, Malakis would kill him.
And he remembered calling Vader…. Dad…. That had been a shock to himself.
He just felt that….. Anakin…. His biological father…. Was still there….
After all this time, Sam once again believed Anakin Skywalker…. His father…. Could return.
Now that made Sam smile with happiness.
The doors to Sam's room opened.
Standing there were two women.
The first one was a Mirialan…. A very familiar one.
The second woman was very short and she only had a single eye.
Sam tilted his head in slight confusion.
Sam asked, "who are you?"
The one eyed woman said, "hi! I'm Nifty!"
Sam jumped a little, he could see Nifty was a woman filled with energy.
Sam looked at the Mirialan woman and asked, "who are you? You seem familiar?"
"My name is Barriss Offee."
Sam froze when he heard that.
Ahsoka had told him about Barriss and how she had framed Ahsoka for the bombing of the Jedi Temple.
Sam growled, "you're Barriss…?"
Barriss nods her head.
Sam was shocked to see her here.
Barriss asked, "I sense that you seem to know about me."
Sam nodded and said, "Ahsoka Tano told me about you."
Barriss asked, "wait, you know Ahsoka?"
Sam said, "she's my adopted mother."
Barriss went wide-eyed.
Sam walked over to One-One as he said, "she told me all about what you did to the Jedi temple…."
Barriss looked down in shame.
Sam asked, "what're you doing here? Working for da- Vader?"
Barriss then said quietly, "in a way, yes…. But actually…. I am a spy for the rebels."
Sam raised an eyebrow and asked, "is that so?"
"I truly feel regrets for everything I did to Ahsoka…. And all the lives that were lost during the bombing…. I have spent my whole life trying to seek redemption for my acts", Barriss said.
Sam's look grew a bit softer.
Nifty exclaimed, "Barriss truly means everything she says!"
Sam jumped from Nifty's yelling.
Sam then turned to look at Barriss.
Barriss looked down at her feet in shame.
"Then I will trust what you say", Sam said.
Barriss gave a shocked look.
But then she said, "thank you."
Sam gave a firm nod.
….
We then see Vader in his room.
He was holding his helmet in his hands.
He was in deep thought about what to do next.
He wanted to help his son escape.
But Malakis was probably keeping a close eye on him to make sure that didn't happen.
Vader and Sam were both seemingly stuck.
Then Vader heard a familiar voice….
"Anakin."
Vader froze when he heard that voice.
It was the voice of Obi Wan!
"Anakin…. Thank you…. For protecting Sam", Obi Wan's voice said.
Vader said, "but…. I didn't…. I've hurt him so much…."
"But Sam has finally learned to let go of his anger and hate towards you…. Anakin", Obi Wan's voice said.
Vader said, "I feel like I don't deserve it."
"Anakin…. Sam has always told me, he wanted to believe the good in you existed…. And it still does…. You are protecting him and doing the right thing… You have changed", Obi Wan's voice said.
Vader asked, "do you really think that?"
"I believe it…. Cause you are doing everything you can to protect Sam…. And I am grateful, my old friend", Obi Wan's voice said.
Vader began to cry.
Those words meant so much to Vader.
He cried, "I'm sorry for what I did…. I took you away from Sam…. From your family…."
Vader then felt a hand placed on his shoulder.
He saw the force ghost of Obi Wan.
Vader gasped in pure shock.
Obi Wan smiled at Vader.
He said, "I forgive you."
More tears began to fall down Vader's face.
Obi Wan patted Vader's shoulder.
Vader then cried, "I promise…. I will do everything I can…. To protect Sam."
Obi Wan smiled and said, "I know you will."
Tears kept falling down Vader's face.
Obi Wan said ,"also, I will tell you a bit more about Sam, since I sense he will come to your room soon."
Vader looked confused a little.
….
Later, knocking was heard on Vader's door.
Vader said, "come in."
Sam walked inside, he had a hairbrush in his hands.
Sam said, "um…. Can I ask you for something?"
Vader asked ,"sure Sam, what is it?"
Sam asked, "could you brush my hair?"
Vader looked a little surprised, but then he nodded his head.
Sam sat in front of Vader.
Sam hands the hairbrush to Vader, as he takes off his red bow.
Vader grabbed another chair and sat behind Sam.
He then began to brush Sam's hair.
Sam smiled lightly.
Vader kept brushing his son's hair.
The two felt a sense of calm.
Vader then asked ,"how do you feel Sam?"
Sam said, "okay, I guess…. I just miss my wife and husbands."
Vader asked, "you're married?"
Sam nods his head.
Vader asked, "to who?"
Sam then had One-One show Vader a photo of his husbands and wife.
Sam said, "here they are. Verosika, Adam, Alastor, Prime, Hordak and Lucifer."
Vader asked, "do they treat you well?"
Sam said, "they're amazing. So loving."
Vader could see Sam truly loved his husbands and wife.
Vader smiled and said, "I'm happy for you."
Sam had a surprised look on his face.
He was genuinely happy to hear that.
Vader kept brushing Sam's hair.
The two both smiled.
After a bit, Vader was done brushing Sam's hair.
Sam put his bow back on.
Sam turned to look at Vader and he said, "thank you…. Dad."
Vader smiled.
Then a familiar voice was heard.
"Vader! Where are you?"
Vader and Sam went wide-eyed!
It was Malakis!
Sam quickly hugged Vader in fear.
Vader put on a brave face.
The doors then opened.
"There you are!"
Sam whimpered in fear as he heard Malakis' voice.
Vader asked, "what is it?"
"I wanted to see how the little brat was doing…. And to my dismay…. He is doing well", Malakis said.
Sam and Vader glared at Malakis.
Sam then turned away when Malakis glared at him.
He hid his face into Vader's chest.
Vader said, "don't you have anything better to do?"
Malakis let out a few chuckles.
"Well I'll take my leave…. But remember Vader…. You know the consequences if you disobey me", Malakis said.
Vader nodded as he glared.
"Well, see you later? Brat", Malakis laughed as he walked away.
Sam kept hiding his face in Vader's chest.
Once the door closed, Sam dropped the frightened act and groaned, "I hate that guy."
"Me too", Vader said.
Sam straightened his bow and said, "it's gonna take months to be able to plan an escape."
"I promise…. I won't let him hurt you again", Vader said.
Sam smiled and said, "this time…. I believe you."
Sam then hugged Vader again.
Vader hugged back.
"Dad…. I forgive you", Sam said.
Vader gasped in shock.
"I spent these last three years filled with anger and hate…. For what happened on the death star…. But now I have let go of all those negative emotions…. Now that I see my biological father has good in him and has changed", Sam said as he looked up at Vader.
Vader teared up and smiled at his son.
Vader hugged Sam close to him.
Sam smiled up at his father.
"Sam…. I'm so proud of you, my child", Obi Wan's voice said.
Sam smiled when he heard that.
Sam felt Vader pat his head.
"It is true…. You have the gift of being adorable, Sam", Vader said.
Sam chuckled lightly.
Vader hugged his youngest son close to him.
Sam kept smiling.
Sam asked ,"so…. What can we do in the meantime?"
Vader said, "you could pick up a hobby. I've got a kitchen that I've barely used."
Now that got Sam interested.
He said, "show me to the kitchen…."
Vader then led Sam to the kitchen….
….
The kitchen was very large and full of various utensils.
Sam had a look of awe on his face.
Vader said, "it's fully stocked, but I hardly ever use it."
Sam's eyes kept sparkling in awe at the kitchen.
Vader said, "I hope it's pleasing."
"It is", Sam said.
Vader smiled.
He then pats Sam's head.
Sam gave a light chuckle.
"Well I'll leave you here…. If you need anything…. Just call me", Vader said.
"I will, thanks dad", Sam said.
Vader smiled as he left the room.
Sam then looked around the kitchen.
He felt like cooking.
"I can make any kind of food in here", Sam said.
Sam searched the cupboards.
There were a few things for him to make food with.
Sam began fishing out ingredients.
He then found some Blue milk in the fridge and it gave him an idea for what to make for dessert.
….
A few minutes later….
Sam said as he wiped his forehead, "phew! All done!"
Sam looked down at his handiwork.
He had made a fried tip yip and for dessert he had made a blue milk cake.
Sam said to himself, "tada!"
One-One rolled in and said, "I brought them…. Just like you asked me, Master Sam."
Sam said, "very good."
Vader, Barriss and Nifty walked inside.
Sam said, "I made dinner for us all."
Nifty exclaimed, "it looks great!"
Barriss said, "I didn't know you could cook."
"Well I can cook…. I just kept this to myself", Sam said.
Vader said, "well, I'm eager to dig in."
Sam smiled at his father.
Sam said, "then let's eat."
Everyone then sat down at the table.
Everyone began to dig in.
The others found the food to be delicious.
Sam was a great cook!
Barriss said ,"this is good!"
Nifty exclaimed, "really good!"
Sam smiled, but it grew bigger with what Vader said.
"This is the best thing I've eaten in years", Vader said.
Sam had tears in his eyes. He was so happy to hear that from Vader.
Sam rushed over to hug his father.
Vader happily hugged his father.
He pats Sam's head.
Sam smiled in joy.
….
Sam was then in his room with One-One, he was writing a message to his family and friends.
He wanted to make sure they knew he was doing okay.
"And done…. Send it to them One-One", Sam said.
One-One nodded and began to send the message.
Sam sat on his bed as he was thinking about the recent events.
He was basically trapped with his dad, his brother had lost a hand and learned the truth about their father.
That was quite a lot to take in.
But Sam was also happy to find out the good in his biological father still existed. At least there was that.
"The message has been sent Master Sam", One-One said.
Sam said, "good."
"I'll let you know when the others see the message", One-One said.
Sam smiled at his droid.
He then began to prepare for bed.
He went to the bathroom and did his nightly routine.
After a few moments he walked out.
Sam was in some red pajamas.
He then took off his bow and placed it on the bedside.
Sam yawned and got under his covers.
"Night One-One", Sam said.
One-One said, "good night, Master Sam."
Sam fell asleep….
….
We then see another room in the Fortress.
This was Barriss' room.
Barriss was sitting on her bed as she held a photo in her hands.
It was a photo of Ahsoka and Hunter that Sam had given her.
Barriss now felt something every time she saw the photo.
Her heart would race a mile a minute.
Barriss just didn't know if she could build up the courage.
She'd apparently started to have feelings for Hunter and Ahsoka.
Barriss sighed.
But she knew Ahsoka would probably despise her.
Barríss then puts the photo away.
She sighed and laid down on the bed.
As she fell asleep the last thing on her mind was about Ahsoka.
She hoped she could make things right.
….
We then see Sam with Vader.
It had been about a month into Sam's capture.
The two were still planning on how Sam would escape.
But it was hard, given the close eye Malakis kept on them.
But during Sam's time there…. He got to learn a few new things.
Namely how to sew.
Sam knew his mother would be proud of him.
He hoped to show her his handiwork after he found a way to escape.
Also…. His bond with Vader grew stronger everyday.
They had been slowly but surely working through their issues together.
Speaking of which…. Sam and Vader were able to feed info to the Rebellion.
This was their way of undermining Malakis.
Sam was at times able to speak with his friends and family.
They missed him very much.
And Sam felt the same as well.
He hoped it wouldn't take too long to return to them.
….
We then see Sam in his room, sewing some clothes
It had been yet another month into his capture.
His father had gone to his Star Destroyer as he was ordered to check something. Sam hummed as he sewed.
He was sewing something for his father…. He wanted to give him a gift.
"Well, well, well…. Look at you little Skybrat?"
Sam sighed and asked with closed eyes, "what do you want…?"
Sam then felt a hand wrap around his throat.
Sam opened his eyes as he stared into the face of Malakis.
Malakis growled ,"I grow really tired of you…. Why won't you show any fear!?"
Sam said, "cause you're a pathetic fool. You only beat me because of a lucky hit."
Malakis's yellow eyes glowed in anger…. He suddenly slapped Sam!
"One day…. Skybrat…. You will show fear…. And will regret having messed with me", Malakis growled.
Sam had fallen to the ground.
Sam groaned in pain, as he felt his nose was broken.
Sam quickly grabbed some tissues to stem the bleeding as Malakis turned to leave.
Sam quickly turned to look in the mirror and he saw his left cheek was red due to Malakis having slapped him.
He groaned, "that's gonna leave a mark."
Then the door to Sam's room opened again.
His father had walked in.
And he gasped when he saw Sam's nose was bleeding.
He ran over to Sam.
He asked, "what happened?"
"Malakis happened…. He slapped me and he threw me down to the floor in anger", Sam said.
Vader growled, "that bastard."
Vader went over to Sam and inspected his broken nose.
"Let's get you to the medbay", Vader said.
Sam nodded as Vader helped him up.
….
Sam yelped, "OW!"
Barriss was dressing Sam's wound.
She kept saying, "sorry."
Every time.
Vader was beside Sam and said, "we seriously have to figure out how to get you out of here before he does something worse."
Sam asked, "but how dad? He's constantly keeping an eye on us."
Vader said, "well…. It's in a few months…. But there is one day a year where Malakis puts himself into stasis. Basically his vacation."
Sam asked, "now that is weird…. But you think that could allow me to escape?"
"I'm positive", Vader said.
Sam said, "then we better mark the date."
Vader nods his head.
….
We see Sam as he walks to his dad's room.
He had finished sewing the cloth bracelet he made for his father.
He hoped his dad would like it.
Sam then knocks on the room door.
"Come in."
Sam walked inside eyes.
His dad was touching up his robotic arm.
"Dad…. I made something for you", Sam said.
Vader asked, "what did you make?"
Sam then showed his dad the cloth bracelet.
Vader looked at it in awe and slight confusion.
Sam then placed the cloth bracelet on his father's wrist.
Vader smiled and said, "it looks nice."
Sam smiled and hugged his father.
Vader hugged back warmly.
"I love you dad", Sam said softly.
Vader cried, "I love you too, son."
Sam felt tears fall down his face as he kept hugging his father.
'Oh my boy…. How it warms my heart to see you have finally forgiven Anakin', Obi Wan's voice said.
Sam smiled even more.
"Dad…. I don't know when the time comes for me to escape…. I'm not sure I can leave you behind", Sam said with tears in his eyes.
Vader said, "you must. You have so many people back with the Rebellion who miss you. Friends. Family."
"But dad…. You're my family too", Sam said
Vader said, "but you know where you must go. Back to the others. Your beloved's. Your brother…. Your sister…."
Sam let out a gasp of shock.
Sam asked, "how…. How do you know about Leia?"
"I had suspicions on the Death Star", Vader said.
Sam said, "so that's why you tried to protect her all those years ago."
"I would do anything to protect my children", Vader said softly.
Sam smiled and said, "I was right. You truly have changed."
Sam hugged his father again.
Vader smiled as he hugged his son close.
He has never felt so happy in his life.
He had his son back. And he intended to make sure he was safe and happy.
