"Pack your bags, everyone!" Endeavor said to his agency. "We're heading for Hosu!"
As everyone got ready, Penny walked over to the Flame Hero curiously.
"Mr. Endeavor, what is going on?"
"We've been getting reports that things have been pretty rowdy lately." The #2 Pro Hero then frowned. "Of course, there is another reason...we're going to help in catching the Hero Killer."
"Stain, the Hero Killer?" Ben asked in surprise. "Why are we going there for?"
"Several heroes with Quirks that render their skin tougher are trying to track down the Hero Killer in order to put a stop to him. After all, Stain's victims were always found lying in pools of their own blood with severe cuts and stabs over most of their body." Kido, one of Endeavor's sidekicks, explained. "We're going over there to lend a helping hand."
"So he prefers slashing weapons," Penny realized. "Has anyone ever seen him in person?"
"Only those victims of his that he leaves alive," Onima, another of Endeavor's sidekicks, said, "And even then they only saw him hiding in the shadows. He's claimed forty-one victims, though only seventeen have been killed by his hand, all of them Pro Heroes. Many of us want justice for the families of those heroes."
"His latest victim was the one Ingenium tried to save before he was crippled by him." Burnin, the leader of Endeavor's sidekicks, said. "She was only a kid, just graduated and rose to full Pro...Stain hunted her down like an animal and butchered her."
"Iida mentioned to us that his brother overheard Stain talking about how those who only seek fame or money aren't real heroes. But fame is important if you want people to believe in you and find hope when they see you fighting crime, and of course, you need money to support yourself and your family." Ben pointed out. "So if you can do that and still help others, why wouldn't you?"
"I still remember when Riko was a student..." Kido sighed sadly. "She was so bright and happy...why would Stain even go after her?"
"She always said that she wanted to forge her own path as a Hero, to be someone that was admired by all and who could be comfortable being herself." Onima said. "I don't understand why Stain would deem her a 'fake' because of that."
"Even I can say that her end was not to be this soon." Endeavor voiced in agreement. "Stain has killed and harmed way too many to remain free...and if he must die, then so be it."
Ben and Penny looked at each other worriedly, the two friends had a feeling things were about to get hectic.
"I wasn't expecting us to talk again after so long."
Toshinori said these words as he was having some one-on-one time with an old acquaintance of his; Mirai Sasaki AKA Sir Nighteye, his former sidekick.
"Well when I saw how exceptional your chosen successors were in the Sports Festival, I had to reconsider my stance on certain things." Nighteye sighed. "The terrible future I saw... I can no longer see it."
"You should have taken some points from old Lady Shibabawa." Toshinori chuckled. "She could have helped teach you not to look at the future and believe only one outcome will occur. The future is ever-changing and it is up to us to make those changes."
Nighteye nodded. "I'm starting to see that now. But I'm not here just to talk about your students...I've also heard that All For One is back."
"Yes, he is back, and he's being backed by his siblings, the Dark Knights." Toshinori clarified. "Whatever doubts I had were squashed when Naomasa studied it at the precinct. Apparently, its thinking processes were severely hampered by having multiple Quirks implanted in its body. Not to mention said body was incredibly altered, having been infused with the DNA of at least four other people."
"Whoever made that thing has to be a biological genius!" Nighteye said in surprise.
"And whoever the creator is no doubt is also the one who healed that monster from that head-crushing I gave him five years ago." Toshinori frowned. "After the Internships have ended, I plan to tell Young Midoriya and Yasakani the full story. I owe them that much, after all..."
"Good job in your training, kiddo!" Atomic Samurai said, patting Tenya on the back. "I just might take you on as a Sidekick in the future!"
"If you could take up a bit of swordsmanship, you'd make Kamikaze-Sensei's next #1 Disciple!" Iaian, one of Atomic Samurai's sidekicks, said.
Tenya was a bit flustered at the praise, though he didn't really fancy himself a swordsman per say.
"Well, I think we've warmed up enough, we're heading straight for Hosu!" Atomic Samurai said.
Tenya was surprised. "Hosu? Why?"
"Stain's recent attacks have been causing outrage among the community," Atomic Samurai explained. "Me, the other S-Rankers, and several other Pros with Quirks or unique mutations that give them invulnerability to blades are converging on Hosu in an effort to track him down."
"His recent murder of Star Plasma and crippling of your brother Tensei were unforgivable!" Iaian said firmly with righteous anger clear on his face. "So many Pros have been felled by him and we're done standing around. We capture him tonight or not at all!"
"Easy there, kiddo." Atomic Samurai said to his top disciple. "We all want Stain to face justice for what he's done but we got to think logically about this. That man has been slipperier than a greased-up rattlesnake."
Tenya understood what everyone was saying and why they were planning on making their move, but he was still nervous all the same. Still, he thought about Tensei, who was crippled in his efforts to rescue Star Plasma AKA Riko Amanai, from Stain's wrath and his resolve steeled, knowing he needed to do what was right and help in any way he could.
"Brother...I promise...if I get the chance, I will not let Stain escape justice!"
Stain was back on the water tower in Hosu where Kurogiri had found him. However, he noticed that he wasn't alone.
"Why did you follow me?"
Tomura had decided to follow Stain to Hosu, a contemplative look on the young villain's face as he had the hand that normally covered it taken off. Accompanying him were Murder Machine and Grim Knight.
"I'm just curious as to how you think you can reform society by killing a few heroes. Regardless of how you and I see them, the people see them as an elite rescue force protecting them and saving them." Tomura said. "It kinda reminds me of that one discussion in Assassin's Creed."
"What do you mean by that?" Stain asked.
"The heroes you've killed or maimed have families. Families who don't see them as being fake for just trying to help people, even if it's for a paycheck." Tomura explained. "You're cutting out the tumors, but you're not treating the source. And some of the heroes you've killed may not even be as fake as you perceive. But cling to your insane convictions if you must. I have a message to send to the world."
"Star Plasma wasn't as fake as you perceived her to be..." Grim Knight said firmly. "She was full of life, headstrong, considerate of those she called friends...and you cut her life short before it could even take off."
"She arrogantly believed that becoming a glorious Hero was the destiny she was planning to pave for herself. A paltry goal, she merely desired attention from everyone around her." Stain scoffed. "She could not hold a candle to the sincere nobility that All-Might stands for."
Stain then leaped off the water tower and into the alleyways below. Grim Knight gave a scoff of disgust before turning to Murder Machine.
"What say you, MM?"
Murder Machine's eyes glowed brightly as he projected a holographic virtual map of the entire Hosu area, with multiple Pro Heroes shown converging on where Stain was prowling around. Unlike the rest of his siblings, Murder Machine was not a human with a Quirk, but a fully sentient and self-aware AI inhabiting a robotic body built with just about every technological gadget, weapon, and marvel imaginable. Despite being an artificial intelligence, he was still considered part of the Dark Knights and Thanoseid's fiendish family all the same.
"He's going to have his ambition crushed tonight. Several of the Pro Heroes converging on Hosu are those that Stain could never hope to defeat."
"Even though he's skilled in the use of Haki." Grim Knight noted before smirking. "Keep a drone recording everything. I have a feeling his actions in the coming hours may help make or break the next phase of our plans.
Tomura smirked. "Let's send out some Nomu as well. Whatever naive conviction Stain is will be crushed...and we'll all be laughing at him from afar all the while."
"A logical course of action, though Dr. Garaki is displeased with how you lost the Anti-Symbol of Peace Nomu at the USJ." Murder Machine said. "He can only afford to send two Low-Ends and one Mid-End."
"It'll be enough," Tomura said before noticing one of the people converging on Hosu was a familiar face. "Midoriya...I wonder how Stain will react to you and your fatass girlfriend...All-Might's chosen successors..."
"Hey Zu, I got a text from some of our friends," Hilda said. "Iida, Ben, and Penny are here in Hosu as well."
Izuku and Hilda were with Gran Torino on a train to Hosu. They were going to do some patrolling and had also heard about the sightings of Stain, prepared to help if it came to catching him. However, if they couldn't find him, they'd continue onward to Tokyo next.
"Heh, you brats and your fancy phones, kids these days always got their faces in 'em!" Gran Torino laughed.
Before Izuku could say anything, he suddenly felt his Haki flash, Hilda was in the same boat, feeling [Danger Sense] hammering in her skull.
"GET DOWN!"
The train car wall exploded. When the dust cleared Izuku and Hilda were shocked to see a Pro Hero held down by a skinny Nomu with four eyes in its brain and light blue skin. Before the Nomu could do anything he was slammed into the walls by Gran Torino.
"A Nomu!" Hilda gasped in horror.
Izuku quickly used the [Lick-Lick Fruit] to cover the Nomu in hardened candy, leaving only its head exposed. The beast shot out its tongue, which formed a web-like structure but Izuku used the [Dice-Dice Fruit] to cut it off, followed by using the [Swamp-Swamp Fruit] to cover its mouth in mud, which hardened quickly.
"Thanks for the save..." The Pro Hero who had been rescued said. "There's a lot of bad stuff happening in the city. You guys should head there while I help keep watch over the civilians."
Izuku, Hilda, and Gran Torino looked out the hole the Nomu made to see Hosu burning in the distance. Knowing what needed to be done, the three quickly made their way over as fast as they could.
Things were already chaos down in Hosu. Ida, now acting under Atomic Samurai's permission, took out a yellow/green-skinned Nomu with gargoyle-like wings, taloned feet, and a gas mask.
"I thought there was only one Nomu! Now the whole city's full of them?"
He used the exhaust from his engines to blind the Nomu, allowing Iaian to stab its back with his sword, which was coated in a bright light that enhanced its strength thanks to his Quirk, [Knight's Light].
A sudden scream and the sound of blood splattering caught their attention.
"Kid, go and see what's going on!" Atomic Samurai ordered. "If there's any trouble, you have my permission to engage!"
Tenya nodded and rushed to the source of the scream, soon finding Stain, having another Pro Hero by the name of Native pinned to an alley wall, his sword poised to end his life.
"Get off of him!" Tenya shouted. "ENGINE BOOST!"
Stain had just enough time to process the voices before Tenya slammed into him just hard enough to loosen his grip. Tenya then picked up Native and got him away from Stain, who finally had time to process the scene before him.
"For a second I thought I was facing down my last target again. But you're slightly different. Your engines are in your legs. So who are you?"
"I am the Overdrive Hero: Reciprium!" Tenya said with a glare. "The younger brother and successor of Turbo Hero: Ingenium!"
"Your eyes..." Stain noted. "They are full of anger, but they have a righteous fire behind them. Choose your actions carefully, Reciprium, you haven't convinced me that you're a truly altruistic Hero yet."
"You're carrying blades all over your body and you're clad in a scarf the color of blood," Tenya said calmly. "It is safe for me to assume that you are the Hero Killer, the one who crippled my brother when he was only trying to save one of your victims from your twisted crusade."
"Indeed, your brother was one of the few heroes who truly followed the example set by All-Might." Stain chuckled. "He sought no reward for his actions and he was humble, never taking praise unless it was necessary. But he was in the way of my goals and my work isn't finished. Star Plasma was an arrogant, fame-hungry witch who only cared about the attention she'd gain from her career and was only focused on her own self-imposed 'story', not on helping anybody. A fake if I ever saw one."
"You call her a Fake..." Tenya began, anger more clear in his eyes. "But she was still young! She had only just graduated! She wanted to make a name for herself not because she was selfish, but because she wanted to make something of her life, to be able to rise up and be her own person, to live a full and proud life! And you took that life away from her before she had the chance to live it!"
"Believe what you want to believe about her." Stain scoffed dismissively. "She was an arrogant fool who would have poisoned the minds of millions into blindly following her. But your brother...he was a true hero, risking his life to save her own pathetic one. That's why I spared him, so he could continue to help and save others, even if they didn't deserve it."
"Pardon my language...But that is complete and utter BULLSHIT!" Tenya snapped, internally surprised at his language. "Not just Star Plasma, but all the other Heroes you've callously murdered have also saved lives! They could have saved countless more and shown they truly did have noble and heroic hearts, but you didn't give them the chance! How many people in Hosu are hospitalized, or worse, because a hero you removed wasn't there to help them? My brother had to give up hero work because your attack permanently damaged his legs!"
"T-That cannot be...I left him in a state where he could be saved in time..." Stain faltered, shocked at Tenya's words.
"This isn't some childhood comic fantasy, Stain!" Tenya snapped. "We're a rescue service first and foremost! Heroes are an ideal to strive for but at the end of the day, we're all human! My brother was a caring person that everyone looked up to. Star Plasma had a family as well. Friends and loved ones, the same can be said for ALL of your victims!"
Tenya's words continued to hit Stain, who began trembling with rage at what he was hearing.
"No... No, I won't accept this! My cause is just! I'm trying to purge this world of false heroes!"
Stain lunged toward Tenya, who quickly took a stance before realizing the Hero Killer was moving slower than usual, the world becoming a blue greyscale. The bespectacled boy realized what was going on.
"Could this be...the power of Observation Haki?"
"It hurts to face reality, doesn't it?!" Tenya taunted, using his newfound skill to dodge Stain and block with a swing of his armored leg. "I don't know what sort of story you have and maybe your goals were noble at one point...it is true there are a lot of heroes who do this for fame and money, but I've learned from my friends and teachers that the world isn't always so black and white!"
"SHUT UP!" Stain snapped, driving a knife into Tenya's shoulder, making him grunt in pain as he pulled back, clutching his wound while glaring defiantly at the Hero Killer.
"Whatever it takes...I will make sure that not just my brother, but Star Plasma and every single hero that you've crippled and butchered is avenged!"
Stain breathed heavily before calming himself. "As enraged as I am at your words... I still can't bring myself to kill you. However, I can't have you stopping me either."
Stain licked the blood off the blade he used to stab Tenya, causing the successor of Ingenium to feel a cold paralyzing sensation overcome his body as he fell to his knees, going stiff.
"My body...!"
"I'm impressed, you truly do show altruistic motives, just like your brother. However, I cannot allow you to interfere...so send your brother my regards."
Before Stain could make another move, he was suddenly slugged hard in the face, sending him flying into some nearby trash cans. As he slowly regained his bearings, he looked up to see a figure covered in green and black lightning as well as a large, rotund feminine figure beside it, surrounded by pink and white lightning.
"Get away from our friend!"
Stain slowly got up and got a better look at his new attackers; Izuku and Hilda. Tenya, despite still being paralyzed, smiled in relief at their timely arrival.
"Midoriya! Yasakani! Perfect timing!"
"That's right, buster!" Hilda grinned, flashing a peace sign. "WE ARE HERE!"
This is gonna be good! The Chaos of Hosu is gonna go in full-swing next chapter!
It's a good thing Tsunade was there to give Tensei a much better medical treatment so he could talk to his brother more clearly. Now, Tenya has a much clearer headspace and a newfound determination to see justice properly seen through!
