Hello fans, sorry this wasn't published sooner. I've been focusing on other stories but I'm back to Avengers alongside some others. The updates will be slow because I want to see what happens in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Please send reviews for what you think and let me know if you have any ideas. Here it is.

The Cosmic Twins

Captain America stared at the two cosmic-powered twins. "Who are you two?"

"We're the ones asking questions. Not the other way around" Wendy retorted back firmly. "We will ask you all again. Where is Fury?"

The three humans, the super-powered soldier, the scientist who could turn into the hulk and the blonde-haired assassin held silent glances. Could they trust them? "Gone," said the woman.

"What do you mean 'gone'?" Colin demanded.

"He vanished. Into dust,"

Colin and Wendy's hearts dropped in shock. Their close friend had vanished, just like their parents.

"Who are you two?" Captain America questioned again.

"I'm Colin and this is my sister Wendy," Colin introduced. "Our parents are…" he swallowed a lump in his throat. "…were Captain and Commodore Marvel. We're friends of Nick Fury,"

"How does he know you?" asked the glass-wearing scientist.

"He's been friends with our parents for years. And we traced the signal from the remote they left behind to here. And now you're telling us that Fury is gone?" Wendy asked, her voice dropping.

Captain America nodded. "Yes,"

"Tell us how this happened" Colin demanded.

They sat down and the former Avengers told the twins about Thanos, the mad Titan who had sought to destroy 50% of all life in the universe using the six infinity stones. They tried to stop him with the aid of the Guardians of the Galaxy and friends and allies; but failed. He had won. A day passed and the twins had taken time to grieve for their parents. But they remained strong-hearted and gathered with the Avengers in the living the next night to decide what had to be done to undo the awful phenomenon that had happened to the entire universe.

"And where is he now?" asked Wendy.

"We don't know," Natasha the assassin said remorsefully. "He created a portal and disappeared,"

"Which means he needs to be found," approached a deep voice. Una entered the room. "If he's out there, he needs to pay for everything he took from us. If you two know the universe, you must know who can find him,"

"Then we will find him," declared Colin darkly.

"No," approached another voice from behind a corner. The three turned to see Tina Quill and Rocket walking beside her. The co-leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy has a tear-stricken face. It had been three weeks since they had lost the friends they had brought with them, and they remained more devasted than ever. "What you two need to do is find our friends trapped out there,"

"Tina…" Una spoke up. "I know you want to believe…"

"We can't have lost everyone," Rocket spoke up. "Our friends…they have to be out there somewhere. They have no idea what we've lost," he was sobbing like mad. Losing Meredith had been the hardest thing that had ever happened to him.

"We'll find them," Wendy decided. "Then we decide what to do about Thanos," she stood up. "Tell us where they might be,"

Jesse sat in a private room, devastated, an empty bottle of spirits in his hand. He heard footprints but didn't turn.

"Two visitors from space came," notified Una. "Friends of Fury. They're heading out to search for the rest of the Guardians. Then we'll decide what to do about Thanos,"

Jesse was silent for a second. "What good would that do? The woman I love is gone. And I didn't even get a chance to propose to her," he pulled out a small velvet box and opened it revealing the ring.

The sight made Una's eyes swell up in tears. "There's still hope,"

"There's no hope at all," he spat.

Knowing that her efforts she turned her back and left. As she walked down the hallway, she heard a loud cry and a smash of glass. Her body became coiled in sorrow.

(Three weeks later)

Floating in the Benatar, out of power and drifting alone in the cosmos, Tony and Nebula were playing a ridiculous game whilst Peter Quill sat alone in the pilot seat. Orlins was curled up on top of a control consul unable to look at the co-leader. The male twin, whose chin was covered in a thick layer of bristles, stared out into space, guilt crushing down on his shoulders. Three weeks it had been. Since learning of Gamora's death and failing to stop her adoptive father who had killed her from destroying the universe. Drax was gone. Doctor Strange and Spider-Man were gone. And so was Mantis.

This – is – on – you. Mantis's words were ringing through his head like stones pelting in his brain as if to punish him. Thinking of the empath made Quill realise how wrong he had treated him. How was he going to face Tina? How was he going to face Rocket or Meredith? Were they even alive? He had tried contacting them for days but nothing. He couldn't give up yet. They had to be alive. If he had lost anyone else, he would never forgive himself. He looked sorrowfully at Orlins. "Orlins.." he tried to pet him but the blue Guntrin snarled at him and jumped into the other seat, curling up again with his back turned to him.

"Please Orlins," he begged. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry,"

He tried to stroke his blue fur but his vicious growls made him pull his hand back. He sighed. Orlins blamed him too for everything that had happened. He stood up and walked past Nebula and Tony to lean against a metal bar.

"It wasn't your fault you know," Nebula sympathised.

Tony stopped playing. "Excuse me," the blue robotic alien blinked her solid black eyes at him. "Are you seriously saying that to him? We were…seconds away from getting that gauntlet off…and just when we had it in our grasp," he stood up and glared at Peter's turned back. "…he screwed everything up,"

Peter spun around in a fury. "You would have done the same thing if you learnt that maniac killed the girl you loved!"

"At least I would have put the safety of half the universe before my selfish feelings!"

"You calling me selfish?" he spat back.

"I just did," Tony arrogantly retorted.

The men engaged in a violent wrestle. Peter pinned Tony to the table. Tony kneed him into a wall and was about to throw a punch to his face when Nebula came forward and shoved them apart. "Enough!" she shouted. "What's done is done," she hissed. "This is partly my fault," she hung her head down. She wondered what would have happened if she hadn't told Peter what had happened to Gamora right at the moment, Tony was pulling the gauntlet off his hand. If she had just kept it secret for a while longer, Peter wouldn't have flown into a wild vengeful rage and attacked him, ruining the plan. "But above all, it's that wizard's fault for giving Thanos the stone. It was his job to keep it safe. And he failed. We barely have a lot of time left to live in this floating ship with not much oxygen left. And I'm not gonna spent the rest of my life watching you two banter like this," giving one last cold glance at the two men, she marched off and sat in one of the pilot's seats and looked at Orlins.

Peter and Tony glanced at each other. Then Peter sat down, crossing his arms grieving again for Gamora.

"I'm sorry you lost your girl," Tony apologised.

"That's not even the worst part," grumbled the twin. "How am I supposed to tell my sister that the guy she likes…is gone? That I'm responsible for all of this,"

"It isn't your fault. At least, not entirely," he sat down in front of him. "It was that wizard's fault. I would have rather died than have him give Thanos the stone. I told him not to but he did. He said before he turned to dust that giving it was the only way to defeat him,"

His words didn't comfort Peter at all. All was silent between everyone for a short while. When suddenly they saw a bright flash of light through the windshield. Orlins jumped for fright into Nebula's lap. She didn't throw him off. She held him and covered her eyes. Covering his eyes, a bit, Peter stepped forward pulling out his quad blaster. Was it a threat?

The bright light split into two and the flashes receded. The three space adventurers and the Guntrin saw two cosmic-powered teens floating out in front of them. One of them pressed a com attached to his ear. "We are not a threat. We're here to escort you to earth. The Guardians and the Avengers sent us,"

"You know the Guardians?" Peter's heart lifted with hope. "Was a girl with them? Girl about my height, blonde hair? And talking racoon? Rocket? And Meredith. Like him..." he pointed at Orlins. "But red,"

"Yes. Tina told us to find you," said Wendy. Peter was overjoyed; tears spilt out from his eyes.

"And what about a tree-like guy and talking racoon, small, brown and white fur." he asked desperately. "And she's a Guntrin. Like him," he pointed at Orlins. "But red,"

"The racoon we've seen but another creature like him ...no. There was no tree creature either," Wendy shook her head. "I'm so sorry,"

Peter fell into his seat and cried into his hand. Rocket and Tina were alive but his beloved Guntrin, his companion Meredith was gone. And so was Groot too. Nebula comforted him with a pat on the shoulder. Orlins purred at him, stepping onto his knees, and cuddling close to him. He couldn't avoid him like this any longer. They needed each other now more than ever.

Tony looked at the cosmic twins. "Take us to Earth then,"

"Hold on tight everyone," Colin warned. "It's gonna be a bumpy ride," they flew to the back of the Benatar and pressed their super-strong palms against the metal stern. Their eyes glowed gold and with powerful energy shooting from their boots, they rocketed the disabled ship through space at the speed of light towards Earth.

And that's the first chapter done. What did you all think? I hope you all didn't mind me doing those changes and how I depicted Nebula, Tony, Quill and Orlins in this scene. How I've made it look in this scene, doesn't mean I don't love Star-Lord. He's still one of my favourite heroes. It's just a scene I wanted to write down since I made him survive in Infinity War. Additionally, this was all done on purpose for the plots of the future movies. I wish to apologise for taking so long. I had a writer's block on this story and I got carried away writing stories which I knew a lot about but don't worry I am now updating it whenever I can. See you all later this week.
