bgradaille: Thank you for reviewing! Yes, I'll write only Season 5, since I think Season 6 was pretty much a sacrilege for the show XD. I agree the fifth one had some good plots though. Thanks, glad you like it! :)
Kay44: Thank you for reviewing! Yeah, especially since she's an old woman who thought she knew everything about her son's life. Then she finds out he has a daughter lol. The situation about Allison should be clarified soon... ;)
Snow Tiger: Thank you for reviewing! Things could get easier now that Angus is officially a part of WOOHP now... But I have to note that Tad is still part of WOOHP too. Thank you! :)
Fire Butterfly: Thank you for reviewing! I'm afraid I can't say anything concerning Lily's love life, but I'll keep what you said in mind! ;) More family drama shouldn't be so surprising though. Lily's whole life so far consisted of it! XD Thank you, glad you like it!
Silverwing Fairy: Thank you for reviewing, here's the update! :)
Sorry for the wait, but life got in the way. While I can't promise frequent updates, I'll try to get them out whenever I can.
In this chapter, things get a bit... Complicated.
I only own my OC's!
"Great." I let out a groan just as Uncle Angus caught unconscious Mrs. Lewis. "I tried to warn you!" I then hissed at him. "I get to meet Jerry's mother for the first time," He looked up at me flabbergasted. "And you expect me to just be calm?!" I rolled my eyes. "Dad has a mother, big deal." I replied sarcastically.
Uncle shook his head. "You don't get it. He never talked much about his family... This is the first time I meet someone out of them. You at least got to meet most." He explained with a frown. "Yeah, big deal," I frowned back. "I got to meet my crazy uncle and aunt who then tried to kill me!" The man simply shook his head in disbelief with a brief look of disgust.
"What are we going to do with her?" He then looked at the woman who was still unconscious in his arms. I sure as hell didn't know how to answer that question...
Both of us were standing at the street in utter silence for a few moments. "Maybe it would be best if we told Jerry about this development..." Uncle then spoke up thoughtfully. "If you do that, then his mother will make his life a misery for not telling her about me." I responded, folding my arms. "She's that bad?" He raised an eyebrow. "I've heard it myself." I smirked.
Uncle Angus let out a groan. "But she'll make his life a misery anyway, whether we tell him what happened or not!" "Except that we'll be victims too." I raised my right index finger seriously. "She can't do anything to us." He frowned. "I'm not talking about Mrs. Lewis. I'm talking about Dad." I looked him in the eyes. "He wanted to tell her when he was ready. And now you spilt the secret right in front of her." He kept staring at me for a few moments. Then he took out his phone with a frown.
"I don't care. I've had it enough with lying and secrets, I won't lie to Jerry." I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Then why aren't you either of you telling Mother the truth?" I demanded somewhat incredulously.
Here he was, saying how he didn't want to lie to Dad, but had no problem keeping Mother in the dark about the whole thing... It smelt like double standards to me.
"It's not the same thing." He retorted. "If you say so." I shrugged, not wanting to argue.
It was his fault this happened anyway. Seeing that he was willing to take the blame for it, I had no complaints.
Uncle Angus dialed Dad's phone number. It kept ringing for a few seconds, until... "Jerry." Uncle spoke up somewhat embarrassed. "Yeah, I know that you're working, but we have a situation here..." He trailed off, remaining quiet. I could hear Dad asking what had happened, but Uncle remained quiet out of embarrassment. I let out a groan.
Of course, I would have to take the full blow...
"Just give me the phone." I said and took it out of his hand. "Dad, it's me." "Lily, what on Earth is he talking about?" He asked me over the phone. "Well, we happened to run into your mother right now. Uncle let it slip that she was my grandmother, and she put two and two together before she lost consciousness. He's holding her in his arms right now, right in the middle of the street." I explained bluntly, but on point.
There was silence at his end of the call for a few moments. "What on Earth is my mother doing here?!" Dad's astonished voice was near to breaking my eardrums. I was forced to put the phone a bit away from my ear. "She was looking for you." I then responded. "So she knows?" He asked with a sigh. "She knows." I confirmed. "Drat." I could hear him saying under his breath in annoyance.
"Wait for me here, I've got your coordinates." "But... What about your mother? Should we try to wake her up?" I asked somewhat awkwardly. "Just wait for me. I'll be there soon." He hung up. I looked up to see Uncle still holding Mrs. Lewis.
"He told us to wait here." I said simply. He nodded, looking like he had just committed a huge sin. "Well, she was bound to find out sooner or later..." He was trying to to look on the bright side. "Dad would have preferred telling her himself." I reminded. "What's done is done." He looked away with a frown.
No sooner than that, Dad WOOHP-ed himself out of a nearby trash bin. "A trash bin? Really?" Uncle gaped at him just as he stood up and dusted off his suit.
The moment he saw his unconscious mother in my uncle's arms, his eyes widened. "How long has she been unconscious?" He asked as he ran up to us. "A few minutes." I frowned. "I'm sorry I fucked everything up with your mother, Jerry..." Uncle Angus finally spoke up, looking ashamed of himself. Dad looked up at him from his mother's unconscious form. His worried expression turned to a nonchalant one.
"It's fine. She was bound to find out sooner or later... Better now." He explained calmly. "But what about... Her reaction?" I dared to ask. "I would have been in for it at any time. She's going to be furious whether she found out now or in three years." Dad's eyes moved to me.
Honestly, I was kind of surprised to see him so accepting of this development... Especially since he didn't want to tell his mother about me during Terrence's funeral. But maybe that really wasn't the right moment, for a woman to find out she had a granddaughter during her son's burial... It would have given her a heart attack. Maybe I was just so used to hiding everything and lying... I was the one who had insisted on keeping everything a secret from Mother and Uncle, not him!
"I'll take care of her. You two can go." Dad spoke up. "Can I come with you?" I asked. "I know what happens with you and your mother is none of my business, I just wanted to say 'hello' to her, since she knows." I then added once I saw an unreadable expression on his face. Finally, he sighed. "What happens between me and my mother is your business in some way, since she'll want to know all about you the moment she wakes up." He explained. "Besides, it is a family thing. You're a part of the family too." "He has a point, you know." Uncle added.
I simply nodded quietly.
Sometimes, it was still kind of strange to think of myself as a part of the Lewis family... When I first came here looking for Dad, I never would have thought I'd get to interact with more of his relatives. You go looking for your father, then end up with a murderous uncle and aunt, and now a grandmother...
"You go with them, Lily. I'll see you at home." Uncle Angus told me. I nodded to him before waving. Dad took his mother in his arms before pressing some sort of a button on a remote in his left hand. It sent us flying into a mini chopper. I landed in a seat behind Dad's who took the pilot's controls. Mrs. Lewis was lying on a seat next to mine.
"Where are we going?" I asked him. "To my home." He responded simply, making me nod.
The moment we were above Dad's bachelor pad, he pressed another button on the remote. It sent us flying inside, right in the living room. All of us landed on the nearest sofa. I then stood up to look around.
It's been a while since I've been at this place... The last time I visited Dad here was a few months ago. One thing I learned about this place was that I could tell what his general mood was based on the pad's state. Since the whole living room was in a mess at the moment, one thing was obvious. Something was bothering him. I had a feeling it was connected to my mother... Dad definitely didn't have huge problems at work (ignoring his workaholic habits) right now, and he and Uncle Angus were on speaking terms again. Or, unless it was Mother, then it was something about Terrence.
I looked around the living room once more. Memories of the time Myrna Beesbottom drugged Dad into marrying her flashed through my mind. This whole place was disgusting back then...
"Thank God this place is not filled with hearts anymore." I sighed in relief. "What are you talking about?" I quickly turned around to see Dad walking up to me in confusion. "Sorry," I let out a small chuckle. "It's just that your marriage to Myrna was a trauma for me back then. I can still remember vividly what the living room looked like back then..." I explained sheepishly.
"Was that when Sam had to cover for your sickness?" Dad raised an eyebrow after a few moments of silence. I stared at him in surprise. "How do you know that? You were supposed to be drugged back then!" I exclaimed. "Angus told me that you described our wedding ceremony as a 'vomit fest' and threw up during it." He explained with a bit concerned look. "I really wasn't feeling well during the whole day." I sighed. "I'm sorry you had to go through it." I looked up at those words with a frown. "It wasn't your fault that bitch drugged you." I reminded, ignoring his glare at my 'bitch' remark.
Myrna Longbottom was one, whether he agreed with my language usage or not!
"Let's just wake her up." Dad then let out a sigh. We walked up to Mrs. Lewis' unconscious form. "Mother, please, wake up..." He started shaking her by her shoulders lightly. That seemed to do the trick, since a muffled groan came out of her mouth. "What on Earth happened?" She asked groggily as Dad helped her sit up. "You fell unconscious." He explained.
Once she opened her light blue eyes, they landed on the person right in front of her. Me. Her eyes widened immediately. "Gerald, is it true?" She demanded. "Mother, please, calm down. We don't want you falling unconscious again." Dad crouched in front of the woman and told her in a soothing tone. "Is it true that Lilette's your daughter?" She ignored his words.
Her face was serious, and she asked that in an authoritative tone, the one that wanted answers immediately. At that moment, I understood why Dad obeyed to Mrs. Lewis' every word. Her icy aura at the moment gave me a feeling that I didn't want to be at the receiving end of her anger if I disobeyed her... She was almost identical to Mother in that aspect. Hell, Dad himself behaved like that too sometimes... I still didn't decide who could be scarier when angry, him, or Mother.
"She is." Dad said and then turned his head to me, motioning with his hand for me to come closer. I did so somewhat awkwardly. The moment I was in front if Mrs. Lewis, she took both of my hands in hers. Her light blue eyes then locked into my dark brown ones, as if she wanted to look right into my soul.
It was quiet for a few moments while she was observing me. Truthfully, it made me feel even more awkward.
Finally, she gave a simple nod. "What's your full name, my dear?" She asked me. "Lilette Grace Chase... Or, well, it should be Lewis, actually." I quickly corrected myself.
She stared at me for a few more seconds before turning her head to Dad. "We've got to have a talk, Gerald." She stated with a frown. "Yes, Mother." Dad replied compliantly. Yet the look on his face told me he dreaded the upcoming conversation.
"I can leave you two alone." I quickly suggested. "No," Dad cut me off. "I'll bring you home once Mother and I have finished our conversation. Wait for me outside." I nodded and quickly got out of the pad. I decided to sit in front of Dad's car and just tell the girls what happened.
Third Person's POV
The moment Lily exited the pad, Mrs. Lewis looked at Jerry. She was still quiet, which Jerry took as a bad sign immediately.
But, honestly, what else could he expect? He dreaded this conversation the moment he realized he would have to tell his mother truth some day. Now, the Pandora's box has been opened, and he was sure he would regret it. At the same time, he knew it would have to occur at some point. He just wished it would pass as fast as possible...
"She does resemble you in some ways." Mrs. Lewis finally spoke up. "Actually, I believe that she looks like her mother and uncle more." Jerry responded honestly. "It's true, but she has your eyes, and she makes facial expressions similar to yours when you were her age. Those are small things, but noticeable." The woman explained coldly. "But there are surely other things that your genes had a role in..."
"She's picked all my allergies, I'm afraid." The man responded, trying to keep the conversation going without her getting angry. At the same time, his thoughts immediately went to that terrible blueberry allergy he shared with Lily. Jerry was known for being terribly allergic. He also knew Lily had that blueberry allergy, However, it wasn't until two weeks ago that he discovered that Lily was equally allergic to a lot of other things.
Once he brought his new pillow to work, he developed a terrible rash and sneezed like crazy. Lily came that day, to see what he was doing, and wanted to test the new pillow. He gave it to her without objection, thinking it wouldn't bother her. However, that proved to be false once she started sneezing and developed a rash identical to his.
Angus was in shock as well. That was why he and Jerry decided to keep Lily away from everything that the latter knew he was allergic to. The first thing they did was throw away the cursed pillow of course.
"How old is she?" Mrs. Lewis asked. "Eighteen." Jerry replied immediately. "So, it turns out that you've had a child for eighteen years now, and you never told me?!" The woman demanded incredulously, her tone rising.
"Mother, it's a complicated story," Jerry quickly started, only to be cut off. "I thought I had taught you not to keep such important things from your own mother!" Mrs. Lewis was furious. "Mother... I didn't even know she was mine until a few months ago." The man replied honestly, knowing it was about to get worse.
The woman was looking at her son as if he were crazy. "What do you mean you didn't know?!" She shouted. Then, a look of realization crossed her face. "If you didn't know, then it means that you..." Her light blue eyes darkened and narrowed. "Shame on you, Gerald Lewis." She declared in an accusatory one.
Jerry took his mother's words in while feeling shame. There wasn't a wrong part in those words though, which made it even worse. 'Shame on you, Gerald Lewis' was a nice way to put it.
While he loved his daughter dearly, Jerry never told anyone details about the night he and Bryony confessed their love to one another. Firstly, because he didn't remember it. He woke up the morning after with his head throbbing, and with Bryony in bed. He had absolutely no idea what they had done that night (apart from the moment they confessed to each other). Secondly, because even though he didn't remember it, Angus told him recently what had happened back then.
Bryony had tendency to drink a lot when she was nervous. That night, she was apparently nervous to confess it to him, which was why she drank a lot of wine, mistaking it for water. It got her drunk in process. Jerry was known to have low alcohol tolerance. He remembered drinking only one glass of wine that night, but he drank it on an empty stomach, and accidentally got drunk in as well.
Based on the position they found themselves in after that night, it wasn't hard to figure out that things had got out of hand. Still, Jerry dismissed it as a meaningless accident. That was the reason behind his shock when he first discovered Lily was their daughter...
He never told this to Lily either. While it was pretty obvious that she was the product of unplanned pregnancy, he felt like it would be terrible of him to just tell her that.
It wasn't the only reason why he refused to discuss that event though. Now that he had full information of what had happened, Jerry felt shame at the very thought of it. He felt shame knowing how irresponsible he and Bryony behaved that night. While it was obvious they had no idea what they were doing in their drunken state, the man felt ashamed nonetheless. Responsible gentlemen didn't behave the way he did that one time...
His mother was a smart woman. Since he blatantly let her know that he had been unaware of Lily's identity before, it could easily be concluded that she was the result of someone's irresponsible actions. There was simply no way for somebody not to know they had kids.
Another reason why he didn't want his mother to know was because he knew she would be furious. Finally, she used to be an alcoholic herself. It made his situation even worse.
"I know it sounds bad, but..." Jerry was immediately cut off. "You know?! Is that supposed to make me feel better?!" Mrs. Lewis' angry voice made him flinch.
By now, she was on her feet. Her light blue eyes looked like they were ready to shoot fire.
"First I find out you have a daughter you never told me about, and then you tell me she's the result of your irresponsible behavior?! I thought I had raised you better!" Jerry had never seen her so furious in his life. "Mother, it was an..." He stopped himself.
He couldn't call it an accident. It would mean Lily was an accident too, which was far from truth. Plus, it would sound just cruel.
"It wasn't in our plans." The man quickly corrected himself. "Well, then what was in your plans?" Mrs. Lewis stared at him angrily. "Please, let me explain." She sat once she heard those words.
"If you remember, I used to live in Liverpool many years ago." The woman nodded. "During that time, I met two people who I grew quite close to. One of them was the man you saw today, Angus Chase." "Lilette's uncle?" Mrs. Lewis presumed. Jerry nodded immediately. "The other person was his sister, Bryony. While I was friends with Angus, Bryony saw me as more than that. It took me a while to realize I saw her the same way, and, well... That night, she mistook wine for water and drank a lot out of nervousness."
The woman's eyes narrowed. "What was she so nervous about?" She demanded. "About me, according to Angus." The man replied curtly. "I drank one glass that night, but on an empty stomach..." He stopped at those words for a moment. He knew he was crossing into a dangerous territory.
"It was a lot more than what my tolerance could handle." He said it diplomatically. Mrs. Lewis didn't move her gaze away from him at those words. "Now, I don't remember what else happened... But, somewhere, during that night, things got a bit out of control..." "A bit?" Mrs. Lewis cut him off incredulously.
By now, she was staring at her son as if he had three heads. She then let out a laugh which was unfamiliar to Jerry. It sounded both sarcastic and disbelieving.
"If having one kid is the result of things getting a bit out of control, then I don't want to know what else could occur if they had got more out of it." She commented sarcastically.
Jerry knew he had that coming, and yet... It felt like he had been slapped across his face.
"Are you embarrassed of me?" The sound of that voice was the last thing he wanted to hear at that moment. He turned around to see Lily standing by the entrance. Her face held an indifferent expression. However, he could see hurt in her eyes. It was something he had really hoped to avoid... Why couldn't have she just stayed outside?!
"I thought I had told you to wait outside." Jerry spoke up. "I would have heard everything nonetheless. Your mother is quite loud." Lily responded coldly, not even glancing at the woman. Mrs. Lewis suddenly looked a bit ashamed of herself.
"I can leave you two to yourselves. I wish to return home." She said simply. "Lily, wait..." "I'll call Uncle Angus to pick me up. See you at the graduation." She exited without another word.
Both of them stared at where she had been standing a few moments ago.
Jerry felt immediate regret. He thought the conversation would go better... The way Lily spoke so coldly to him after hearing everything was like a stab. And yet, it was obvious her feelings were hurt...
"I'm sorry, Gerald. I didn't want to worsen things between you two." Mrs. Lewis came up beside him. "You're not mad?" He raised an eyebrow. "I am, but I didn't want to hurt your daughter's feelings." The woman said with a regretful look. "What am I going to do?" Jerry asked himself with a sigh. "You're going to talk it out, that's what." She replied. "What about you?" He looked at her. "I need some time to process all of this. Just take me back to the airport. I'll call you when I'm ready to talk."
Lily's POV
"Alright, will you tell me what happened back there?" Uncle Angus demanded once we entered the house.
Once I asked my uncle to come for me, he did so immediately. I decided to wait for him a bit away from Dad's bachelor pad, because I didn't want them to say 'hi' to each other. It would only result in Dad trying to talk to me, which was what I wanted to avoid. I wasn't up for a talk at the moment.
I was quiet during the whole ride. Uncle Angus obviously noticed it, and wanted answers.
And me? What was I supposed to tell him? Was I supposed to tell him how my father was seemingly embarrassed of me, that he couldn't even tell me that I was the result of his and Mother's drunken states?
I knew that I was not in their plans when it happened, but hearing the whole thing now made it even worse. It made me feel like I was an accident... Dad sounded so embarrassed while talking about that night to his mother! And she... She sounded as if I were some sort of sacrilege.
"Were you aware of Dad and Mother's drunkenness the night that I was conceived?" I asked and sat on the couch. Uncle Angus' eyes widened. "Shit..." He trailed off in astonishment. "So, you knew?" I presumed with a frown. "Lily, they didn't mean to..." He stopped himself and let out a sigh. "Listen, that night is a touchy subject for Jerry in general."
He sat down next to me.
"I understand why you feel hurt about this..." "He sounded as if he were embarrassed of me. I know it sounds absurd, but I can't help my feelings." I replied while looking at the floor.
"Listen, Lily," Uncle sighed, making me look up at him. "He's not embarrassed of you. Your father loves you dearly. The situation they found themselves in is a complicated one." "I heard some bits of it, but I don't know how to feel about it." I sighed. "Well, let me tell you right now... Jerry doesn't even remember what happened back then. He knows the whole story only because I told him, and because of the place he found himself in the next morning. How would you feel, not remembering what you had done the night before?"
I stayed quiet. I knew that I would certainly feel horrible if I were in that position. That was when another thought appeared in my mind. Dad had told me how his mother used to be an alcoholic when he was a kid... And he now had to explain to her how he was drunk himself, with me as a result of it. Knowing how strict Mrs. Lewis was, it was no surprise he sounded so embarrassed...
"I'm going to my room." I stood up. Uncle stood up as well, giving me a worried look. "I'm going to talk it out with Dad, I promise. However, I do need some time to let this sink in." I told him. He simply nodded. I then went upstairs to my room.
Once I my back hit the bed, I suddenly didn't want to tell the girls about this development. I was just about to do it while I was outside Dad's bachelor pad, but Mrs. Lewis' loud voice stopped me from doing so. Now, I wanted to keep this with me, and not be interrupted in my reflections.
Mrs. Lewis certainly wasn't a discreet person when angry, it had to be noted too.
I stared at the ceiling while thinking about Mother and Dad. Now that I knew more, it was no wonder Mother was so surprised when she found out she was pregnant... Dad really got the short end of the stick with his mother. I was sure she would eventually calm down, but still... I didn't want to be present when she was angry ever again.
That should be the end of this chapter. I hope that Mrs. Lewis' reaction was in character. Personally, I see her as someone who would lose her mind if she found out Jerry did something behind her back. Honestly, writing her conversation with Jerry had me in stitches. XD Poor him got it the worst though... Anyway, I hope you liked the chapter. Until next time! :)
