Alright, continuing on from Episode 1, we have part 2 of "Day of the Dino" and Hadley Rae is gonna have her first appearance as the mysterious Purple Ranger. So let's dive into the story! (punches the screen)

Disclaimers: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is a product of Hasbro as of May 1st, 2018.

(Previously on Power Rangers Dino Thunder...)

Tommy: I've had enough Ranger adventures to last me a while.

Hadley: Some first day this turned out to be.

Tommy: Keep that with you. It'll be a big help later.

Kira: I'm out of it. Just forget I was here and I'll do the same.

Tommy: If you're looking for extra credit, you're in the wrong place.

(Hadley's POV)

We all looked at each other before I stepped forward to explain the situation. "Dr. O, even though extra credit would be cool, that's not why we're here. Some kind of T-Rex headed drones kidnapped Kira."

I saw him look away from us shamefully as Conner whispered to me, "He doesn't look convinced."

I whispered back slightly, "Seems more like he might have an idea of what those things might be."

I was on the ball with my deductions because Dr. O turned away and spoke after a moment, "They're called Tyrannodrones."

"And you know that because...?" Ethan asked suspiciously.

"I helped create them." Tommy explained.

I raised my eyebrows slightly and smirked as I looked at Conner. "Case closed." I turned to Dr. Oliver and walked over, speaking to him, "So what exactly were they for originally?"

"Long story." He told me before looking at us. "For now, we've gotta figure out what they want with Kira."

I turned and looked at the boys. "You took those stones. You tell him." Mine was given to me willingly, so I had nothing to hide from my teacher.

Conner nodded a little and looked at Dr. Oliver nervously. "It... might have something to do with these." He pulled out his Red Gem, and the look on Dr. O's face was near priceless in shock value.

"Yeah. I didn't want to get into trouble. They honestly thought they had found something prehistoric when they picked up the gems." I told him honestly.

"We're really sorry. How were we supposed to know that those things had superpowers and those lizard guys were gonna come after us?" Conner apologized sincerely.

Tommy sighed as he held the Yellow Gem I had passed him and shook his head. "I guess this isn't exactly something you see every day."

"Sort of like a science teacher with a super secret base under his house?" Ethan pointed out.

I made a face before looking at Dr. O with a sheepish shrug. "He's not wrong."

Conner stepped forward. "Okay, seriously, dude. Not that this isn't all seriously cool, but you gotta come clean."

"It wasn't just Tommy's idea to have a protocol in place in case he had an emergency with his creations." We all turned around to see my dad entering the base. "I suggested it to him after he survived the island explosion."

"Island explosion?" I was confused by that. "You never told me anything about that, Dad."

He sighed softly. "It was on a need to know basis, Hadley. It was better at the time if you didn't learn anything until you were ready."

Tommy nodded a bit. "As for Conner and Ethan, you two need to forget all about this. I'll find Kira." He started to walk away, but Conner used his superspeed to get in front of him, startling the three of us who didn't even see it before.

"I'd say the Gem's powers are already making bonds," Dad mentioned casually with a smile.

Conner panted slightly and made the ultimatum. "You can tell us all about it now or at the next parent teacher conference."

I made a face again, not even daring to say anything about my own abilities. Dad knew, Dr. O knew, and I knew, and I was leaving it at that for the time being.

A few minutes later, all of us were piled into the old Lightspeed Rescue Jeep (which still amazed me that it was functional as the boys conversed with Dr. O, Ethan speaking, "So when you said you created those... Tyranno... whatevers, you were just kidding, right?"

I rolled my eyes slightly as I leaned forward. "Ethan, clearly he wasn't kidding. The look of dread on his face said it all when we mentioned those things."

"How can you even tell, anyway?" Conner asked inquisitively.

I shrugged slightly. "My big sister may be a doctor, but that doesn't mean I don't have my own interests. One of the biggest things to becoming a police officer or a detective is to read the expressions of people, to get a good gauge on their mental state by watching their body movements. I've been using that skill since I was maybe five or six and applied it with basic deductive reasoning."

Dad smirked slightly at my explanation. "That's why I call her the 'Modern Sherlock Holmes of Mariner Bay'. Kid would be reading detective stories like you wouldn't believe when she was little."

"The Tyrannodrones weren't supposed to be used like this," Dr. Oliver cut us off. "Someone's modified their programming. A few years ago, I was doing research on combining dinosaur DNA with technology."

I nodded a bit, following along easily. "Something similar to how the original Dino Zords would be formed."

"Yes. My partner was a scientist named Anton Mercer." Tommy confirmed.

"The rich guy who disappeared years ago," Ethan mentioned.

I perked up, remembering the article after one of the many demon fights. "I read about that. His body was never found."

"Yep. Shortly after Mercer disappeared, our lab was attacked," Dr. O continued. "All of our research was destroyed... or at least I thought it was."

"The guy who did this is back?" Conner asked, seeming to catch on.

Dad nodded a bit. "That's why when I found Dr. Oliver, I suggested the emergency protocol to ensure we had a safety measure in place in case the guy did come back." He pulled up to an intersection and stopped as Dr. Oliver told us about our enemy: "He calls himself Mesogog."

"And you think he's after the gems?" Conner asked in confusion.

"Looks like it," Dr. O confirmed.

"Always the same with a villain. They're after a power source for some bull crap reason." I muttered casually.

"Look, this is all totally fascinating, but how does it help us find Kira?" Ethan said, looking at us. "I mean she's not just gonna fall out of the sky and land in front of us."

But she did exactly that through an invisi-portal, landing on the hood and looking at us in surprise.

"Wow. Convenient or what?" I spoke in awe, quickly jumping out of the back and going to Kira as the others joined me. "That's just crazy how you did that right as Ethan said what he did."

"I don't even know how I did that. One minute I'm being chased by Franken-Lizard in his creepy lab and the next thing I know, I'm a hood ornament!" Kira said incredulously.

"Invisi-portals," Dr. O said, like it was something he had seen before.

"Whatever," Kira dismissed him, "Next time, I'm calling a cab. What're you guys doing here?"

"We came to try and find you. But I guess we don't need to rescue you anymore," I shrugged slightly, but my mouth was running and jinxing everything again as the Tyrannodrones came back, this time with an armored figure as their leader.

I saw the entourage and sighed softly. "Me and my big mouth..."

Dad and Dr. Oliver were standing next to us readily, Dad holding an electric gun made by Ms. Fairweather and yours truly as he passed Tommy one as well, the teacher asking, "Did Mesogog find someone to do his dirty work?"

"You are not to speak my master's name. Come with me peacefully or suffer the consequences." The figure told us.

"Yeah, I think we'll... C: Make you dream on, Bat Knight!" I retorted to him, immediately rushing forward and starting to fight the villain and his lackeys, the others following suit a few seconds later.

Dad and Dr. O worked together to fight the armored figure, both of them holding their own well.

As I fought my small group of drones, I watched the others use their abilities to their advantage and smirked slightly before I jumped away from a swing and landed, readying my fists and delivering some superpowered punches to the drones, ripping through their mechanical chests and sending them into space with a solid kick as I smiled. "Enjoy the stars, fellas!" I returned to help Dr. O with the armored knight, blocking his attacks and utilizing my punches to the extreme.

"You're no match for me, human girl!" The villain growled.

"We'll see about that!" I responded before I jumped up and delivered a triple spin kick, each blow landing hard against the shield and knocking the general back several feet before I landed.

As I recovered, everyone gathered around the two of us as Tommy said, "Make sure you tell your master Dr. Oliver is back."

"I will inform him that the battle is over, but the war has only just begun." The knight responded in kind before teleporting himself and his lackeys away.

We all watched in confusion, and myself? I was getting a bad feeling that whoever that knight was might be right.

Conner walked over and looked at me, knowing he had seen something. "So, no superpowers, huh? Then how do you explain that roughhousing with the drones?"

I thought quickly and twitched my eyebrows slightly. "Extreme training at Lightspeed."

He made a face for a few moments before he nodded. "Checks out to me."

"It's getting pretty late, guys. We'd better head back." Dad spoke to us. "We'll fill you in on more tomorrow after school."

I nodded and headed to the Jeep, climbing in the back with Kira and hanging on the railing, wondering what tomorrow would bring us.

As it turned out, quite a bit of hasslework as I entered science class, only to be greeted by Ms. Blondie Gossip Cheerleader herself. "Hadley Rae Mitchell, right?"

"That's right." I nodded, extending my hand to her.

She energetically shook my hand. "I'm Cassidy Cornell, Reefside High reporter. Hope you don't mind if I do an interview with you?"

"No, not at all." I smiled a bit, eager to share some of my stories with her.

As we sat down, she turned on her tape recorder and started her questionnaire: "So you lived all the way across the state in Mariner Bay for pretty much your whole life. What made you feel like coming up here?"

"My dad wanted a change of pace after years of preparing for demon fighting and then after the actual invasion, it was a couple of years before he finally retired." I explained casually. "So since I was still underage and living with him, he decided to bring me along and give me a chance to actually be a normal teenager for once instead of rushing around the base like a soldier."

"That must've been tough," Cassidy made a face slightly.

I nodded a bit. "But it wasn't all bad. I got to help the local heroes in my own way, and I can definitely recall one time when my brother kidnapped me and tried to kill me just to get at my dad and sister."

"Wait, what?" She was stunned by that, which made me backtrack quickly.

"O-of course we didn't realize he was still alive at the time. My dad never said anything about it and my sister and I were too young to realize at the time of the crash that my brother had been taken and raised by a demon for ten years, even practically being brainwashed." I said quickly, but that made her even more surprised. I really needed to get a handle on my rambling...

"Raised by a demon and hidden from your family for ten years?" Cassidy shook her head slightly. "I can't imagine the trauma that must have caused you."

I sighed softly and brushed my hair back. "You have no idea."

Cassidy cleared her throat quickly to clear the awkward before she asked, "Okay, so moving on. You've been in contact with the three most notorious members of the school: Conner McKnight the soccer player, Ethan James the computer club techie, and Kira Ford, the musical prodigy. What's your opinion on all of them?"

I smiled, grateful to move forward as I replied, "They seem alright. I mean they're a ragtag bunch of misfits, but aren't we all deep down inside? Conner is definitely whom I'd describe as a ladies' man, trying to flirt his way out of trouble. Doesn't work with me though. Ethan has a really good knowledge of the folktales around California and I've even heard of a couple of them myself, so there's a good connection between us. Kira is really talented musically and I like her style. It helps me focus more on my own artwork and I'm hoping to try and finish a sketch I was working on the other day." I showed her the sketch of Kira singing, which thankfully had been saved from the water spray due to the plastic folder I had it in.

Cassidy looked at my artwork and smiled. "Wow. Realistic style, right?"

I nodded a bit. "Many years of memorizing the landscape of Mariner Bay will add to a girl's visualization."

Cassidy grinned. "Nice!" She passed it back over and smiled.

I saw Dr. Oliver coming in and looked at Cassidy, passing her my phone number quickly. "We'll talk more later, okay?" I smiled at her and pulled out my notebook, glad I could at least share some of my story with someone else.

Suddenly, a rumbling caused us all to grab our desks in surprise as the lights went out and I looked at Cassidy. "This is no earthquake. I know earthquakes, whether common or uncommon, and this is definitely not an earthquake."

The emergency generator started up the lights as we all looked up in time and headed to the window to see lightning flashing across the sky.

"I'm guessing that's not a natural thunderstorm?" Cassidy asked me nervously.

"Definitely not!" I said equally as scared.

Devin ran over to us and spoke up. "You girls are not going to believe this."

"The sky just went black in the middle of the day?" Cassidy asked him with a sarcastic tone.

"It did?" Seems Devin didn't get the memo about that one.

I snapped my hands in his face. "Focus, dude! What is it you need to tell us?"

He came back to and explained, "I just heard this whack report about mechanical dinosaurs downtown."

My eyes widened as I looked at Dr. Oliver, who gave me a subtle nod and I looked at my classmates. "Okay, you two need to get to a safety zone. I'll see what's up." With that, I immediately bolted out of the classroom and headed down the hallway, calling my father up.

Almost like he knew I'd call, he immediately picked up. "Guessing Tommy gave you the cue?"

"Yep. Showtime!" I ducked into the nearest bathroom and looked around before I summoned my Morpher with a flick of the wrist, a pachycephalosaur's roar sounding off as the shape of its head appeared like a device on my wrist in place of my silver cuff.

I focused and remembered what I was taught that previous night before I activated my Morpher. "Dino Thunder, Power up! Ha!" Pressing the white triangle button, I morphed into a purple colored suit with white diamonds down my sides and limbs, my helmet shaped like the robotic dino I had seen in my vision and the visor being shaped like its mouth.

As soon as the morph was completed, I opened the nearby window and hopped through it, landing on the ground and dashing over to the Lightspeed Jeep, jumping in through the window and sliding into my seat as I looked to my dad. "Let's move!"

He nodded and took off down the street, heading to the site quickly.

(Kira's POV)

I had no clue what was happening, and quite frankly, I don't think any of the rest of the students did either, but when Dr. O asked me, Conner, and Ethan to come with him, that meant he knew something about what was happening.

We all were brought back to the Dino Lab as I asked, "So these mechanical dinosaurs. Are they your friends?

"Bio Zords. Fusion powered replicants of using actual dinosaur DNA for the neuro-functions." He explained, going to his computers quickly.

"Wait, lemme guess: You helped build them." Ethan said calmly.

"I'm afraid so." Dr. O confirmed. "And right now, we... I mean you will have to tame them."

That made us confused before I remembered what Hadley said. "Wait a minute. You don't mean... like that, right?"

Conner looked at me in confusion. "That?"

Dr. O smiled and clicked his fingers at me. "Right on the ball, Kira." He walked over behind us to grab something and explained, "Ever since I found the Dino Gems, I've had these waiting and ready to harness their powers."

I smiled a bit. "Into what I'm thinking what I think they are?"

He nodded in confirmation, opening up the suitcase and revealing Morphers with different heads and colors that coordinated with our favorite colors. "Dino Morphers. Use these to become Power Rangers."

That blew all our minds, especially Ethan's as he nearly fainted. "I gotta sit down."

"Breathe, dude." Conner supported him.

I suddenly remembered something else. "We're not like Hadley. We don't have training like she does."

"Maybe not, but you do have attitude." Dr. O pointed out.

I smiled a bit and shrugged slightly. "Makes sense."

He continued on, "The gems came from the asteroid that crashed into the Earth millions of years ago, wiping out the entire dinosaur population. There's other places around the area that have something similar, Pine Ridge and Amber Beach being prime examples. When I found the Gems, I recognized their power and hid them so they wouldn't fall into the wrong hands."

Conner asked the million dollar question for all of us: "How do you know these are the right hands?"

"The Gems are yours. You didn't choose them. They chose you." Dr. O responded confidently.

We watched him pace around a bit and looked at each other before we each picked up our respective Morphers and strapped them on, placing the Gems inside and watching them go into standby mode.

"Whoa, okay. That's clever camouflage." Ethan nodded and smiled.

Conner looked like he was remembering something as he looked at Dr. Oliver. "Wait, didn't you have a silver cuff the other day? I saw the shimmer in your pocket when you rescued us."

He smiled mysteriously. "I already had your first teammate in mind and recruited her when we realized the situation was gonna get out of hand. She's on the field now with Captain Mitchell, probably trying to find ways to stall the Bio Zords for some time for us."

"So what now? Do we need some kind of secret password or something?" Ethan asked in confusion.

"All you have to say is 'Dino Thunder, Power Up' and you'll be transformed," Dr. Oliver told us. "You'll know what to do."

"Dino Thunder?" Conner said curiously before considering the name. "Got a nice ring to it."

Ethan was in agreement. "I kinda like it."

Dr. O nodded a bit. "It's not gonna be easy. I know that better than anyone else, and so does Hadley and her father. But you have to believe in yourself, because they, as well as myself, believe in you."

We all nodded in understanding, realizing this was gonna be necessary.

(Hadley's POV)

I had just managed to corral the Bio Zords into an enclosed street square and panted slightly as I shook my head. "Oh man. Dr. O never told me this was gonna be so impossible."

Dad nodded a bit as he walked over to stand by me. "At least they're in one place for now. All we gotta do is wait for your classmates."

The sound of a Jeep pulling up caught our attention as we looked over and saw the team coming out.

I could tell Conner's reaction to my presence was palpable surprise as he said, "Whoa. Let me guess: Purple, pachycephalo power, and probably super strength."

"Brilliant deduction, chief." I quipped casually, crossing my arms.

That got a reaction of confusion as he mouthed to Kira, "Chief?"

She shrugged slightly in response, not having a good explanation.

Suddenly, we got distracted by Zeltrax once again as he appeared in front of us. "You'll have to get past me first before you get those Zords."

"Remember, you asked for it," I growled lowly.

"Lucky for us, that's the part we're looking forward to." Conner grinned slightly.

Ethan looked to the other two. "You guys ready?"

"Oh yeah." Kira smiled excitedly.

The trio stepped forward and shouted in unison: "Dino Thunder, Power up! Ha!" They morphed in a flash of light and I saw their similar suits, save for the colors, gender differences, and dino motifs, of course.

Rejoining them, I started our role call:

"Cephalo Power! Purple Ranger!"

"Tyranno Power! Red Ranger!

"Tricera Power! Blue Ranger!"

"Ptera Power! Yellow Ranger!"

We could see Zeltrax wasn't happy about the development. "So you're Power Rangers now."

I looked to the group. "Follow my lead!" I held my hands up in fists and summoned my weapons, a pair of pachy headed boxing gloves. "Cephalo Knuckles!"

"Nice! I got a Tyranno Staff!" Conner cheered excitedly.

"I can come to grips with this. Ptera Grips!" Kira took a battle stance.

"Sweet! A Tricera Shield!" Ethan cheered.

As we stood ready for action, Zeltrax summoned a platoon of Tyrannodrones. Typical.

"Let's go!" I commanded bravely, prompting all of us to charge into battle.

Kira fought the drones with grace and style, managing flips and cool midair moves as I fought beside her, boxing my way through the horde.

"See ya!" I heard Ethan say as he sent one in my direction and I boxed it in the face like a punching bag before I delivered a knockout blow with a follow-up. "Wouldn't wanna be ya!"

I saw Zeltrax leaving and intercepted him quickly. "Hold it!"

"You first!" He sent an energy whip out and tied me up, lifting me into the air and launching me into a gate before releasing as I hit the ground.

"Back off!" The others surrounded me and helped me up as we faced off against Zeltrax, but he knocked us all down with blast and we shouted in pain, hitting the ground hard.

I groaned slightly before getting to one knee. "Individual weapons aren't enough in this case. We've gotta combine our weapons!"

"Right!" Conner agreed with me, and together we all combined our weapons, my Knuckles gripping the levers.

"Z-Rex Blaster!" I aimed at Zeltrax with Conner by my side and Ethan and Kira holding the sides.

"Ready!" "Aim!" "Fire!" We spoke in order, firing a shot at Zeltrax and hitting him dead on, turning away from the resulting explosion with our individual weapons.

I looked up and saw Zeltrax getting up as he stumbled back. "You showed me your weapons, now here's mine!" He escaped through a portal and into a ship above us, firing at us and sending us all into cover.

I looked at the Bio Zords and turned to the others. "You guys are up. Use your Morphers to connect with the Zords. They'll communicate your thoughts. Dr. Oliver taught me firsthand."

"Would be nice to understand how you learned," Conner mentioned.

"Later! There's no time!" Tommy told the others, and with that, they immediately set forth to tame the Zords, Ethan being the first successful master, Kira following him, and Conner managing it after a few more seconds.

"Only one more thing to do, Rangers!" Dad shouted as he joined me and Dr. O at the side. "Like you combined weapons, you can combine your Zords. Into a Megazord."

"Okay, let's do it!" Conner led them into the Zords and together, they combined into the Thundersaurus Megazord.

I took my helmet off and smiled brightly as I watched them. "They did it."

Dad was proud of the group, much like he had been proud of his own crew the first time.

We watched as the Megazord maneuvered around and up over the ship before drilling through the core and landing below once again as the ship exploded.

I smiled joyously as I watched the victory. This one was gonna be the first of many though.

Back at the base, Dr. O passed the Morphers to the others as I watched, my helmet back on my head and keeping my identity hidden from the others as he explained the function of the bracelets.

Dad stepped down to talk with the team. "Dr. Oliver and I will fill you all in on how we knew about the Power Rangers... in time. But for now, suffice it to say that your teammate already has knowledge of the Rangers as well."

Kira perked up curiously, but I was saved from scrutiny as Ethan asked, "Speaking of time, you think Mesogog's gonna come back?"

"Unfortunately, villains always come back for more." I told Ethan.

"I know this is a lot to take in. Your lives have just changed in ways you probably couldn't have imagined," Dr. O said, "but as long as you work together, every member, you're a team. No one can defeat you. No one."

The group looked at each other and I walked over to them, holding my fist out and watching the trio pile their hands on top of mine with smiles on their faces, cementing our newfound team dynamic.

Part 2 is done! And in record time, too. All things considered, of course. Well, hopefully within the next week, I'll have some more episodes done up and posted, so stay tuned!
