Chapter 18

We arrive at the Lost Tower, which is the Mt. Pyre or Pokemon Tower of the Sinnoh Region. And this place is really foggy until we have Murkrow use Defog to make it clear. When we reach the top of the tower, we find a lady and she says, "The Lost Tower is where the spirits of departed Pokemon are put to rest. Those that enjoyed long lives... Those whose times were short... All the departed Pokemon shall find solace here. It is good of you to have visited."

And then we get the HM for Strength, I mean, Dawn does since we already have it. "Strength in the Hidden Moves app allows you to push large boulders out of your way. To use that hidden move Strength in the field... I've forgotten where exactly, but you must visit a Pokemon Gym."

Okay, so she doesn't know what gym unlocks that, but it doesn't matter to us, and after battling those Haunters, our Shinx evolve into a Luxio.

Luxio: The Spark Pokemon: Electric Type. Evolved from Shinx at LV:15. Its claws loose electricity with enough amperage to cause fainting. They live in small groups.

When we finally arrive at Solaceon Town, we are training for the Solaceon Contest, during the training, I have Aipom use Focus Punch, and then Aipom uses the Focus Punch in fast succession to make it look like Aipom has two tails.

"It's Double Hit, which means Aipom is close to evolving." Lillie says.

"You think?" Dawn asks. "So what's Aipom's evolution?"

"It is Ambipom." We turn around and see Kenny standing in front of us.

"Kenny?" We gasp after seeing him, and he says, "Long time no see, I am kinda surprised you don't even know the name of the evolved form of Aipom is, Dee-Dee..."

"Don't ever call me that again!" Dawn says with anger.

"Kenny, why do you call her Dee-dee?" Before Daniel can continue, Dawn screams and covers his mouth. "Daniel, don't go there."

"I think everyone's got their secret in their closest." Tox says.

"So, you'll be in the Contest, right?" Kenny asks. "That was too bad about Hearthome City."

"This time there's no need to worry. I'm ready." Dawn says. "And this time we're going to win this for sure."

"Good. And this time we're entering as well." Kenny says.

"You got two ribbons, right?" I ask, and Kenny nods, also asking how many badges and ribbons we have. We also show that we both got two. "So how about a battle?" Lillie asks.

"Maybe later. I was just heading over to see the Solaceon Ruins, where Dialga and Palkia is supposed to be." Kenny says as we are shocked.

When we all get to the Solaceon Ruins, we find the statues of Dialga and Palkia. We find the saying that Cynthia tells us, and Kenny says, "I have a good idea, let's battle now."

"When Dialga and Palkia staring at us? That sounds like a great idea." I say.

"Who gets to attack first?" When we decide to find out who attacks first, we decide to use the Coin Tossing app on the Poketch to flip the coin. Kenny is extremely jealous, which causes Dawn to tease him that he doesn't have one.

We have a draw at the end of the battle, but the entry stairs begin to lift up, carrying Dawn, Piplup, and Aipom with them.

"Dawn!" Everyone yells as we quickly leap inside the ruins before it shuts. "Where are we?" Gladion asks.

"Looks like we're completely locked in." Daniel says, and then we hear Kenny freaking out over the warping walls.

"This is kinda familiar..." Lillie mutters.

"I think so...but we must stay calm." I say as we try to find our way out. "Let's go find Dawn and get out of here."

But just then, we look up and notice the group of Unown, Lillie says, "No wonder we feel familiar! This is Ruins of Alph all again..."

"Why are they attacking us? I mean it is cool to see an Unown..." Daniel says.

"I think they're confused. Something must have attacked them." I say. "I guess we've got no choice."

I have Pikachu use Thunderbolt on them, and Absol also uses Snarl. Kenny also has Breloom use Energy Ball. And just when they are back to normal, the place is also the same.

"Strange...what is going on here..." Gladion asks.

"I also want to know about that as well." Then we notice Dawn and Team Rocket on the ceiling. And much to our surprise, Aipom is not an Aipom anymore, but an Ambipom.

Ambipom: The Long Tail Pokemon: Normal Type. Evolved from Aipom by learning Double Hit. They work in large colonies and make rings by linking their tails, apparently in friendship.

"Dawn! Ambipom! What are you doing on the ceiling?" I ask.

"You're the ones on the ceilings!" Dawn says.

"I think this is the Unown's doing." Daniel says.

Lillie also decides to fight by having Bronzor use Extrasensory, and they also return back to normal, breaking the illusion. As the illusion lifts off, it is revealed that Dawn and Team Rocket are actually on the ceiling and subsequently they fall down on the floor.

"Oh no!" We all try to catch them, and I say, "That's great, Ambipom, you evolved!"

Ambipom is happy as Dawn and the others thank our Pokemon. Suddenly the door to the outside opens and we gets out. "So what have you done this time?" Gladion asks Team Rocket.

"We don't know a thing, just like always!" Instead of trying to take our Pokemon now with the chance, they just run away? That sure is a first.

Kenny then says, "Once we go back to the Pokemon Center, how about I teach your Pokemon Energy Ball? If you won't tell Dee-Dee how freaked out I am."

"Of course." I say as we all head back to the Pokemon Center. And once we get back there, I decide to share with Dawn and Lillie about the Solaceon Ruins.

"You see, just before I get out there, I find this." I say as I show two discs of HM for Defog. Dawn says, "Wow... another HM... but we can't use it, right?"

"We can't... until we get the right badge." Lillie says. "And in the Solaceon Ruins, Unown are the Pokemon there and there are rooms with only that letter of the Unown appear. Six rooms combined, they spell Friend."

"Interesting." Dawn says.

On the day before the Solaceon Town Pokémon Contest, I try to train Turtwig to use Energy Ball, while Kenny and his Breloom look on. However, the training is not going well, and the Energy Ball backfires before taking form, sending Turtwig flying.

"I think we should be keeping on having the Energy Ball formed for now." Kenny says. "But Turtwig has already got the hand on how to train hard. Which is the battle."

"Yeah...It should take some time." Lillie also agrees.

After that, Dawn, Kenny, and I enter the Contest and in the first round, Kenny is up first, and has Breloom begin with a Stun Spore. As the stage fills with the Stun Spore, Breloom's coat begins to shine. Kenny then has Breloom use the Energy Ball, and after using its tail to send the Energy Ball to the ceiling, Breloom uses Mach Punch on the Energy Ball, making the whole stage and Breloom shine.

After a few more performances, it's now Jessie's turn. Jessie sends Dustox out from her Poké Ball and she flies around showing off her shining scales. Jessie tells Dustox to use Whirlwind, and the audience is astounded to see Jessie lifted off the ground. She floats around for a while, Jessie then finishes the performance by having Dustox use Psybeam, which causes a plume of green smoke. After a few seconds, it clears to show Jessie and Dustox having finished their performance in style.

I use Ambipom out of the Pokeball with stars, then she tosses 3 balls to let him juggle, and then finishes off with Double Hit to make the balls break open and show some ribbons. Causing the judges to look in awe. Dawn uses Buneary for the round, but this time she is only using Ice Beam to spin around, making the ice field. But we think that it is a bit much and even the judges aren't impressed by it.

In the end, Kenny and I all advance to the next stage, but Dawn isn't. "No way..." I was hoping to face Dawn or Kenny in the finals. Dawn then turns to us and says, "Congratulations on making to the second round, Ash, Kenny."

"Thanks..." Kenny says as we notice she's pulling a brave face. "Come on, don't be so sad!"

"But Dawn, what about your loss?" Lillie asks.

"No need to worry, I just had a great day out there and that's all. Now you two should get ready for the second round!" And then we are pushed away.

In the semi finals, I'm facing Jessie. She uses Seviper while I use Mismagius. Seviper has shown off very well, but at the last minute, I ask her to use Hypnosis and then finishes him off with a Dream Eater. Letting Jessie out of the stage.

Kenny and I are facing each other, using Mismagius and Prinplup. In the end, my score is higher than Kenny's, and I get my third ribbon.

That evening, I ask, "Kenny, you're going already?"

"Yeah, gotta be ready for the next contest, and you're going to be there too, Dee-dee?" Kenny asks.

"I... I don't think so... not the next one, I guess." It seems Dawn's confidence has taken a serious blow.

"Look, Dee-dee. Let's get one thing straight. There's no way I'll let you quite coordinating at least I had the chance to beat you, understand?" Kenny says.

"Okay! No need to worry, I'll be there." Dawn says.

He turns to me and says, "I won't lose next time." Then he whispers, "And please make her cheer up."

"Sure." Then Kenny bids us farewell.

The next day, we haven't seen Dawn and it is then Zoey comes. "I saw the whole thing on TV."

"Zoey!" I ask with surprise.

"Congratulations on your third ribbon, Ash. But leave this to me." And then she goes into the room to find Dawn. Gladion asks, "Why was Zoey here?"

Lillie says, "I called her here, since as coordinators, I am sure she can help her out."

Zoey enters the room and pulls Dawn out of her bed by having a battle, she asks Dawn to use Buneary, who did what she did yesterday.

"That is the problem, you made an ice field, it is impressive, but that didn't show off the Pokemon. Zoey then has Glameow use Iron Tail to smash through the Ice field, then hits Buneary with a Shock Wave knocking her back to Dawn.

Zoey reveals to Dawn that she passed on the Solaceon Contest to recharge and regain her focus after losing at Hearthome City. Dawn is relieved and takes on Zoey's advice, deciding to turn this defeat into a chance to learn.

And before we leave the town, we also stop by the Day Care Center, and we also learn about the incense for Pokemon breeding, we also use the chance to scan some baby Pokemon.

Budew: The Bud Pokemon: Grass and Poison Type. Over the winter, it closes its buds and endures the cold. In spring, the bud opens and releases pollen.

Chingling: The Bell Pokemon: Psychic Type. Each time it hops, it makes a ringing sound. It deafens foes by emitting high-frequency cries.

Bonsly: The Bonsai Pokemon: Rock Type. It looks as if it is always crying. It is actually adjusting its body's fluid levels by eliminating excess.

Mime Jr.: The Mime Pokemon: Psychic and Fairy Type. It likes places where people gather. It mimics foes to confuse them, then makes its getaway.

Happiny: The Playhouse Pokemon: Normal Type. It carries a round, egg-shaped rock in its belly pouch and gives the rock to its friends.

Munchlax: The Big Eater Pokemon: Normal Type. It wolfs down its weight in food once a day, swallowing food whole with almost no chewing.

Mantyke: The Kite Pokemon: Water and Flying Type. A friendly Pokémon that captures the subtle flows of seawater using its two antennae.

Just then, we are also surprised to find our mother there, and she is here to give me a present. I ask, "What is it, Mom?"

"This is the present. Palmer finds it and wants it to be yours." When we look at the color, we are shocked since it is a Manaphy's egg. "Palmer says that some Pokemon Rangers in the Fiore Region protected the egg, and a girl gave it to him."

"I see..." Much to our surprise, the egg is about to hatch, and now it reveals to be a Manaphy, who immediately imprints me as his father while Lillie's the mother. The one who is actually excited is Togetic because she is also hatched by the two of us as well.

Manaphy: The Seafaring Pokemon: Water Type. Water makes up 80% of its body. This Pokémon is easily affected by its environment.

After that, she's going to continue search for Hunters J and E. Then we bid her farewell and leave the town.
