And here we are Ladies and Gentlemen. Please enjoy the beginning of The Potters. Let me know what you guys think and I am so excited to go through this story with you all. And see how things are different.

James sighed happily as he continued to cast the levitation charm on his stuffed wolf, dog, rat, and stag floated around him and played. He looked at his son's smile and it tugged at the corner of his lips to curve up. Even if this wasn't the situation he'd want he had to admit this felt really good, and wondered that if he hadn't had to go into hiding then perhaps he wouldn't be able to spend as much time as he was with Harry due to his job as an Auror. After all He was one of the best with his partner Sirius Black. His mind drifted to his oldest friend as his name crossed his mind. Sirius had seemed stressed when he had last visited them the month after Harry's first birthday, which he knew had been asked by his wife when Sirius had given a so so answer of his visit as "missing my favorite godson", perhaps stress from the war was causing issues between him and Amelia and his time away was primarily him trying to fix that.

He had to admit it. He missed his brother in everything but blood since they took the Fidelius charm into effect. He and Lily were both severely lonely and it had caused a few fights being stuck in here together. The sounds of Harry summoning the stag into his hands was surprising as he hadn't expected Harry to already be showing signs of magic but at the same time it made sense. Most of the plants that were present around the house were already Magical in nature and wouldn't have been good for someone who couldn't interact with magic to touch them.

"Lily! Come see what your son can do!" He softly yelled across the house as he put the stag a bit away from Harry before hearing the tornado that was his wife run into the room.

"Did I miss his first steps? Did I miss his first words?"

"Lily"

"Did I miss him saying Mama or Dada?"

"Lily."

"Did I miss him saying Padfoot? Or maybe Moony? Or how about-"

"Lily!" James couldn't help but chuckle. As much as Lily was more mature than him she did have her moments where the idea of missing something did cause her to be in a frantic rush like this. "Just watch." He cast the magic again on the stuffed stag which got up and began to move as Harry was reaching out for him. When Harry's face got an adorable look of frustration and annoyance James let go of the stuffed animal and the animal went flying into Harry's arms.

"Was that?! Is that?!" Lily was hopping on the balls of her feet in excitement seeing her son doing magic and James nodded as Lily jumped down to her knees and lifted Harry and the stag up and held them close adorably. "That's my baby boy!" She smiled and dear god did it feel good seeing her smile like that. We had not had reason to see that in a while and just to see the look of it already did more for them then news of the war had done recently. He stood and wrapped his wife and child in his arms, chuckling.

"Yes he is." James kissed his son's head. "Already showing magic at such a young age. He's gonna be a killer on the broom and in classes."

"James." Lily rolled her eyes playfully. "He is going to do great things...maybe not on a broom but great things nonetheless." She poked his nose playfully as she sat down with Harry and summoned a book to her. "Dinner will be ready shortly just letting it cool down a bit off the fire." James nodded as he watched them...Just stood there and watched them. It was one of the best moments of the day when he caught it. Watching Lily have Harry in her arms and reading to him softly and changing her voice to match the different lines. This one in particular was something called "Lord of The Rings''. Apparently Lily read it in her youth and it was a personal favorite of hers...when her "sister" didn't try taking the book.

Petunia...her sister. As much as they had tried to reach out to her as a member of Lily's family it seemed it would never come to be for Lily's family to be whole once again. It hurt him to see the pain in Lily's face since they had been so close growing up and it had been horrible losing her. In a way he knew how it felt due to the loss of his own parents. Their death had weighed heavily on him since it had come almost right after the wedding. He didn't know how to feel and Lily had been there for him holding him as he would collapse to his knees in just fits of tears at the loss of his mother and father... He didn't know how strong Lily could be in this since her parents had passed before Harry's first birthday and yet she still pulled out a smile for her son's day. She was definitely the most amazing woman he'd ever met.

James hadn't known how long he had been watching when he heard the wind blowing against the walls and the thunder from the storm outside. He paused and looked out the window at the storm. He waved his wand softly casting a few weather protection charms on the place. Sure the Fidelius protected them from someone finding them but it did nothing to protect them from the damage of a branch being torn from a tree and damaging their home. Sure coming to Godric's Hollow had been Dumbledore's idea saying that it would be the last place that Voldemort would ever look for them. It made sense at the time but at the same time it didn't. Dumbledore had family buried here along with some very old lines of the Potters which Lily had pointed out to him but Dumbledore had insisted that the wards would be custom made and keyed into James and Lily both so they would feel safe.

It wasn't until he felt the wards did something finally felt off to him. He swiftly moved past Lily and towards where the main door was. Flicking his wand back into ready position as he approached he watched as the door was opened. He felt a part of him gasp as he looked upon the figure in the doorway with the dark cloak which was raised as the head tilted upward and the red slitted eyes pierced his mind and heart.

"Voldemort...Lily, take Harry and go! It's him! Go! Run! I'll Hold him off!" He shouted over his shoulder not turning his body from Voldemort as James began to instantly cast spells at Voldemort who was simply redirecting the spells into the walls of the entrance.

"Give me the boy James." Voldemort spoke his voice soft yet fueled by a force of anger that he couldn't place. James gasped as he felt the unfortunate fact of not practicing lately coming back to bite him as Voldemort of outmatching him. "Fine then...I gave you a choice once James...now I'll rejoin your family. In Death! Avada Kedavra!"

The green lightning danced from Voldemort's wand coming towards James as James swung his wand forward all he felt was three points of impact. Something into his face. Something against his back. and the feel of the ground as his vision began to grow dark. As it did he heard voices.

"Not Harry, not Harry, please not Harry!"

"Stand aside you silly girl... stand aside now."

"Not Harry, please no, take me, kill me instead..."

"I said Stand...Aside!"

"Not Harry! Please... have mercy... have mercy..."

"Avada Kedavra!" Then a scream and the world faded completely.

Sirius groaned as he sat up and stretched. He had to go and check in on Wormtail at his safe house before his duties tonight could be satisfied.

"Siri?" He heard the soft voice beside him ask and felt her hand on his back softly rubbing it. "Come back to bed Luv... or you better have a good reason." The underlying threat made him chuckle as he turned and brushed her red hair back behind her ear and out of her face as he tilted downward and gave her a quick peck on the lips. Before it became a soft and welcoming kiss.

"You know I would in a heartbeat Amy." Sirius replied as he stood up and began dressing himself up. "I must check on Pettigrew." He said. He hadn't hidden the fact he was part of the Order to Amelia who had been understanding as she grew quite annoyed at the fact she couldn't do anything on her side of the table due to the Ministry but would not join due to her having a government job and well. Being part of a hidden society to basically be a vigilante would not put herself in a good spot. Especially with rumors coming that she was going to be up for a promotion soon to be Head of the D.M.L.E.

She sighed at that response and sat up some too looking at him as he dressed. "You know how I feel about Pettigrew." Amelia Bones had a bad history with Peter Pettigrew ever since she had caught him sneaking into the Women's restroom once at Hogwarts and then afterward being the arresting officer on a few of his small crimes.

"I know love, but Peter isn't bad...he's just misguided. Some would say the same about me." Sirius pointed out as he spun around to face her and smiled as he rebuttoned his shirt. "Besides I trust him more than I do Moony right now..."

"Sirius." Amelia scolded softly. "You know the kind of person Remus is. I still can't believe you suspect him of being a spy." She kept her steely look that she had become famous for and after a moment Sirius sighed.

"You're right...you're right." Sirius had to remember to stop letting the stress get to him otherwise it would ruin everything. Especially after what happened when he first let it get to him and it almost caused him and Amelia to separate. He still remembered that argument since it ended with him being petrified and said to sit there and think and then she'd release the charm after a bit. He had and realized he was being childish so when she undid it he simply took her in his arms and apologized. He came back over and sat next to her. "You're right...I'll invite him out for tea soon." He said and leaned forward kissing her again.

"Ugh Puppy Morning Breath." Amelia teased before kissing him again which made him laugh. "Alright go...I got an early morning so I need to go back to sleep."

"I'll be back once I check in and deliver news to Dumbledore that everything is alright." He smiled as he reached around and laid her back in bed pulling the blanket over her. "I'll send a Patronus if something happens." He whispered as he saw the sleep begin to take her again.

"I love you Siri..." Amelia slowly drifted to sleep as she muttered out the words.

"I love you too Amy." He smiled down at her and kissed her head softly before standing and went outside the room before going out of her house and onto his bike heading to the hideout. Upon arrival, He groaned as he pulled up an umbrella to stop the rain from completely ruining his hair as he moved up to the apartment building and up towards the room. As he did he still wondered about his suggestion of being a secondary secret keeper rather than the since he would have died before telling Voldemort the truth. He still had done it to be safe and to protect his brother from the dangers that could follow.

His thoughts ended when he got to the room and knocked. He waited. No return knock...no door being opened...no sound of scurrying...Oh no, His thoughts raced as he flicked out his wand and opened the door, Unlocked too? What was going on? He slowly entered the room and called out.

"Peter?" In a hushed whisper. He slowly looked around and noticed that the room was quite how they left it. Fire whiskey bottles, take out food containers, a simple bed...but empty. No Peter. He looked around as if double checking before casting the detection spell. "Homenum Revelio!" He whispered again and no light illuminated. He waved it again and casted one for animagi. Nothing.

Sirius' blood ran cold as a fear took him and swiftly he spun on his foot and felt the wind take off with him as he ran to the bike and immediately turned on the cloaking and flying capabilities heading off for Godric's Hollow. He slid to a stop in front of the house, his mouth agape as he saw the destruction.

"James! Lily! Harry!" He yelled as he rushed through the destroyed door to the entrance way with his wand at the ready incase anyone was still there. "James!" No response. "Lily!" Again nothing. "Harry!" He screamed his voice slightly raw at the thought that his god son was in danger. He pushed through the destroyed room before seeing James' body on the ground, a book shelf pinning him to the ground. He rushed over and with a flick of his wand sent the shelf to the side before he rolled James onto his back. "James! Come on brother, wake up! Look at me come on!" He leaned down and placed his head near his mouth till he felt air. "He's still alive..." He looked at his friend's face for a moment and sighed in relief before he realized something and stared at the angry scar that ran its way from the bottom of his jaw all the way up to where his eye should have been. "James...Rennervate." He cast and saw James' eye open and gasp for air before coughing. "Thank god you're alright.'

"Voldemort...he...was here." James gasped in pain and for air before his eye widened and went to the steps. "Lily!" He yelled and with Sirius' help standing, Sirius made note of the book that was smoking under James' body which now only read "Lord" and "The", making their way to the steps and up to the room. James gasped and clambered forward. "LILY!" His voice raw from being unused when he was unconscious as he crawled to the fallen body of the woman he loved. Sirius couldn't look and turned his back from it as the tears began to fall from his face before he heard crying both grown and child when it registered.

"Harry!" Sirius moved over James to pick up his god son and held him close with his hand covering the child's eyes from continuously seeing the body of his mother. "It's okay pup i have you here. I got you." He said his tears falling on the boy's head as he looked at James who was yelling at everything and nothing. Sirius rubbed the back of Harry before he noticed the smoking cloak and wand which laid before the fallen Lily. He saw the white bone like wand and with hate in his heart he raised his foot and slammed it down snapping the yew wand in two. Slowly James laid Lily down and kissed her head before looking up, finally registering his son and stood to take Harry into his hands when Harry leaned away. James gasped in surprise before he looked at a mirror and saw what had caused Harry to lean away. The wounds on his face made it to the point that he couldn't recognize his once perfect face. He ran a hand to the wounds.

"I...my face...Sirius." James looked at his best friend before waving his wand and transfiguring a bowl nearby into a mask and putting it on, covering his damaged half of his face in order to keep it safe from infection and to keep it from being injured more. He came back and this time Harry reached for his father who took him and buried his face into Harry's neck softly crying as he held and tried to comfort his screaming son. "I got you Harry...I got you Harry."

"Amelia was right...all along about him...FUCKING PETER!" Sirius growled and punched the wall before he began to move before feeling James' hand reach out and grabbed his shoulder. "He deserves to pay for what he has done James!"

"Yes he does but right now I need you...Harry needs you." James spoke clearly though his face was trying to hold back the pain of betrayal. "And whether she was right or not is irrelevant until Harry is safe and we can send a squad after him." James could tell Sirius didn't like being stopped like this but after exhaling it was clear that Sirius wasn't going to end up doing anything stupid.

"'Ello?! 'Ames? Lilly?" They slowly went downstairs and saw someone they were unsuspecting and yet happy to see. Rubeus Hagrid "Sirius? James? Where's..." Hagrid looked at the baby in James' arms. "And Li-" He never got to finish it as Sirius shook his head, tears still present on his face. "No...damn it all. No." Hagrid felt the tears immediately come to his face.

"Hagrid...what are you doing here anyway?" James asked as he shuffled Harry's blanket around him tighter to keep his son warm.

"Professor Dumbledore asked me to come. 'E had a bad feeling and said to come and bring Harry to him." He said and approached to take the boy.

"It's okay Hagrid." James said, taking a step back. "I have him."

"James, Dumbledore said it was imperative we took Harry somewhere safe." Hagrid spoke in his calm voice knowing how distraught James must be but having full trust in Dumbledore.

"And where is that?!" James snapped back since the "safe location" Dumbledore had chosen for them the house and had put up wards but right now James was spiteful with the loss of his wife and almost death of his son.

"'E said something abo't taking 'im to a place in Surrey"

"Surrey?" Sirius asked, confused.

"To Lily's sister?! She hates anyone she doesn't see as "normal"." James barked at him coughing a bit before waving Sirius' hand away. "Is he there waiting right now?"

"Yes." Hagrid answered. "Him and Professor McGonagall."

"I'm gonna confront the man myself...No one is separating me and my son." The bite in James' voice made Hagrid jump back even though he highly stood over James.

"Alright..." Hagrid started holding up his hands. "Can I just say good bye to 'im?" James relaxed a bit at that since he knew deep down Hagrid had grown close to Harry especially when Harry was brought to Hogwarts and had loved seeing the Hipogriffs including a young one Hagrid had said the name was BuckBeak. He nodded and as he handed the baby to Hagrid who brought the boy close and with all the care of the gentleness in his giant frame he hugged the boy before returning the boy to James. "I'll come to visit once things settle..." Hagrid moved and left the building with the knowable sounds of the Knight Bus coming and going.

"Here James...we'll take my bike." Sirius spoke up and led them out to his motorbike waving his wand to cause the sidecar to appear beside his bike and attaching as James hoped in it holding James close and Sirius took off to the sky.

Dumbledore looked up as he waited for the arrival of Hagrid with McGonagall as he smiled hearing the sounds of the motorcycle coming.

"Ah there he is..." Dumbledore mumbled on the empty street. McGonagall in her own way looked up in worry before a gasp erupted from her lips and the bike slowly came to a halt. As she rushed forward Dumbledore looked on slightly surprised before making his way forward.

"Thank Hestia you are both safe." McGonagall took Sirius into her arms holding him tightly before turning to James and took him close as well, holding her godchild and his son in her arms as tightly as she could without hurting them. "Where's..." Seeing James' half covered face shake she instantly felt the tears.

"Minerva please hold on to Harry for a moment." James gave her Harry who was now asleep tightly cuddled close in the arms. James turned to Dumbledore slowly. "Why did you think this would be the safest place?!" His anger spilling out as he approached the man before Sirius stopped him as James had done to him earlier.

"It is the last place anyone would think to look for Harry. Wouldn't you agree it's safer if he is raised away from magic in case any Death Eaters find out he lives?" Dumbledore's eyes sparkled as he spoke softly to James not showing any anger at the rage that was being spewed at him.

"Safer?! Everyone at the Ministry, which we know he had men in, could find Lily's records of her family life!" James finally wrenched his arm free from Sirius as he paced. "I'm not leaving my son with them."

"James...I must ask you to reconsider-"

"Reconsider?! Albus!" James looked dumbfounded at him. "Petunia has ignored or smacked away any and all attempts we have tried of getting her into Harry's life since the day he was born. She wasn't even at our wedding! Her husband thinks we are both trash too and would probably do worse than her."

Dumbledore sighed. "I must contest that. He is a child and of her own blood."

"Yeah? And that didn't help someone who was her literal fucking sister!" He growled before his hand went to the scar on his face which was covered. The pain stinging him. "End of Discussion." He said before he turned/ McGonagall was looking down at Harry as he approached and slowly she handed him the child. "Why don't I take you to Saint Mungo's James...let you get healed while Sirius prepares the guest room at his and Amelia's?" Sirius nodded as James looked down at Harry and nodded after a moment. "Good...finally you're listening to me." Minerva said jokingly which got a small chuckle from James before taking her hand as he took Harry into his arms and they apparate away.

Sirius looked at Dumbledore for only a moment before hopping on his bike which had returned to normal and headed back home to prepare said room.

Dumbledore looked down and cursed. Now only the few instruments that were tied directly to Harry's health would keep an eye on the boy and the ones tied to Hogwarts itself. He turned on his spot and apparated away and to his office where he took a seat and tapped his wand to his lips in thought as he looked at Fawkes.

"It would seem tonight didn't go as planned Fawkes my old friend." He flicked the letter he had for Vernon and Petunia to the fire nearby. "It would seem I'd need to focus more on the happenings here at Hogwarts and keep an eye from a distance till James has calmed down." Albus scowled at that before shaking his head and flipped open a journal beginning to write into it. "Perhaps I could encourage the Weasleys to comfort him...no...not yet at least." He muttered as his scribbling continued

When James came with Harry to Amelia and Sirius' home he had not been expecting the hug from her but he gladly accepted it burying his head into her shoulder crying as Sirius took Harry so that James could break down. Slowly he was led to the bedroom where a dresser had been turned into a crib for Harry and the bed was ready for him. When the door shut Sirius turned to Amelia and walked with her back to their room and he fell to his knees by the bed as Amelia took her arms and placed them around Sirius holding him as Sirius finally completely broke down from it all. She held him tightly, her hand rubbing up and down his back softly whispering.

"I have you...Just let it go...break...I'll hold you together. I promise." And that was in fact what Sirius did as his own arms went around Amelia's waist and his head buried into her stomach.

James changed into sleeping clothes before he sat down on the bed slowly pulling his wallet out which Lily had bought him a photo of her sitting inside it as he cried.

"Lily...I'm so sorry... I wasn't strong enough to protect you..." He cried before looking up at the crib. "But I will protect our child." He went and picked up Harry and brought him into the bed with him laying on his back as he rested Harry on his chest. He leaned down and kissed Harry's head softly muttering to him. "I have you Harry...Daddy Has you."

Though it was small he heard something that made him cry softly and a smile slowly appeared on his face.

"Da...da."
